This is me two years ago after hiking to the top of Angels Landing in Zion National Park in Utah. After hiking for about two miles and a 1500 ft. elevation gain I was rewarded with this outstanding view down Zion Valley. Not bad for a 60 year old. :pleased:5 points

Verbal threats are threating behavior. Being told to get back is being told to disperse. However, on your ride to jail I would explain to you that you and your attorney can make those arguments to the DA or in court.2 points

Outpost Armory has tons of .22 ammo on the shelf. I've been reluctant to mention it anywhere but here if fear that reselllers would happen upon it. I've already started seeing it for sale on some of the Facebook boards. Anyways, 50rd boxes of Fed American Eagle are $2.99, same brand but suppressor ammo (subsonic) $3.99 per 50rd, CCI AR ammo is $24 for a 300rd boc -Fed American Eagle are $2.99 per 50rd box -Fed American Eagle subsonic are $3.99 per 50rd box -CCI AR is $24 per 300rd box They have pretty much any flavor of CCI ammo that you can think of from high velocity down to subsonic but some of the prices aren't wonderful ($0.10 per rd) but about average these days. They have some Aguila and if I remember correctly it was priced around $0.10 per round as well. Of course they also had a vast selection of high end stuff but the price reflects it so?? They have a 1,000 round per person per day limit and can be made up of any combination. Just thought I'd let everyone know.2 points

My reasons exactly. I want these rights for everybody, not just those in society I disagree with. Reminds me of the old quote "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." Something to keep in mind with this scenario is "Knowing Your Operational Environment." It's an overused phrase in the military and an underused one in law enforcement, IMO. It's in those two cops interest to keep things calm on their side. If those onlookers are provoked into violence, the two cops are potentially screwed. They can't be sure they could shoot all the potential attackers (not sure exactly how many there were) before they would be overpowered and possibly worse. It's in the LEO's interest to keep a situation under control with a minimum of force on their side, and their restraint was as much for that reason as anything else. The female officer didn't go above an beyond anything, she did her job, and did it well. The crowd was being watched and handled while her partner dealt with the suspect. They left the scene with their suspect under cuff in the back of their cruiser without a further incident because they handled it correctly. If the onlookers went from making verbal threats to engaging the LEO's, the situation is completely different, but this situation didn't get to that. Instigation isn't interference, and threats require action for a physical response, IMO. Everything isn't hunkydory as you put it, but the onlookers aren't doing anything that necessitates the use force or arresting them. They never got between the officers and the suspect nor laid a hand on the officers, or even made an overly aggressive move. The female officer kept them at a distance between them and her partner. As I said above, job well done by her.2 points

For the same or less you can just snag a new 22/45 LITE with a threaded barrel. I wet that way over the PAC lite after reading about tehe face of the camber peening from our very own Dolomite Supafly. I like mine a lot. Very accurate and a great can host for my Guardian, they are almost the same circumstance so the look is very slick and it runs... like a Ruger rimfire, boringly reliable.2 points

TO EACH HIS OWN......but I was born in TN and have lived in GA 2 times. Last time was for 10 years. I hated the state income taxes (they still owe me over $1200 from 11 years ago and I had a check processed by the state of GA as proof it was paid and I never got the money back), the price for car tags and boat trailer tags, lawn mower trailer tags, gas is always higher than TN as well as all of my insurance. Moving back to TN was like a $15 an hour raise...LOL A herd of Clydesdale horses couldn't drag me back to GA.2 points

Yes, but rights apply to all of us. Even the most undeserving person. Even the person who abuses those rights the most. That's why most (all?) of the people you see defending them are doing so. Not because they agree with the behavior of the MENSA intellectuals you saw on that video, but because of the fact that those rights apply to each of us as well. The problem with cancers, to borrow your analogy, is that there's no good way to get rid of them without universally applying a poison that affects the healthy members of the body as well.2 points

I see several people who should have woken up in a hospital needing emergency surgery to remove a cell phone from their ass. Seriously... I just couldn't do that job. You guys keep that in mind the next time someone posts a "cop bashing" thread here on TGO. This is the sort of B.S. they put up with on a daily basis. If 9 out of 10 people you encountered in your job acted like those assholes, you would probably find it really hard to choke back the expectation that the 10th person was going to be any different. And for what it's worth, the blacks in the ghetto are just the most recent arrivals to the video everything the cops do party. Stupid ass white people started it during during protests and demonstrations, just HOPING to catch one cop at his wits end, finally going upside someone's head with a well-deserved baton or a boot. Freedom gives you a lot of things in this country, but one thing it SHOULDN'T is freedom from consequences. Those highly productive members of black society who were obviously just on a lunch break from their well-paying jobs at Edward Jones and Associates, clearly got lucky and missed the Consequences Bus that day. Martin Luther King must be rolling over in his grave. He died for THIS?!?2 points

I live on a little country road where we know everyone. There are a few neighborhood kids that ride bikes that live right across the road. My parents live next door and my 20 year old sister is home from college this weekend and thay tend to hang around a little more when she is home.... weird lol. One boy is around 13 and the other is 15 and their father owns guns and they have shot his before and they turkey hunt as well. Well I was out in the yard running a few cheap rounds of birdshot through my ol' Wingmaster when they came over on their bikes. I let them both shoot it. They told me about the 870 their father bought them. Anyway, they started asking different questions about types of guns and so on. So after a chat we went back over to my house and I got one of each out to show them. Shotgun, AR, AK, bolt rifle and a couple Glocks. I was explaining how each one worked and they were eating it up. They were asking some really good questions like how the AR cycles and the differences in shot sizes and so on. So eventually we ended up at the kitchen table with a small dry erase board and a marker. I would crudely draw it out on the board and then we would take each gun apart and I woukd show them which piece does what. They really learned something today and it made me feel good to teach them and them take it seriously. Those are some good kids. Gave me hope yet for the next generation.1 point

1.5 acres, my guess a pair of goats could keep that down all summer. My uncle had depending on time of your, 10 to 25 goats on about 25 acres (hill side). When he first got the goats there was so much brush you had to fight your way though it. They cleaned it up and kept it clean for years. With goats, don't get one, better have 2 as they get lonely and will cry if alone.1 point

The speed of sound changes with temperature as well as elevation. I have ammunition that I loaded in the summer that was subsonic. That same ammunition during the winter has a supersonic crack because of the cooler temperatures. I have started loading my ammunition to below 1,000 fps to make sure it will remain subsonic in the colder weather and even then some that are at 1,000 fps might crack from time to time depending on how cold it actually is. The speed of sound you listed is at sea level and 68 degrees. But when the temperature is 25 degrees the speed of sound is 1,079 fps. And at our elevation, ~1,000 feet, you can deduct another ~ 25 fps from that number. This is also why things seem to sound louder in the winter. Sound travels so much better in the winter. A lot of people cannot differentiate the difference between the sonic crack and the gun shot. Even suppressed a 223 seems really loud but a lot of it is because the sonic crack is bouncing back at you. It take 15-20 feet for the sonic crack to grow enough to be noticeable. This is why suppressors help those who are cleaning buildings. The bullets never go more than 15-20 feet so the sonic crack never develops. If you really want to hear how quiet your suppressor is shoot into a tree from ~10 feet. It will be loud but no where near as loud as the sonic crack of the bullet. And sonic cracks are the same regardless of the caliber. A supersonic 22 is going to have a sonic crack as loud as a supersonic 223. Now the 223 might sound louder but that is because it spends more time above the speed of sound. And there is an advantage to using a suppressor against live targets, especially with supersonic ammunition. If something is facing you, you fire and miss the target thinks the gunshot comes from the direction of the sonic crack. That is if a supersonic bullet passed by the right ear, even if they are facing the shooter, the crack sounds like it comes from the right because that is where the bullet passed. Or if a target is facing 90 degrees away and you fire in front of them the sonic crack will sound like it is right in front of them. I did not believe this until I tested it. No I did not have anyone shoot at me nor did I shoot at anyone else. My wife boards her horse and horses will generally run towards a gun shot to see what it is. So I shot a suppressed gun past them and they ran towards the bullet path rather than towards me. Subsonic is great but you can still hear where the shot came from within a certain distance (depending on caliber). With supersonic ammunition the sonic crack will likely mask the noise a suppressed gun makes when firing supersonic ammunition. I bought a CMMG 16" barrel and initially chopped it to 10". I then welded a tube onto the barrel to bring it to 16"+. My suppressor slid down inside the tube and threaded onto the barrel. After my SBR paperwork came back I cut it to 4.25" and then screwed up the thread job so I cut it back again in order to thread it correctly. It is a dedicated 22lr gun so I do not mind altering some stuff if need be. I do plan on putting a folding stock on it at some point. ALL ammunition will remain subsonic out of a 3.5" barrel. Even Stingers will remain subsonic. Stingers need barrel length to get to the velocity they claim and out of short barrels it will never get above the speed of sound. I chronographed them out of a 4.5" barrel and they would hover around 1,000 fps. But yeah, the 3.5" barrel will keep everything subsonic. I shoot a bunch of bulk pack and they are great out of that setup. And with my 30 caliber suppressor, rather than my 22 suppressor, all you hear is the action cycling and the hammer striking.1 point

I didn't see a thing wrong in that video from either the officers or the onlookers. I wouldn't agree with the demeanor or the language used by the crowd, but they have the right to be there, and say what they want to say. If their actions stepped over the line, there would be a need for consequences, but they didn't. I get that LEO's have to deal near exclusively with assclowns, but if they didn't know that going in, or can't handle it after doing the job for too long, they are free to quit. We pay them- that's right we pay them through our taxes- to behave professionally at all times. The officers in the video didn't demonstrate restraint to me, they did their jobs. As it should be every time. Also, the onlookers have the right to film the police officers. I have a live video streaming app on my phone for that purpose as well that uploads a video as it records, so I can access it later if my mobile happens to have an accident. You can be damn sure it gets turned on every time I encounter an LEO. It's for my personal protection, because quite frankly, I feel the need for that insurance, not because I'm for hoping to catch a cop doing the wrong thing. Thank all the officers who do the wrong thing for destroying my trust in the system.1 point

I'm going to get down voted for this, but the news is reporting that 3 french police officers responded, saw the terrorists were armed, and ran away from the scene. My grandfather served in WWII in Europe and his opinion of the french was very low, he always said he loved the french, best source of never fired, once dropped rifles. I guess sometimes stereotypes are true huh?1 point
