New from MA soon to be TN.

Recommended Posts

Hey guy and gals, Just want to say hello. I currently live in MA and have been planning to get out of this horrible anti state for quite some time. Well it seems the stars have finally aligned and I will be moving out of MA to TN in about 3 months. I'm already part of a few gun forums but thought I would join this one as well since I will be living in TN soon. Both me and my wife have our licenses and enjoy shooting, we also are Jeepers and enjoy off-roading as well. This looks like a great forum and I hope to contribute and be a part of it for a long time. :)

Welcome!
In case it was just a coincidence that you mentioned Jeeps- if you click the bottom right of the page where it says "Enthusiast Productions", it brings up a link for TNJEEPS.com ,a Jeep forum that is put together by the creator of this forum.

Cool, Yeah it was just a coincidence didn't know that. Thanks for sharing, I'm definatly gonna check it out :) Edited by Wicked1911

I came to TN from Mass myself.  You might find the food options a bit limited, and the summers too hot, but everything else will be a big improvement.  As far as shooting and off-roading, the only limitations you will probably run into will involve finding time in your schedule.

Try to contain your surprise when dealing with the realtors...you won't want to tip them off that even their initial offers blow real estate prices in Mass out of the water.

Welcome Wicked1911!! I'm sure you'll love this forum and the people on here are great. Like you, I came from an anti-state (pretty sure IL may have Mass beat, lol) and so grateful to be in TN. Been here now 15 yrs and can't imagine being anywhere else!

We are planning a move this summer also, from NY. Been on one house hunting trip already and plan another one next month.  Pretty sure NY has IL and MA both beat for socialism. Can't wait to move to a free state with less taxes and less winter.

Yeah NY is pretty bad, my brother left MA for a job in NY and he hated every minute he had to live there. Every time I complained about MA he would say it could be worse, you could be living in NY. He now lives very happily in Nashville TN and says he will never move to another state. As for me I just cant wait till I get to live in freedom as well.

Welcome from another former Northerner from the crappy state of Maryland.

Thanks

My wife is from Iowa.  She had a little trouble adjusting to the summers here, then she came up with a way to deal with it.  She likes to think of the middle of the summer here as "like winter in Iowa--you just stay inside".  The most unbearable time is July 15-August 15, although this year has been a little cooler than normal--no 100's yet at all.  October is my favorite time of year in Tennessee and it is coming fast!
