  1. I haven’t forgotten, Last week I passed up Dicks, which is 2 minutes from my house, and drove 20 minutes to Academy in Knoxville to spend $250 on shoes and another $150 for camping supplies. I hope they continue to feel the pain of their decision.

  2. Done that a few times too. We were in downtown Chattanooga and had eaten at Mellow Mushroom. As we were walking back we came across a homeless person. My oldest offered up his pizza leftovers (still warm). Proud papa moment.

  3. I don't have any first hand experience with the Compass but I have owned a lot of TC rifles over the years. All were dependable, accurate guns. I have not bought any new TC guns in a couple of years so YMMV.

  4. Yaknow, They could have publicly just said, "The guns and ammo sales aren't working for us, so we're going to phase them out of the stores." But instead they had to try and make a point and say, "Guns are evil and we hate them." The former would have accomplished the same thing without alienating a large portion of their customer base. We all know their prices were too high, and nobody would have given a second thought that they weren't making money on them, and getting rid of them was a good business decision. What was it, the Vegas shooting that started all this for them? America has largely forgotten about that by now, but we have not forgotten that Dicks doesn't want our business.

  5. Everytime I walk out of a restaurant with leftovers, I keep an eye out for someone who could use that food a lot more than I could before I make it to the fridge.

  6. One of the challenges is knowing homeless people do pan handle but not all pan handlers are homeless; it is their chosen career. Had an opportunity to be a secret agent. Was at Kohl's, noticed homeless woman asleep along the parking lot borderline. Approached cautiously, carefully, and courteously. No response, she was in a deep sleep. Placed 2 bottles of water by her back pack and slipped a $10 in a side pocket then scurried off. You don't have to be classified as a saved Christian to do on to others and love thy neighbor

  7. I would pick up a new Gen 4 and call it a day. I have all of the Gens from 1-5 and the 4th Gen is still my favorite. The lack of finger groves on the Gen 5 isn't really a plus, in my opinion, as the RTF texture still isn't rough enough and the finger grooves on the Gen 4 actually help you get a more secure grip on it. Again, my opinion. The nDLC finish on the Gen 5 slide is nice but it's also super slick. The Gen 5 needs front cocking serrations because of that. I've got a scar on my left hand as evidence of this, from where my had was slightly damp from sweat on the range and slid off the slide and across the rear sight, violently, while chambering a round between strings of fire. The average Joe may never encounter that problem, but Murphy's Law is a bitch. As for ordering a new barrel for a Gen 5... I have to ask: WHY? The Gen 5 barrel is purportedly an improvement over past Gens, and has an obvious crown to the barrel to protect the rifling. I have found it and any of the other Gen G19s that I have to be more accurate than I am at combat distances. Not once have I shot a Glock 19 and thought, "This damn thing needs a more accurate barrel". Just some honest thoughts on the subject.

  8. This post always reminds me of a certain children's song without end. On the upside we gain new TGO members periodically, even if they do have questionable taste in 1911's

  9. I bought the DeSantis Nemesis and really like it. I gave the little Keltec P32 with the no name leather holster to my daughter. She carries it all the time now.

  10. [1] I don't think any of them will. I think some parts, like maybe the magazine release from a Gen 4 will work in a Gen 5. Personally, I'd just consider that none of the spare parts will fit, sell them along with the Gen 3 (if you are selling), and buy spare Gen 5 parts. That way it is 100% the way Glock designed it, no questions asked. Or, stick them with your Gen 3 (marked in a bag to remind future you what they are). [2] Was/is it a barrel for a Gen 3 or Gen 5? I might hold off if I were you. Shoot them Gen 5 quite a bit first. They switched from polygonal rifling to traditional lands and grooves. They now call it a "Marksman Barrel". Unless it is just something that you really, really want, you may find that you don't want/need the Wilson Barrel. Personally, I love my Gen 5. I started on Gen 3, upgraded to Gen 4, and then sold all my Gen 4 stuff recently because I like the Gen 5's.

  12. First off, I'm new here, and this is my first post. I think with most any manufacturer, (Tisas or anyone else), you can get a good product, and you can also get a POS. And cost alone in itself does not control that. And this includes a lot of top American manufacturers. Anyone remember the S&W Sigma, or the Colt All American 2000? Or some of the dog POS pistols Ruger has put out over the years? A big part of the problem today are all of the blogs and You Tube "experts" out there, many of which wouldn't know a good weapon if they had one in their hand. They wind up putting a LOT of bad information out there. Back to Tisas. Using myself as an example, I recently purchased a Tisas Regent BR-9 Stainless Steel Hi-Power clone from Brownell's. It has proven to be an excellent, high quality pistol thus far. Excellent machining with very few tool marks inside both the frame and slide. And very good slide to frame fit. And a very good trigger. Especially considering the gun has a magazine safety, which is known to increase the trigger pull on Hi-Power's. The gun digested 400 rounds of 4 different types of 9 MM ammunition without a single FTF or FTE. And that included 100 rounds of Federal 9BPLE +P+ Hollow Points. With that said I did purchase the Tisas BR-9 Essential Reliability Kit from BH Spring Solutions. It give you an extra extractor, firing pin retaining plate, as well as all the necessary springs and roll pins to replace them. I have 2 other Browning Hi-Powers, and it can never hurt to have extra parts available. But as of yet they have not been needed. I know 400 rounds isn't a tell all, but it's a damn good start. So as is the case with most manufacturers, it really isn't fair to judge them on a single product. https://bhspringsolutions.com/tisas-br9-hi-power-/358-tisas-br9-hi-power-essential-kit.html And After 400 Rounds
