The New Year Crude

Recommended Posts

I pride myself in never getting sick but here I am coughing my head off. Nose is just running water and I go between the chills and sweating like I'm hauling hay. At least it's not in my chest or anything.

Who else has got this crap in the new year.

I have had that same Sinus condition with pure water dripping and sneezing once in a while and going through 4 or 5 boxes of Kleenix a month from blowing my nose but don't have the chills or fever and except for the annoying sinuses I feel fine. I have been going through this for about a year.

Everybody at my house got sick a couple of weeks ago. It took about a week to get over the crud, so it was probably something viral like flu or coronavirus. I've learned to keep mucinex, benadryl, sudafed, advil, and robitussin on hand all the time to fight the symptoms, since docs can't do much when it's viral.

All mine have been really sick the past two weeks. My 17yr old son ran 104 for 4 days. My wife ran 102-104 for 3 days. I had it one night but man! I've never fever ached like that! Everyone has deep lingering coughs.

The wife and son got tested and everything came back as negative for covid, flu, etc.

My wife's an RN and when we were sick she was mostly concerned with whether we had a fever or not. If I understood correctly, she said that was a better indicator of RSV than flu/covid. Two families at church almost lost toddlers to RSV a couple of months ago. It's scary.

I've had it twice and I don't usually get sick but it didn't hang around too long. My wife is a regional manager for a home health company and visits several offices. She said all of her offices are having staffing problems because of so many out sick.
