I'd get one that plugs in.  I don't use mine a lot, but I've never had an instance where cordless would have been better.

Ok fellows, sometimes you see and read things that cause you to just step back, take a deep breath and forget some things that you've seen. Let me share some things here.   If you live outside the city limits and can safely do so, you may shoot coyotes off your deck with the following restrictions:   1) Shotgun: Loaded with 1 single ball (slug) or #4 shot or smaller (5,6,7,8). "T" shot or smaller (BB). The use of "buckshot" of any size (0,00,000,1,2,3,4) is strictly prohibited. 2) Centerfire: All calibers are legal. Soft nose, Hollow point and SST (polymer tips) are permitted. Full jacket ammo is strictly prohibited. 3) Muzzleloaders (see shotgun above) 4) Archery equipment. 5) The use of any artificial light to locate or aid in the taking of game is prohibited. Night scopes may not be used.   The placing of any food item or bait is strictly prohibited unless removed at least 10 days prior to hunting. IE: If throwing turkey parts in your yard to draw a coyote out of the woods for the purpose of shooting it, that is baiting and prohibited.   Legal hunting hours for coyotes is 1/2 hour before "legal" sunrise, to 1/2 hour after "legal" sunset. Shooting or attempting to shoot coyotes at night under lights is verboten!   A lot of regs boils down to what the officer thinks or believes what your intentions were/are. For example; if your throw out animal parts at night to attract a coyote under lights to shoot it....you may have a problem. If however, that coyote attacks or attempts to attack your pets or live stock, you may shoot to kill with whatever weapon ammo you have handy and day or night. Again, what was your "intent"? You have letter of the law and "intent".   It's published in many resources that the best cure for Coyote, Coon, possum and skunk problems is to keep pet foods inside away from wildlife. I've yet to hear of a coyote coming up on peoples porches to eat dog food. They are way too shy for that.   If you are hunting or shooting the coyote on "your" property, a license is not required. However, all other requirements must be met. If hunting, a Hunters Safety Certificate may be required. Music City Tactical Shooters (www.mctsclub.com) will be hosting a beginner level 3 gun match this Sunday, August 30th at 1pm. There will be an emphasis on using all 3 guns on all stages, with minimal shotgun reloading. The idea being that it's more important to be familiar and safe with all 3 weapons when running a course of fire. Shotgun reloading can be practiced at home (WITH DUMMY ROUNDS ONLY!!!) to build speed and proficiency. Maximum distance with rifle will probably be around 100 yds shooting small auto-reset poppers, so iron sights and 1x magnification red dots shouldn't be a problem. All shooting divisions welcome (AKA bring whatever guns you want to run as long as they are in safe working order). .223/5.56 up to .30 caliber rifle, 9mm up to 45ACP pistol and 12 gauge shotgun birdshot loads #6 - #8 size. NOTE: STEEL SHOT, STEEL CORE and/or BI-METAL BULLETS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE USED ON STEEL TARGETS. This will earn you a disqualification, and potentially money out of pocket to replace damaged steel targets. Round Count: 75 rifle, 75 pistol and 75 birdshot will insure you get through the match.    Set up will begin at 8am, shooters meeting at 12:30pm, shots down range at 1pm. I’m armed and trained; but I don’t think I could have saved either of those victims. I don’t have the protections I had as a Police Officer. I absolutely would have had no issue with getting involved to save someone, but by the time I would have been sure of what I was seeing; he would have been shooting.

  I get what you're saying and yeah, I've looked at people and told myself I'm going to do what I can to know where they are in the store or wherever...but I just don't like the line of thought that having people carrying is the cure all to these events from going the way they do with the "if only there was someone carrying" mantra.  My gun is for my safety, I'm too worried about what I'm doing and securing myself to actively think about others.  Not trying to be cold blodded or uncaring, just realistic.

I like your incubator idea.  I followed peejman's advice and put the firing pin assembly in the oven on low heat and it worked like a charm to get the cosmoline out of there.

Dremel Tool, AcraGlas Gel kit, molding clay, masking tape for edge of stock before release agent.    The first one I did I used a cardboard box to hold rifle while placing AcraGlas in stock after preparation to prevent mess.  Brownell's web site has video's showing how to do it as well as the equipment you need.  I have never paid for having a Remington Rifle glass bedded.

  Would they?    From what I read, the guy walked up, and shot the reporter & camerman.  Your logic presupposes there are people carrying, and actively searching out threats to others and not themselves like some kind of security element.  I know when I'm out and about, my priorities for safety are me and anyone with me, and anyone else who happens to be there secondary.  I'm also focused on what I went out to do and have my attention divided by that at some level.  I can't say I would have seen this coming and acted before the shooter carried out his plan.  Maybe as a reaction, but it wouldn't have saved those gunned down today.   Just my thoughts on the subject...condolences to the family and friends of the victims.

If you're not defending people, pets, or livestock from an immediate threat, you're hunting.

I bet they stop doing that and pay a little more attention. That, or hire a camera assistant for situational awareness.

I think it's considered socially offensive NOT to keep eye contact with the person to whom you are conversing. Very odd to scan during a short and pointed interview.

Something feels hokey about the video. The guy walks up and points his gun and no one notices. I can only assume the weapon wasn't charged and he pulls back to load it. Then he fires multiple times and the gal takes off running. I understand fight or flight adrenaline but most humans will fall especially an injured lady. Not making light or calling bs on a situation where someone obviously died, it just feels off. Either way, sad. Very sad. When do we white folk riot? We're this the other way around.....oh never mind.

What was your SOP in the 90’s for a suicidal person pulling a gun on you? In the 80’s ours was to shoot them if they were putting us or others in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm.

It's amazing that this guy was able to get so close, fumble around, and still kill those two. If anyone around had been carrying they would have had PLENTY of time to take this guy out before he did any damage. Unbelievable.

  Decent quality AR stuff is so cheap right now it really makes sense to just stash a couple of basic rifles on general purposes. Catch the right sale on PSA and you can do complete blem lower and upper and have a purt decent $500 AR without having to "build" anything using the "Freedom" line, and not much more even with the "Premium". And of course even cheaper with the PTAC line, which will kill zeds pretty well too. :)   - OS

  I'm Oh Shoot or OhShoot pretty much everywhere on gun related forums.   Any brand name M16 type carrier should be fine. PSA name brand one is fine usually call them "premium" I guess, though they sell some that aren't PSA branded. Bolt failure is fairly rare even with cheapos, but of course it does happen, but it also happens with expensive ones too.   Absolutely no reason to get a SIG or Shockwave brace unless you're gonna use it against the shoulder though (so make sure Mad Max Kingery ain't watching when you do ;))   - OS

Looks very grippy. The beauty of plastic framed guns, especially Glocks, is that you can really modify the grip to suit most anyone if you don't mind taking a 400.00 gun and turning it into a 200.00 gun.
