  1. It has arrived! It has arrived! It has arrived! Actually, it arrived Friday 7-13-18. Now, as soon as I get the mounting screw hole counter-boared the same as the old one, I can install it. Looks like the old one is counter-bored about a quarter of an inch...possibly 3/8", and the new one is much smaller. It needs this counter-bored shoulder for the stock screw washer to seat on. Finally! I won't be shooting it... I'm putting the new stock on it and selling or trading it. I really like .22 Hornets. Maybe I can find something in .22 Hornet that will bring me enjoyment.

  2. I actually owe Blackburn one. Back when my wife got too sick to work, she was having fits trying to file for Social Security Disability. The system is actually set up to frustrate you to the point of giving up. Filling out the same forms over and over again. And then they lose your file! She called Blackburn's office and explained the situation to a nice young man there who said they would look into it. 30 minutes later the SS office called my wife. They had miraculously found her file and from that point on her disability claim was processed without any further problems. Blackburn may not be the greatest legislator in Washington, but she does care about her constituents. BTW: one of the problems we face is that too many conservative people have given up on the system and don't vote. Liberals not only vote, they bus people to the polls. This is how we lose. Your vote does matter! USE IT!

  8. I like most of the ideas. The executionof them is a little flawed however. If they could get the items moving and keep trump from tweeting or talking it would be so much better. After all it triggers some folks whenhe does not speak likethree stuffed shirt elite they complain zealot all the time. I am still scratchingmy head over that but of ironic hypocrisy.

  9. If it's possible, consider renting a place for a year before buying a home, to see if you really like an area (easier than moving!) When we were looking to move down here, we visited several times, and even put an offer in on one place (never worked out). Glad it didn't, as we ended up on the other side of town. We have now purchased land and are building a house, but 45 minutes away from where we first started shopping. Now that we've been here 3 years, I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

  10. Interesting news here; the normally anti-freedom Ninth Circuit has upheld an lower court's injunction against enforcing California's ban on magazines holding more than 10 rounds. http://reason.com/volokh/2018/07/17/second-amendment-injunction-against-cali Plus there's this -- But the deciding vote on the panel, in favor of upholding the lower court's decision protecting Second Amendment rights, was cast by a judge who sits in Manhattan, was appointed by President Clinton, and is said to have been "the nation's first openly LGBT, African-American federal judge." Hope springs eternal, Whisper

  12. He was tactically sound in engaging when he did, didn't look like a busy area, his weapon was trained right at the driver/passenger area and apparently was enough to bring the pursuit to and end. Great Job! Go home to the family and take a breather.

  13. Heller vs. District of Columbia dissenting opinion written by Kavanaugh Long but interesting read which gives an insight of the 2nd Amendment thinking of Kavanaugh http://lawofselfdefense.com/law_case/heller-v-district-of-columbia-670-f-3d-1244-us-app-d-c-2011/

  14. No worries Tiff, but as we all know on the web we just have to be careful that people don’t see a “snapshot in time “and make invalid assumptions based on something they don’t have any first hand knowledge of. But having said that , I’m glad you got the shot of “Hi I’m Randy and I’m going to gut punch you”.

  16. Hey gang... I've often compared my role in a forum to that of a Grounds Keeper. What I am good at is keeping things looking nice and making sure the lights work and the doors open. The real life-blood of any community is the people who come and participate. An important element of that is having good Moderators and we have some openings! When I think about what a Moderator should be, it's someone who is engaging and likes to stir up conversation. It's also someone who can help steer conversations back on topic, or guide conversations to another "room" when it is appropriate to do so. Some folks might think of Moderators as being grumpy bus drivers who ride herd over a bunch of unruly kids, screaming "Fun isn't allowed on the bus!" but that isn't the role I like to see moderators take. If we get there, we've done a lot of other things wrong along the way. While a bouncer at the door may be necessary on the rarest of occasions, what we really need are concierges who help keep things moving. Maybe you're the kind of person that folks naturally gravitate toward in crowds of people. Maybe you're the one who always seems to be surrounded by good conversation, and can talk about pretty much anything. If your friends and family accuse you of being able to talk the paint off the walls, you're probably the person I am talking about. So if that's you, or if you just have a serious desire to help out and always seem to know how to get an answer for folks even if you don't know what it is personally, I could really use your help. In addition to the fame and entourage of good-looking people always following you around, moderators receive full "Benefactor" perks for free for as long as they're on staff. Just kidding about the entourage. Send me a private message if you'd like to be a Moderator here on TGO! (<-- that whole thing is a link. Click it!)
