They no doubt lied about the dog attack as well. I have owned dogs since I was 4 years old and I have never had a dog break a leash as they claim happened. What probably did happen is the dog was off the leash, which is against the law, when it attacked the seal. But because they are now the political elite they can lie about anything and everything with impunity. He is a liar and is doing so for personal gain. Funny how a person can go from a honorable person who served in the military to a POS virtually over night. I can think of a couple of space shuttles I wish he would have been on. Dolomite5 points

You have to read the comments under the auction. Hilarious! Someone asked if the paper was standard photo paper or if it was soft enough to wipe with. :rofl:4 points

The Pope and Obama are on the same stage in Yankee Stadium in front of a huge crowd. The Pope leans towards President Obama and said, "Do you know that with one little wave of my hand I can make every person in this crowd go wild with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display, but will go deep into their hearts and they'll forever speak of this day and rejoice!" Obama replied, "I seriously doubt that! With one little wave of your hand?....Show me!" So the Pope backhanded him and knocked him off the stage! AND THE CROWD ROARED & CHEERED WILDLY and there was happiness throughout the land!3 points

As someone who drives for a living, I understand his frustration. As someone who carries while driving for a living, I understand how important it is to control that frustration.3 points

You are correct. That there are so many people out there who go through their daily lives thinking that a random train transporting military vehicles or towing car haulers is evidence of a FEMA plot is very concerning indeed.3 points

There's one particular forum I go back to every now and then that makes me more and more grateful for David and his team every time I visit. Thanks for taking the high road and making this the best gun forum on the net.2 points

Gun store already released a statement, heard it on MSNBC, but can't quote it. It'll show up. However, nothing about "because he was buying it for someone else" or any of that crap. All you folks saying how it was a felony to buy it under false premises -- it's perfectly legal to buy a gun as a gift to a non-prohibited person, and you are still to check that you are the actual buyer on 4473. So he could give it to anyone on the police department he wanted to with or without pre-intent. It's also legal to buy a firearm that you know you are going to sell, too, as long as it is not "repetitive" for "livelihood", but "occasional" to "enhance a collection or hobby". You are still the actual buyer of the firearm on 4473, no lying involved. - OS2 points

I disagree with the sentiment you are proposing for this guy. As the others have said, it took minutes for him to get the dog off, what would have happened if the switch in that dog flipped on a baby wading in the water with its parents? Would that be acceptable as long as he helped get the dog off, or not acceptable for the sole reason it was a child? Dogs require responsible owners just like guns do.2 points

“In Controlâ€, “protect his kidâ€???? The daughter was walking a dog that she obviously couldn’t control. Who was protecting those three women that were trying to stop the attack? They could have been seriously injured in a second. I own a 100 pound Doberman (that I can control) and if that were me I would have been cited for violating a leash law and allowing my dog to kill a protected animal. Dirt bags like that give the rest of us responsible owners a bad name.2 points

I banned that overpriced Barrett fanboy shop... The day I walked in there and they had Pmags for $60 with a pencil line drawn through $16 price tag, I walked right out.2 points

I have no problem with the free market, supply and demand. But I will not be guilted into "doing business locally" or " support your local brick and mortar" gun shop after what I have witnessed over the last several months. If I can save a buck buying online then good for me! More cash in my pocket. If the local brick and mortar can make higher profit on a tragedy then good for them. As a rule of thumb I handle a snake by the head.2 points

It is all a freaking game. King Geo II would have signed a gun ban. The only reason anyone is against it now sure is not because it is the correct way to vote according to our constitution. They are ALL self serving and only worried about being re-elected. Just look at the lack of a budget we have. None of them care. This gun rights argument is nothing but smoke and mirrors to cover what really is screwed up with his country. I about guarantee the Dem's do not care about gun control any more than the Republicans.2 points

Is this thread supposed to be satire or are we being serious right now? My God. I'm pretty sure if we had a video of US soldiers taking a dump and played it to menacing theme music some tin foil hatters would think is was a damn conspiracy rather than consider the possibility that soldiers have to take dumps too.2 points

The sample size of lawful gun carriers involved in shooting is (thankfully) too small to do any sort of significant statistical analysis. Pure facts and stats, in most parts of the country anyway, would probably indicate that carrying a gun is a waste of time, as the likelihood of "needing it" is so little. I carry a gun not because of the odds I might need it, but because of the horrific nature of the consequences if I need it and don't have it.2 points

What a shame he let himself being used as a tool for the liberals. Here is a very educated man, letting his emotions cloud his judgement because of what happened to his wife. I was a terrible act, but what the liberals fail to mention is it was a ultra left wing wacko who shot her because she was not far left enough. Now he is doing the biding of the left wing anti-gun crowd. What a shame. Glad AZ guns denied him so they stopped the propaganda cold.1 point

You might add a few bills to that figure if it's really mint/unfired. No doubt somone threw the box away. It is worth a considerable sun as well.1 point

I agree with you, but I think it's fair to say "He" didn't lose control of the dog. If anything, he was the one who actually helped get the dog off of the seal. Again, I don't have to agree with his politics, but I don't think "He" did anything wrong other than try to probably protect his kid which again I think most would do, public figure or not.1 point
-
That sounds good, just hope it isn't my dog. That may seem extreme, but my dog is more important than a seal. If it was attacking a person ok, but not a seal.1 point

One of the best add ons to a bic lighter is a small piece of rubber from a bicycle intertube. If you get the right size it's a tight fit. When your ready for your fire cut a small piece of rubber off the tube and light it. It burns for a long time and saves your fuel. I cut a small piece of the rubber and wedge it in the end of a stick so I have a mini torch that can be placed under my pile of wood for starting. Plus it gives me a small satisfaction that I'm adding to the hole in the ozone. I just became a dealer for a company called Utility Flame https://www.utilityflame.com/pcms/?f=home. It's a gel that burns at 1375 degrees for several minutes. It's only byproduct is water vapor and sand, so completely safe to burn indoors.1 point

Everybody is wrong here, but the dude that was the aggressor got his ass beat down. Little to late to be pulling a gun on a fleeing suspect... the judge will ask " were you in immediate or immanent danger for your life or your wife's?" And that answer is NO... Now, if he's stopped at a red-light after a little rage, and the two guys got out, and stormed his vehicle, that changes the story 100%..1 point

I tried adding 2 back in January and they just filled one. They supposedly base it off of billing address, last name and shipping address to regulate that. I grabbed 1 box. Thanks for the link. Thanks for helping a gun community out that is going to shoot this stuff rather than flip it.1 point

I have a few thoughts on this. I agree that numerated rights should not be able to be restricted without due process. However because our legal system is bogged down and slow, a person who could be a REAL threat could act before legal action could take place. Temporary restrictions that have a specified expiration unless imposeded permanently by THE COURT MAY be an answer. There would have to be very specific language to deal with this. As already posted, the "professionals" in the mental health business likely lean liberal, anti-gun. Add to that this question, how many of us have used the phrase, "if I ever catch up with that SOB, I'm gonna kill him"? Come on, get real, we all have said that at one time or another only figuratively with no real intention of doing that. We are just mad and want to vent. However in this day and age of kids being expelled from school for just pointing a finger in a way that someone says looks like a gun or having the police and child services show up at your door because your child posed with a rifle that was given to him as a gift, we have to be careful what we say and who can hear it. I do agree that there should be some mechanism to intervein if there is a possibility a person could be on the eminent verge of committing a violent act. But let's not start down a slippery slope that we can not stop. I might add, I have just gone to the General Assembly web site and read the whole bill. First, it shows that it has passed the complete Senate with 33 for and 0 against. It is now in the hands of the House. Also after reading the bill, because I am NOT a lawyer, there are so many referances to other laws and statutes which impact this bill, I would not venture any guess about the real meaning of this bill. I need to hear from some of our real lawyers on this forum first. I do understand the need to keep weapons out of the hands of people who are mentally unstable but we need to make sure language is in place to protect those who are not OR may at some time be deemed competent.1 point

Agreed, unfortunately conservatives ... true conservatives are a rare breed these days, unelectable on a national level because things like actually believing in freedom & the Constitution is considered "extremist" by a large portion of our populace. We are in serious trouble, of that I have no doubt.1 point
-
What defines a liberal or liberalism? The meaning of the word has changed so much over the years that it really has become nothing more than a derogatory term for the other side. I believe the same thing can be said of conservatism. Most who claim to be conservative or liberal are really neither from a traditional or classical viewpoint. While I claim to be conservative, most of my views are really from the school of classical liberalism. Regarding most "liberal" politicians of today, I think a better label would be statist, authoritarian, and in some cases, down right totalitarian. The same could be said of some on the "conservative" side of the aisle.1 point

You would be amazed to hear the recordings I've seen made in recent years with just a quality mic, preamp, and a mac running garageband. The same setup with some cash can be easily expand to way more channels than I've ever needed around the house.1 point

Glad to have you around and congrats on the new Smiths. I know the feeling about the 1911s. I kept buying something else before I saved enough for a 1911 for a long time until the SR1911 came out. Then some jerk at the range let me shoot his Scandium E-series 1911 and now I don't like my Ruger as much as I did before.1 point

to me the belt is the part of the equation that can't be over emphasized. i have one the old leather guy at guns-n-leather made and it works good for my needs. family members use belts from manufacturers that they don't have a problem with. after that, a good holster that's easy to draw from. sounds like you've already made an A+ choice on firearm for carry, just spend some time setting up the rest of the rig. also, you'll get more comfortable with any rig the more that you use it.1 point

I would have loved to retire at 20+ years but I couldn't. Service connected injuries forced me out at 10 years but the problem is the VA does not consider me 100% disabled. I have ran into this for several other programs the state offers. You must be a 20+ year veteran OR 100% disabled for all of them as well. Dolomite1 point
-
Hey that's great! But what about the rest of us that served less than 20 years? or are not 100% disabled? or what about just ordinary average Joes that would rather not have to continually renew every few years? Lifetime permits are a great idea, I have an Indiana lifetime permit, but jeesh they sure as heck kept the number of folks who would be eligable as limited as possible...1 point

I would be surprised if any reliable facts could be compiled to create statistics. I think any "studies" one way or the other would be immediately suspect since there just aren't that many instances out there of shootings where the manner in which a person was carrying was entered into a police report, let alone into some kind of database where this info could be tracked. Someone could easily just cherry pick incidents to prove their argument one way or the other. Best to just apply common sense and rational thought when considering carry options. Some folks think that it's crazy to walk into your local convenience store with a weapon exposed as if the world will end and any potential robber will just take your gun and shoot you with it; some folks think you should be able to walk into a Chuck E Cheese with an AK pistol strapped to your leg and no one should be alarmed and anyone who is is a hoplophobe.1 point
