  1. No Followers League. I'm done. For all the reasons mentioned many times. Tired of the Social Protest BS. If I want to see and hear that, I'll watch MSNBC.
  2. Good price...and I'm tempted, but the distance for me sort of puts it of play. Also, like Erik88...I'm really waiting on the CZ P10c.
  3. I like it! Coming from a guy who's never shot one.
  4. That was very well said. I think that in the scheme of things, animals in general, and dogs specifically, are the rewards of life. I've said it before, and still believe this...the love and affection of a dog is the closest thing on this earth to the love we are given from God. Nowhere else to we find such total and undemanding love in this world. I had to make the decision to let my Cody go just into my chemotheraphy back in 2008. In 45 degree weather, against the wishes of many people, I dug a grave for her in one of Cody's favorite spots in our yard. Under a Crepe Myrtle tree overlooking our yard and beside a spring she loved to play in. I did this for me and for her. I swore no more would I go thru this pain. She had been a constant companion for 16 years, and always greeted me at the door after a chemo session. Got in bed with me and slept beside me. I was a total basket case. We had just moved my mother in with us. She had fallen and needed care. Care my wonderful wife undertook without a complaint. She watched over the two of us and still worked. Mom and I just sort of existed, moving only when absolutely necessary; and getting warnings from my wife that we had to get up and move about. About three weeks later, on a Friday evening, my wife Susan came in late. Came into the living room and said that she had a solution for our lack of getting up. Then opened her coat and placed the little black and white spotted puppy in my lap. She, the puppy, sniffed me and my robe, looked up at me with those deep brown eyes, and peed in my lap. Then crawled up in my arms. I had been marked and claimed forever. That was 9 years ago. Molly has taken my heart as much as my wife and I could ever believe possible. Molly has been such a blessing for our family. As she grew older, Molly entertained my mother, and would sit in her lap. Always went to check on her as we went to bed. Many times we would find her sleeping in the bed with Mom. We took her to visit my Mother and other patients when Mom had to go to a care facility. Always ran thru the halls, stopping to lick hands and faces, get a pat or two, then run into the right room. Always sniffed Mom out. Would stay in bed with here as long as we were there. When we lost Mom, and started bringing her things home, Molly went to her old bedroom and sniffed and whined looking for her. I told that Mom was gone. Molly crawled into my lap and slept with me in a chair all night. These are creatures of wonder, meant to give companionship and solace meant to give light to our lives. I'll never believe otherwise. Read W. Bruce Cameron, author of A Dog's Purpose, and other books. You will see. Again Doug, I'm saddened by your loss. Perhaps words will comfort you, I hope so.
  5. MP5_Rizzo touched on something here. "...Tipping is a very American thing." As a younger person, I detested the tipping idea. I always thought you worked a job, and you got paid for your work. Yes I know all the relevant comments about service industry low wages, but I never liked the across the board practice. Going into a place of any sort and knowing that above the posted price for food/services. that you'd be expected to give an additional amount. That just didn't sit well with me. I've watched the amount increase from 10, then 15, now 25 percent, and more, being "suggested" in some places. This still irks me. I was brought up thinking you worked for a job. If you worked hard, you got a raise. I relate that now to tipping. If you do your job in a lackluster manner...I do not tip. If you ignore me, have a bad attitude...I do not tip. If you excel in what you are doing for me, I will tip. If I see you hustling about your job, doing more than is the required minimum, I will tip. And I make it a practice to seek out the management and compliment people of the last two types. I figure they deserve to be noticed and have managers understand that as a customer, I see and appreciate someone like that. That is what brings me back to an establishment. And not to spoil my reputation here, yes I have bowed to social convention...I do tip in most situations. Grudgingly. A minimal amount. Just don't ask me to tip just because you run a register or drop a plate on my table. Sorry, I did go a far bit off track here from the original quest. lol But to answer...do I tip my barber? Well, my wife and I have been going to the same person for our hair services for well over 30 years. The young lady, relatively to me anyway, is a friend of my wife. We have known her and her family. Started going to her when she first began as a stylist. Helped and supported her thru marital problems, boyfriend issues after a bad marriage, and the deaths of her parents. We are long past the stage of customer/stylist. We are family. I do not as a rule tip. We/I do give gifts at Christmas and her birthday. If I need an emergency cut, or I call asking to be worked into a busy schedule, I will drop more than she charges into her hands. I guess I'm just a wee bit strange, and my situation isn't what everyone else might have.
  6. Whatever gives you pleasure! I'd probably get laughed off the range with my shooting.

    Tool boxes

Looks good. My tools, such as they are, reside in a stacked set I bought from Sam's Club probably 10 years ago. That and a couple of Harbor Freight rolling car/drawer box combo units. But I don't make a living with mine; so I can't justify an expensive box.
  8. I'm so sorry Doug. But you did more than many would have done for her. I know Kasey knew how much you loved her and that you did everything for her.
  9. You Tease!
  10. That's me. Old school type I guess. My wife rarely carries cash. Won't even carry a wallet with id or dl if out with me. I remember my Dad carrying a bit of money with him. Sometimes more than a bit. Always said he wanted to have enough to buy whatever he came across if he wanted. There was a time I did carry what I considered a goodly amount around, especially when I was working. Now, cc and debit card, with a bit hidden in my car for emergencies. Not much, just in case that rare place that only takes cash should be where I break down. Now, I even see yard sale people using Square for sales. Times they are a changin'.
  11. There actually are good people out there. It's so refreshing these days to see a successful athlete that appreciates his good fortune and his community. Go Preds!
  12. Can't give you any recommendations...but will say welcome back.
  13. Oh I'm not worried at all. I got put in my place years ago. My father shot competitively in the '60s. I could never come close to his scores. He shot 50 yard 22 pistol with a High Standard Olympic in 22 short, and did that better than I could at 15 yards. He considered nickel size groups a bad day. I still have the Olympic, it's a joy to shoot.
  14. Probably later down the line for me, I don't have an AR pistol(yet). But I do find myself thinking and wondering about the Tailhook on a rifle. BTW...Thanks for that information.
  15. Recently got that very pistol. I'll give this a try. Looks easy. lol
  16. Got my Gear Head Works Tailhook today! Soon to be installed!
  17. Looks very good!
  18. I still can't read this without coming to tears. I first saw it in a flea market, of all places. I read it and was bawling like a baby. We had just lost a companion that was very dear to me. I just hope and pray that I can live a life that will allow me to see Tanya, and all my other past friends, companions and protectors again. There is no more perfect love on this world than that of a dog. One look into those eyes, and you can see what perfect love is. If you can't...I'm very sorry for you.
  19. Wow! That makes my current model 29 in 4" look wimpy.
  20. Update from hipower to all who have contacted me or sent messages to Doug. I would have been happy to coordinate all this and take it directly to Doug, but since several people have mentioned sending it directly to Doug...that seems best for him. I'm about to pm Doug for a mailing address and send it to all those who have contacted me. I'll send it asap. Thank you all. It's a wonderful thing you are doing. I know Doug appreciates it. And so do I. I'm very glad to be even loosely associated with a group that will step up and help a man 200 miles away in some cases. You are a great bunch of men!
  21. Doug, I sit here sniffling. Not sure I trust myself to say much or I'll break down with and for you. I made the same decision some years ago. It's very hard. May God Bless and keep you both. May I offer to help you with this? I don't know how much you need, but I have a hideout 50 in my wallet I'd be honored to contribute. I know how much Kasey means to you, and I'm sure she would appreciate what you are doing. But if possible, I'd like you to keep your Bersa. Guys...I know there's a lot going on out here now, but can't we help Doug here? He's a good man and a friend to many of us. What say you all?
  22. I have a worn down to almost nothing 110 that was my grandfather's, and one my dad carried as a work knife. I just might have to have one and complete the trilogy for me.
  23. My wife would rather watch the college games as well. Like me, Titans were all the pro teams she followed. They can move on to McDonalds when all that big paycheck runs out.
  24. A nice attempt to placate those lost fans and the American people at large. But like RED333, I have given my last dollar to the NFL thru tickets and memorabilia. Whether I will watch any games isn't much for me to mention. I only watched the Titans games anyway, and that has left me a bit dissatisfied with their actions. The whole affair has simply made public more aware of just how ridiculous the NFL has become. NOT to mention how greedy over the last decade or so. Escalating ticket prices, psl prices just plain robbery, and the tax breaks given to owners; all the while asking cities to build stadiums with public money so the owners can just sit back and rake in more and more. I'm just disgusted with the whole bunch.
