My understanding is they have more chemicals now than ever before.

Yep, new ones have almost double the shelf life.

Even though everybody says they'll last through eternity, the "official" shelf life has gone from 26 to 45 days.

Not that I'm a fan, but while shopping at Wal-Mart today, I walked down the junk food isle to see if they were out yet. Didn't see any Hostess snacks at all.

Guess they'll be like .22LR for a while. :)

Are they brining back the Strawberry Cupcakes?  Not that I need any but when the Hostess bomb dropped last year, like everyone else I went on the hunt for Twinkies and Ding Dongs (no comments please).  All I could find was a box of chocolate and a box of strawberry cupcakes.  Hadn't eaten either in literally 25 years.

Those chocolate cupcakes where the nastiest, chemically tasting things I've ever put into my mouth.  The strawberry ones on the other hand where quite tasty.

I can remember eating these things at my Granny's house as fast I could get them unwrapped! When I was in my mid 20's I bought one and it tasted a lot different than I remembered. I assumed something in the recipe had changed and not my taste buds since everything I liked as a kid besides Twinkies, I still liked. Hmmm don't know, but I'm 40 now and don't really miss them.

Never been a fan of that stuff. I won't even eat home made cake if it has frostin' on it. Don't care for a mess of sugar. I like chocolate but prefer dark chocolate over milk choco. Love the dark stuff with cayenne pepper or cranberries in it. Oh...and almonds, walnuts or pecans but no peanuts.
