  1. God, I sound like Al Bundy. You know "a fat woman came in the shoe store today...." Well this BMW driving goober with his nice clothes, metrosexual attitude and three little fairies for sons came in. I was putting a tire back on the car when one of the little kids ran back to his daddy and says "daddy, daddy, that man has a gun!!!". The man told the kids "Thats called an impact wrench, it looks like a gun but it only works on cars. It's perfectly safe". To which the kid replies, "No daddy, he has a REAL gun". The man the asked me(quite appalled ) " Sir, wha, wha, why uhhhh, Do you have a gun?". I says "Yeah, don't you?" He tells me "NO! I don't allow my family anywhere near firearms." I told him " Huh, well how does that keep your family safe from someone who don't give a ratz azz what you believe in? You know, they call them criminals for a reason, they don't care about laws, right or wrong. You think a criminal will wait around while you call the cops and then wait a little while longer till they get here? What you THINK means nothing, you chose to have a family and you're charged with their safety. Can you honestly tell me youre doing everything to provide it?" ...he probably won't be a repeat customer. Oh-frickin-well. It is sad people. Sad. You ain't gotta be a gun nut like us. I ain't big fan of driving nails but I own a hammer. I hate diggin ditches but I got a shovel. It's just a tool you hope you don't have to use but it sure sucks when you ain't got one.....and you're on the spot, in need of one. Why is that hard to understand? Where does this sense of "Avoidance will make me safe" come from? These are the people who will hide in the bathroom or basement when a volcano erupts. Yeah, duck and cover! Idiots. Rant over.

  2. Robert, I understand exactly what you're saying and some of me agrees with you. ....most of me however has decided I'm not going to lie to myself or other people any more and the truth is, 2/3's of my life is over. I don't care what others think anymore. I have no kids, no family and while I hope and pray all my TGO brethren (and their children) have long happy lives, I just don't care. I don't owe so e yuppie or his spawn an explanation. I don't have to answer to him or anyone else. I've decided to die the man I am right now. I like this guy so I'm going down with him. I know when I speak my mind, some of y'all get plum ashamed of me, Thats fine. I don't fault ya for it. I just do not believe anything will change in this country. Not peacefully anyway. Caring creates burden. Having a care to try to change the minds of those that oppose us is just more than I'm willing to give anymore. We have to be careful of what we say in open forums and all but I'll tell anyone this much; I DO NOT want any from of violent action. I DO NOT want to see people get hurt and die because we can't agree. BUT, I WILL NOT change, I will NOT give up my weapon and if you try to make me I will do my best to ........use it for what it was designed to do. I want to die an old man and on my death bed be able to say I never hurt anyone. .... If I can't do that, I'll get over it. I'm not a 'bury my head in the sand' apathetic loser. I see what's going on, I know what needs to be done. I just think its too little too late. Can anyone HONESTLY look me in the eye (err uh, computer screen) and tell me they really believe things will get back to the way they were?

  9. I never loan my guns out, neither my fourwheeler nor my truck.   But a garden tool, or something easily replaced, No problem. Bring it back when you're done.   Thing i was taught by my dad was if you borrow something, bring it back in the same shape as you first borrowed it. Clean it up ( even if it was dirty to begin with) and return it to the same spot as you took it from.

  11. A yuppie opened the door of his BMW, when suddenly a car came along and hit the door, ripping it off completely. When the police arrived at the scene, the yuppie was complaining bitterly about the damage to his precious BMW. "Officer, look what they've done to my Beeeeemer!!!", he whined. "You yuppies are so materialistic, you make me sick!!!", retorted the officer. "You're so worried about your stupid BMW, that you didn't even notice that your left arm was ripped off!!!" "Oh my gaaawd...," replied the yuppie, finally noticing the bloody left shoulder where his arm once was, "Where's my Rolex?!!!!!"

  13. Went into the local sporting store (actual gun shop is 30 miles away) and every time I've been in there I've chatted up a guy at the counter that loves old Mosin rifles and helped me pick one out a few weeks ago. Yesterday afternoon on a whim I walked in and picked up a box of 380 and 9mm hollow points for my carry guns and was looking at the 50 round boxes of match grade 22 and told the wife I just won't buy expensive 22 for plinking no matter how low I was. The guy got done with someone else and walked up and asked if I was looking for some 22 and I answered yes. He said hold on and went into the back and out came a case, and handed me two Remington 525 boxes for $21. This is a place that doesn't put out ammo except in the mornings the day after it arrived. I felt like Charlie with the golden ticket in the Willie Wonka movie lol. Now to tell the buddy to buy his damn rifle since I've got ammo covered for awhile lol. And we even got the wife's prints and DMV paperwork done yesterday so it was a good day out.

  14. WTF does need have to do with any of it?   Moron's,  just as bad as the anti gun crowd who want to know why I need an AK or a 9mm with 16 round mags,  Or why I need crates of ammo for the AK.

  15.   The uglier it gets out there, the more "need" to carry an AR like this. In case you haven't noticed, the Libtards are in all out attack mode already. #### them. I'm tired of worrying about what they think. I think it's cool. I like mine better, only because you don't have to pull the barrel.

  16. With all due respect, I'm about sick and tired of hearing this question in gun discussions. This seems like a pretty slick setup to me. Who here doesn't have stuff they don't "need"?

  18. I think that I would do anything I could to protect myself or others (including police officers). Of course until one is in a situation we never know for certain though, do we? In my life I have done a few things that if something hadn't happened within seconds others would have been killed - at the time I thought I was doing the right thing. I still think I did... I would do it again. All the can do is what we think is right at the time.

  19. Hey now, I drive nice vehicles too, not BMWs but certainly that price range so let's lay off the anti-nice-car comments, okay???  :) I'll bet this guy was well under 40 years old, maybe even well under, right??? I think it's time we all come to grips with the simple fact that our entire education system from kindergarten through graduate school has an agenda to convince students that "guns are bad" and I'll bet this fellow learned exactly that so of course, he was appalled that you "had a gun"; after all, he's probably been taught that for years and years. I know, this is Tennessee but Tennessee isn't immune to this educational brainwashing.   Only parents and uncles and such can counter that teaching...Reagan said "freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction"...the same is true when it comes to a love and appreciation of the right to keep AND bare arms.   Now, if you'll forgive a little bit of criticism - I think this encounter could have gone a little better if you had been a little less confrontational and a little more educational.  I know it's difficult to do when confronted with stupidity but I suspect that this guy simply went away more convinced of his own position than he was inclined to consider yours which means his kids are likely to think the same way and, unfortunately, they'll be voting someday (of the country lasts that long). ;)

  20. I hate being asked "Why?" It irritates me, sometimes, when my kids ask me "Why?" BUT, it pisses me off to no end when an adult asks me "Why?".   It's as if I've misbehaved or something....

  22. Stole this from a motorcycle forum, probably not true but I figure the LEO community here might get a kick out of it:   Recently, the Chula Vista, California Police Department ran an e-mail forum (a question and answer exchange) with the topic being, "Community Policing." One of the civilian e-mail participants posed the following question, "I would like to know how it is possible for police officers to continually harass people and get away with it?" From the "other side" (the law enforcement side) Sgt. Bennett, obviously a cop with a sense of humor replied: "First of all, let me tell you this...it's not easy. In Chula Vista, we average one cop for every 600 people. Only about 60% of those cops are on general duty (or what you might refer to as "patrol") where we do most of our harassing. The rest are in non-harassing departments that do not allow them contact with the day to day innocents. At any given moment, only one-fifth of the 60% patrollers are on duty and available for harassing people while the rest are off duty. So roughly, one cop is responsible for harassing about 5,000 residents. When you toss in the commercial business, and tourist locations that attract people from other areas, sometimes you have a situation where a single cop is responsible for harassing 10,000 or more people a day. Now, your average ten-hour shift runs 36,000 seconds long. This gives a cop one second to harass a person, and then only three-fourths of a second to eat a donut AND then find a new person to harass. This is not an easy task. To be honest, most cops are not up to this challenge day in and day out. It is just too tiring. What we do is utilize some tools to help us narrow down those people which we can realistically harass. The tools available to us are as follows: PHONE: People will call us up and point out things that cause us to focus on a person for special harassment. "My neighbor is beating his wife" is a code phrase used often. This means we'll come out and give somebody some special harassment. Another popular one: "There's a guy breaking into a house." The harassment team is then put into action. CARS: We have special cops assigned to harass people who drive. They like to harass the drivers of fast cars, cars with no insurance or no driver's licenses and the like. It's lots of fun when you pick them out of traffic for nothing more obvious than running a red light. Sometimes you get to really heap the harassment on when you find they have drugs in the car, they are drunk, or have an outstanding warrant on file. RUNNERS: Some people take off running just at the sight of a police officer. Nothing is quite as satisfying as running after them like a beagle on the scent of a bunny. When you catch them you can harass them for hours. STATUTES: When we don't have PHONES or CARS and have nothing better to do, there are actually books that give us ideas for reasons to harass folks. They are called "Statutes"; Criminal Codes, Motor Vehicle Codes, etc...They all spell out all sorts of things for which you can really mess with people. After you read the statute, you can just drive around for awhile until you find someone violating one of these listed offenses and harass them. Just last week I saw a guy trying to steal a car. Well, there's this book we have that says that's not allowed. That meant I got permission to harass this guy. It's a really cool system that we've set up, and it works pretty well. We seem to have a never-ending supply of folks to harass. And we get away with it. Why? Because for the good citizens who pay the tab, we try to keep the streets safe for them, and they pay us to "harass" some people. Next time you are in my town, give me the old "single finger wave." That's another one of those codes. It means, "You can't harass me." It's one of our favorites. For those who do have, or have had a close association in the Law Enforcement industry, I am sure that this will have a special meaning.

  23. It depends, If your life is in danger yes, by all means if you have a clear shot shoot the perp( but like others said) drop mag, clear round and lay flat on the ground and make no threatening moves.     Say if a cop is pinned down by a crazed shooter, I'd do everything in my power to save his/her life. If I had a clear shot. May have to be treated as a suspect( drop gun, mag and clear round and be unthreatening). But I'd do it.

  26. I guess in some areas Police are viewed as nothing more than revenue generators. Around here i never had a problem with a cop pulling someone over violating a traffic law. I have had 2 tickets in my life( for speeding). I don't speed anymore( just go with the flow of traffic).   I live out in the country and it is nice to see the sheriff deputies "harassing" cruising the neighborhood from time to time. Least make their presence known. Soon I'll be moving back to Tullahoma and having a city cop down the road isn't going to make me feel one bit "harassed".

  34. Knowing the facts?  I suppose not knowing all the facts could be a problem but how often are police involved in a gun fight and the police are the "bad guys"?   I guess the way I see it, if bullets are already flying and I'm "there" then isn't my life in danger?  I don't think it's theoretical at that point...maybe intervening isn't the smartest thing to do but I think it would be the right thing to do.

  41. Oddly enough i gave my oldest grandson a rifle when he turned 5.  He has not shot his little brother or anyone else yet.  I guess he has not applied himself well enough.   But he is a decent little rifleman, now 10  who has long understood gun safety and the potential for damage they can cause if misused.   Of course he does not have unfettered access to it.  But he, as well as his little brother pay little attention to any gun here in the house.  No more than they do with my hammers or saws or other tools.

  43. There is nothing wrong with a guy buying 3 boxes, or his wife buying 3 boxes. But letting him come back in and buying 3 more is wrong by WM's limit of 3 boxes per person per day. I found that if you call 1-800-WAL-MART and make a complaint about a store and the way they are selling ammo you will get a call back from the store manager.  It worked for me anyway. As far as "What are you going to do with 5000 .22s?" I used to go thru a brick per trip to the range and I was going to the range 2 times a month. Plus I shoot .22 in my back yard with the Grandkids, your 2 bricks wouldn't of lasted a weekend with them. Get a Smith M&P 15-22 and see how fast you can go thru 500 rounds. :)
