Nashville Armory

Just an FYI for those of you who were considering visiting the Nashville Armory when they open. They will not allow you to shoot your reloads at their range. I was excited to have a nice range closer than what's currently available, but that just killed it for me.

Not a deal breaker. I wonder if it's an insurance thing? If so I totally understand.

I'm more concerned with the price of renting one of their full autos. $65.00

But you don't have to use their ammo for a rented gun, that could save some cash depending on how they are able to price match.

Hello All,

I'm one of the owners with the Nashville Armory.

1. Tricky Nicky is absolutely correct. This is an insurance issue. We have close to half a million dollars invested on the range side in steel, baffles, bullet trap, and targetry. The bank requires us to insure fixtures of that level expense against the risk of loss. The insurance company will not write a policy that covers reloads for a number of reasons, not least of which is that we can't be sure of the load from superficial inspection. Ergo, no reloads on the range.

2. You do NOT have to purchase our ammo to use the range.

3. You do NOT have to purchase our ammo to use our rental guns.

Thanks for letting me address these points. I hope to meet you all in the near future!

Thanks for the correction Brian. Could have sworn I saw something to that effect on the website but I could be, and probably am mistaken. I'll go back and edit my false information.

I for one am looking forward to the opening, being as I live right off I 65 just a few miles south, I'm sure I'll be in from time to time.

Good luck with your endeavor, you guys definatly have some guts opening such an expensive business with these political and economical times we are in.

Since we're on the topic of insurance, how feasible would it be for you guys to load your own store made reloads for use at your range? I know if a few places that do but never asked if they were covered for it or had to pay a premium for something like that. If you haven't already it may be something worth looking into for some of us frugal shooters.

I wouldn't really have a problem with the no reloads thing.

They can't guaranty the quality of your reloads. So I understand that completely.

The impressive part is that they will allow you to shoot your own ammo out of their rented guns, that is a huge boon right there. CCA requires you to use their ammo (at a 50% markup) in any of their guns.

The only indoor range I have up here has strict policies, no steel case, brass is theirs once it hits the floor, pay by the half hour, etc... They then turn around and sell my brass. I don't shoot there unless I have too. But I won't say that I haven't or won't again.

Been to plenty of ranges with these rules. It's actually the first one I've heard of that will allow you to use outside ammo in a rental so that is cool.

Do you have an estimate on when the doors will be open?

Their facility, their rules.

Very true, just making sure fellow reloaders were aware of their rules.

As far as them not being able to guarantee the quality of my reloads, they can't guarantee the quality of the Tula ammo I picked up from Walmart either.

I hope the store does well. I'll continue to shoot my reloads at Guns & Leather.

That's fair enough, Brian. In my case, ammo cost was a significant part of my choice go move more heavily into .45 ACP. Bad news that the insurance underwriters spoiled the party. I have 700 rounds of hand loads, and another 200 coming.

Any way you can get a recipe from those underwriters? If they know how to load .45 so it will tear up steel targets, I need to make some! :).

In the big picture, I think most folks shoot factory ammo. I doubt that it will dampen your success much. Good luck with the venture!
