  1. It's been a few years back for me, but I acquired a Mosquito at a gun show. Sub 200 and was practically new. I found it to be very much a long term problem. FTF at least 2/3 times a mag. I stripped and cleaned it as best I could. No joy. Changed mags by buying a couple new ones. Same problem. I liked the look and feel of the pistol, but gave me too many problems. Sold it to young man at the next gun show I went to. Told him it was a headache, but he took it anyway. Granted that's been 6/7 years ago. They may have gotten better by now. Like Moped said...try the TX22. Or the Keltec P17 if you can find one.
  2. Doesn't everyone?
  3. LOL! Good commentary on our lives and how we conduct them. Choices we make are sometimes very questionable...at best. Personally, I probably will not. Not politically or emotionally motivated. In an informal, off the cuff, and off the record, conversation with one of my doctors, I am advised that with my medical history, it might not(stress might here) be advisable for me to take it. At least for the time being. Trying to take new-normal precautions, supplements(that we have discussed here ), and generally maintaining good healthy lifestyle might be best for me. This is in no way a recommendation for ANYONE to follow. It just reflects my particular situation.
  4. I'm really at a loss for words right at this moment. This is one of the most ambiguous, catch-22 things I've ever read. I'll try to compose a coherent response and submit it. Just will take some time to formulate.
  5. Mr. Hickcock seems to do quite well with about anything he picks up. lol
  6. I like your system. Really, I do.
  7. BRAVO! It's amazing how something can just so misunderstood by the general public. More guns bought. More ammo needed. Simple right? Not for some. lol
  8. Well...this certainly has been a fun-filled and informative thread tonight. lol I've been occupied with some things the past few days and haven't done more than just check in for PM and see if anything interesting was posted by GT. All joking aside, I have been wondering just how far some of the highjinks of late would go on/be allowed before Armageddon arrived. Some commentary of late has been pretty intense, just short of fisticuffs I think. Now I'm not saying I'm innocent in some of these discussions, but I try to keep within the bounds of decency and civility, which usually are pretty loose around here. I enjoy a healthy discourse, even an unhealthy one for a time; but I have to admit that this thread was beginning to be an IED just waiting to be sprung. And I had to miss it. Kudos to all the Admin guys and especially to David, for keeping the sanity around here.
  9. Well, I didn't go for that reason, but thank you for the thought. I don't think I was any closer to Michael than anyone else here, and likely less so. But the times we did meet, talk, or deal; I always felt liked and welcomed into his life...even when he got the better of me. I went for several reasons. My wife said I needed the closure after listening to me speak often of Michael and his illness. Maybe that's true. I guess it was. But I just wanted to pay respect to the life of a man I admired and called friend. After watching the video tributes to Michael, listening to some his musical works and hearing words of love and praise to Michael and his entire family; I guess I did come away with closure of a sort. We all said a temporary goodbye to a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a friend to many. It wasn't sad, it was uplifting. It was love and praise for the earthly life of a man whose life and works touched and enriched the lives of many others. So...represent TGO and this family? Not intentionally. Just wanted to honor Michael Douchette. If I did so, in the grand scheme of things, I was glad to do so, and hope it was done well.
  10. My prayers for you.
  11. Wife has watched it way too many times. lol That and the Horse Whisperer are 2 of he favorite westerns. Of course, Redford has absolutely nothing to do with that.
  12. My dad was a fan as well. Being the time frame it was, and in an area that still had a few less "woke" people, Dad did have some colorful ways of expressing how he liked Charlie. lol Did you guys know that Steelharp (RIP Buddy) worked with Charlie several times. Played harmonica and steel guitar on several tracks. I apologize for not remembering which ones Michael told me once. I remember Dad having an 8 track of Charlie that he had in his old truck. Played it quite a bit. Back in those days I wasn't much of a country fan, but I did listen and sort of liked it. lol Well...age has given me a different outlook. lol Before Dad passed on, I became quite a country fan. Well, Charlie, May you Rest In Peace. And join in with Michael in the Heavenly Band.
  13. So your point is that one person should not be able to purchase any amount he or she can legally buy? If the statement is correct, this person is a "shooter" and saw that his needs and supplies might be cut off; so he prepared himself for that event. This is wrong? Do you have any "extra" ammo above and beyond your "reasonable shooting needs" stored away? And who decides what "reasonable needs are? No, I have to disagree with you on this. You probably, at least you should be, keeping a bit of extra foods and other supplies in your home. Who decides what amount of that is reasonable? YOU. So while I might envy a person's preparedness, I will not besmirch him for it.
  14. So very right on both counts here.
  15. Big Personalities. lol Is that code for jackleg idiots and asshats?
  16. Thanks for reminding me! Welcome to the madhouse!
  17. Anyone here go to the Memorial Service this morning? I did. Just wanted to go because it felt right to me. I got to meet Miss Lisa, and said a few of the usual things to her, almost crying as I told her how much he was loved and admired here. Also met Michael "My Marine" Douchette and a couple of the other kids. Sure I was just one among many offering kind words of support and rememberances. A beautiful sendoff for Michael. Full of music and joy.
  18. What are you trying to do...recreate the control room from "One Ping. One ping only please"?
  19. Wow! OK...I'm officially a wimp. I used them for 2 weeks then went to Tylenol.
  20. Thanks Omega and Pain103. I've wondered about it often. I see many on the roads during the year, but haven't had the misfortune to see one needing to be put down. I hope I never do, but sure don't want to see any animal suffer.
  21. Ok, now that Handsome Rob is covered, I have a question. Probably will sound silly, but I really don't know. Where would you shoot an injured deer? Still a heart shot?
  22. Yes, IIRC, Chuck was not to push the X-1. It was just to be a test run of the craft. I may be wrong, but I thought I heard him in an interview once say that he just thought...WTH let's do it! Which as I understand was pretty much his lifestyle. Chuch Yeager was one of my boyhood heroes. May he fly high with the angels forever.
  23. Ok, my "goof" post earlier was an attempt to get you one of these devices. I had one that was probably 10 years old. My wife used it on her knee, and I've used it for both of mine. I was planning on offering it to you, but my wife said the hoses from the motor pumping the cold water out were worn out and leaking. So she had discarded it when I was finished last time. I'm sorry to even have brought it up, but it is a very helpful device. Please ask around and see if you can borrow one. It will be worth the efforts. Ask the PT people if they can help you out. They might know of previous clients with one to lend. Good luck with the surgery. It's so old hat with the orthopedists now they can do it in their sleep. Be prepared to get up, or be gotten up, as soon as you wake in recovery and they think you are awake and aware. At least to stand or maybe a step or two. I think I was still half asleep when they pulled me up. Won't lie. It hurt. But the drugs at this point are so strong you will shrug it off. Don't try to "be a man" and refuse the pain meds. It will cause you pain! More than is necessary. Take them as offered. As frequently as they come around. If you stay overnight, every 4 hours seems to be the norm. At 3 hrs 45 min, call for them. It's for your good. You'll find it better in the long run. Doc and PT will try to get you off them soon enough. Recap: Take your meds. Do all the PT. Do at home on your own. Take meds as prescribed and on time. It does get better sooner than you might think. And last but not least...don't stop moving. Don't sit too long. You will not like the results. Ask me how I know. lol Prayers for you my friend.
  24. That's exactly what has happened to me. After my second TKR and completion of PT, I did slow down and eventually stopped home exercise. BIG MISTAKE! "Penguin waddle" says it all. I've started a new round of PT for some foot issues, and it has been amazing. My walk has improved by at least 50% in just a short time. But the downside is that my knees are throbbing considerable with the change in step and stride. So yes, keep up the exercising!
  25. Garufa...I never thought anyone would equal the consistancy of your humor. You have been DETHRONED by Capbyrd!
