I'm far from a Middle East expert myself. But I feel that there are NO Islamic countries that are our friends. We are just tolerated for the money we send them. I think all we would have to do to settle the problems is to arm Israel to the teeth, sit back and watch the evening news.5 points

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2013/05/05/obama_to_ohio_state_grads_reject_voices_that_warn_about_government_tyranny.html#.UYbq0XGSKQA.facebook "PRESIDENT OBAMA: Unfortunately, you've grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that's at the root of all our problems. Some of these same voices also do their best to gum up the works. They'll warn that tyranny always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices." This left me speechless for a number of reasons... #1, for the last time: "We are not a @#%^&^#& Democracy! #2. Someone thought this was a good topic for the Prez to bring up? For years I have rented a cheap apartment because I have always been so tight with money. Since I am not married and do not have any kids, I have never needed a house. Anyway, to make a long story short, I had some cash sitting in my bank account doing absolutely nothing except losing money. I can't add any more to my 401-K due to government restrictions, so I figured now would be a good time to purchase a house considering interest rates are so cheap. For over a year I have looked at thousands of houses hoping to find something I liked. After a year of frustration I finally found something that met all the parameters I had set (all brick, county - but not in the boonies, acreage - but not a farm, and privacy). The brick house sits on a little more than 3 acres of wooded land (cannot see the house from the main road nor see the neighbors - what can I say, I'm not very sociable), it has a long gated driveway, and while it is in the county, it is only 5 miles away from shopping. This is the front of the house. Please forgive the pics, they were taken with my cell (I don't own a camera). This is the view from the front porch. :) I am excited about it, but I don't look forward to cleaning it as it is a little big for a single person. I have the contract, home inspection, approval from the bank (you guys would hate it if you knew who I went it), and now I am waiting for closing some time this month. Question. Does anyone have a recommendation on a riding lawn mower and a weed eater? Last year, I bought what I thought was a nice Craftsman gas weed eater, but it is a p.o.s.2 points

I honestly don't see how voting will effectively change anything in this country ever again. Vote for option A or vote for option B nets the same result. i think I will just go get in line and stick my hand out too.2 points

The problem doesn't exist with our government, it exists at the voting booth. Your fellow Americans are the ones destroying this country. If our gov't stepped so far out of line to warrant armed resistance they'd get thrown out of office at the next election cycle, but for now they will just tiptoe at the line of what is acceptable to your friends and neighbors. By the time our government steps so far over the line that liberty no longer exists and we become something resembling the socialist countries of Europe it will be to late to matter. People like us just won't exist in any significant number by then.2 points

Robert, I understand exactly what you're saying and some of me agrees with you. ....most of me however has decided I'm not going to lie to myself or other people any more and the truth is, 2/3's of my life is over. I don't care what others think anymore. I have no kids, no family and while I hope and pray all my TGO brethren (and their children) have long happy lives, I just don't care. I don't owe so e yuppie or his spawn an explanation. I don't have to answer to him or anyone else. I've decided to die the man I am right now. I like this guy so I'm going down with him. I know when I speak my mind, some of y'all get plum ashamed of me, Thats fine. I don't fault ya for it. I just do not believe anything will change in this country. Not peacefully anyway. Caring creates burden. Having a care to try to change the minds of those that oppose us is just more than I'm willing to give anymore. We have to be careful of what we say in open forums and all but I'll tell anyone this much; I DO NOT want any from of violent action. I DO NOT want to see people get hurt and die because we can't agree. BUT, I WILL NOT change, I will NOT give up my weapon and if you try to make me I will do my best to ........use it for what it was designed to do. I want to die an old man and on my death bed be able to say I never hurt anyone. .... If I can't do that, I'll get over it. I'm not a 'bury my head in the sand' apathetic loser. I see what's going on, I know what needs to be done. I just think its too little too late. Can anyone HONESTLY look me in the eye (err uh, computer screen) and tell me they really believe things will get back to the way they were?2 points

I was just perusing the Drudge Report when I saw a link to an article regarding the administration's stance on Syria. In the article, I read a quote from an administration official that stated: While I don't really care about the Security Council crap, I do agree with the first part, and the answer to the question is it has absolutely nothing to do with us. I am so confused about the entire middle east situation. I have no idea who is on our side and who isn't. If we do have allies in the region, are they just temporary like Sadam and the mujahideen was in the early 80s? Will we support and fund them to achieve our short term goals, only to have it bite us in the a$$ a decade later? Regardless, I agree so far with the administration for keeping us out of Syria (meaning - no boots on the ground). What do we have to gain by jumping into a civil war? Nothing. While I agree with the administration for not having a physical presence in Syria, I still disagree with the secret involvement we have in funding the Syrian rebels. I sometimes wonder if that is going to backfire on us, and eventually force us to put in our troops. McCain and Graham may get their wish after all.1 point

I'm with you, I don't think we're there yet... not because we're 'allowed' to vote for the lesser of two evils... although any disruption of that process would also cross my own red line. I'm still officially a fence sitter, and I'm not advocating an armed rebellion, only that it's just as silly to make threats of taking up arms against patriots, as it is for 'internet commandos' wanting to take up arms against the government. But, I do find it offensive to belittle valid concerns over possible future actions that may cause there to be a valid reason to take up arms... I also hope in the same thought that I never live to see that day, because when it happens it will be the worse kinda hell any of us have ever seen in our life times. But, make no mistake IMHO the road we're headed down as a country leads right to that fight, the house to house searches in Boston, really concern me, not so much the fact they happened, but over a 1,000 police officers and national guard troops not only stood by and allowed it to happen, but actively participated in the unlawful activities, and not a single reported case of one of those men refusing those unlawful orders. That along with a lot of other incidents doesn't give a very positive outlook on the future of liberty in this country. We're not there yet, but it's not out of reason to think we could get there in the not so distant future.1 point

You're gonna have a hard time convincing any reasonable person that the oath they took implies they should violently overthrow the government as soon as the oath taker interprets something to be unconstitutional. If that were the case there would be a lot of dead oath takers out there, and I can't help but acknowledge the irony of being accused of not upholding my oath as the sabre rattlers live and breathe. Go be a martyr if you think it is the right thing to do. I will continue to use the polls to make my voice heard.1 point

Just to point out, but you didn't take an oath to uphold what the majority of American's wanted at any given point in time, you took an oath to uphold the Constitution. Tyranny of the majority is still tyranny, and while 50% or 60% might agree with that tyranny it doesn't make it any less unconstitutional or evil. Our 'social contract' that we were born into (and we can get into how screwed up that entire idea is if you want), states that we have certain inalienable rights which come from our Creator, or our humanity, and no other man or group of men have the right to take away or infringe upon those rights... The founding fathers of this country, gave up a very limited subset of those rights, to society and only after being found guilty by a jury of their peers could their rights be infringed upon. So you can easily have a 'freely' elected 'government' that violates God given rights, and the restrictions placed on said government in the constitution, and still have a government that morally can be overthrown. Remember democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner. Liberty is a well armed sheep contesting the vote :) Good to know you're with the wolves if push comes to shove ;) Also, remember just because somebody says it's "legal" or "justified" under the law doesn't make it so... Every Jew killed in German - a 'freely elected government - were killed legally. 55 million Soviets were convicted of "crimes against the Soviet people" and executed between 1917, and 1987, all of which were "legal" killings, by a "freely" elected government. I just got done watching a documentary on Waco, you know it was 20 years ago last month that our federal government killed 80+ citizens including 20+ little children, all over a reported tax dispute. How many of those guys lost their jobs or went to jail? None, not a single person. I just watched as a large american city - the site of the Boston Tea Party, on the 238th anniversary of the 'shot heard around the world', was placed in an unconstitutional state of martial law and police officers none of which seemed to have any problem violating their oaths, illegally forced law abiding citizens from their homes at gunpoint, and searched those homes without warrants, to 'keep people safe' from the scary "terrorist". Reminding myself what was the number 1 unnatural cause of death in the 20th century, democide - the legal killing of citizens by their own government. And you feel the need to say that people concerned about their own government turning against them, and posing not only a threat to their lives, but their liberty and freedom is somehow not a threat even worth discussion... When a government starts to kill citizens - as our own government has - with no due process of law, that even if "freely elected" overthrow isn't a valid option? Please. It's no wonder that 29% of the voters are worried about an armed conflict with our government... and I for the life of me can't understand why anybody who swore an oath to protect and defend the constitution would threaten other patriots for wanting to defend their freedoms and liberties if push comes to shove.1 point

I'm glad you are so solid in your convictions; I guess we should expect you to fire the first shots any day now. I'm solid in mine. I will continue to fight an overbearing gov't the way our fore fathers designed; at the polls. If our government decides to suspend elections and pass laws without representation then I'll most certainly fight. Until then the problem is your fellow Americans who are voting for socialist encroachment. We must fight that ideology by education our friends, family and children. I fought for my country. I am a veteran. I have risked my life and taken the lives of those who fought against us. I am not afraid to fight again, but it will be for the right reasons. We have a system in place to remove our government that doesn't involve seeing our sons and fathers killed.1 point

Randall, you and I are in total agreement. Biblical teaching and commentery aside, the further along we go; the less I see any Islamic peoples or nations truely being a "friend" to this country and it's system of beliefs and government. Even the so-called "progessive and moderate" Islamists all seem to fall back to the basic tenaments of Islam. That being the destruction and/or subjugation of all races not embracing "The Will of Islam". "If''n you ain't with me, yo' agin me." Yes, I'm sure some will think that's a very simplistic view of things, but as one of my heroes said, " I'm just a simple man." and my views can usually be expressed in those terms. And like Charlie Daniels, I guess I do wear my heart on my sleeve for all to see. You may now feel free to disagree amongst yourselves.1 point

God, I sound like Al Bundy. You know "a fat woman came in the shoe store today...." Well this BMW driving goober with his nice clothes, metrosexual attitude and three little fairies for sons came in. I was putting a tire back on the car when one of the little kids ran back to his daddy and says "daddy, daddy, that man has a gun!!!". The man told the kids "Thats called an impact wrench, it looks like a gun but it only works on cars. It's perfectly safe". To which the kid replies, "No daddy, he has a REAL gun". The man the asked me(quite appalled ) " Sir, wha, wha, why uhhhh, Do you have a gun?". I says "Yeah, don't you?" He tells me "NO! I don't allow my family anywhere near firearms." I told him " Huh, well how does that keep your family safe from someone who don't give a ratz azz what you believe in? You know, they call them criminals for a reason, they don't care about laws, right or wrong. You think a criminal will wait around while you call the cops and then wait a little while longer till they get here? What you THINK means nothing, you chose to have a family and you're charged with their safety. Can you honestly tell me youre doing everything to provide it?" ...he probably won't be a repeat customer. Oh-frickin-well. It is sad people. Sad. You ain't gotta be a gun nut like us. I ain't big fan of driving nails but I own a hammer. I hate diggin ditches but I got a shovel. It's just a tool you hope you don't have to use but it sure sucks when you ain't got one.....and you're on the spot, in need of one. Why is that hard to understand? Where does this sense of "Avoidance will make me safe" come from? These are the people who will hide in the bathroom or basement when a volcano erupts. Yeah, duck and cover! Idiots. Rant over.1 point

If cops are involved I'm staying down. There is a better chance they're gonna hit what they're shooting at. I've said plenty of times that I fear the good guys more than the enemy because they have training. Having been shot at a bunch by cavemen I know the feeling, and I've never been paralyzed with fear. Having been drawn down on by "friendlies" on more than one occasion I can say that is an emotional event.1 point
