How much you wanna bet. Guns have become way to mainstream, TV shows, Wal-mart selling assault rifles, every other person in the US seems to have a HCP permit. A female US Congresswoman attempted assassination and murder of young girl in the process does not even hardly raise an anti gun news story. He will be re-elected, nothing will happen to our gun rights and we will have pay a premium and endure shortages until the fearmongering subsides.2 points

In this case I think we are our on worst enemies. Panic buying and hoarding ammo/supplies/guns starts its own vicious cycle of shortages.2 points

Keep your head in the sand brother, it won't be long now. Every socialist on the planet starts with disarming their populace! If Obama gets a second term he will have an Executive order restricting firearms in the first month. By his sixth month we will be lining up to turn them in. Just remember this prediction. http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2011/12/28/president-obamas-anti-gun-agenda-shows-no-sign-stopping/2 points

No it doesn’t and I could care less what the implications are or what they will be. Did the guy get out of his truck and attack and kill that kid, or did he get out, confront the kid, and then try to walk back to his truck when he was attacked. Was he in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm? Those are the questions I want answered. If that kid wasn’t doing anything wrong and that guy started a situation that led to the kids death; I think he should be convicted of murder. However, we don’t have a justice system, we have a legal system. And if lawyers can make a jury believe that the kid attacked him while he was getting back in his truck; he may get off. People like him don’t need to carry a gun, unfortunately by the time that is discovered it’s usually too late.1 point

The only philosophy or viewpoints I’m interested in are the legal ones surrounding this. Racists on both sides will make race an issue. Since we don’t know either person involved we have no idea if race was an issue. And unless someone is charged with a hate crime it won’t matter.1 point

I'm a member of numerous forums, shooting organizations and gun clubs. They're thousands of us who share my opinion on patronage of establishments who prohibit the legal HCP in their place of business. So, I took the liberty of emailing Waffle House and speaking on behalf of those of us who will not visit Waffle House due to their gun-buster signs denying us and our families the right of self defense. It's important to let these establishments here from us, as the ante's are giving them an ear full. I hope you'll also spend a few minutes and let these business's know they're losing mega bucks posting those gun-buster signs, keeping law abiding citizens from spending their money there. The following is what I emailed to the corporate Waffle House. I doubt I'll receive a reply but, at least they heard from yet another second amendment supporter. You've had a rash of WH shootings and robberies here in TN lately. Perhaps your robbers don't see the gun-buster signage posted at all your facilities. They're literally thousands of us former Waffle House patrons that will not spend our money there due to your unreasonable stance on personal self defense. Should you not believe they're literally thousands of patrons not visiting Waffle House because of your liberal stance on 2nd Amendment liberties, please let me know and I will gladly send you numerous forum links discussing our patronage. Myself and thousands of others look forward to dining again at your establishment should corporate decide to do the right thing and allow legal HCP holders to legally have the right to defend themselves and families from the vicious criminals targeting your establishments. Sincerely,1 point

Well I guess I will just have to send more to the NRA so that does not happen. What most fanatics on both side of the issue dont realize is that neither side wants to win this battle, they just want to keep it going. If one side wins either way the money flow will stop. There is no money to be made by winning the war, only fighting it. Should the NRA obtain total victory and create a law that would forever take away the threat that we could lose our firearms do you realize how many people that work for the NRA would be out of a job. Same goes for the anti gun lobby. Trust me both sides will play this game long after you and I are both dead and gone. There will be small victories on both sides to keep the masses sending money to fight on, but if one side obtains total victory they both lose in the long run and they know it. The gun rights issue is not about principals or peoples rights any more it is just another way the American are being duped by a bunch of lawyers and lobbyists.1 point

This doesn't make any sense whatsoever. According to his Daddy, he was just down the road at a convenience store getting an iced tea and some Skittles on the way back to Daddy's girlfriend's home. So he's late coming back because he's dead, and Daddy doesn't ask after him? Daddy doesn't know he's dead and in the morgue for three days? Am I getting something wrong here??!! Someone explain this to me. It doesn't pass the smell test.1 point

Definately would not have happened. If cool heads would have prevailed... It ain't legal to whip somebody's ass either, even if they're in your space.1 point

The NRA is over the top right now. There ARE some real threats. Obama's ability to flip the balance in the Supreme Court is real.1 point

I agree. Just like people don't like to look back at Bush don't look back to 1998 or 2008 to attempt to get people on the crazy train. Obama is a terrible president, but he hasn't done anything to show that he is after my weapons stash. After I renewed my NRA membership in january I have received more calls from them attempting to freak me out and make more donations to stop gun seizures. I spent a small mint on guns and ammo in '08. I won't be sucked into doing again this year. I'll wait and buy from others who buy/pay too much this time around.1 point

When they come and kick in your door to take your guns and ammo, you'll just have more guns and ammo for them to take. And a lot less money.1 point

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! That post pretty much sums up this whole conversation. As one old time deputy told me when I first put on a gun & star, "There are 3 sides to every story- his side, her side and the truth".....1 point

Obama and the Brady bunch didn’t do anything last election and I doubt they will get anything done after this election. Will they try? Absolutely. Will they get anything done that can trump States Rights or the recent SCOTUS decisions? Doubtful.1 point

I know a few anti's who absolutely feel that way...I've also seen a couple of them change their minds when they became a victim and realized that when it counted, they were completely at the mercy of a thug.1 point

I'm gonna have to step on some toes and say the nra has done more to raise prices by fear mongering for donations then anything else. Obama doesn't have the clout or ability to enact anti-gun legislation no matter how much the media and the nra tell us otherwise. I know where his stance is but he will not be able to even do as much as Clinton did. Just a fact.1 point
-
What EXACTLY has Obama done or said to scare anyone. The only people we have to thank for the high prices and shortages are our old friends at the NRA for making everyone think Obama is coming for our guns in an attempt to get you to send them more money.1 point

Ha. Yeah, bugout for me would mean retreating from the deck to the living room. I carry a 16 inch bbl AR on the back forty (well, back 3000 now) for coyotes and such. I'm a little iffy on using a shorty barrel with a round that needs all the MV it can get. Cheap optical and iron backups. If I were buggin out on wheels I would choose a 30 caliber platform. Come to think of it, an M1 carbine would do as well for the nature walks, and is lighter than the AR to boot. Hmmm....1 point

Well, a lot of "appeals to emotion" here. He was somebodys' child. So are we all, last I checked. Being under the legal limit for alcohol does not an angel make. Disregard all the politically driven emotionally charged pravda, and we are down to the fact that the responding officers did not arrest. The local prosecutor did not believe there was enough evidence to indict. An on-the-scene witness stated that the shooter was attacked from behind, and was on the ground being beaten when he pulled the trigger. The only conflicting witness, apparently was the dead guys' girlfriend, who was on the phone. I personally have no doubt that the girlfriend would only tell the truth, don't you? So, given the facts, there are two possibilities here - either this was almost certainly a justified shoot, or the town of Sanford is a KKK hotbed, including at least 2 cops, the chief of police, and the county prosecutor, who are conspiring to protect a hispanic shooter. Occams razor, anyone? I doubt at this point it would be possible to find an unbiased Grand Jury, this man having been convicted and sentenced in the court of public opinion by everyone up to and including the POTUS. Tough times for this guy. Interesting (and not in a good way, I'm afraid) to see what Holder and co. say about the Black Panthers putting a bounty on his head. And as an aside, I seem to recall at least once before in this forum a rush to judgement against an HCP holder in a shoot which was later found to be completely justified. We more than anyone should realize that the reason so many people are getting permits is that sometimes, some people need to be shot. Unless I am in a minority, and the majority are getting the permits for the cool points or something...1 point

there will be a new deal today (i think) FWIW S&B ammo uses oil lined boxes so they actually hold up and last much longer in storage then other commercial ammo.1 point

"If" I remember correctly, the Legislature is trying to more clearly define the phrase, "for the purpose of going armed". Not sure where this is in the process, or if it will get anywhere, but like you said, it is pretty much open to interpretation. Not unusual to have many interpretations on the side of the road in a traffic stop. In reply to the OP question, Open carry is perfectly legal in TN, tho it's not encouraged in some circles ( hope this doesn't start the standard debate here ). No permit, no carry, open, concealed. Just get the permit, not that difficult.1 point

I hear you on that. The last test I took for a IT job with Metro actually had grammar questions, as in which of the following sentences is the most correct. Kinda threw me for a second...had to circle back around for those1 point

not to get into "legal" issues, you can carry a gun like that as long as there is not one in the chamber. Plus, having one in a chamber with the barrel folded would be a dumb idea anyways (not sure if its even possible). On other notes, if you want to shoot something nicer, I have a sig 220 you can shoot or glock 22. I just sold the glock 27 to make way for something else...1 point

Ever notice that they do it when they are backing up to a curb as well? No, your Harley does not have a reverse ###hole, and everyone hates you. I own 4 motorcycles by the way. Any welding shop should have what you need. It's not much different than copper pipe soldering, just hotter with closer fitting joints. We use it a lot at work. The term "silver solder" is somewhat of a misnomer... the process in which it's used is more brazing than soldering. To be somewhat technical about it... soldering, brazing, and welding differ by temperature and the amount of diffusion in the joint. Soldering is low temp (<~850 deg F) and there's little to no diffusion in the joint. Brazing is mid temp (~900 < x < 2100 F), doesn't melt the substrates but does involve some diffusion. Welding is high temp (~>2200 F), melts the substrates and has a lot of diffusion.1 point

Point was not to correct your English, but to re-emphasize the fact anytime you modify a gun it will take some fine tuning to get back your reliability. I wasn't trying to put you down. The Meaningless Detail Minded Freak1 point

Actual gun model may vary. They should suit you with enough spare parts to carry through to the next life. CALIBER should be the priority. If you're stocking, you want something common. These are NOT in any particular order. The bulk of southeastern United States Firearms will be chambered in these. *9x19 *45 ACP *.40 S&W *.223/5,56 *.308/7,62x51 *7,62x39 *30/06 *30/30 *12g1 point

I would use my plr. Its small, suitable for short range combat, indoors or out, dealing with cover, etc. I would stick the (currently illegal, but in a situation, ask me if I care) forend grip/bipod on it, low power scope or red dot, load up the AR mags, and call it good. Any AR style pistol would be as good, point is I would keep it a small, light package to conserve weight & function in tight spaces. I do not think I would use the current pistol scope, I think a red dot would be better for combat.1 point

Except the HK's are clones as they aren't real MP5s and they are made by Umarex which has a bad rep anyways. I'm not trying to dog on anyone for owning one. But you pay alot extra for HK on the side. Of course, all HKs are ridiculously overpriced anyways.1 point

First, no problems with my GSG. And its been incredibly fun to modify. Second, I haven't seen many SBR'd HKs but I haven't seen many stock ones either. They are really overpriced for what they are. I would recommend calling someplace like ADCO to see what they say.1 point
