Our "job", and national security concerns were done in Afghanistan 8 or 9 years ago. Since then we've been trying to do nation building, which we suck at... A good President would have a simple foreign policy, mess with us and we'll place your country back in the stone age, no power, water, or bridges left standing... then you're on your own to fix the mess. If we had followed that policy, less than 200 troops would have been killed, and it would have saved us almost a trillion dollars of our grandchildren's money.4 points

Shorts aren't exactly quiet out of that short barrel. Even out of a 4.5" barrel shorts will ring your ears. I would grab the new CCI "quiet 22". They use a 40 grain, rather than 29 grain, bullet which hits pretty hard. It also uses as regular sized case so accuracy is good too. Velocity is listed at 710. Dolomite1 point

Picked up the 9mm version Friday. First impressions is it is smaller than I thought , very slim and concealable. Came packed in oil. Saturday morning I cleaned it up, (very simple takedown and reassembly) and headed to the range. I must say WOW ! it is an amazingly accurate handgun with very little recoil. I shot the mp shield better right out of the box than any handgun I have ever tried. No issues at all, put 150 rounds through it with no problems and had a blast. I like everything about this handgun. This will become My EDC as soon as I can find a good IWB for it. All I can say is the reviews and reports I have read online are accurate about the quality of the MP Shield. If you get a chance get yourself One, you want be disappointed.1 point

My son brought this event to my attention and since I always like a challenge I'm thinking about doing it if I can now talk him into it. I'm not much of a runner, but hey it's only 5K (3.1mi). The TN event is in Chapmansboro which is near Ashland City on 3/3/0/12. Plenty of time to get ready. The home page link is below the video and it answers pretty much all your questions. And in case you were wondering, this is not a shooting and running event. It says you can't use weapons to protect you from the undead. Oh well. Who's in? http://www.runforyourlives.com/1 point

If GWB did a radio interview with someone named "pimp with a limp" a hole would be ripped into the space time continuum when the liberal media exploded.1 point

As a former police officer myself from another state that issues ZERO handgun permits - Personally, I would REALLY think twice about ---ordering--- a citizen to handle a firearm simply because of liability especially with it being a stressful situation for the permit holder. You have to realize if any accident happens, its ALL on you. Could you see the driver accidentally hitting the horn? There are far too many things that could go wrong. You may want to rethink your routine.1 point

The difference between us and USSR is the USSR was attempting to overtake the entire country. We are just there to get rid of the Taliban, which is a small portion of the populace. There are a lot of the population who want the Taliban gone unfortunately they are not willing to risk their family to do it. The Taliban will, and does, kill family members of anyone who they know help the the US. The only way to win a fight with them is to remove their option of going to paradise when they die. They are fighting for their God. And when they die fighting for their God, and become a martyr, they go to paradise. The believe that if they are killed fighting the infidels they go to paradise NOW and do not have to wait until they die later. So to them there is an incentive to die and that incentive is going to meet with Allah in paradise now, rather than later. So in order to win they must be made to believe they will NOT go to paradise and be with Allah when they die. Not sure of how we could do that but until we remove paradise as an option they will continue to get people willing to fight us. Most fighters are just those recruited under the guise they will go to paradise if killed. The intentionally choose individuals who have nothing left to loose then promise them a way to paradise ahead of schedule as well as promises that the Taliban will take care of their family. They are a very superstitious people and believe a lot of what they are told. I am really, really surprized we haven't used propaganda to instill a fear of not going to paradise if they die killing us. Maybe if they believe they are not going to paradise they will be reluctant to join the Taliban or fight for them. This is why Israel's policy of hanging anumal blood in buses has reduced the number of suicide bombers. Muslims belive that if their blood is mixed with animal blood at the time of their death they will not go to paradise. Perhaps we need to make a public statement that all ordinance, small and large, is processed with and contains pork blood. The lubricants are pork based, our paints are pork based as well as any metals. That would remove all chance, hopefully in their eyes, of going to paradise when they die from our munitions. The problem I have with either one of them talking about support for the middle class is that the government shouldn't be supporting the middle class. If I remember correctly, the middle class supports the government(or has in the past). Our government was established to provide the protection of certain unalienable rights and no more. Until the government can limit its self to protecting those rights then we will never be the great nation we were. Those who work the hardest get the spoils. No one owes us anything. You want nice things work for them. You want nicer things, work harder. This philosophy has gone by the wayside. If you could show me a politician who truly believed in serving the people as a whole and not a small group of contributors I might watch a debate. Otherwise they are saying what they think people want to here. The whole campaign process has become a farce in to who has the most money to spend. Limit each campaign to$1 million dollars each and take the big business buying politicians out of play. We just had an example of big business controlling our government happen here in TN with the Parking Lot bill. Do you think it is any difference in Washington. Rant off!1 point

I saw it earlier today, pretty effective at getting your attention. I'm not a big fan of the GOP but i'm not any fan of the socialist democratic party. That's why i'm about to head down to the Pegram City Hall and vote early for R.R. While I wish I had a better candidate to vote for the main mission is to get the current Communist in Chief out of the White House.1 point

He didn't let anything slip. He openly said years ago that he wanted to see all semi-auto guns banned. Some people seemed to think that meant assault weapons; he didn't say that and I don't think that's what he meant. I don't think he can get it done, but I don't see how anyone can be surprised when he tries; especially when he doesn't have to worry about getting reelected.1 point

A decent country, which I hope we still are, is never going to "lay waste to everything" in a country because it simply isn't rational or moral to kill innocent people (which is what we would be doing under the scenario above. What I'm saying is, as long as terrorists exist we will need to have intelligence operatives on the ground so that when we are attacked, we know WHO to lay waste to. What we don't need are thousands of our troops billeted in these god-forsaken armpits of the world on a continuing basis to try and save them from themselves.1 point

We've been over this a bunch of times before, it is no longer enough for me to vote against someone. I have to be voting FOR a candidate. I cannot, in good conscience, vote for Romney. There is a better candidate on the ballot and he will receive my vote. I reject as false your assertion that any vote not for Romney is a vote for Obama.1 point

If you are saying that the election is really no more than just entertainment for the masses without a real possibility of changing the downward direction of our country (a position that does bear consideration), then that analogy holds up. Otherwise, not so much. If a candidate is on enough state ballots to numerically win the election, they should be included in the debates, period. This is about the governance of our nation, not a late night talk show. On a personal note, you seem to be taking it awfully personally that a few of us think your guy is a total bag of dishonest #### whom cannot be trusted. Relax, it is just politics, we're ####ed either way. No sense getting too upset about it.1 point

Yes, even if they don't show in the polls. The reasoning begin that being having them in a debate with the R and the D gives a clearer picture of the other choices and shows how little difference there really is between the R and D. Both the Libertarian and Green parties would pull significant numbers away from the R&D if given equal access in what is now a rigged debate structure controlled by the R&D parties.1 point

It's always easy to question the moderator, but she deserves the criticism she's going to get on siding with Obama and curtailing the debate on Benghazi. She may ultimately do the President more harm than good, though as this gives an opening to talk about what really happened. They only allowed Hillary to take ownership of it this morning, and that's after dodging questions for two weeks. Offended? The American people should be offended.1 point

Look at the race riots over something as inconsequential as the Rodney King ruling...and while it's true that most of the rioters ruined their own neighborhoods, they still hurt a lot of innocent people. For something as important as losing the Presidency, I'd expect worse and more widespread rioting. Its such a shame that our first black President had to be Obama. There were a lot of others that would have made a fine President. Thomas Sowell for one, though he didnt run, Alan West, Herman Cain, Alan Keyes, any of these would have been good. I think many people will take the opportunity in a riot to just pillage burn and steal. Nashville may have it's own problems too. On a more positive note for black Nashvillians,. Have y'all listened to Carl Boyd on 99.7 on Sunday afternoons? Quite refreshing to hear a local black conservative, and when he talks about Obama, I am so happy to hear the truth!1 point

Not too concerned either. If they get to my house they'll be tired from walking up the hills. Plus their unlaced shoes and pants hanging halfway down their asses will slow them down. Nothing is impossible, guys. The issue with Katrina is that civil unrest was cited as why the police disarmed civilians. If there were a major disaster, man-made (to include economic) or natural, and food supply chains were interrupted, there would be civil unrest as a result of this economy having made people live from paycheck to paycheck. A lot of people do not have more than a weeks worth of food on their shelves. We all forget how ugly society can be when we are competing for supplies. This scenario could provide a distraction & excuse for them to confiscate/ban weapons as a matter of safety. While many police officers and national guardsmen say they are "OathKeepers", when faced with the sight of their brethren being arrested for not following orders, they may fall into line as well. Of course, this is just my humble opinion, but it is feasible.1 point

The simple fact of the matter is that a government cannot gain and sustain enough support for such a move without convincing people it is necessary to fulfill the end of some grand purpose, or transcendent mission (national survival for instance). I find it very unlikely that will be easy to pull off, at least in the short run, so it would be obvious when that process was taking place. Even the rise of the Nazi party in Germany took many years and was in response to dire economic and social circumstances. I'm not saying it couldn't happen here, history shows us it could, but it's not something I'm all too concerned with. The only way it could happen in a rapid manner would be in response to economic collapse and a subsequent social uprising. The sheeple would demand the government go to extreme measures to restore and maintain order, and I could see weapons confiscation to be a central part of that action. It happened to an extent in New Orleans following Katrina. Many gun owners are not hard-core 2nd Amendment supporters to the degree that they would challenge the government, and they would turn their firearms over to the government, likely with the expectation they will be returned at some point. Again, I think this is unlikely, but possible. As a guy who studies genocide and political violence, I have very little faith in the rule of law to protect individual rights in the face of social chaos.1 point

Iv'e read this thread with great interest. Some things to think about: Do any of you believe that Nobama is a greater friend to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights than any candidate that is running against him? Do you believe that Nobama will appoint Constitutionalist justices to any court; especially the Supreme Court? For you mizers; have ya taken a look at how much more or less your dollar will buy today vs a few years ago (....that's if ya have any dollars....). For ya lookin for work in most any industry that pays pretty well (....mining, heavy manufacturing, transportation, etc....); how is the business doin that ya work for? ... better, worse?.... . For ya that are lookin for a job; hows the job market?? Lots to choose from???.... The fact is that ya have two choices on the ballot in november; Nobama and Romney. Ya need to make up your mind who ya are gonna vote for. I already have. All this baloney and grousing about the canditate positions is simply "....pickin the fly s***t out of the pepper...". If ya like keeping the freedoms ya have; you know what to do. If ya like authoritarianism and bein poor(er); ya know what to do. Choose wisely. leroy1 point
