I had to work this past weekend so just catching up. It looks like everyone is staying busy and doing quite well! Interesting concept Jon! Thank you for the vid. I might give this a shot. Much obliged my friend. Those are beautiful flower @Ronald_55! Healthy looking plants! Welcome @I40Bandit! Awesome blueberries and peppers! We're going pepper heavy this year as well and actually plan to cut and pickle some peppers this afternoon. We planted El Jefe and Jalafuego peppers (seeds from Johnny's) this year. They are supposed to be pretty hot...not Ghost pepper hot, but spicy Jalapeno type hot....we're hoping. I "re-purposed" an old picnic table we got for free about a dozen years ago into a deep "Herb bed" type raised bed per the boss'lady's instruction. It's about 6 foot long and deep enough it took 12 bags of garden soil and 2 bags of Moo-Nure to fill it. I transplanted the rosemary (that just won't die...) from last year into it and of course added another tomato plant just 'cause. But what I'm really interested in is planting some Harlequin mix carrots this fall. We've grown them before and they are Tasty and produced well. Pretty cool having blue, purple, and yellow carrots too! Our cukes are growing like mad and competing for space. That's always an issue with raised beds I reckon LOL. But they are loaded with blooms and setting cukes like crazy. Guess we'll be making some Kosher dills as well. I definitely need to put in another 8 foot bed... Our 2 little fig trees are loaded with fruit. I'll probably need to toss a net over them (again) if I plan to eat any of 'em...the birds love them! Unfortunately...4 points

It is demonic forces. No I am not kidding. Just look at some of the news headlines from around the state. Things like folks beating toddlers to death, starving them, men beating their pregnant wives or girlfriends and killing her and the unborn child. The devil and his demons at work. Look at some of the mugshot pictures and tell me they aren't possessed. Granted alcohol and drugs may be involved, but they look demonic to me.3 points

Well some of my potatoes are blooming. A little crowded, but hopefully will produce a good bit. I forgot how pretty the blooms are.3 points

@Steelharp I miss the sr9c I bought from a buddy because he needed the funds. I agreed he could buy it back thinking he never would. Took about a year, but he came up with the money.1 point

A young girl or a 12 yr old boy can kill you just as dead as a 21 year old solider.1 point

You can't trust anything you see or hear or read on the internet. Or (almost) anywhere else, for that matter. This is a P.T. Barnum-type scam.1 point

Guys, its Memphis. People shoot each other there all the time for no reason whatsoever. If you've ever driven the interstate around Memphis, you very quickly learn what road rage is. Terrible traffic, idiot drivers and there's always a construction zone making things even worse somewhere. I'm surprised there aren't more shootings than one a week. Just another day in the big city.1 point

Just got my order from Brownells who recently started offering a shipment of Romanian TT-33C's from M&M. There were listed at $219.99. End result, $199.99 to my door for a numbers matching arsenal refinished TT-33....heck, I may need another one. The one I received was all numbers matching, original star grips in perfect shape, lanyard magazine, and a great barrel. The arsenal finish was a re-blueing, but it was not as nice as some. Part of that had to do with the fact this gun had a lot of surface metal variation from areas which showed heavier sanding or wire wheel marks without being smoothed over before it was dipped. Also they didnt flush grind the extractor pin as with the original guns. Final product is a bit splotchy up close or under the bright lighting, but considering its surplus its good overall. Their site is not currently set up to handle someone with an C&R, just ship to FFL1's. So I called and was quickly transferred to a very nice compliance person. I let her know they are C&R guns and I wanted to buy if I could have it sent to me. She verified with her one up that was OK (my C&R was already on file with them for the discount). But she would have to enter it. I asked about using their current $20 off $200....tried it, and it was all good. Being an edge member, I get free shipping and no gun xfer fee (normally $10). If you have that set-up, well worth picking one or two of these up.1 point

Beware civil immunity is available as long as you are not negligent and act reasonably. Additionally your case has to be ajudicated not simply dismissed. You will still be held accountable for each round you fire and what damage is done.1 point

Federal agencies are somewhat dependent on contractors for work like that. Has the benefits of being cheaper than a federal employee, and keeping the numbers of federal employees artificially low since numbers of contract employees aren't really tracked. The downside is you're getting what you pay for with the cheap accountability circumventing method.1 point

They drive around without their seat belt on too, and that doesn't stop them from writing tickets for it.1 point

Seasons and limits have gotten a lot more restrictive in the last 20 years. And, while there is a bit of dissonance between recreational and commercial regulations, overall those limits are a good thing. We’re catching more, bigger fish all around. Yes, we put many back so they can grow, but my freezer is full of better fish. We regularly catch redfish that are way over the upper limit on the slot - 34-35” fish aren’t uncommon. You didn’t see that 20 years ago. The fish we *maybe* caught then were well below the now 18” low end of the slot limit. I get it that it’s frustrating to not be able to keep that red snapper when it doesn’t line up with the week you’ve got for your vacation - but, we’re definitely better for the limits and good fishery management.1 point

Once again we are trying to legislate stupidity... Another race to the dimmest person out there. I want to see a law that says for every new law they have to eliminate 5 old ones. Or better, how about a law that says if it hasn't been cited in 5 years it is null and void.1 point

I'll add a few. I was just thinking about a thread like this the other day. 1. If you've not subscribed to Shooter's Nation - David has done a great job with this new effort. He can chime in here about the amount of work it takes to do a weekly podcast beyond just gathering the content, but it's a huge lift and he's done a great job. 2. Cocaine & Rhinestones - this was a commitment, but I really enjoyed the later episodes - especially the one on Doug and Rusty Kershaw. Also, if you're just going to listen to one - listen to the Wynonna one and you'll come away wondering how either of the Judd girls are still standing. 3. In the Dark (Season 2) - In my opinion this is the best podcast since season one of Serial - including season one of serial. It's great. And, following the podcast, the Supreme Court has taken up the case. 4. Farm to Taber - a bit of an odd choice, but this is a thoroughly enjoyable podcast on modern agriculture from a doctor of plant medicine out of North Carolina. 5. Atlanta Monster - this one probably messed up my world more than anything I listened to in 2018. It's about the Atlanta child murders that happened between 1979 and 1981. And, as someone who grew up in Atlanta during this time - if you asked me to draw a picture of the boogeyman, it would probably still look kind of like Wayne Williams. Fast forward 40 years - and they interview a bunch of victims' families who not only do they not believe that Wayne Williams didn't kill their son - they don't believe he killed anyone. Crazy. The podcast will leave you with as many questions as answers - and Williams is not a reliable narrator. But, it's a good listen. 6. Up and Vanished - by the same folks as Atlanta Monster - this follows the case of the murder of Tara Grimstead - a teacher in south Georgia who happens to be my same age. The podcast actually prompts renewed attention by the GBIU and results in two arrests 7. Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls - follows the stories of some historical women of accomplishment. My kids really enjoy this podcast 8. How I Built This - this is with the guy who does Ted Radio Hour - interviewing founders of companies you know. Start with the first one, where he interviews Sara Blakely the creator and founder of Spanx. 9. Make me Smart - this is probably my single favorite regular listen. It's from Kai Ryssdal and Molly Wood of Marketplace just discussing economics and issues of the week in real time. 10. Left, Right, and Center - nuanced political discourse without screaming. 11. The Promise - from WPLN here in Nashville - on several national top 10 lists this year. An in depth look at public housing in a growing city - specifically the James A. Cayce homes here in Nashville. It's short - maybe 6 episodes. There's a major plot twist in the middle. Well worth a listen I could add a few more - but unless you're on the road a lot over the holidays, this is a bunch of listening.1 point
