  1.   The Internet has made it entirely possible for herds of dumb people to malign good businesses based on half-informed, knee-jerk assessments clouded with emotion and untempered by intelligence.  It's our job as SMART people to not instinctively parrot what we see on ARFCOM and Facebook, and research the claims being made before contributing more mass to the dog pile.   But people rarely do that.  :(

  2.  An airplane was about to crash; there were 5 passengers on board, but only 4 parachutes. The first passenger, Holly Madison said,  "I have my own reality show and I am the smartest and prettiest woman at Playboy, so Americans don't want me to die."   She took the first pack and jumped out of the plane.   The second passenger, John McCain, said, "I'm a Senator, and a decorated war hero from an elite Navy unit from the United States of America ."   So he grabbed the second pack and jumped.   The third passenger, Barack Obama said, "I am the President of the United States and I am the smartest ever in the history of our country, some even call me the 'Anointed one.'"   So he grabbed the pack next to him and jumped out.   The fourth passenger, Billy Graham said to the fifth passenger, a 10-year-old schoolgirl, "I have lived a full life and served my God the best I could. I will sacrifice my life and let you have the last parachute."   The little girl said, "That's okay, Mr. Graham;  there's a parachute left for you.  America's smartest President took my schoolbag."

  3. :shake:   They also instituted a hook up for CO residents that will trump all those.  They want to leave as many mags in CO hands as possible.  They have not raised their prices on anyone.  You can still get their mags as cheap as you always could.  They're going as far as moving their entire operation to a free state.  Has anyone else done that?  I would save my angst for those companies that are busy raking you over the coals.   SGAmmo - $35 for a brick of friggin' .22? CTD - enough said etc, etc, etc.   Instead you have people, even on this forum, that said they would continue to support the price gougers if it means they can save a couple dollars later on.  You have people on this forum that are raping their fellow Tennesseans and gun owners on guns, magazines, and ammunition.  If you want to aim your outrage at anyone, they should be target #1.

  4. Has anyone at Magpul other than a sales exec made an official statement on this anywhere on their web site or Facebook page?  All I've seen so far is one post from that guy on ARFCOM, and it was a post that could easily be misinterpreted.   And true to form on ARFCOM, that one post inspired a legion of morons to pick up pitchforks and torches.   I'm convinced that the one thing keeping stupidity in check in our society right now is ARFCOM.  If that site ever goes tits up, there's going to be a sudden rapid uptick in breeding between really stupid people who suddenly have nothing else better to do.  People who currently spend every waking hour self-flagellating to pictures of Navy SEALS, nitpicking and fawning over the pieces of kit they see.

  10. What I've read suggests that basically they're saying their distributors that sell to those states are still free to do so, which really makes sense.  Magpul is hardly able to dictate to it's distributors who they can sell to.   What I've also read suggests that Magpul's stance still stands that they will not directly sell to departments or agencies or government entities in those states.  The people who are getting wrapped around the axle are using Magpul's offer to move LEO/MIL to the head of the line to combat THEIR shortage of essential gear, and saying that this means they're selling to LEO/MIL in those "ban states".   I've yet to read anything from Magpul that says they're directly selling "standard capacity" mags to LEO/MIL in ban states and that the rest of us can go fist ourselves.

  11. Where is all the outrage for blue label Glocks then? Give me a friggin break. While I admire the move by distributors to ban sales to agencies of states which ban certain items, I don't think a company choosing not to follow suit means they are "selling out". Magpul has taken a stance far and above any other firearms or firearms accessory manufacturer. They aren't bowing to the almighty dollar here, they just want to provide a quality product to those who serve, especially since those that serve likely share similar beliefs as most in the pro-2A corner.

Okay, well by that logic the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces has expressed his desire to ban most semi-automatic rifles and magazines with capacities over 10 rds (and he can sign stuff into law) so for those of you who are going to boycott Colt, Beretta, Brownells, Knights Armament, FN, Dillon and so on, feel free to send me your products from those manufacturers; I'll pay shipping. All those companies supply such products to the military.

  17.   "You're always gonna have problems lifting a body in one piece. Apparently the best thing to do is cut up a corpse into six pieces and pile it all together." [...] "And when you got your six pieces, you gotta get rid of them, because it's no good leaving it in the deep freeze for your mum to discover, now is it? Then I hear the best thing to do is feed them to pigs. You got to starve the pigs for a few days, then the sight of a chopped-up body will look like curry to a pisshead. You gotta shave the heads of your victims, and pull the teeth out for the sake of the piggies' digestion. You could do this afterwards, of course, but you don't want to go sievin' through pig shit, now do you? They will go through bone like butter. You need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs 200 pounds in about eight minutes. That means that a single pig can consume two pounds of uncooked flesh every minute. Hence the expression, 'as greedy as a pig'."

  18.         Surely you don't mean to suggest people should use critical thinking and reasoning skills when reading someone's opinion on the internet?  Do a little research and make an informed decision for themselves?  That's the craziest thing I've ever heard.  Clearly you've lost your mind.        Wait... is there an app for that?                           Ding!  It's called a free market economy for a reason.  Do I think a number of retailers and individuals have taken advantage of the situation and made an absurd profit?  Absolutely.  But they haven't made any money off me.    Don't like the prices?  Don't buy.

  19. So the question is ... how do you get union/management to change there stance? My guess is when the "rank and file" start having to abide by the same restrictions both on the job and off the job as the average citizen; they will get angry enough and start demanding union/management change their stance. Kind of like the gun citizens are doing with our elected officials.

  20. Another success story. Personally, I think it should be legal to use deadly force to get your stuff back from someone who won't willingly give it back to you, but in this case the robber shot at him, the manager returned fire an won. It doesn't really matter which way a person is facing when they shoot at you. I hear, according to physics, that bullets travel the direction they are fired, not the direction the shooter is necessarily facing. Give that man a medal. Feed the corpse of the deceased to pigs.

  23. A member of another forum contacted CCI technical during the shortage of 4 +/- years ago and this is the exchange:   "I called not to complain about availability, but rather to discuss the technical differences between their primer types. I was put in touch with one of their tech reps who was very happy to discuss their primers. BTW, She mentioned that she had worked there 38 yrs and never seen anything even close to this kind of demand. Then she said that they can produce 3 million primer per day flat out (which they are currently running) but have currently over 1 Billion back ordered. Unfortunately, that means that if all new orders stopped completely today. Everything; ammo, gov't, and component, it would take almost a year running flat out to catch up.   Anyway, I was asking about the cup thickness, formula differences, and formula amount differences between their #500 (SP), #550 (SPM), and #400 (SR). She had me hold a minute to get the detail specs up on her screen and this is what she said.   Cup thickness: The #500 has a thinner cup than either the #550 or #400, however, both the #550 and #400 have the same cup dimensions (including thickness).   Flash powder formula: All three sizes use the same formula for the flash powder.   Flash powder amount: The #500 has a slightly smaller amount (3 micrograms) than the #550 or #400 which both have the same amount.   I asked if the SR primers could be used as an acceptable substitute for the SPM primers. She compared the #550 and #400 and then replied that yes, they appeared to have the same specs, same dimensions, same cup thickness, same formula, and same amount of flash powder. She even noted that the SPM primers were slightly taller than the SP primers and were spec'd the same dimensions as the #400.   I asked if she knew any reason not to just use SR primers for both magnum pistol and rifle applications based upon that information and she said that many there only bought rifle primers and used them for all their reloading, magnum or not. The only exception being for custom pistols where the thicker rifle cup contributed to misfires, which she said only occurred in custom race pistols."

  31. @ Mike.357 - Perhaps.   I will concede on the cost factor. If California wants to waste their people's tax money on movies it is no skin off my behind.   Her gown was priced at retail for 8900.00  I'll assume ( we know how assuming works) Barry paid for it and told her to buy one in every color.   No, she didn't fly out there, she was at the White House at a formal dinner for the service men and women standing behind her. Some, if you'll notice in a few of the different screen shots, don't look real pleased. I could be reading more into the dour looks than the actual intent.   Harvey Weinstein, the big time Hollywood producer and Obama ass kisser asked her to do it 2 weeks ago. She should have declined, but being a media whore...   There is no conspiracy or message. PricewaterhouseCooper's keeps the academy votes under tight secrecy and security and has not had a breech in security for the 76 years they have been counting the votes. Until the envelopes are opened nobody, aside from PwC accountants, knows who won. The last day to vote was the 19th of February, far past when the FLOATUS was asked to be a presenter. However, this is the first year that electronic voting was made available to all members of the academy by a company called Everyone Counts, Inc. You may make your own suppositions.

  33. House bill 118 passed floor vote as 72-22. Perhaps the only note of interest was the sponsor's statement that he would not consider any amendments that had not already been properly vetted by the committee process...a statement later echoed by McCormick. What he failed to menton was that the committee process steam-rolled the bills before anyone had a chance (or the will) to offer any such amenmdents. It seems the current R leadership learned at least one lesson from Mr Naifeh, and proudly carry on his traditions even today. McCormick assurances of promises he'd received from business and his assertion that he would propose legislative "fixes" should anyone be fired by their employer for possession in violation of a policy was both laughable and nauseating...as pretty much the entire GA has become of late.

  36. Actually it doesn't. A person is fully capable of firing a weapon toward someone while facing the other way. Look around on YouTube of MOST self defense shoots where the robber fired shots and the victim returned fire.. Especially those that take place in convenient stores. The criminals shoot as they're running away; backs turned and everything. Is that a valid shoot? Well, bullets aren't any less hazardous to your health when the attacker has his back to you. As far as I'm concerned, any reasonable person can articulate why an armed man with his back to you is still a threat. If he has already shown that he is armed I'm going to shoot him unless he is actively surrendering.

But I firmly believe we need to support this organization as much as we can......at least for the next few weeks. These guys will be our first line of defense. I can't afford much but I have been sending $50 a month so far this year. The funds I would normally spend on ammo, if I could find it, I am donating to the cause. It may be like playing the lottery but I think the jackpot would be worth the investment.

  40. Ok, I took the hand gun carry permit class this past Sat the 23rd and wanted to post some observations and thoughts. - first of all, thanks for all of the TGO members that took time to post on this thread. Your advice and insight came in very handy. - I was very excited about taking the class and arrived at the John Sevier Hunter Ed Center around 830 and was greeted by a VERY nice lady named Pat. I commented on her fun bright pink fleece. Pat was very knowledgeable and cared about informing us all she knew and was eager for all of us to pass the class. I even heard her tell one lady she would stay late and help her pass the shooting portion. Pat also, at one point on the range, did the Hokey-Pokey. :) - our instructor Doug was very knowledgeable and took the class serious. He was sometimes confusing to me, like when he described legal carry vs permit carry, but that could have been just me. He did a great job preparing us for the test. - I took a crap ton of notes - Doug was very much into the seriousness of choosing to carry a firearm. VERY SERIOUS HE WAS. I learned a great deal of valuable information. F.A.B. - he answered EVERY question we had. The class had 39 people in it. - the class was mostly made up of women. I'd say it was 60-40 women of all ages and backgrounds. - there was a musician friend of mine there. I had a feeling I'd see someone I knew. We shared some knowledge and I told him about TGO - the shooting part was a blast. The target is much much smaller than it was last month. Doug said it was because of a new law. - this was the first time I'd had a chance to take my PX4 9 to a range. I had to aim high when very close in. That thing knocked the center out. - their 22's kept malfunctioning. But the guys were on it!! - all- in- all I loved the class. I must have my wife take it. - we were running around 630 quitin' time. - I need to get a membership there. ( thanks Razz).

  44. I find that when I think the very worst about our Federal Government, I'm seldom disappointed.   I occasionally find my very worst fears about our Federal Government are an underestimation.   It's more necessary for the Federal Government -- any government -- to demonstrate it's legitimacy to the citizens than for the citizens to assume legitimacy from the Federal Government.   And I'm writing as a retiree from that very same government.

  45. I don't know if DHS is buying no-hesitation targets, and frankly, neither do you. And even if they are, that is not evidence that a government takeover is in the works. The use of no-hestation targets is not new in law enforcement, but has been going on for decades. Yet somehow it's suddenly sinister because Obama is in the White House and Alex Jone suggests that is all the proof we need. Perhaps this will be a shock to some people, but it's not only young black men and people of Middle Eastern descent who shoot and kill cops. What I am saying here is that this is the typical attempt to stir up controversy where none appears to exist. My problem is not with the information, but how the Alex Jones crew frames it, which is facts without actual context and the hint that the Obama/DHS/FEMA cabal is preparing to commit revolution and genocide against American citizens. This gives people who the opportunity to fill in the blanks themselves with whatever interpretation fits their own individual views, hence why I said if you are only looking for one possibility, you are sure to find it. Let's think through this a little more. There seems to be a suggestion that use of these target will render law enforcement officials robots who will kill people without hesitation or regret. That is simply absurd. Further, at the same time while people are jumping up and down about arming teachers, school administrators, and placing armed officers in schools to shoot potentially murderous young people, people are lamenting and gnashing their teeth about targets with a kid holding a gun. I strongly - no very strongly - believe that this wouldn't have even been a story if people on the targets had been black, Middle Eastern, or Hispanic/Latino. If there is a story here, the Alex Jones crew certainly didn't provide information to justify it. Rather, they provide just enough information to give people who are predisposed to think the absolute worst of their government the opportunity to make a leap of logic that seems to make sense without any real evidence to back it up. The people who buy into the right wing propaganda and conspiracy machine without even a slight bit of hesitation or reflexive thought are sheep just like the kool-aid drinkers and Obama zombies on the left. Being a sheep doesn't apply to any specific political ideology. As for me, I will file this little tidbit of information in my mind for future days should some solid set of circumstances come to light that puts this target story into some sort of legitimate context that justifies heightened concern. I am quite aware of the concept of incrementalism, but a set of random events does not serve as proof a conspiracy is afoot. Instead of putting forward rational arguments and evidence-based policy proposals, too many on the right are wasting time on creating elaborate fairly tales. While people are in panic mode chasing down non-existent conspiracies, they are taking their eye off the ball. Besides wasting energy and resources, these stories feed into the left's narrative of the right as irrational and dangerous, which discredits Obama's opponents in general. This is exactly why the left has been able to maintain power. I am not a "comrade." I am a free-thinking individual who doesn't blindly trust media of any sort, especially sources run by ideologues like Alex Jones, Glenn Beck, Piers Morgan, or Keith Olbermann. I guess there is something morally superior about being shot and killed by pregnant women and young people with guns. Perhaps these targets are less troubling and will make people feel better:
    1 point
  46. I don't personally have an issue with these.  I think many are drawing conclusions and correlations that aren't there.  This is not about "training" to shoot children, or pregnant women, or grandma.  This is about being able to train and better identify on "instinct" a possible threat.  Just because you identify a possible threat doesn't mean that you automatically shoot.  I think most well trained LEO's will attempt to determine if a threat is real or not before firing their weapon.  Not all, but most.  At the end of the day, it comes down to a Human making a decision.  Sometimes they will be right and sometimes they will be wrong.  Welcome to the real world.  If these types of targets help them identify threats better, so be it.     I personally get a little tired of some in the gun crowd complaining when they think something is offensive and then complain when others complain something is offensive, but the gun owners don't think it is.  You can't have your cake and eat it too.  Yes, if they were pictures of black people, someone would complain, even though that wouldn't be right either.  Let's not stoop to their level, everything is not a conspiracy.
