  3. Command Sergeants Major Regarding PMags; The issue is not with the Magpul PMag. The issue is a clause that allows for "brand name or equal" Companies like Tapco are exploiting the "brand name or equal" clause in some magazine contracts to undercut the PMAG on price and sneak their product in. So the unit places an order for PMAGs, the contracting officer posts a solicitation with the "brand name or equal" clause, Tapco wins the contract, and the unit gets issued an inferior product that they did not want. ####ty situation to be in, and I can't believe the contracting officers are getting away with it.

  7. People, please make sure anyone in your household know the dangers. This tragdey was preventable, and I don't mean by locking up your only mean of protection. MY grandchildren will have yet another safety class tomorrow. There is no excuse for allowing your loved ones access to your firearms without proper training. My heart goes out to the family of the child, no one but bad guys should ever know what the business end of the gun feels like. That said, training is the key. make sure anyone in your family knows what to do in that situation and accidents like this can be prevented. Please, everyone. Have a refresher course with any children in your household or any that may even be in your house. (any misspelled words can be blamed on the wine I have consumed tonight.)

  8. I can't say whether the Koran says it is acceptable to lie, nor can I say for certain that the Bible doesn't have some sort of passage that could be taken out of context that makes it sound like it is OK to lie to further the Christian cause. I do know enough about the Bible to know that if such a passage does exist, it would not hold any legitimacy when taken in the overall context of the Bible and its teachings. On that same logic, I do know the Koran also generally forbids lying and specifically says such in Surah 40:28 that says, "Truly Allah guides not one who transgresses and lies." Do some radical Muslims corrupt the religion to teach the opposite? Absolutely. Do Christians take portions of the Bible out of context to justify doing all sorts of harm? Yes, without a doubt. Does the Islamic faith have radicals who want to kill us? Yes, but considering that Muslims make up roughly 20% of the world's population, if they all believed in the justified use of terrorist tactics and murder to further their faith, the United States and its allies simply would have already been eliminated by now.

  12. The problem with selling it to any kind of shop is just that, they're a shop - they have to resell it. Selling any item yourself is always going to get you the most out of it. I am not aware of anywhere in or around Clarksville that will allow you to bypass that. I realize that the fee to post it here might seem high, especially when you are trying to get every dollar out of it, but that fee will most likely get you the absolute most out of your gun by allowing it to be sold to the audience that will pay what you are looking for. If you can bring yourself to it, I would suggest getting a membership here. The last time I renewed mine, I thought I would use it a time or two, and have used it over a dozen times now. Plus that fee helps keep the servers up and give us access to this community! Anyway, regardless of your choice, GLWS!

  16. I use several RCBS single stage presses and have never had a problem. I also use RCBS dies. Last year I called RCBS about getting some decapping pins and some other items for a couple of the older dies. Lady on the phone was very nice and recommended some other things I had not thought of. She finished the order out and I asked her what the cost would be and her reply was "no charge". Can't beat that.

  21. don't matter what the 75% think. Only matters the intent of who wrote the TN constitution. Does not take much to guess that the writers of it answered to a Christian God and could not imagine any other.

  35. I'm not up to speed on NY's state constitution, but I'm sure the U.S. Constitution does NOT empower the gov't to decide what I can/cannot eat or drink, so it's a state's rights issue. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if NY added it as an ammendment to their state constitution. You know...for their own good and all. I agree: stupid should have consequences...they elected this jacka$$, they deserve what they get

  37. My wife and I never had kids so no grandkids or any others are ever ion my home but I don't have guns hidden around my home. I keep one on my belt from the time I get up till I go to bed and then it goes between the mattress and box springs. It's a part of me that I rarely ever notice that it's there.

  38. Yea it is unnecessary, but even at 3 a child can be taught hands off. My grandchildren have known since they were old enough to get around that my guns are off limits under any circumstances. I feel for the family, but its all training, if you can teach a child to use a toilet then they can be taught hands off of any thing that they are not supposed to touch.

  39. It doesn't take an advanced degree to figure out that when a bunch of people open carry and walk into a restaurant; there is a pretty decent chance that some anti-gun nut or worse, some uneducated but perhaps well-meaning sheep is going to overact and likely call the police. People who OC can complain about that all they want but it won't change the very predictable outcome. If people chose to OC that's fine but there is no reason to be surprised that it can cause a problem...as was said before, there are more people around who don't like guns (or at least don't like seeing people carrying guns) than there are those who understand why it's not just ok and not just a "right" but that armed, law-abiding citizens is a good thing. Yeah...the police probably overacted just as whoever called the police in the first place did...I'm not justifying the reaction; simply saying that it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

  40. Bad lie, we do not have "lax gun control". We have one of the worst gun control laws in the Nation, the "intent to go armed' law is one of the few remaining Jim Crow laws left on books anywhere! As long as our Legislature is controlled by the Moderate/Liberal wing of the Republican Party we will remain in thrall to those who deny what our Constitution demands of those who are supposed to serve us, yet hold us slaves to their own interpretation of what they believe should be the controls on our lives, while refuseing to provide for safety and security of the individual Citizen. Of course it is our own fault, for being complacent and refusing to get involved with our own governance, as the Constitution mandates.

I must recall incorrectly but wasn't the news story subforum open previously and then later restricted to gun related news? And Besides all this, TGO's most prolific member really ought to be a mod of some sorts. Maybe start a religious subforum....

  42. When I was 6 years old my Father and I lived in Applewood apartments in Oak Ridge. One spring day I was sitting in our apartment watching cartoons while my Father was next door talking to our neighbor. I heard a loud scream come from next door so I went to see what was going on. As I stepped out of our front door I was almost run over by a guy holding the side of his face with blood pouring from around his hand. My neighbors ex-husband had shown up and didn't like the idea of my Father being there so he attacked him. The x was much larger than my Father and had him pushed into the kitchen up against the counter. I don't know who was getting the better of who at that point, but my Father was able to reach a glass 1 liter returnable Coke bottle and whacked the guy on the head with it. Fight over. I remember my Father sitting me down and explaing what had happened and why he did what he did. The one thing he said that I will never forget is "Son, there's no such thing as a fair fight." I have a wife and two small children in my home. When it comes to their protection I will follow my Fathers advice.

  43. Hmmm. Would seem to entail mainly moving posts to General Chat, Politics, merging some, but a lot of that. Probably make General Chat the fattest forum by far. How important to ya is it to actually keep it as "firearms" related only? Maybe just change the topic forum description to better suit the general wide open "News" area it has become? Do a poll? It actually doesn't mean much to me one way or the other, just noticed the disparity 'tween stated intent and actuality. - OS

  45. "TSA Guy: You can't take those on the plane. Soldier: What? I've had them since we left country. TSA Guy: You're not suppose to have them. Soldier: Why? TSA Guy: They can be used as a weapon. Soldier: [touches butt stock of the rifle] But this actually is a weapon. And I'm allowed to take it on. TSA Guy: Yeah but you can't use it to take over the plane. You don't have bullets. Soldier: And I can take over the plane with nail clippers? TSA Guy: [awkward silence] Me: Dude, just give him your damn nail clippers so we can get the f--k out of here. I'll buy you a new set. Soldier: [hands nail clippers to TSA guy, makes it through security] This might be a good time to remind everyone that approximately 233 people re-boarded that plane with assault rifles, pistols, and machine guns -- but nothing that could have been used as a weapon.
