I have to agree with Dave here. You definitely owe it to your children to indoctrinate them in the politically correct liberal version of history rather than have the opportunity to provide a filter and maybe tell them what actually happened. For example, I sure as heck don't want my kids to know that FDR EXTENDED the great depression rather than ended it. I want them to know that increased government spending is the answer to all the world's ills. I want them to believe that the Federal Reserve is not a misnomer and they had nothing to do with the devaluation of our currency, out of control inflation (also known as the "hidden tax") and encouraging the horrible business practices that lead to all the bubbles that eventually burst in this nation. Besides, home schooling is easy. It requires no sacrifice in time or money on the part of the parents, unlike public schooling. You owe it to your kids to encourage them to be dependent on and beholden to a benevolent state. You owe it to them to learn to accept the low standards set by our schools and discourage them from demanding more of themselves. Come on folks, wake up and get in lockstep. Your bosses and mommies and daddies in the government are depending on you. :shake:6 points

Kinda like if I'm overheard in an airport saying, "man, that Lo Mein from Panda Express was the bomb!" I'm likely to be handcuffed and buttraped by TSA for the next 48 hours. "Sorry sir, just following procedures. I don't make the rules, I just blindly follow them because I am not intelligent enough to exercise judgement on my own."5 points

Where I learned to debate was in a social studies class in high school. I had a flaming hippie liberal teacher who, amongst other things, was charged with teaching us history. His opinions never influenced mine, but I learned how to debate against a liberal and was even more solidified in my beliefs. Maybe other students had their minds warped by this lib, but that would be because they were weak minded and needed their opinions dictated to them, as they couldn't develop them on their own. That is a symptom of crappy parenting, not a crappy teacher. Anyone who sends their kids to school with an empty mind with no ammunition to counter ridiculous liberal doctrine should not be surprised when their kid comes home spouting liberal garbage. If anything I want to expose my kids to liberal ideology, so they can process it with the mind of a skeptic, not the mind of drone. We're raising adults, not children.5 points

Team Sig Sauer has changed their sweepstakes for February. Win a chance at Sig M400 Enhanced. Maybe the odds are more favorable to win one vs. finding one at the lgs. Are you in? Good luck. https://www.sigsauer.com/TeamSig/Sweepstakes.aspx2 points

If a violent two hour movie and hours and hours of violent video games has zero influence on behavior, why do companies pay 4 million dollars for a 30 second commercial during the super bowl, to try to influence us to buy their products?2 points

York Arms Cancels All Its New York Police Orders Read more at Ammoland.com: http://www.ammoland.com/2013/02/york-arms-cancels-all-its-new-york-police-orders/#ixzz2KzdlqYeL Based on the recent legislation in New York, we are prohibited from selling rifles and receivers to residents of New York. We have chosen to extend that prohibition to all governmental agencies associated with or located within New York. As a result we have halted sales of rifles, short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, machine guns, and silencers to New York governmental agencies. For “civilian†customers residing in New York: At your choice, we will: Complete your order and ship to a dealer of your choice outside of NY. Refund your payment in full. Hold your items here for up to 6 months, at no charge – if you are in the process of leaving NY and taking residence in another state. For LE/Govt customers in New York: Your orders have been cancelled.2 points

Just because the Supreme Court hasn't ruled on it doesn't mean it hasn't been proven. Here, I'll prove it right now. The 2nd Amendment, which is written in clear, concise, and easily understandable English says, "A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." There, I just proved it.2 points

I know one person that's home schooling now. She's more than qualified to do it. I know another that's considering it, and she's had teaching credentials for years.I don't know the requirements for home schooling. I do know that everybody is not qualified. BTW Smiffy, your son probably wouldn't have the terrorist problem if you would give up on those commie guns and get you some 'merican rifles :)2 points

Fact is home schooled kids are usually more well rounded and make better grades than most public school kids. It has also been pretty well proven that home schooled kids don't really have any problems adjusting socially. And if a parent doesn't feel they can adequately teach a subject they can take them to the school for that class.2 points

I can't tell you how many times I've heard someone say, when asked this same question, "He's the first African-American President". They actually think that is an accomplishment.2 points

Thanks man. I can honestly say ther are incredible teachers. I'm a band director in an inner city school and I spend more time with high school students than there parents do. They drop them off at school and leave them there. We give them tons of work to do, teach the boys manners and how to treat women and teach the girls to respect themselves and that they don't need a man to be complete. If that's liberal than I'm guilty as hell. I just got home after spending 13 hours working with my band kids at school and then taking others to a special county band contest where we pushed them harder than they have EVER been pushed. Most teachers strive to be great. There is so much pressure to be good, more than people know. Come look at our evaluation criteria and you'll see. Sure there are some bad teachers. But there are bad lawyers and doctors etc. My second day on the job a little sophomore girl comes to me and says her moms boyfriend is raping her. She came to me because she trusted me. She was a band kid and had just gone through summer camp. We blew the case open. There are many many more stories where that came from. Like the kid that told me he saw his mom get her chest blown away from a drug dealer with a gun. Homeschooling is a great thing. However until people are ready to spend more time than just dropping off their kids at school and maybe picking them up, then.........2 points

Ok I'm a teacher so.... To be real, all I've read in this thread is negative opinion about liberal this and that. How is math liberal? How is music liberal? How is dissecting a freakin frog liberal? Someone give me facts please instead of opinion. I've never heard of anyone get in trouble for playing with light sabers or pretend army or anything else that normal kids do. And, these s$&@ for brain principals and teachers spend a great amount of their lives not only raising our kids but also studying how to do it better!!! I've spent probably more time and research into being a better teacher than many have EVER done at their jobs. Come work in my world someday. See kids that come to school because they can have lunch. Try working 16 hour days for months on end. Think of the coaches at your high school. You think they didn't give it their all?? I take total offense to people that make statements and have no fu$&!&g idea what really goes on at a public school. How many of you have spent ANY time at all in your kids classes?? And to the original poster. Yea, that is bull$$&t. I'd be mad too!!! Kids will draw superheroes. My 7 year old does it every day. At school and at home.2 points

+1 I was homeschooled 1st-12th. Even tho I didn't learn all the liberal, socialist, and godless things they teach in public schools for the most part today, I received a well-rounded education and have since completed a bachelors degree as well as a masters degree. To me not having to learn all the government imposed philosophy, has actually helped me in these days to discern what is right and what is bogus. When you know the truth and it is all you know, you quickly recognize a lie.2 points

Well, I gotta be honest, if this bill passes in Missouri the citizens of that state should forcibly overthrow that states government. This is the clearest violation of the 2nd Amendment yet. I can't imagine this happening in TN, but if it did I know I wouldn't be turning in my guns.2 points

Just FYI, but I broke a belt on my Mod. B this week. I usually break a belt about every two years. So they are durable. However, I had brass to clean, and Midway was out of stock (like everything else). I did find another at a rock collectors website and ordered it, $12.50 including shipping, but THEN I saw on another site where someone used a vacuum cleaner belt. Well, I went to my local Walmart to see what they had. Of all the belts, there was only one that was round, vs flat, that kind of looked like it might work. For $2.50 I took the gamble and bought the package of two. To my delight, yep, fit just fine, though I had to give it a rolling start as it was just a bit tighter, though I'm sure it'll stretch. Been tumbling brass for a few days now with it, no problem. Since I ordered the replacement belt already, I will use it when it comes in and keep the vacuum belts for back-ups, but if you have a Mod B Thumler and break a belt, here's your quick fix,,, Wally World, Eureka RD by Durabelt, fits (Eureka 400 and a few more). Worked for me. Good day. :up:1 point

Well it's confirmed to be an 1890 Police made in 1892 base on the serial number so I'm happy about that. It's 44-40 like all 1890s. I'm still tracking down the story of the original owner through family so I pass that on for those who like a little history. Thanks for the help!1 point

If the administration disagrees with the policy, why do they enforce it? Particularly in cases as silly as this? They should take cases like this back up the chain to the school board to illustrate the stupidity of the policy. If they're blindly following stupid rules, they're just as guilty as the uninvolved parents they like to bitch about. Quit being mindless minions and think for yourself.1 point

I really do wish that manufacturers and wholesalers would "band together" and all do this. Instead what I fear will happen is some will do it, and then Company X will say "Let's increase our market share by advertising in these states!".1 point

The two I've ever purchased anything from here in Cleveland is Posey gun and pawn and volunteer ordinance works. Posting from my phone or I'd throw up the addresses. Probably easy to find with Google though :-) I know VOW has a website. I think gun slingers is the one down from the Y? I don't remember the street name. I'm sure someone can provide more information than me.1 point

That's easy to want to showcase our best. I really love it here. I'm actually a transplant of CA as well. I used to be anti gun until my first trip to the range 7 or 8 years ago. (I was an easy convert.) Since then, I've been on a mission to convert folks to all things South: BBQ, Country Music and Guns.1 point

I've never been a fan of this legislation, it's the reason I'm not helping out at the TFA anymore, hopefully I'll change my mind after this issue is done and over with. But, in the grand scheme of things it appears the only infringement is on the least concerning of my issues with the legislation... They're basically removing 39-17-1359 postings from public parking lots... Since I'm fine with doing away from 1359 altogether, this isn't a big loss of freedom for business owners in my book. Private lots will continue to be off limits, employers and employees can continue to engage in contracts at will.... in the grand scheme of things this is about the least bad version of the legislation I could imagine. Not sure it was worth all the political capitol that the NRA and the TFA has spent.1 point

Guess I need to take down all those "get it before they're banned" ads I have on gunbroker for my Tapco magazines I'm selling for $300 a pop. Really, there are going to be three types of people here in a few months... Those that will should be ashamed for ripping folks off; those who should be ashamed for getting ripped off; and those of us who have been sitting back watching this lunacy that had the decency not to rip anyone off and the sense not to get ripped off.1 point
