LEO was an idiot. Safest way to handle a firearm is always simply not to handle it at all. - OS6 points

This has nothing to do with Castle Doctrine the homeowner invited them there; it was simple self-defense. The homeowner had a right to pull a gun when the other guy attacked him. But that justification ended when the attacker ran and the homeowner pursed him.4 points

I'm not of the belief that gun owners have some God given responsibility to own a safe if you own firearms. If a child were involved I would probably be inclined to agree. But some scum bag broke I to her home and stole her property. I don't see how that was Her fault. Yes as a US Rep she could surely afford a safe. But this sets precedence that it's the homeowners fault if your stuff gets stolen.4 points

He got a 6 week old puppy yesterday. We're pretty sure he's a Belgian Malinois mix. We're still trying to decide on a name but leaning towards Gunner. We've been wanting another dog since we got the house so that our Husky would have a bud to play with. Being that he has either Shepherd or Malinois in him we're hoping Strangest thing though, he has 6 toes on each back foot.3 points

True Nobility “I ask not for his lineage, I ask not for his name; If manliness be in his heart, He noble birth may claim. I care not though of world’s wealth But slender be his part, If yes you answer when I ask, ‘Hath he a true-man’s heart?’ I ask not from what land he came, Nor where his youth was nursed; If pure the spring, it matters not The spot from whence it burst. The palace or the hovel Where first his life began, I seek not of; but answer this— ‘Is he an honest man?’ Nay, blush not now; what matters it Where first he drew his breath? A manger was the cradle-bed Of Him of Nazareth. Be nought, be any, everything, I care not what you be, If yes you answer, when I ask ‘Art thou pure, true, and free?†- Robert Nicoll3 points

I imagine the office asked her to unload it as an alternative to taking possession of the weapon for the duration of the stop which is something the law specifically allows for reasons of "officer safety". My question to the officer would be to ask how having me handle my weapon helps increase his safety? Wouldn't the weapon staying put in its holster be a much safer course of action for everyone involved?2 points

PRIMARY lead smelter. They were the last who smelted lead from lead ore. There are still secondary smelters functioning, who reclaim (recycle) lead. We still have the lead ore, in case we (the nation) needs it.2 points

He shouldn't have pulled the gun. He should have took those little sissy girl punches like a man and called the cops and had the attacker arrested on domestic assault charges. There was no deadly force with those girl punches. He definitely isn't MMA fighter or something. I think they're going to make an example out of this clown. As for the camera wilding woman, I think she was wanting to rev this guy up and catch something on video to screw him over with since they were having issues between child custody or whatever. What she got instead was a bullet in the lung by her new lover on accident. A clear case of if you go looking for trouble, you're going to eventually find it. Just my :2cents:2 points

Went to the LGS today with my wife to do a little shooting and check out the inventory. Well I see a shield and ask the salesman to take it out of the display case so I touch it and see how it feels in my hand. Before the salesman had a chance to take it out mother nature calls, so I go to the bathroom. I get back to the counter and my wife is filling out the paper. Now I think she is buying it for me. Wrong, she is buying it for herself :( She now has a new carry gun and I have to wait to see if they can get me one. We took it in the range and fired 32 rounds through it and it functioned perfectly. I did get to shoot 2 rounds through it and I liked it. The trigger was excellent, I guess when S&W had the recall fix they made improvements to the trigger. This gun has a test round dated 8/1/2013. So,it was built after the recall.1 point

The interesting thing to me is that the GOP establishment is screwed both ways with the Tea Party. They made some major tactical errors early on, and now the damage is such that I'm not sure it can be undone. The GOP has just assumed up until the shutdown that the Tea Party was going to caucus with them, and you see where that's gotten them. Yet, if they tell them to go take a hike, as many are encouraging, they won't be able to win without them. So in effect, that fairly small group definitely has a loud voice. And, they may wind up walking this whole American experiment off the cliff. They represent a big threat to the establishment on both sides of the aisle. It's too early to tell if they'll last or simply get purchased like the rest of their peers. It'll be interesting to watch.1 point

Don't do #2. This dog has no idea that his owners are douchebags. Killing the dog would make you a douchebag, much as suggesting that a dog be killed because of his owners is douchebaggish.1 point

Good looking pup, Erik. God made them cute so you wouldn't kill them for chewing everything you own.....and everything the neighbor owns. I love dogs.1 point

Do not shoot the dog unless it is a threat to you or your animals. Catch it and turn it over to the animal shelter. The neighbors may be saying it isn't their dog but if you shoot it they can make your life miserable if they can convince the authorities you shot the family dog. And despite what some people think, killing a companion animal is against the law unless it is a threat. Also, you want to really piss someone off then kill their kid's pet. At least if you turn it over to a shelter they can get it back and it might cost them money. Money is the biggest motivator to people like this. As far as the kids throwing rocks I would approach the parents and ask them politely to keep their kids from throwing rocks on your property. Next step would be to have a letter delivered in writing saying the same thing. Then after that I would go through the courts and ask for a court order preventing it. I am not sure LE can, or should, be involved in what is a civil matter. During this whole time I would try to get as much video evidence as you can to support your court case as well as for proof when they decide to damage your property.1 point

Yet another example of my don't give LEO's your permit unless you're required to do so under the law. They won't find out if you have a permit or not until after they run your D/L, and by then they've already written the ticket and likely won't bother asking about it. One day an officer in the name of "officer safety" will have a negligent discharge and end up shooting themselves, the permit holder or an innocent bystander, all because they thought it was a good idea to handle a loaded firearm for no good reason. At the very least we need to amend the law to require officers document every time they disarm a permit holder and the exact officer safety reason for that disarm. My guess is the number of these silly posts would go away with that single change.1 point

It's dumb. Never been asked to do it myself. But in a similar circumstance, I would comply, reload when he left and bitch about it on an internet forum. No point making more trouble unless you are willing to stick your neck out to make a point. There's a saying about choosing your battles.1 point

i would advise the wife not to say the weapon is loaded. i just give an officer my dl and permit without comment. all they have ever asked was were was the weapon located. to my way of thinking any time a weapon comes out of the holster the chances for a discharge , negligent or otherwise , goes up especially trying to unload it in a car. this situation seems to have decreased officer and civilian safety as opposed to increasing it. i might contact the chief of the pd and ask about the safety of this procedure and perhaps he can make it make sense. don't be argumentative but come across as a concerned citizen seeking clarification on the matter.1 point

The anti gun crowd already tried to make it the manufacturers fault and that didn't work so now it is on to the actual owners. I bet if it is used in a crime it will be spun as her husband's fault and not the criminal's. I should not be compelled to do anything I do not want to with my property, like lock guns in a safe. If I lay all my guns out on my front yard and they are stolen it is not my fault, it is the fault of the criminal that stole them. Yes I would be stupid for doing it but it would not be my fault. I honestly wish theft was a much more serious crime than it is. I would be for a mandatory minimum of years in jail but as it stands someone can have dozens of convictions for theft and as long as no one is physically hurt they get no jail time. Theft is the first step in most career criminal's lives and if we can severely punish them there I think a lot of the more serious crimes committed later by career criminal would be reduced. Criminals today know that their time in jail is going to be an easy road if, and that is a big if, that actually do any time. The criminals need to feel some discomfort or they will continue to break the law. Once they are convicted and sent to prison they should not be comfortable. They should be provided with food, shelter, safety and medical care. They have no consitutional right to a television. They should have no right to conjugal visits so they can produce another child I am going to have to support. No radios, drawing supplies or any commissary. And the food should meet nutrition requirements, not taste requirements. Do like what has been done with those who throw food. Blend the entire meal together into a slurry then add flour and bake it like a giant bisquit. I am talking about the meats, veggies, desserts, fruits and drinks all into a single bisquit. It works well and meets the nutritional requirements. I am sure it would be easy for a company to produce "jail bisquits" and it would be cheaper than most of the current meals that are prepared for inmates. Inmates should not eat and live better than our soldiers serving overseas.1 point

For some reason unknown to me they went up right along with AR's and ammo after Sandy Hook. I stopped by the Nashville gun show a week or so afterwards and while I waited in line (for a long time) I watched person after person pouring out of there carrying ammo cans! I got inside and saw .223 for well over a dollar per round at most tables and pretty much no AR's or AK's so I figured they much have had money burning a hole in their pockets and nothing to spend it on...?1 point

Thanks for the help guys, I've decided to forgo the luxury of a red dot & go with a basic set of irons. At last the battery won't run out! :)1 point

Well I just adjusted on the trigger and man was it worth it. I don't have a trigger pull gauge but it has to be around 2 pounds maybe a little less. I don't want it any lighter. I did all of the safety tests such as slamming the bolt, checking the safety, dropping it on end ,etc. this should take a lot of the shooter deficiency out of the equation for sure. It took longer to take the gun down than to make the adjustment.1 point

We where hunting out of a ground blind. She was shooting a Rossi single shot 223 loaded with Hornady 75 grain BTHP. I was around her age when I shot my first deer. She asked if her deer was bigger than my first deer. I told her yes as mine was a button buck.1 point

if they say 3.7 and you are over 5, you need a smaller dipper or a different powder. You can make a dipper if you get desperate, from something. A screw & a dowl rod, drill out a hole until it is what you want for example. the lee dippers (and any others that I know of) are sort of 'one size fits all' in that you get a few dippers and have to make it work (by using a powder and bullet for load data that weighs right in the provided dipper)1 point
