  6. Lawyer or no lawyer, if this is what happened, you are going to have a very hard time justifying actions. Why?  It's very difficult to provide a reasonable explanation of how a handcuffed individual held inside of a secure correctional facility can pose a serious "security threat" by taking their hands off of the wall.  This tells me that one of three scenarios was going on here: 1) You had the inmate handcuffed in front, which is dumb, 2) the inmate was cuffed in the rear and had his back against the wall and could not pose much of a threat unless they were going to bite you or kick you, neither of which was described by you, or 3) the person was handcuffed, took his hands off of the wall, you got pissed and put hands on him because you felt your authority was being challenged, and now you are concocting this narrative to cover your bad decisions.  My vote is for option three because of the other points highlighted in red above.   Clearly, your co-worker felt the "security threat" actually came from you because they felt the need to physically restrain you and not the inmate.  I have worked around enough cops and corrections officers to know that they do not physically restrain a fellow officer unless they are completely out of control.  I believe you very likely were out of control at that moment due to your own statement about "F***ing up" your co-worker in a later debriefing.  The NYPD is known for their heavy-handed tactics - as you so eloquently state yourself - so I have little doubt that you used unjustified force against that inmate, and now you are paying the price for not following the law and policy.  I hope I am mistaken, but I'm confident I am not.

  8. Sorry but in this case, the enemy of my enemy is also my enemy. There are only a handful of Republicans I could in good conscience vote for and they all come from the wacko bird conference. If the Republicans stick with the establishment types, they will lose the folks like me again next time and every time. I won't speak for anyone else but I think most Republicans really don't understand how little credibility they have on the position of shrinking the government. Every election cycle they talk about it, but every budget or spending bill rapes the taxpayers or the taxes payers' children even more than the last one. My dislike and distrust of the Republican Party is to the point where sometimes it would seem that a Democrat would be a better choice under the premise that "it is better to have an honest enemy than a false friend". I dislike knives in my back and the Republican Party hasn't done anything other than stab the taxpayers in the back for many decades Edited to add: I thought a vote WAS a political statement? Plus, if the job is shrinking the government, the Republicans have more than 5 decades of track record showing they are not up to getting that particular job done, or even started.

  10. http://masonconservative.typepad.com/the_mason_conservative/2013/11/virginia-democrat-calls-for-forcing-doctors-to-accept-medicare-and-medicaid-patients.html   FYI last night at the Great Falls Grange debate, Democrat delegate candidate Kathleen Murphy said that since many doctors are not accepting medicaid and medicare patients, she advocates making it a legal requirement for those people to be accepted.   She did not recognize that the payments are inadequate to cover the doctors' costs.  She also did not recognize there is a shortage of over 45,000 physicians now and that it is forecast to be 90,000 in a few years.   Democrats appear to want to make physicians slaves of the state, but Democrats don't admit they would just drive more doctors out of practice into retirement and other occupations.  The Obamacare law and regulations are causing millions of people to lose their health insurance, drop many doctors and hospitals. The HHS internal forecast is 93 million Americans would lose their health insurance due to the Obamacare law and rules about adequacy of insurance.   Our government is going to enslave us all in time if we do not get out the VOTE!

  12. I voted yes because yes it should be legal. If I am hiking camping or in the mountains I should be able to carry any thing I want. If you are dumb enough to carry your AR into Walmart than maybe you should be shot. But it should not stop people who want to carry there rifle when outin the woods from doing so for fear of being harassed. Short story have a friend who was on his property with his AR he owns 90 acres that is bordered by national forest. He had a young forest service guy pull up on his property and ask him what he was doing with that rifle. He told him i am on my propery and it is my rifle why do I need a reason to be carrying it. The guy told him if I catch you on the forest service land I will take it from you. He told him you are right on both counts you will have to catch me and you will have to take it.

  13.   Obama won by a landslide. The people you speak of would not have made a difference. And even if Romney was in office I guarantee we would be in the same position.   Oh, and before you ask. Yes, I did hold my nose and vote for Romney. No, I won't do it again. If the Republicans don't come up with a respectable candidate I'll vote 3rd party or stay at home.

  14. There are always two sides to the story and the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Even the OP's version is questionable behavior so I am sure it was a lot worse in reality.     That one sentence is very telling. You say you can control yourself as you threaten a fellow officer.   Was the inmate handcuffed in the front or the back?   Also, were you fired or did you resign in lieu of being fired?   Not a FOP member?   The way I see it there have been enough people who have seen the case, as well as your mannerisms and demeanor, to say with great certainty that you should probably not have a HCP.   If you are being paid for providing security in TN you MUST have a guard license issued by the state of TN. Armed or unarmed doesn't matter but if it is armed you must have an armed guard license that requires a qualification with your carry weapon(s). If you get hurt you might be SOL because you were breaking the law at the time you were injured.      An inmate staring at you in NOT a reason to take them to the ground. An inmate taking his hands off the wall and staring at you is NOT a reason to take them to the ground. And we all know that taking someone to the ground is never done gingerly. If you worked in a hostile enviroment why did you not quit as soon as it became apparent. That allegation will get tossed out because it is obvious and allegation that it retaliatory in nature.   I am not deleting or locking threads to save people from themselves. If another mod wants to they can but David has unlocked several threads I locked at the OP's request.   I am trying to see fault in the process and I cannot. There is always the option of getting a HCP from another state.

  16. The reason there were so many European surplus guns is because War was the sport of Kings.  European countries went to war at the drop of a hat.  Weapons HAD to be stockpiled because no ruler wants an armed peasantry. Declare war on your neighbor...arm the farmers and city hoodlums and have at it.  when it's over collect the guns and get them ready for the next time.  America didn't work like that.  For the first hundred and fifty years we were hard to get at.  Our people were armed and very good at unconventional warfare.  And we were protecting us...not some petty tyrant.

Plenty of blame to go around it seems. 1)Idiot who brought loaded gun to gunshow to sell. 2)Person who checked the gun coming in (I'd cut a tiny bit of slack here). 3)Vendor who put a loaded gun on their table 4)Idiot who picks up gun off table and pulls trigger without checking. All four should have been put in stocks in the parking lot.

Yea, Constitutional Rights aren't really "rights" anymore if they've become nothing more than pay-to-play privilages that are constantly under threat of being further restricted, purposely mis-interpreted &/or even being out-right revoked. 26. My baby brother just got promoted to Chief Petty Officer in the Navy. I thought long and hard about what to get him to commemorate the occasion and came up with this. The first pic is the Chief Petty Officer's Emblem and the second pic is his rate (Explosive Ordnance Disposal Master Technician). The grips are Hogue Extreme Aluminium in matte black (26160). He carries a P226 for "work" so I thought he would enjoy these grips. The gun is mine for reference. I also need to give a shout out to Joe at Designz By You in Bell Buckle, TN for doing an excellent job on the laser engraving.

  27.   I guess that's accurate counting all registered voters? But regardless,  consider the larger stat -- something like 110 million who were eligible didn't vote.   The question though,  is whether it would have made any difference in the outcome if all of them were registered and also voted, seems likely to me that BHO would simply have won by a much larger margin.   - OS

  29. It’s laughable that the anti’s had something to do with this. How many loaded guns do you think they had to pass off before they found someone stupid enough to pull the trigger on an unchecked gun? Or were the anti’s people running around pulling the trigger on every gun they could get their hands on? No, I think it’s more likely some dumb azz just picked up a gun and pulled the trigger. We have to Police ourselves. It’s ridiculous to think that professional people at gun shows are allowing people to pick up guns and start sweeping the crowd. (I have never seen that at a gun show) That shouldn’t be tolerated; that should be followed by “Give me that gun back and get away from my table”. A kid big enough to pick up a scoped rifle should know better and if his dad gets all butt hurt about being dressed down in front of his kid; he needs to be shown the door.

New York, cops, body slams, this is one thread that doesn't disappoint at every turn. Seriously I would take TMF's advice and ask one of the mods to delete this before it turns into a 12 page mess. From the sound of it, it would be a good step in the right direction for your case. I'd also let your attorney know you are attempting to rouse supporters to help carry you through your battle with tyrant and oppression. It will make their job a bit easier to not get blindsided by your oppressors if/when they decide to bring this information in front of a judge.

  31. I am seeing a lot of the mindset the article references displayed here. The thought that the libertarian vote would belong to Republicans or conservatives if not for a third party candidate is just plain wrong. As a general rule libertarians and republicans don't agree on social issues. Where we do agree is on the stated fiscal positions of the Republicans like shrinking the size of government. The big problem is that the Republicans don't have any credibility when it comes to shrinking the size of government. Y'all talk a good game then expand it every chance you get, yes that includes Saint Ronnie Raygun. So why should we vote for a Republican if we have any other option at all?

  37. If you are a retired LEO, then why do you need a carry permit? Per federal law, retired LEOs are eligible to carry their firearms anywhere in the nation as long as they qualify annually. Are you talking about your license to carry as an armed security officer?

  38. Well...As stated I was there. It got me thinking. What if instead of posting all the signs saying "no loose ammo or loaded guns. No exceptions", they posted signs saying "lethal guns beyond this point. Please check that all firearms are unloaded upon handling at your own risk". I understand the desire of attempting to eliminate the handling/transfer of unloaded firearms. However, it seems to create a very large group of people (some of which may have never touched a firearm in their life), and tell them that all the firearms in that magical room are unloaded and safe. Pair that with someone who has never learned any firearm safety rules, and it eventually turns out like this. The allusion that all the guns are unloaded causes many to "forget" safety rules. 40. Deer Down! First one of the season. Bow kills are such a rush! She came out of the woods to the right a few yards south of the sunlight on the ground at about 27 yards. I shot her with my Bear Archery Legion and 100gr Muzzy's and had a complete pass through. Only hunted about 45 minutes before she showed up. Very thankful for this deer! 41. Throw blame around however you like, but the only blame I see is the idiot that picked up the gun and pulled the trigger. If it wasn’t for him the others mistakes would not have mattered. People whine if guns get checked at the door and whine if they don’t; but the reason for it is obvious.

  42. Every show I have ever been to they check our guns at the door to make sure they are not loaded. Sounds like someone dropped the ball at that show and could have cost someone their life.  If I pick up a gun on a table to look at , first thing I do is check and make sure it is not loaded. Just a habit I got into many years ago and still do today. Only someone with a few brain cells not working would just pick up a gun off a table and pull the trigger. Maybe a person that would do that does not need to own a gun...........jmho

  45. You make some valid points. Now, imagine for a second, as tired as you are of carrying the the burden of "white guilt", and you are assumed to have "white priviledge", consider how it feels to be a productive minority and always carrying the burden for less productive members of your race. This forum is filled daily with ignorant opinions about minorities from people who have little to no interaction with minorities. Their opinions are based on stories from family members, stereotypes and the advertising dollar driven news media. I'm not saying that lots of minorities don't deserve the rap that they get, but if the only burden than a white man has to be tired of is the the burden of being accussed of being privileged, then I would say that is a good burden to to have. I've explained before that my extended family covers the entire spectrum of the human race. We have features from the most beautiful blue eyes to the lambs wool hair of Jesus as described in The Bible and we all love one another. That being said, I will always maintain that MLK was correct when he stated that we should be judged by the content of our character. We know that the demographics of America are changing. In a few decades when people of color are the American majority will you want your decendants treated poorly based upon the perceived injustices that minorities feel were thrust upon them? Perception in most cases is reality. Something to ponder.

I strive to do business with a reputable honest business, preferably local but...   When a business establishment voluntarily goes crazy after a single incident and caves into hysteria, sentiment, emotion and the liberal mantra. By not honoring and canceling existing pre-paid firearms orders, making it difficult to get a refund, getting rid of their existing firearm stock, raising prices sky high and leading in the plundering of their customers.   I'll stand back and take a second look and see if these are the type of business's I want to support.
