  1. In the army (maybe DOD wide), they pack many things in desiccant so I collected them instead of discarding the bags upon opening the item. I chuck mine in the oven, bag and all on a cookie sheet for a couple hours then put them back in the safe. Recently I came across a sale of one you plug in, with a moisture/temp sensor which stays outside the safe, lets you know when to plug it back in to dry. But I may look for a can to perforate so I can tell when the others need a recharge.
  2. Respect, meh; they are doing it for publicity otherwise they would just do it and be quiet about it. IMO they are very left leaning and only "support" veterans because it helps their bottom line. Besides, if I were running a business I would rather hire veterans who were honorably discharged because at the very least they have learned how to be on time and meet guidelines. So if you get that kind of worker and can get some public props for doing it, well win-win. And before someone says it, I do understand that there are some vets I wouldn't trust to make my coffee, but there are fewer of them than there are school aged ones in the same boat.
  3. I would rather they work too, but after they are fully vetted. And the way those governments are, that may never be.
  4. What it says to me is that Starbucks considers Veterans on par with foreign refugees, as they are pledging to hire the same number of them as veterans.
  5. I have started avoiding amazon, unless on sale, many of their items are just not very competitively priced, seems like they upped the price to cover "free" shipping, and they collect TN Tax. I have used jet, Walmart, and just straight to the vendors site depending on price, many times beating amazon rates.
  6. Ha, I did 1k for 300Blk, and about to do another 1k for .277WLV. I learned my lesson with the 300Blk though and have the proper equipment to do it faster this time...I think. I looked at the auctions when I was looking for some brass for the first conversion, but I didn't have the room for that many. Be nice to get a group buy going on one of these.
  7. That's actually a good question, but I would ask it this way; as a passenger, are you in possession of the vehicle? Though I believe if you are driving, whether you own it or not, you're covered, I'm not sure a passenger would be.
  8. The thing is, it's still there: This lists ads the old way https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/forum/39-firearms-classifieds/ This lists it the new way. https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/classifieds/category/3-firearms-classifieds/
  9. One was fired the other was probably either in a mag or in a mag pouch because their's no rifling on the hit round.
  10. I think an auto analogy is more like Lexus vs Toyota. I own a mix of AR brands, and honestly see no difference. Of course, I don't run mine hard and don't need it for combat though I would trust all of them to do so. PSA, and others, source their parts from other manufacturers they are just stamped PSA. So you may have parts by BCM, Aero Precision, Olympic Arms, FN etc. I have a couple of their uppers and lowers, seperate triggers, nitride and nickle boron BCGs, parts kits etc, and as of yet haven't had an issue with anything. So IF, some of these parts use lower quality material, it hasn't failed yet. Another thing is, there haven't been too many reports of PSA having bad builds, some yes, but so have other mfgs, but not enough to make me worry.
  11. With some items that may be the case, maybe even some weapons, but with ARs, IMO mind you, the $ is mostly in hanguards, stocks and maybe triggers. PSA ARs are rather decent, since you're in Clarksville, if interested, I can show you my PSA pistol to get hands on with it. With their "blems", the best deals, as of yet I have been unable to find the blem. Their furniture isn't bad, magpul, m-lok, and keymod, though unsure of HG mfg., but feel decent enough.
  12. You would just be paying for a name then, PSA has some decent quality ARs, I see no difference between them and the Spikes, S&W ARs I have. Its just that you are paying for an AR that is priced right. If I didn't have the number of ARs I have right now, I would be getting one of theirs..still might, I have another wildcat I'm looking at.
  13. It's called supply and demand, I highly doubt that there would be more 'crime guns' if they could be purchased legally since it would be just as illegal for them to do straw purchases.
  14. So how does that work? So in a few weeks when I head to TX I should try and get a gun there so it would involve us too? It seems that that ruling, if the appeal loses, should be for district 5 and 4 (or wherever DC is) since the customer was from DC. Or, again if the appeal loses, does TX, LA, MS get to sell to other states?
  15. Ha, beat me to it; I just got done falling for click bait too. I hope this gets some traction, specially now that the SC won't be too far Left Leaning. So if the Appeal loses (or goes to the SC), it should affect the entire US since it's an FFL rule right?
  16. You don't see more suppressors being used because they are not "silent". Most killings are not professional hit jobs, so while some have used pillows and the like to muffle the sound of gunfire most don't bother. Also, who here will be using a suppressor on their CCW EDC? I am sure some will try, but most do not want the extra length on an EDC.
  17. Finally, someone misses me.
  18. Nay! Looks like something we recovered after the downfall of Saddam. I'd say something like this:
  19. Not a fan myself, but do think it will happen now. The last administration probably dragged their feet on this, the new one, hopefully, may just get it done.
  20. Yea, on second thought, I think I'd keep the hi-point. http://freshpics.blogspot.com/2008/12/ugliest-prostitute-mug-shots.html
  21. Hmm, maybe I need to stock up on hi-points.
  22. Nice, hopefully soon anyone that wants one get one from the CMP. http://www.alloutdoor.com/2016/01/19/a-cmp-1911-update-from-cmp-chief-operating-officer-mark-johnson/
  23. Never left stuff in a bag but being that I was a Logistician my last few years in the Army, I flew in and out of country commercially quite often. Try showing up positive on the explosives residue test a few times...I'm surprised I didn't end up permanently on a no-fly list. Luckily, they recognized that many soldiers coming home from conflict areas may be contaminated no matter what they do, so never stripped searched, just given extra scrutiny. My travel companions have had to surrender a few pocket knives now and then, silly critters. And have had to get with the embassy a couple of times when certain countries wanted to confiscate our weapons, yea just what you need, showing up in indian country without your weapons or gear.
  24. I guess it depends, I'm not earning anything off of them, in competition or resale. All my guns and rifles will achive my goal, whether thats getting sub-MOA, CNS shots if needed, or just chasing that can around the range. But I have seen way too many ARs for sale that are priced quite high, not that they're not worth it or anything, just that the sticker shock is there, unless you delve into the specs and price them out. But for the average buyer, a casual scan will probably put them off. I guess it applies to the higher end guns and knives as well, most, unless they are really desirable, won't sell at their actual value. So yes, I can afford a good trigger, but will I get $100-$300 out of said trigger, I doubt it. Even scopes I skimp on, somewhat, there is no way I'm putting a 1k scope on a rifle I purchased for under that amount. The most expensive optic, that didn't come mounted on an acquisition, is the night scope (with a coupon and free shipping) and that was a present to myself,...still get pangs about it too. All I need is decent glass, and an aiming reference, most times I don't go above 4 power, even though most my scopes go to at least 9.
  25. It has a built in one, works ok close in but I have an IR filter on a surefire that lights up a long ways.
