  1. What David does on here is nothing but well intended and he does more for this gun community than most of us do here in a lifetime. If anyone  says anything negative about him,. You will hear from me.. and you are not going to like it.. I might even get banned for it.

  5. While there may be some hiccups in the supply chain with the conflict over there going on, keep in mind that those hiccups occur even when there are no problems going on ... it's Russia after all ;), If there is a shortage or price hikes it will be completely American consumer driven, much like the .22 shortage has been.

  6. Each family must decide where the line is drawn and how they will act.    Every member must understand the possible consequences, should it come to that.   At that point, the possible losses resulting from both action and inaction are great.   Pray it will never come to that, but that is how you teach children exactly what responsibility is.  Is it right to teach your children to comply with every whim of authority?  Is it right to teach them to "...Crouch down and lick the hands which feed..." them?   If they will take your guns, next they take your God/personal belief system.  That is a historical fact.

  7. Sanctions won't involve ammo. I'm calling it right now (praying I'm right :D). This will just be another panic. Even in the worst case scenario, Ukraine and Romania are still producing steel case ammo. They can increase that production if it means more $$$ for them. Bulgaria and Bosnia are producing brass 7.62x39 as well, so you should always be able to get boxer primed, re loadable ammo. Most of the 5.45 and 7.62x54Rmm surplus comes from Ukraine anyway, so how would that be affected? Oh yeah, by everyone starting rumors and buying up every single round of commie ammo they see.   We are our own worst enemies.

  11. I think you misunderstand; at least you misunderstand me.   I don't think anyone and I know I'm not saying that our desire for and action regarding constitutional authority should be based on our personal economic situation.  There is, however, an economic reality here and that's all I'm trying to point out.   Before you or I or anyone decides to pledge our lives, our fortunes or our sacred honor on a course of action we (and anyone who depends on us financially such as our spouses and children) had better count that economic cost and be truly sure we are doing the right thing..

  12. For sure. Debt just makes unemployment an acute situation. You can cut off cable, you can eat Ramen, in extremis, you can even do without the electricity but if there are people demanding 2-3k (or more) from you every month, that income is essential. If you owe on your car, loss of that will reduce your options for finding new employment drastically.   If you have no debt, that 3-6 month emergency fund is a whole different ballgame.

  16. I an tell you authoritatively that if I see any ammo that David makes available to our members so that they and their kids can actually shoot for sale anywhere, we're going to have a big issue!   David and I have had this conversation multiple times.  He makes this ammo available to our members so that kids can continue to learn to shoot.  And, I'd encourage you to think about that a little bit.  If you're hoarding all your ammo and not getting out and shooting - who's teaching your kids to be responsible gun owners?  Shooters can be gone in a generation if we don't support it at home and support the programs like the Boy Scouts that teach kids to shoot.   I have ammo set aside, but I also have a deal with all of my friends - that if they're not going to teach their kids how to handle a firearm, then just ask and I'll be happy to teach them how to safely interact with one.  And, if I use my last round of .22LR doing that - that's okay.

  17. If I went to a gun show and saw .22 ammo for sale with a sign that said 'reserved for <some group of people>' I'd be asking how to become part of that group and thank that vendor for taking care of his supporters.   What happens at these ammo counters in the backs of stores is not the same thing.

  18.   +1,000 There are some that no matter what happens they must have day to day drama to make it through the day. They constantly bitch about anybody and everything just to make themselves feel better. I guess because they are so miserable in their own skin that they must try to make everyone else around them feel the same way.     Integrity in a business is what makes a great business. If you lie, cheat or steal, like CTD and now Academy, to get ahead then you should not be in business. And if you are one of whose who thinks it is OK to lie, steal or just be an underhanded crook to get ahead then you don't deserve anything but a 8x10 cell for the rest of your life.   That brings me to something I have said over and over again. David, DLM37015, has more integrity in his little finger than 99% of the businesses operating these days. He is honest, knowledgeable and does right by his customers 100% of the time. And not only when people are watching but when no one would even know. I have seen him make a problem right even when it wasn't his problem in the first place. And why does he do this?, because he cares about his customers and considers most of them friends. And this sense of feeling welcome by David, as well as being taken care of, is what makes his customers come back. We are all exclusive members of a club called "TGO" so if he wants to pass a deal on to the members here so be it. Plenty of businesses, like Sams and Costco, do it so no one should be condemning David for trying to take care of our community. I promise you will not meet a nicer guy to do business with and he consistently has the best prices anywhere. I have known David for about 8 years now and have never heard or met a customer of his that was unhappy.

  22. Following our group buy last year, a lot of people have asked if Cross Machine Tool has any plans to manufacture .308 receivers. I'm thrilled to get to announce this to you guys, but they're right around the corner, and they look every bit as good as their AR-15 pattern receivers. I've just finished building a pre-release set, and I've got to say that I am beyond impressed at the quality of the receiver set. I've built a lot of ARs over the years, and I've not built on a platform with higher quality. I'll get some pictures of the finished build up in a day or so. I'm still waiting on a flash hider. But, in the meantime, here are some quick preview pictures: My build consisted of the following parts: ALG Defense parts kit and QMS trigger - I've got to say, this is a great trigger for the price .308 front pivot pin DPMS .308 rear takedown pin .308 dust cover Midlength gas tube ICE Arms Low profile gas block ICE Arms .308 Bolt carrier group Magpul MIAD grip Magpul CTR stock Blackhole Weaponry 18" 1:11" polygonal rifled barrel AAC 51T Brakeout Flash hider muzzle brake BCM Gunfighter 7.62 Mod 4 charging handle Knights Armament URX 3.1 7.62 Rail Adapter System - this is why I was looking for the wrench last week I haven't had the opportunity to put more than a half dozen rounds through it, but am looking forward to really dialing it in for accuracy over the next few weeks. We should be THRILLED to be having these built here in Tennessee. So join me in congratulating CMT and moreover - Start saving your gun money!

  26. I believe that the ills of this country are a direct result of U.S. turning our backs on GOD. I say this as a whole, not singling anyone out. Every time I think of the Millions of baby's aborted I wonder how WE will pay for this as I know that the Bible plainly states "Do not suffer the little children" I know that all those senseless murders has hurt our GOD and he is not happy about it. I always remind people how GOD allowed HIS chosen people to wander in the desert for 40 years and they could have easily walked across it in 3 weeks. If this is true, how long do you think he will let us "wander" in the desert. We have allowed the minority atheists to take GOD and prayer off of most everything, but is still puzzles me that "In God we Trust" is still on our money. The question is do we still put our trust in GOD??

  31.  Something to think about                              OBSCENE SALARIES ...   THE WORK ETHIC WE INHERITED GROWING UP HAS FALLEN PREY TO THE 'WELFARE' SYSTEM’   The Cato Institute released an updated 2013 study (original study in 1955) showing that welfare benefits pay more than a minimum wage job in 33 states and the District of Columbia. Even worse, welfare pays more than $15 per hour in13 states. According to the study, welfare benefits have increased faster than minimum wage. It’s now more profitable to sit at home than it is to earn an honest day’s pay.   Hawaii is the biggest offender, where welfare recipients earn $29.13 per hour, or a $60,590 yearly salary, all for doing nothing. It is very interesting, when most areas of the budgets whether National or State are subject to cutting the welfare system seems totally immune and actually provide increased benefits almost annually.  A lot of this is the 47% that Romney referred to when running for the Presidency and that Santa Obama counted on to win the last election.    Here is the list of the states where the pre-tax equivalent “salary” that welfare recipients receive is higher than having a job:   1. Hawaii: $60,590 2. District of Columbia: $50,820 3. Massachusetts: $50,540 4. Connecticut: $44,370 5. New York: $43,700 6. New Jersey: $43,450 7. Rhode Island: $43,330 8. Vermont: $42,350 9. New Hampshire: $39,750 10. Maryland: $38,160 11. California: $37,160 12. Oregon: $34,300 13. Wyoming: $32,620 14. Nevada: $29,820 15. Minnesota: $29,350 16. Delaware: $29,220 17. Washington: $28,840 18. North Dakota: $28,830 19. Pennsylvania: $28,670 20. New Mexico: $27,900 21. Montana: $26,930 22. South Dakota: $26,610 23. Kansas: $26,490 24. Michigan: $26,430 25. Alaska: $26,400 26. Ohio: $26,200 27. North Carolina: $25,760 28. West Virginia: $24,900 29. Alabama: $23,310 30. Indiana: $22,900 31. Missouri: $22,800 32. Oklahoma: $22,480 33. Louisiana: $22,250 34. South Carolina: $21,910   As a point of reference the average Middle Class annual income today is $50,000, down from $54,000 at the beginning of the Great Recession. Hawaii, DC, and Massachusetts pay more in welfare than the average working folks earn there. Is it any wonder that they stay home rather than look for a job. Time for a drastic change. America is virtually bankrupt.                                   ____________________   Are we ‘nuts’ or what?      How do we un-do this type of stupidity on the part of      Americans?  This is pure lunacy.   But wait … it gets worse:        The salary of a retired President is $180,000 For Life.           Of course the list of other benefits is enormous.        The salary of a retired member of Congress (i.e. House           and Senate) is $175,000 For Life.  Pure stupidity!   And … It gets worse:      The salary of the ‘Speaker of the House’ is $223,000           For Life.        The salary of the Majority/Minority leaders is $193,400           For Life.   Now let’s do some comparisons:        Average salary of a teacher …….. $40,065      Average salary of a soldier           deployed in Afghanistan …….. $38,000   Now check this out compared to one of the richest members      of Congress:        Nancy Pelosi will retire as: 1.    Congress person at $175,000 For Life. 2.    She has retired as Speaker of the House at  a salary $223,500 For Life. 3.    When she retires from the Minority Leader  she will receive $193,400 For Life.      This means Nancy Pelosi one of the richest members      of Congress will eventually retire on $591,900 For Life      including FREE medical which is not available for a      US citizen … you know the taxpayers who contribute      to Pelosi’s obscene benefits.  And now understand, she      is just one of the hundreds of members of Congress      that floats in and out every year receiving these huge      benefits.   Don’t you think that just maybe we the people have found where budget cuts should actually be made?  And the US Congress at the recommendation of the Obama regime wants to cut our military capabilities but still retain their unwarranted benefits.       =

  33. Dustbuster, I totally agree on the two missing girls you mentioned. I hope they will be found alive & well. And it's not impossible that they will. Look at the three girls in leveland that had been held captive for years. Another case that bothered me for decades was the Marcia Trimble case. Had no connection to it whatsoever, but weighed on me until the perp was caught 25yrs later. Holly Bobos case bothered me the same way. Had to be someone close to know their way around there. Also thought it strange the brother didn't do more than he did. Case is still under investigation.

  36. Since when is Medicare, Medicaid, SS an entitlement? It is not an entitlement because we all paid into it. Welfare, on the other hand, is an entitlement because those who receive it did not pay for it. Pretty sure we all paid into it so we could have a retirement check later. I would have much rather had that money to invest towards retirement than give it to the government. Social Security IS our retirement that WE paid for so it is not an entitlement.

  39. I sell health insurance policies every day that do not conform to the ACA mandates. I can sell them cheap enough to justify the $95/1% fines for not having a govt approved plan and give customers a much better plan. The people this doesn't benefit are the sick people who are uninsurable and need the ACA plans that don't underwrite their policies any longer. The others that think they are getting a deal are the ones who get subsidies. Well guess what? yes they get a plan for free or cheap but when they need something covered they still have a $6k deductible to meet the ACA plans are no win for everyone!

  40. Two years puts it to spring of 2016. edited noting that it's two years past the current extension, making it come due October 1, 2016   I'm going to look at it on the positive side of things.  If there's one thing Obama did a remarkable job of in 2007-2008 it was the dismantlement of the Clinton machine.  Further, in making her Secretary of State, he ran her so hard for his first few years in office that she looked like she had been hit by a train.  I'm going to look at this as one final Obama "gift" to Hilary.  Let her explain this thing and try to own it as she seeks the White House.   Couple in the documents just released just released from the Clinton White House, and she's got a real tar baby on her hands.  Of particular note is this one on keeping your doctor - remember that this is from 1994:         The ostensible purpose of the delay was to ease the burden on Democrats in November.  I expect it's not going to do much good, but Obama has to try something.  If the GOP takes the Senate in November then they can really start pushing back with more than just useless gestures.   Interesting times we live in.

  46. So what that this is happening in Connecticut at the moment?   We really are talking about possible gun confiscation; would anyone have dreamed that possible 50 years ago?  I wouldn't have...not in any state in this country (and I've lived in several).  I don't really think CT authorities will do it but the fact that it's even, apparently, being considered based on a number of news stories I've read should make all of us stop catch our breath. There may well come a time when each of us will have to decide whether to "turn them in" or face the consequences (the consequences being prison or perhaps even death).   There is NOTHING so special about the gun culture in Tennessee or any state that guarantees that this cannot happen here...let one deranged crackpot kill a dozen or two kindergartners in a school here in Tennessee and just wait to see what kind of bogus, unconstitutional laws this legislature might be willing to pass; then what are you going to do when the legislature says your gun is now illegal because it looks mean or tells you that you can't have a "high capacity clip" that holds more than 10 rounds...not just not be able to carry it in public but now allowed to have AT ALL (that's a rhetorical question...I'm not looking for a real answer here...just offering up something for people to consider)?   I'm not fanning the flames or for a shootout either but I do think we need to be aware of what's happening in CT as it may well be an example of what will be on our own doorstep someday.
