  1. Since when does a 5 year old get to choose anything, much less a haircut?

  2. Murfreesboro doesn't have a good shop, in my humble opinion. The Outpost Armory is most likely to have whatever you're looking for, but you're going to pay for it.

  4. If you sign a contract to follow a policy you should abide by it or don't sign the contract. Yeah maybe a haircut seems a little silly but a dress code is set to avoid distractions and this hair style was obviously causing one. I signed a contract with my job that doesn't allow me to carry a weapon while I'm working. I think it's silly and even dangerous, but I will abide by it or seek employment elsewhere.

  5. Ken is a douche. He's turned people in for selling without a license and while I understand is is against the law, he's one of the ones responsible for disappearance of many of the "old sellers" as I call them. Remember some of the old guys that always had cool stuff and loved to trade and bargain?? Yeah, you won't see them again and this guy along with a few others is why. I'd rather pay twice as much as buy from him for half price.

  6. They don't need to ban knives because it will unfairly impact chefs. They just need to ban high-capacity, reusable assault knives.

  7. Ya know, as I understand it, knives are not prohibited on college grounds in Texas, and the state allows 5.5" blade limit.   What's with this guy running around with a small scalpel or Xacto knife and nobody simply took him on with a real knife? All these Texicans turned into wussies?   Jeez, a CS Voyager 5.5" is over a foot long, just for reference.   - OS

  8. I have had jackets ricochet off steel, and return hard enough to put out an eye. I've also had a casing from the shooter beside me hit me. We didn't have to wear them on the ranges in the Marines until the last year I was in, but I always wore sunglasses shooting on sunny days anyways, so I just wear ballstically rated ones for the range.

  9. Only a matter of time ... There's a reason one of Obama's EO's clarified that care providers can ask if you own guns and its not for "safety." Letting the government so far into so many details of our lives is only going to result in more things like this.

  10. When will the American public in general realize that the problem isn't the instrument used in the crime, but the criminal him/herself. If you take away every useful object from people who want to kill, they'll beat people to death with their fists. It's so obvious it's frustrating.

  13. I learned the hard way that you don't let hornets build a hive.  We had some in the yard a couple of years ago.  I tried to take a live and let live approach, but it didn't work out.  the father in law took a couple to the head and neck, so we went to war.  Four cans of hornet killer later and there were bodies everywhere.  We were hitting them in the air, on the ground, and down the hole.  After the battle, we were surveying the wreckage, when I heard the sound of a chopper coming in from the left.  I braced for impact, and felt the searing, vibrating burn as the assassin exacted her vengeance on me.  I never saw the assailant, but the damage was done.  Three days of a swollen neck and a week of pain.  Never again I cry, NEVER AGAIN!  All hornets must die!  :0)

  21. I refuse to feel guilty or apologize for my race. Straight from the Al Sharpton handbook: Anyone who wants to judge a whole race on the actions of a few is a racist. The percentage of white male Americans that have gone on shooting sprees is miniscule. Both of those hags can kiss my ass.

  25. I had the privilege of ROing the range part of the HCP class put on by the Cleveland Hunting Rifle & Pistol Club on Saturday.  The students, and some of guns surprised me.     Of the 28 students 15 were women.  Some were wives, but there were single gals there as well.  One young gal shot a pistol for the first time ever, her new 9mm Taurus.  She obliterated the  main mass of the target with only one flyer off paper, her 1st shot.  As many women as men used Ruger & Browning .22 autos, the majority guns & caliber that I saw.  That was a surprise to me.  One wife didn't have a shot outside the 9 ring shooting a target Ruger .22.     I saw one old perfect condition Colt Cobra that a girl used, and several single action .22 Rugers.  One guy qualified with a post war, matching s/n, made in West Germany P-38 in 9mm.   I qualified with a Colt .45 and did get some odd looks years ago.  USMC, State Trooper and Cowboy backgrounds always have had me shooting big caliber guns.  I had my wife, family and daughters shoot .40 Glocks or K frame .38 S&W revolvers.    I was probably wrong pushing all of them to shoot the bigger guns.  Everyone needs to shoot what they are most comfortable with, especially for a HCP range test.   It was good to see so many young women deciding to get a HCP.  After shooting we talked a lot about what & how women can carry now.  It was a most enjoyable time and I would do it again.   Cherokee Slim

  31. Oh yeah SOME of it is that. I just paid it today actually but it was only $75. Not sure where the extra $30 or so dollars came from but glad to have it. I know I'm not actually SAVING $100 but it sure feels better than having to pay $160 on top of this months bill. haha

  32.     No, there is no clear winner as the feature sets and available content vary greatly, most often due to the provider. That is why several sets in my house have both. The roku streams CAN be as good as the aTV streams but they aren't always, and the PS3 often beats out both.   Most people probably won't notice the small differences in image quality on a smaller screen, but they show up as glaring issues when projected in a much larger format.  :stunned:

  34.   It depends on the provider of the programming, for example I get Leverage the day after it airs, but on HBO content I didn't get access to game of thrones until well after it aired on cable. The majority are same day or next day though.   I have PS3s, Roku, and appleTVs and did pretty extensive testing, the roku's are good but they are no apple TV. Every TV in the house got an apple TV and the more often watched TVs in the den and the theater got one of each.   The deciding factor for the appleTV was that my wife liked it much better in actual use. (less timeouts, errors, and broken content) The airplay streaming is just icing on the cake.

  35. Yeah the main thing I like about the Apple TV is the ability to use airplay and stream the ipad or mac to the tv. If it wasn't for that I'd be looking at the roku. I only need one box so I don't mind springing the extra $50 for the Apple TV. I think you answered this but you DO have to wait usually around one day for the shows to show up? From what I looked at the season pass or individual shows are offered from itunes.

  37. Well mine's now on number 3. Miraculously, it still works. I just have to use it on cloudy days now. The rear sensor was shot with my SR45. Today the G17 just made sure to finish of that back panel. I think I was a little too worried about how close to the sensors I could get. Maybe next time I'll shoot a little higher. Be leery of a Chrony I ever have for sale in the Classifieds.

He's told me several times about catching a lot of shit about it and has now found it easier to tell the complainers to fuck themselves. There is no doubt that these goat fuckers will have to be dealt with here on our own soil someday since they have made it perfectly clear they aren't the religion of tolerance or peace.

  41. Margaret Thatcher on "Consensus" "Consensus is the absence of Leadership" "Ah consensus … the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies in search of something in which no one believes, but to which no one objects; the process of avoiding the very issues that have to be solved, merely because you cannot get agreement on the way ahead.  What great cause would have been fought and won under the banner 'I stand for consensus'?"

  46. Out of touch and out of control?  Seems an odd statement considering this bill would return Senator selction to the very method our founders intended.  I see nothing wrong with moving back toward the way our republic was set-up to operate.   And before anybody tells me that the people will do a better job of selecting Senators than the state legislature one only has to look at what we have (Corker and Alexander) to know just how baseless that argument would be.   Many here claim they want the power returned to the states that the federal government has stolen - this is a step in that direction.

  47. you can get a new junker or a solid used gun for about the same price.   An older s&w 10 (I think?) --- the classic 1960s or 70s era 38s ---  fairly cheap as they made a ton of them, everyone had one, and a lot of them were shot little and carried to death (finish and all are trashed but gun is sound).    Taurus makes a solid gun at a reasonable price, but you can still do better in the used arena IMHO.

  48. Maybe not but they are certainly "Chrony-piercing". Bad day at the range today: This was off a 308 rifle. 168 grain AMax. Chrony was about 10 feet away. It was working well and then 2 things: 1) the swivel on the tripod must have been loose so it tilted a tad too much and 2) I aimed for the bottom target without thinking. This is my stupid tax; I hate those.
