  2. https://wreg.com/2018/11/12/veteran-died-with-no-family-so-other-vets-showed-up-for-funeral/ NASHVILLE — The Tennessee community came together Friday to make sure an unclaimed veteran would not be forgotten, according to WTVF. Large crowds turned out on a rainy morning to pay their respects to Leo Stokley, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He died Sunday at the Waters of Cheatham in Ashland City. He was 69 years old. Stokley served in the United States Marine Corps and did a tour of duty in Vietnam. After his passing, he had no family to attend his funeral. That’s when the community stepped in to make sure he wouldn’t be buried alone. Hundreds of veterans and their friends and family showed up to show respect for Stokley. The push for help started among veterans groups on social media and was quickly shared during the week before the funeral. “It’s very heartwarming to see this many veterans and friends of veterans that show up here on a cold, rainy day, a weekday, to send him off in style. I’m proud for that. I’m proud for these guys that did that.” said Bob Counter, an Air Force veteran. He was laid to rest at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Nashville.

  3. Thanks Whisper. It was an excellent class and a good time was had with a great group of students. If you're thinking about getting NRA Instructor ratings or other training, give us a look. Thanks, Aq

  4. Just my opinion but I tend to think these are a waste of money. When I bought my last truck the dealer was pressuring me pretty hard to get an extended warranty because the factory warranty only covers 3 years/36k miles. I told him that if he felt I needed the warranty that bad when I hit mile 36,001 then I should probably go buy a different brand of truck. He didn't find it funny but he shut up. gotthegoods, you mentioned that this is a good option if repairs exceed ones budget, and I think that's absolutely the wrong way to look at things. When someone shops for a vehicle they need to keep in mind not only the purchase price but also fuel consumption, collision insurance and repair needs. If I can't budget for future repairs on my truck maybe I should get a smaller (cheaper) truck or a car. My wife and I have a car fund that we put the equivalent of a car payment into monthly along with any tax returns we get each year. We get to collect interest on this account and have it on hand should an emergency arise, but usually it's used for things like new tires or vehicle repairs as they come up. We do this religiously and have been able to save for each of our last two vehicles and buy them outright. We are not wealthy and probably never will be, but this methodology has saved us a ton of money over the years. The hardest part for most people is being able to wait while they save, as they want the big shiny thing now. The other part is being willing to get ones hands dirty and get outside their comfort zone. I'll be the first to admit that a transmission or engine swap on any of my current vehicles is outside my scope of skills, and I would begrudgingly have to take it to a shop for that level repair, but it's easy to save a ton of money on most repairs with some YouTube videos and a basic set of tools. I replaced both front hub bearings on my car for $96, the shop wanted over $900. High pressure lines on my wife's van, bought part for $51 on Amazon installed myself with a lot of cursing, the shops wanted $500-700. Watched videos and repaired sliding door on wife's van with no parts needed, shop wanted $400-600 to repair. I am not really all that mechanically inclined, but my google-fu game is strong...people can do a lot more than they often give themselves credit for and save a ton of money in the process.

  6. Well.....it turns out I hit him perfectly the first shot. He ran across an open field. I shot & he walked off into a brush pile. 2 minutes later 'he' walks out of the brush pile & starts feeding. I shot again & saw dirt fly under his belly. Shot again & saw dirt in the same spot buy he's had enough by then. I never even considered going to look for blood because he acted unharmed. I wouldn't have guessed in a million freaking years that there was already a nice buck in the brush pile when mine ran in there.... A buddy hunted there today & found him 10 feet from where I shot him. Really unfortunately, coyotes got up in his guts & ruined both hams & the 240gn Magtech took care of the offside shoulder

  8. Did you ask at the gun counter? Because BP is an explosive & not a propellant (batfe regs....) it has to be kept locked away with no public access. You have got to ask for it.

  10. Most casualty reports include civilian casualties. That of course is probably on the low side as I'm sure not all civilians were accounted for, some left or died without leaving anyone to miss them. Mass graves, and other means were used to dispose of remains, with no survivors left to record that fact.

  11. Yall should watch the videos that he creates. Sonic Highways the TV show had a good bit of candid conversation from him about music. And the video for his new solo single has a few minutes as well. He is truly passionate about his art and it comes through.

  12. But it would create a new government agency, employing people that can’t hold a job anywhere else. Dems love that.

  19. The notion is that since the .380 is as powerful and accurate as shooting spitballs into the wind that you have to be close enough to smell the BG's breath before it's worth using. And then you're better off just asking them nicely to stop, because the bullets might just bounce off and that'll make the BG even more angry. As opposed to a .45, in which case the BG spontaneously vaporizes before you clear the holster.

  20. I can remember hunting with a buddy of mine in Muzzle loader back years ago and I can tell you this. When he shot one they didn't walk anywhere. We where hunting the Islands on Percy Priest Lake before they added them to Long Hunter Park and he was up in a tree stand surrounded with Cedar branches and I was down the ridge was him about 40 yards. I saw this big 8 point walking on top of the ridge and knew it was going to walk within 15 to 20 yards right in front of him. Sure nuff, I saw his Hawkins barrel come out of the cedar branches so I focused on the deer though my scope. When he fired I watched the deer get pushed about 5 feet straight side ways and fall down. Never even kicked. He hit the deer in left front shoulder and needless to say front shoulders were junk. Just to let folks know Steve was a meat hunter and he couldn't get a neck shot which is were he prefers to shoot a deer so he took what he had. He is a big guy and he uses maximum powder load the gun will handle and hand casts his own bullets and they are very soft and expand to about the size of a silver dollar when he takes them out of the deer. Many times he saves them and makes new rounds out of them. Steve lived off the land and if he didn't hunt food he grew it in a huge garden and he as his wife canned food they grew. He didn't own much more than the small house they lived in and the 200 acres of land he owned. Wife coked on a wood stove and they heated with wood. Drove and old Ford truck or his tractor around his land. He never had a land line phone but did buy two cheap Cell phones back years ago so he and his wife could keep in touch with each other and a few friends. Never owned a computer. I have not talked to him is several years. Tried calling him a couple times with no luck. He lives about 90 mles from me so I don't go visit. Don't even know if he is still alive.
