God I hope there isn't a revolution in my lifetime, cause I'd lose my mind trying to organize and train so many Rambo yahoos that have been looking forward to such an event. It'd be a challenge to fight the urge to choke the s*** out of them as they emerge from the relative safety of their mom's basement, donning all the tactical gear they scored at a gun show and then realizing that there is more to war than arguing with a 9 year old on XBOX Live over which is more reliable: a SCAR or an STG77, while neither sees the obvious flaw in their respective arguments which is that neither has ever held one let alone employed one in combat. Rant off.7 points

Kyle is the real deal. More importantly he's the real deal who also "gets it" as it pertains to civilian carry and self defense. I won't begrudge anyone a day of rolling around in the mud because it can be a lot of fun, but like I said it's incredibly impractical. I've started referring to the primary benefit of those classes as providing Retail War Stories for people who didn't sign up for the armed forces. You pay your money, throw on a lot of combat gear, bunk with strangers-turned-band-of-brothers for a weekend, bust a lot of caps, and come away with some "No shit... there I was putting rounds onto this tango 300 yds away while my buddies were closing in from the left flank" stories that you can tell at your boring ass job come Monday morning. If you're lucky, someone has a camera and the common sense to spot good photo-ops so you can post up a bunch of bad ass photos on Facebook. Bah, who am I kidding. Everyone has a camera. :)5 points

If the object is to make yourself more prepared to deal with likely situations you might face then you really need to train with the same kind of equipment and clothing you will likely be wearing when you have to use it for real. If the object is to have a fun "dude ranch " type experience then bring and wear whatever you like...it is your fantasy dress however you like. People ask me what to bring to pistol class. If it is a pistol class I tell them to bring what they really carry and wear what they really wear as THAT is what they will be using when they get jumped in a parking lot. People ask me what to bring to rifle classes. I ask them to do a SERIOUS assessment of their likely use of the rifle and then dress accordingly. Are they Mil guys? Bring your gear and wear it for the whole class. Police? Wear your vest and duty rig if you like. Civilian? Bring whatever you REALLY will use to carry mags. If that is one mag in the gun and a spare in your back pocket of your pants then good for you for training the way you are really going to be using it. Train as you will fight. Otherwise it is just tactical entertainment.4 points

What is boils down to is: The wife and I in total will be seeing 4% (2% each) less spending power each month. The Obummer army that lives off the government will go on as usual blissfully because they do not pay the taxes. The rich elite will find a few more loop holes and shelters so it will not impact them either. and congress welll... voted themselves a 3% raise. So, it boils down to the middle class, from the lower to the upper sections, get trampled again.4 points

Agreed. I've been brainstorming some ways we can do that via TGO. My requirement is that whatever we do, it must be constructive and put forward the best face possible. In other words, I'm not going to play into the hands of the antis by forming or encouraging the formation of "armed rallies" where a bunch of yahoos with rifles or handguns show up and scare the hell out of the part of society that doesn't really care one way or the other about firearms but still votes for or against the issues that affect them. I think this is perhaps the crucial point that a lot of the recent activism seems to be missing. There ARE people out there -- fence sitters, if you will -- who do not really have an opinion about firearms in general but still vote on issues that affect those of us who do care about the Second Amendment. Nothing polarizes the voting public like sensationalism, and nothing is as sensational as a bunch of rowdy, armed rednecks, toting signs about overthrowing Obama, hanging Senators and Congressmen for traitorous acts, etc. I'm sure that statement will rub some fur the wrong way here, but the truth hurts to hear sometimes and I'm getting pretty tired of the public judging all gun owners by the appearances and actions of a small subset of the "gun culture". What needs to happen is for the voting public to understand that their family physician, their pastor, the cute little unassuming soccer mom next door with a minivan full of children, the lady who cuts their hair, the guy who bags their groceries, the nice man who delivers their milk... all of those people are gun owners and many of them carry for their own self-defense. Sadly the media is always going to seek out the one wild-eyed Bubba dressed in military garb, with a Gadsden flag on a pole, and a Glock on his hip, and take HIS photo and run it on the front page of the newspaper and as the highlight reel for the 10pm news and claim he's what gun owners look like. The answer is to not be that guy and not have that guy at your rally. But gun owners aren't willing to play by the rules set forth by the antis so we keep losing the PR battle.4 points

I suppose the rest of us are not as perceptive as you and DaveTN, as I don't pick up on these threats of "violent overthrow". According to you guys, anyone who says "if a gang of burglars breaks into my house while I and my wife and children are sleeping, they will be met with deadly force if necessary to protect my family", that statement equates to "I'm going to go out and find someone who looks like they might break into my house and kill them before they even think of breaking in to my house." The ONLY thing that I have read people saying is that "if some entity comes (to me, my home, my location) with the intent to forcefully disposes me of an object guaranteed me by a specific amendment in the U.S. Constitution meant specifically for the resistence of such an act, I will resist and continue to resist to the degree necessary until the aggression against me ceases." No one is saying that they are the ones who intend to go forth and purport aggression against the govt. or any other entity, all conversations that I am aware of are defensive in posture, NOT offensive. If you feel that you must leave, I am sorry that you feel that way. No one is advocating what you perhaps mistakenly think.3 points

I don't know why anyone still does business with Bank of America. It's not just their anti gun stance. Have they left any shadow of doubt in anyone's mind that they have total disregard for their customers by expecting them to bend over and take anything they dish out? Seriously. Why does anyone still do business with Bank of America. Get your money out of there.3 points

Having been in situations where I was not shooting after analyzing the situation and the next to me was popping off rounds at a non threat, I think this guy did a great job showing restraint. He knew that his life was not in danger and that showing his weapon was enough to end the situation. He used the principles of escalation of force without even knowing it. Good job on putting the value of life over his own pride and anger!3 points

The majority of Americans would not need to revolt to cause a massive revolution. Even if just a very small percentage took up arms the government would be overwhelmed. Here's an interesting fact from America's past........ * During the Revolutionary War, only THREE percent of the people actually fought against Great Britain. * Only TEN percent of the citizens actively supported that three percent. * Approximately TWENTY percent considered themselves to be on the side of the Revolution, but they did not actively participate. * Toward the climactic end of the war, approximately THIRTY percent actually fought on the side of the British. * The rest of the citizens had no disposition either way. They didn’t care. They didn’t want anything to do with what they deemed to simply be a political issue. The sanctity, liberty, and freedoms of this nation were brought about by the unselfish, honorable, patriotic, committed, and determined acts of a mere 3%. This three percent didn’t let the comforts of life blind them to the eternal significance of freedom. They didn’t allow evil speaking to sway what their heart told them was true. They didn’t postpone their actions for a more convenient time. They didn’t value their own life over the life and liberty of their fellow citizens. In many cases, they sealed their testimony of Freedom, Liberty, and Choice with their blood and the blood of their families. Although it was only three percent, it was still sufficient to create a nation which was to be an example to all the rest of the world of a truly free republic. This three percent laid the foundation of the most powerful and prosperous nation on the earth. This valiant three percent manifested to the entire nation, and surely even the world, the unalienable value of hope, faith, family, virtue and freedom.3 points

It certainly provides an avenue for it but it shouldn't EVER be necessary. There's HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of weapons in the hands of the people. The Feds should cower in fear of that knowledge. They don't. Why? Because they have doped the country with an apathetic sedative. For Superntural fans, think Turducken sandwich. They've fed the country so much of it we are all docile cattle and any who try to break free from it are easily portrayed as domestic terrorists and the sheeple nod in agreement readily. We will never see organization or revolution until its all but too late. The price will be so incredibly high. You can talk about all this and get lots of people to agree, then try to get something going and what happens? ...welllllll, I would like to but I got to be to work in the morning, the wife has her yoga class and the kids have a softball game tomorrow. I'd love to help save the country but the wife says its not a good idea. American idol is coming on tonight. ....the BS goes on and nothing ever changes. It never will until things are all but destitute. The Amerikan sheeple are lazy fatazzes who aren't going to do squat. Disagree? Prove me wrong! I'll be happy to eat crow.3 points

Evidentally there are some groups who have started an anti NRA campaigns http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/dec/20/anti-nra-hotel-chains-discounts What we, as gun owners, need to do is take a play from their playbook. How about as Anti Brady campaign among gun owners? It was their push for policy changes that lead to all the gun free zones. And those gun free zones are resulting in people being left defenseless and getting killed. I know from now on I am going to openly blame the Brady Campaign for the recent mass killings. Fair is fair. Dolomite2 points

Part of the article talks about boycotting numerous hotels that offer NRA discounts. Evidently a bunch of antis have left hateful messages on these hotels Facebook pages threatening not to stay there. Along with several others I left an encouraging message there along with that of the antis. I encourage others to do the same. Just make sure that you are cool headed and polite and you will prevail over the hot headed antis and their allegations.2 points
I worked for Target a long time and every year there's a toy for Christmas that's impossible to get. As employees we knew when new shipments would arrive. As long as you were off the clock you could buy them and do whatever you wanted. Some people put them on eBay or whatever. Too me it's not any different, that's a benefit of working there.
I doubt your old employer would agree. I recall that as an employee, using my employee discount to purchase items for resale was a firing offense. Even as a regular patron, it is still a d**k move to buy out all stock on something to create an artificial drought and cash in on it. What's going on right now with shortages has less to do with folks worried about buying up stuff in fear of a ban and more to do with folks clearing the shelves so they can make a profit off the situation. Those folks I would classify as first rate douche nozzles.2 points

There will never be a time to relax. “Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. Many companies already make consent to search your vehicle a condition of employement. FedEx is that way. However, as explained to me by member of FedEx security, they STILL will ask your permission AND you can refuse. BUT you WILL be terminated if you refuse. NOT for having anything prohibited by policy in your car because obviously they can not know if anything is IN your car without searching, you will be terminated for violating the conditions of employment which YOU agreed to when you accepted the job. Needless to say, any attempt to sue them for loosing your job will be a major uphill fight. One, they will show that YOU agreed to the terms of employment with your signature on a paper with a LOT of fine print. Next, Tennessee is an employment at will state and they don't have to have a reason to fire you. It is for all of these reasons we need the law to PROHIBIT an employer from banning the possession of the LEGAL firearm being in your PRIVATE vehicle while parked on the employers lot. FORGET THE SEARCH ISSUE. We won't win that and besides, while in principal, I don't LIKE the idea of them searching MY car but in the final analysis, SO WHAT IF THEY DO search my car. If they can not ban my weapon, I don't care if they find it. NOR are they going to find anything else that will give them grounds to terminate me.1 point

I don't really have a problem with what he's doing. If he has an opportunity then take it and make a few bucks from it. That's capitalism. Because he's got an opportunity that most of us don't have that's no reason to be offended. Now I doubt I would be advertising it. That's like people that were affected by hurricane sandy and people were bringing gas and charging large amounts for it. Yeah it was damn expensive but if it hadn't been brought they'd have no gas for generators etc.1 point

I'm trying very had to give you the benefit of the doubt, as I don't know you on a personal level. But your piss-poor "I don't give a damn about anyone other than myself" attitude is making that very difficult. I am accepting of the fact that there's an opportunity for you to make a profit during crazy times. I am also accepting of the fact that your place of employment offers certain perks (almost everyone has some sort of perk through their employer) that non-employees don't receive, even if it means you get your hands on items that are in short supply. However, I feel there's been a glitch in your moral compass if you don't see a problem with hoarding such items for the sole purpose of taking advantage of your fellow man. Heck, there must have been a close friend, family member, or even a fellow TGO member that was really needing those items for personal use, not for profit. Sometimes helping out a fellow man can make you feel better than you would by putting a few extra bucks in your pocket. There's something to be said for a man who's willing to forego a few extra bucks while helping his brother in need. There's also something to be said for those who do just the opposite. You have to live with your ways, and it doesn't appear you're losing any sleep over it. I only hope you used that money for a good cause, like furthering your education, so you can hopefully one day make enough money that you won't feel the need to take advantage of your fellow man.1 point

At least Dave is consistent. I find myself consistently disagreeing with him. Not sure why we are disagreeing over something that has been proven to work. Start googling, see how many school shooters have been stopped by ordinary people - principles, teachers, other (college) students. Compare results to incidents where no one was allowed to carry, except for possibly 'resource officers'. Do the math. The answer is staring everyone right in the face, and only the willfully blind will not see. "Gun-Free Zones" are killing fields. It doesn't take a specialist, it doesn't require law enforcement, you don't have to be a world-class IPSC competitor. It requires two things - the right tool and a will to live. Keep in mind that every requirement or restriction beyond those two basics is a sop to someones' fear, and an impediment to survival.1 point

I can see them introducing a bill and it getting shot down. Then the back room deals begin and it will get attached to some other bill. And I suspect it will be one of those "you must pass it to see what is in it" deals like Pelosi said. Or they will do a voice vote. We must always make sure it is a roll call or by name vote otherwise it could happen like the hughed amendment. In a voice vote the leader determines who won, the ayes or the nos. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voice_vote The Hughes amendment, that banned the sale of new machine guns to civillians, was passed in voice vote. And by all accounts it did not pass but Charlie Rangel called it as passed. This is the same Charlie Rangel who has been investigated for all kinds of ethics violations as well as illegal ativity. The liberals have no problem breaking laws or rules to get what they want. This is why we have another 4 years. Dolomite1 point

I would move the trigger forward, add a pistol grip and stock. The cutouts are already there and it literally takes an hour to do the conversion. Doing this conversion improves the trigger as well as removing several parts that might break eventually. Basically you grind or drill out a few rivets then assemble the gun like any other AK. I would recommend the kits that Carolina Shooter Supply sells. You can buy everything needed for the conversion for $150. If you have any questions feel free to ask, I have done several. @DMark: Yes, Nashville Armory is a club. The paperwork is in and the dues have been paid, but it hasn't been posted to the IDPA website yet. @RobertNashville: Don't worry about being/not being competitive. We're all there to have fun, be safe and challenge each other to get better. Oh, and to have Mexican food, margaritas and maybe a stogie or two afterwards... As for taking the penalty for not kneeling, that's by the rules just as HOGNUT says, and that's the way I ran my match in Atlanta. There was a gentleman down there who also had major knee issues, so I didn't do many kneeling stages. On the few stages that did require it, the kneeling happened only at the end of the stage, so he wouldn't have to get up and still shoot. Now, I can't eliminate kneeling or prone stages entirely, because that is a skill that shooters like to improve, and it does provide needed variety in stage design.1 point
