Yea, he was the one everyone else in the family gave up on and said he would never amount to anything except his Grandpaw. He developed ADHA at age 3 and became a holy terror and was out of control a lot. The doctors finally put him on Ritlin and at age 5 he was almost zombie like. He had a doctors appointment and I told my daughter I was going with her. She had her say and the doctor said there was no other treatment and I got my time with the doctor and I asked him if he ever actually spent time talking to him or was it easier to just shove pills at him. That kind of caught the doctor off guard. Someone was challenging him decision. At first he wanted to argue but he thought better or it. He instead took Matt into his office while I sat there and actually talked with Matt and found out Matt could carry on a conversation for a 5 year old. The doctor wrote a different prescription. With in about 2 weeks we could see a difference in him. He didn't get mad at everything he was told to do such as pick up his toys and when he did I told my daughter to whip his butt but just enough to get his attention and tell him he is going to listen to you when you talk to him. I also told her not to every yell at him. He is my step daughter's son but I claim all them as my kids. Any way Matt was able to go to school and maintain a normal grade level. He had a little sister and a little brother. Because of his ADHD he is considered handicap but they have advanced so much with it since he was young all he needs now is 1 shot a month and he lives a normal life. He got s scholarship and went to a Technical College and now works in Computer Technology. So yea, it was tough going when he was first diagnosed with it but by my never giving up on him the rest of the family was not allow to and it turned out alright.4 points

The notion is that since the .380 is as powerful and accurate as shooting spitballs into the wind that you have to be close enough to smell the BG's breath before it's worth using. And then you're better off just asking them nicely to stop, because the bullets might just bounce off and that'll make the BG even more angry. As opposed to a .45, in which case the BG spontaneously vaporizes before you clear the holster.3 points

A brand new LCP is selling for under $200. I've seen them as low as $180 I think. I can't see any purpose in trying to sell a gun that would only bring in maybe $175 used. Keep it, you never know when you might be in a position that requires deep concealment.3 points

When a little more discretion is called for, I reach for one of my .380s. I happen to like them and feel that they are adequate for self defense. I don't have any experience with either of those, but if you like 'em, keep 'em. I also a big believer in never selling a gun you don't have to.3 points

Back about 6 months ago or a little longer my grandson gave me a Samsung 7 smart phone and sad he put the easiest program to operate in it so I would have a smart phone. Well so far the phone is still smarer than Grandpaw in many cases. Today he just called me to tell me Friday he is bringing me his old Laptop Computer cause he just bought a new one. He asked me what program I am using on my desk top and I told him Windows 7 and he said ok cause that is what is on it. So either Friday or Saturday I will e going higher tech than I am now. He said he will put any programs I want that are on my desktop and it will all be at my fingertips and I would not need a mouse to operate it. I told him I like using a mouse and he ask if i had an extra one and I said yes so he said he will put in on the lap top if I want it on there just by plugging it into a USB port. But he said I might want to use the finger first and see if I like it. So like I said I will be higher Tech this weekend. Will be a nice backup if my desk top ever had to go into the shop anyway. He said the laptop will also be much faster also...............2 points

This has been the exact reason I have not ditched my LCP. Sure there may be some 9mm pistols that are "similar" in size, but I have not run across any that are small enough to be considered a replacement for the ultra concealability of the LCP.2 points

Shoot Point Blank had a sale over the weekend that I couldn't pass up. Haven't gotten it to the range yet.2 points

If you like them and shoot them well, keep them. I have an LCP and i like it. The convienence of a pocket pistol is hard to beat. I also have a Shield and it's significantly bigger. Some can pocket carry them, but us normal sized people can't pull that off. Or more accurately, can't pull it out. The Shield will fit in my pocket, but it's really hard to get back out. I belt carry it.2 points

I'd be hard pressed to get rid of my LCP if I didn't have to. It's not what I carry the most, but sometimes It's all I can carry. I think a little pocket pistol is a must have tool in the tool box.2 points

Just wanted to throw out a big huge CONGRATULATIONS to 5 guys who have been students of mine in the past who achieved either Dark or Light Performance Pins this past weekend at Gabe White's Pistol Shooting Solutions class in Waverly TN. These guys all post here too from time to time so I also look at it an achievement for the whole TGO community. While I can't take all the credit for their performances , I hopefully at least inspired them if nothing else to work hard to improve their skills and struggle for perfection. So congrats to Miller_Man, Chances R , Aqil, Taylor, and Byrl (not sure as to his handle on TGO) You guys ROCK and make me proud. Keep up the good work. For those not familiar....http://www.gabewhitetraining.com/performance-awards/1 point

I have never understood that either. A 22LR such as my Phoenix can be a get off me gun and it will kill you dead too yet so many folks won't give credit to the 380 Calibers. I think it might be a "Macho Thing" You know, "go ahead and shoot me cause you only have a 380 and then I will shoot you with my 45 cal type thing!!!1 point

I don’ t understand the difference between a gun used to “get the bad guy off me” and a gun used to neutralize a threat, but these are apparently two different things.1 point

I assume by treatment you mean daily insulin injections? Ask your vet about Rimadyl, maybe Meloxicam, for the hips. Both of those will help with the joint inflammation to a degree, which should help with the discomfort.1 point

Keep trying the PB Blaster. Put a torch to the receiver adjacent to the screw, not the screw itself. Heat until the oil starts to smoke. Try a manual impact driver. Repeat the oil/heat/impact cycle several times. It'll come out. And don't burn the house down.1 point

I don't think the .380 is designed to be a "manstopper" . I carry a Ruger LCPII .380 and to me it is my "get the hell away from me" gun. Lord forbid if I ever have to use it but if I did , to me , it is the gun to get the bad guy to stop doing bad stuff and to get off of me so that I can get to a safe place. I don't expect it to me a "manstopper" . I love the Ruger LCP , so easy to throw it in my pocket to go to the autoparts store , or anywhere without using a belt and holster.1 point

In some cases, yes. However, the majority of the receivers the Finns recycled into their rifles came from either weapons left by the Russian army upon their withdrawal from Finland during the Russian revolution, or by purchases of Russian arms from various European countries which had been either supplied by Russia prior to WWI or captured during that conflict. Relatively few were taken by force by the Finns during the Winter war or the Continuation war ...1 point

Lots of good shooting left in that one as long as it doesn’t come apart.1 point

How 'bout a gift certificate to a local gun store? That way he can pick out what he wants. Welcome to the forum!1 point

It's really not that hard, did mine in 30 minutes or so, and that was packing the grease in by hand. Those little gizmos like from harbor freight and other places can make it less messy. And bearing buddies are worth their weight in gold IMHO.1 point

Sell em and get a Glock 43. Most handguns suck at being manstoppers, but .380s are especially lousy. Unless you are 5’3/112 lbs, you can hide the 43 just about anywhere you can hide a .380.0 points
