Could be a "1861 pocket police cylinder"... It wasn't unusual for these percussion revolvers, especially the "well used" ones to have extra cylinders or orphaned cylinders from another revolver... The lanyard loop is interestin too... It may have been added by an old time gunsmith...They were popular round the ww1 era... Remember, many of these old percussion revolvers were regularly used up into the 1930's... They were (...and still are...) accurate, relatively dependable, and deadly in the right hands... I tend to think that Spots has found a "real, original" navy with a maverick cylinder... The area in which it wuz found (....Oliver Springs area...) was no stranger to strife and trouble from civil war times right up thru the 1930's...Lots of veterans came home to places like Oliver Springs after the civil war; and lots of people were armed because of the old time coal mine labor troubles that followed like at Coal Creek... Most everybody was armed in that vicinity; and they knew how to use those arms if they needed to;.... lots of their sons and daughters them still do today... thankfully... leroy5 points

Actually, armed guards in schools is an excellent plan from a liberal standpoint. It helps promote obedience and complacency during the indoctrination years.3 points

They are not scared of us in the least, because We the People keep re-electing them over and over again. We need to do away with career politicians that become so powerful, they are almost unstoppable. I really wish the state would get together for a Constitutional Convention, and impose term limits on Congress. Not going to happen, though.2 points

Also sounds like a lot of conservative Republicans I know as well. Free thought is not a strong point for either party.2 points

Obama is not delusional, he only appears that way because his agenda is so different from most of us that it defies logic. Everything he does is for a reason. Take this move, the first thing that comes to mind is, give the NRA what they want, put the guards there. The next time a shooting still happens even with an officer there, he will say, "see we tried your idea, it didn't work, now we need to try my way". Just edited for an additional thought. What better way to start getting kids to get used to our ever increasingly move toward becoming a police state.2 points

As expected, the show ******* rocked! It was 90% concert, 10% movie. They played most of the popular songs. Much of the camera/3D work made you feel as if you were on stage with the band. I left wanting to punch someone in the mouth. I'd see it again.2 points

I've loaded the Federal paper hulls and they were great. I loaded all of my ribbed Remington hulls and gave them to my kids for Christmas, told them to NOT pick up and save the hulls for me - I'm done with them. Winchester AA only for me. I bought 1000 AA hulls from a skeet range years ago and still have a lot left. Most can be reloaded 4 times.2 points

Kwik cash pawn in Lebanon is having a major auction of several hundred firearms on 9/28 at 10am. I saw the gun list today and there's a ton of nice stuff. From pistols including sigs and Glocks, lots of shotguns and rifles and a couple of c&r rifles too. The auction info should be up on the Agee auction site soon http://www.ageeandjohnsonauctions.com/1 point

I have an old RG .22lr, pull the trigger and you have about a 1 in 3 of a misfire. Pull the hammer back and it fires ever round. Believe in God or not. Be happy no innocent person was shot. I choose to believe.1 point

If you want a "mid range" $1000-1200 AR for $800-900, get a stripped lower, parts kit, buffer./stock assembly and find a complete upper, like from Palmetto State Armory when then run their sales. Matter of fact PSA is good for all the parts really -- watch for blem sales. If you want a complete quality rifle you can for sure depend on with a factory warranty on whole gun, buy one of the Colt or Smith and Wesson models from Walmart in the $1,00-1300 range. Although a lesser priced Windham Weaponry, DPMS, or Bushmaster from there will suffice just fine for most folks and will likely kill near about as many zombies before MTBF as the Colt/S&W, but the snobs will dis it. :) - OS1 point

A good pistol(revolver) will shoot good to 100 yrds in the right hands, and great for HD. Get ya a Ruger Black Hawk in 44 mag. I know ya said AR, but a pistol is easier in side a house.1 point

Not nearly as good as these stories, but I got a little one to tell. We have a neighbor who likes to feed the roaming possums around us. H seems to think they are cute. There's an old fence line sorta katty-cornered about 75 yards away that is between our properties. He's been dumping table scraps out there for over a year to feed them. So of course, every one in the area comes in to feast every night. About 2 am some time back, our dog was raising a ruckus to get outside. Thinking she just needed to potty, I let here out the door and watched her tear out heading for the front of the house. Knowing this wasn't her usual potty area, I followed her. Grabbing a flashlight, I stumbled out to hear what sounded at that time; like a huge fight. She was growling and snarling like crazy. And I could hear some almost hissing sounds. Found her with a possum caught up against a foundation vent screen. Both were eyeballing each other pretty hard and getting louder. Thinking the possum's behavior a little odd, and fearing a rabid one; I grabbed my dog by the collar, took her inside and grabbed a little Model 60. By this time my wife is up, wondering and worrying about what's going on. I just say I gotta shoot a possum. Looking rather puzzled and concerned, she follows me out. Dang. This short tale sure got long. Sorry. I get back around front and sure enough, the possum is still there. So I shine my flash in his eyes and pop a wadcutter at the base of his skull and neck. That little 38 w/c sure makes a lot of noise at 2 in the morning. Lights start pooping on around us so I think we should go back inside, so I to leave it and clean it up in the morning. Some of our neighbors aren't to gun friendly. Especially at that hour. Anyway, later that morning, my young neighbor comes down and says he found some large marble sized dropping in his garage, followed them and found a litter of young possums in his garage. Being a concerned animal lover, he called Animal Control to come and get them out. Evidently I had gotten the mother. And he being such a sound sleeper hadn't heard the 38. Since he didn't mention it, I let it go by that I'd shot one earlier. He said that his wife had really been upset at finding them in their garage, and really came down hard on him feeding the little critters. Anyway, he's stopped dumping scraps there. And I've convinced him to clean up that fence row. We still have some around, but now I use the Ruger 22/45 and the Augila subsonic to dispatch them. It doesn't seem to upset the neighbors as much. I told them it was a pellet pistol, like the Gammo rifle I shoot in the back yard. That sucker is loud. It actually sounds like a 22lr round going off.1 point

Only fair to repeat, this was the cloture vote, all GOP members voted against the CR with the ACA clause struck out. Some would say that we send Congressmen to DC to cast their votes on bills, not to simply stall. This is what they did, and they voted the way you would have. - OS1 point

LOL! Along those lines... Last year I was talking to our Safety Director about some critter problems we'd been having with our chickens when our Head Dispatcher and Salesman (a black gentleman) came back into the office just in time to hear me say, "Yeah, them damn thievin' 'coons from across the branch are at it again - just can't seem to leave our chickens alone, no matter how unwelcome I make 'em feel!" The dispatcher gave me a withering scowl that left me wondering who'd whizzed in his Wheaties and I headed on out to the truck. Twenty minutes later the Safety Director called me and he was laughing so hard he could barely get his breath. Evidently our dispatcher had sat there and fumed for several minutes and then blurted out, "You know of all the guys we have here, I never would've expected Don to turn out to be such a flaming racist!!!" It took the S.D. 5 minutes to quit laughing long enough to tell him that I'd been talking about raccoons and that when the lady who lives across the branch and feeds the darn things forgets to leave food out they invariably head for our chicken run. The next day the dispatcher told me, "I guess I owe you an apology." I said, "No you don't - I needed a good laugh, I'm just sorry that it was at your expense!" To this day he asks about our chickens at least twice a week. :rofl:1 point

The only hull that makes a quality reload by Federal is the Gold Medal hull, or the paper hulls (love the smell). Look on line for a good deal on buying hulls of your desired brand if you can't find them locally at a range.1 point

I replaced my Goodyears with Michelin M&S road tires and bought them at the Ford Dealer. They had a special on tires and it was a better deal than Tire Rack. I'd check with your local Ford dealer before jumping on a deal. Edit - better mileage warranty than Goodyear too.1 point
Not sure what I think about this Pincus video: I think for me it would be more like this: 1. If there is time, the family would barricade in the safe room without me 2. I would positively identify the target as a BG (especially important at night) and then pull the trigger I know it would likely not be that cut and dried as there could be other complexities, but I'm not sure I agree with his version, including the idea of verbally warning the BG that you have a gun.
I have kids to protect. Any apprehension on my part to eliminate the threat puts their lives at risk, especially due to my floor plan. Anyone who illegally enters my home does not deserve the benefit of the doubt, and anyone who risks their lives by giving an intruder the benefit of the doubt is being foolish. The benefit of the doubt ends at the locked door or window they came through. The locked door was their warning.1 point
