If they caught the right guy, I hope he doesn't make it to prison. As the father of two girls, I'll rent someone the woodchipper.6 points

I haven't touched a rifle this morning, but that's o.k. Little man got his first deer, a doe. 200+ yard shot. Of course my ol' pappy comes by with this monster 8 he killed this morning. Despite the hot weather and gale force winds here, it's been a good morning. Time to make the jerky! :no1: I took off work next week, so maybe I'll get to hunt then.5 points

As I have read in many other posts in this section, glasses are a key part of or survival preparedness in any situation. I try to keep a spare set in the truck, my BOB and one at work. As anyone with glasses knows this can get expensive, and if you are talking about the long haul in hazardous situations you need multiple pair. I recently purchased a pair of glasses from Zenni Optical. The price was $76.78 with the best lenses, best coating, nice frames, two sets of clip on sunshades and all the bells and whistles. This would have cost me over 300 at Wally World. I was skeptical, but when they arrived, I could see great out of them and they have held up to my 2 year old wearing them. $76.78 is still a good chunk of change if you want 4 pair as back ups, so I logged on and bought a pair for as cheep as I could. This was the result. I had a pair of glasses shipped to my house for $16.85 that I can see great out of. If would have bought multiple pairs at one time shipping would have been the same. I you need to add to glasses to you survival preparedness supply, or just buy new glasses, I highly recommend Zenni optical. Full disclosure, their factories are located in other countries, but if I am in a situation where glasses will no longer be made, I need to be able to see.3 points

For those close to or traveling through the Huntsville area Larry's Pistol & Pawn in Huntsville is selling Remington Golden Saber in 9MM, .40 S&W, .45 Auto and .357 Magnum for $9.99 per box. Grabbed 10 boxes earlier today and with sales tax the cost for 10 boxes of Golden Saber was $108.89. After the $100 Remington Rebate the cost for 250 rounds of defensive ammo is $8.89...hard to beat that!!! (PS - There is a 10 box limit per customer)3 points

Local talk is that he wasn't in it alone. I hope they get everyone involved. A public hanging would be ideal, but won't ever happen today. This guy can't be dead enough quick enough for me.3 points

I tagged my second buck at 730 this morning. Thought he was an 8 point but he is missing a brow tine. The Lord has blessed me this season with 3 does, a 9 point and now this 7. Hate that I can't buck hunt anymore but I'll try to get my boy on his 1st deer and take a few does with the 6.8spc AR15.3 points

Some genius pulls up in my driveway, headlights shining in my bedroom window, in a loud diesel pickup, revving the engine. I get up, put on my pants, stick a pistol in my pocket, and go out to introduce myself to this genius. About halfway there, he must have decided he needed to be somewhere else in a hurry. Now I was in the mood to have a frank conversation with this guy, but I guess this was the best outcome that could have happened. I figure it was some kids with a few too many beers, but what are parents teaching their children these days? This would have gotten your windshield perforated at a lot of peoples' homes. I'm about to give up on humankind. :shake:2 points

Don't worry about which way the wind blows, do like me, I keep them all in my stable: 9mm, 40, 45, 357Sig, 10mm. I'm not a wheel man, or I would have 38SPL, 357Mag, 44, etc. This way I am covered whatever side of the bed I wake upon.2 points

Well the new Sharps 25-45 Rifle did not fail me today but I need to go to the range more we have been watching this 5 point all season he would never get close enough for a shot but today he came in the same way he has every time I've seen him pulled up on him and he never slowed down i had the power set wrong on my optic shot and missed he turned and went back the direction he had came for about 30 yards then headed right toward where i was set up at a trot adjusted my optic to where it needed to be led him just a little bit shoot again missed to much lead he never changed his speed set up again shoot #3 was a hit right in the right front shoulder broke his leg but did not end him had to take a fourth shot in the neck so we got these geans out of the pool hope everyone had a good day and be safe in the morning2 points

most of the small 380s have nearly identical recoil. The sig seems to be slightly lower and I have no idea why. slightly bigger ones like bersa are much more comfortable without going full sized 9mm. This size fits a pocket but not as well; I carried nearly the same thing as a Makarov for a decade in my pocket. "Most" gun store sellers have a hangup when selling anything to women. A healthy woman can shoot anything a healthy man can with a few exceptions for exceptionally large showpiece guns. Since you are not talking about those today, the only other issue is the trigger pull. I can't pull the heavy triggers on some of these pistols, so watch out for that. If you can't pull it easily, allowing for back to back shots to empty the mag in about 1 second per shot, then its too heavy or too long or both and in my PERSONAL opinion not good enough for defense. If you watch out for those 2 issues, let her decide the rest for herself and ignore (politely) any "steering" your gun seller tries to pull.2 points

I'd say the 9mm supply/demand has shifted in favor of the consumer (at least in the short term)2 points

I've never been much of a runner even when I had to, but I do go for walks on a daily basis and my daughter (2yrs) is a ball of energy that needs another ball of energy to keep her company and run each other ragged until they both pass out. We're also wanting a dog that can both be a pet and a protector, and will take us on as its "pack" and bond well with the family. After speaking with MrsMonkeyMan's friend last night, we are very interested in meeting the dog she has in mind. I just dig meeting cool dogs (preferring them to people most of the time, lol) no matter whether we're taking in a new family member or visiting, so it's a trip I will be glad to make. The big sticking point for us is what the dog thinks of our daughter. I really need the dog to protect her and love her as if she were one of her pups. Too soon my daughter will be wanting to run around and play in the yard and I really want a dog that will watch over her and keep her safe.2 points

I sold my first bottle of Van Winkle tonight. I have stayed out of it. But I have a customer who seeks me out about every week and asks if we have any Elmer. I always tell him no and we chuckle. I keep telling the guy to keep on asking as some day it will show up. He then buys something else. Tonight he showed up and asked about Elmer. I told him no but thanks for coming in. And told him if he wanted I had a bottle of 12 year old Van Winkle for him, if he was interested. He grabbed his chest and took a step back. It was sort of funny. Was happy to sell it to him. He also bought a handle of Jack. Told me he could not wait to take a pic and text his buddies about what he got. It made tonights shift fun.1 point

Your lucky the headlights shine in your room. My driveway is about 1/4 mile long, up a semi mountain, with tight turnaround. I finally broke down and purchased two of those driveway alert systems. They work great. The reason for two, I have one at the entrance, and then one 1/2 way up. This way if both alarms are triggered, then its legit. Already been awoken to many of a deer or something triggering just one, but not two. I have a spot light and shortgun and AR waiting for the two alarms in the middle in the night. At least they will see that what I have.1 point

Sometimes I wonder just how some of these ATF people find their way home at night after work. These are the people that are suppose to be up to date on fire arms and yet can make some of the most stupid statements ever. It just shows their ignorance to what they actually do know and yet these are the people we are suppose to learn from............ :shrug:1 point

Just "accidently" buy a different caliber and replacement parts for a RIA 10mm and say "since we already have the parts..." Im at the end point now since I almost have too many calibers to reload for in volume. I've ordered enough to not worry about running out. My ammo coming from freedom is pistol ammo. We ordered our rifle ammo from SG and Midway. Monkey had specific requirements. I'm itching to go get some time in with my underwood. Can't wait to run some through my 20 & 29!1 point

Interesting discussion guys! Currently looking at the Remington 700 or Ruger American w/ Redfield scope for a .308 bolt-action. People keep telling me to look at Savage, though, I have to admit... my curiosity is piqued! - K1 point

OS you could be on to something about Lucky Gunner Ammo, This article from Colorado, see link below, says that Lucky Gunner Ammo was sued by one of the parents who lost a loved one in the Colorado shootings awhile back. The article reads that the street address on Cedar Bluff road actually is the UPS store. There is more: >Lucky gunner LLC is the parent firm of www.bulkammo.com which has a warehouse in Atlanta and is the actual seller of ammo to the shooter. >Five people are listed on the most recently available public records of Luckygunner officials: Jordan Mollenhour, Dustin Gross, Jeffrey Felde, Coleton Bragg and Craig Meredith. >The principal office street address of Luckygunner LLC lists on its corporate records is that of the UPS store on North Cedar Bluff Road, Knoxville. >Luckygunner lists as its mailing address a New York City post office box number. >2012 annual report lists Jeffrey Felds as an officer of the company with the NY city post office, and his name is the only name that appears on the Knox County business license. >Secretary of State lists these affiliated companies to Luckygunner: Bulkammo.com; Ammo.net; AmmoForSale.net; Gunsforsale.com; Military Ballistics Industries and LuckySurvival.com Draw your own conclusions, is this a bonafide Knoxville business with offices, warehouse, and good ole Tennesseeans working? They do have a help wanted section on their site that states this is a Knoxville location, btw that help wanted has read the same for years. Their Terms of Conditions of Sale sure does list all legal matters must be settled in Knox county. Volphin, This sounds like a problem that can be addressed. Here is how I would do it. Fortunately, you bought it from a manufacturer with good customer service. I would send a letter via USPS to Dennis Reese, CEO of Springfield Armory. In so many words, I would say I feel that SA takes pride in producing quality products and that I felt comfortable investing in one as my primary carry pistol for self defense. I would explain what the problem is very clearly and not use abbreviations like FTF and FTE. I would let him know that I have sent it back to the factory twice and that both times it has come back without the problem being solved. Next I would say that I want to feel good about my purchase and would greatly appreciate his help in resolving the issues. Now, a couple of points. Notice that my verbiage wasn't angry or threatening - it was complimentary, let him know I have an issue and asked for his help. Next, I would suggest getting someone else to read your description of the problem to make sure it makes sense. I say that because I have a customer going live with a new solution. Over the past two days, he has brought three issues to me he isn't happy about. He didn't write the email in a manner that clearly explained what the problem was. I took action to find out what he needed, though many folks won't. My expectation would be that your letter will cause a couple of cans of whoopass to get opened on folks up there and that they will fall over themselves to get it fixed. This is an area I know a lot about and I feel sure it would result in a weapon you feel good about, or feel like you can sell with a clear conscience.1 point

I have decided I am too lazy to hunt anymore. Being the last day of ML season I decided I would take my ML to work with me today and attempt an afternoon hunt after work. Well as soon as I got off work I see two does feeding towards the spot I was going to hunt. I slipped down there and watched them feed about 60 yards away. Decided I didn't want to clean a deer or my ML tonight so I just came home. I am a sad excuse for a hunter. LOL1 point

I love me some Pappy, but for the price its Christmas bourbon...some nights you just have to slum it. Chicken is on the big green egg, fire is going, cigar is lit, and music is playing. Unfortunately my kid pooped in the tub so I chose to say I needed to "monitor the grill" and slum it with a garage pour of Wild Turkey and diet coke as opposed to risking going inside for some of the good stuff. Yes, yes. And when American companies stop hiding behind the "Made in America" tag, and start building quality products....people buy them. I buy the best products I can find.....it's too bad Anerican companies don't make more of them. Ruger.........what Bill Ruger did to our 2A rights should never be forgotten.
