  1. We have this young lady that works for us whose husband is deployed in Afghanistan. A couple of months before Christmas she let us know that she was putting together a couple of boxes of supplies for her husbands unit for Christmas. She gave everybody a list of common items they needed and asked us to donate if we were able. It was everyday stuff we take for granted like: batteries, magazines, energy bars, jerky, playing cards, juice boxes, gum, games etc... Most of the employees donated. My father, brother and I went to Costco and got a bunch of stuff. She was really surprised at the amount of items everybody in company collected. It took a few more boxes than she expected but she got everything shipped over to husbands unit. Her husband let us know how appreciative the unit was after they received the boxes. Well today at our company lunch she presented us with this flag and certificate her husbands unit sent us. I am going to get it framed and hang it in the office.

  4. Of course, in true InfoWars fashion, they use creative liberties to make a story.  Unless I missed it, nowhere does it say that DHS is purchasing those targets, just that the same supplier that sells to DHS also sells those targets.  It feeds into this BS narrative that the Obama controlled DHS is preparing to wage war on the American people.  It also proves that when that's the only explanation you are looking for, you are guaranteed to find it.

  6. Sounds like a pretty useless law, to me.  I still say the best way to handle it would be to declare the interior of a person's car to be protected just like the interior of their home and declare any 'right to search' clauses in employee contracts to be null and void in the state of Tennessee.  Heck, make it illegal for an employer to even ask to search an employee's vehicle.  If the employer suspects the employee has taken company property then let them call the cops, let the cops get a warrant and search the vehicle.  Otherwise, it is no one's business but my own what I legally keep in the interior of my vehicle which is my private property.

  7. The way that article ends like that really pisses me off. That cop needs to STFU, because as I see it he is attempting to somehow put the onus on permit holders for gang related crime. If gangs are a problem that are out of control, maybe they need to fire certain sh** bird cops who don't own the responsibility to curb gang related crime as opposed to blaming the LAW ABIDING folks. Are there any cops on here that work with this idiot?

  9. Wow so sad to throw away a career and personal honor for what would have amounted to what, $3-5,000 a pop. Although I guess the honor was already lacking. Still, seems really stupid to me.

  11. It'll last until the SSA,  NOAA and other agencies who have no business purchasing ammo stop buying it just to keep it out of our hands which is exactly what is happening. There's absolutely no reason for the Feds to be buying 2 billion rounds or whatever the total is now. In light of that, I think you're behaving wisely.

  13. supply and demand.   If you put 1000 gun owners in a room...   975 of them would own at least 1 .22 LR 850 of them would own at least 1 9mm more than half would own either 223 or 7.62xAK   so those calibers are in high demand and the price has increased on them.

  14. In the end a thief is a thief.   What the item is, the condition of it or the value of it still doesn't change the fact it was stolen. The actual value might make a difference as far as the charges but it still doesn't change the fact the items were stolen and those that stole it should be held accountable for their actions. Even if the item stolen was worthless it is still a thief that is doing the stealing.   Even if the items were slated for destruction they were still stolen before the destruction was complete.   Dolomite

  15. Same here. I think it will take someone who takes a solid stance on everything. That's what I want to see. I'm tired of these people who talk out of both sides of their mouth. People who stand for everything stand for nothing.

Free wireless however with any website related to guns or weapons such as this forum "blocked by system administrator" Interesting they do not block violent gaming websites or websites related to alcohol etc. Their system, their dime, so they can set it up any way they want...but I told them they lost a customer and would spread the word.

  19. Cut it all??? So I guess our parents and grandparents who have paid into SS all their lives on the promise of receiving a retirement income should just go ahead and starve to death and decrease the surplus elderly population. We can just forget about the fact that if these people had simply be allowed to save the same amount of money stolen they could easily be millionaires...no, we'll just steel their money while they are working and then say...you don't get anything back; sucks to be you!   And for our soldiers and sailors who are lucky enough to actually server a career without getting killed should just go "f" them selves too.   And let's not forget the truly poverty-stricken who actually can't work or care for themselves...I guess they can just go die in the street...we can send along the meat wagons to haul their bodies off like they did during the black plague.   There are PLENTY of things that need to be cut including entire departments of the government that shouldn't exist at all but just "cutting everything" is about as helpful as saying "let them eat cake".

  24. It's ridiculous how busy this man is. He never gets a break. As such, he may miss this post. I can tell you that he USUALLY does not ship. Not that he can't but it's hard for him to tie himself up shipping small orders when there are large volume consumers out for his time too. I should say too, David is a super guy. He busts his butt to get us what we need. I know there are some people who don't, can't or won't cut the guy any slack and they bust his balls on a regular basis. To those people I say screw you!

  25. Brian's articles are pretty fair for the most part. I've read several. But why is it that he, and seemingly every other journalist on the planet can't write an article without leaving out the fact that an armed civilian stopped a shooting? He mentions the mall shooting in Oregon that claimed two lives. But doesn't mention that the reason it claimed ONLY two lives is because an armed civilian was there. It would be half a sentence added to the article.    Yes I realize this article isn't about civilians stopping shootings but 99.99999999999999999% of the time where a normal every day citizen carrying stops a potential mass shooting there is a deafening silence in the media. You want to be fair? Tell ALL of both sides of the story.

  27. All the sories i can tell of MP's that have done extreamly stupid stuff,  It happens people.  It happens in every MOS some alot more than the MP Corp.  The difference is the amount of news it generates.  Any other MOS and it is likely that what their job is wouldnt of even been brought up.    Thats not saying that they dont deserve to be held accountable for their stupidity.   USCavscout,  its very rare that you find an MP that thinks they are above the law.  Typicall MP units are stricter and hold their own accountable more often than other MOS's

  28.   I went by there maybe 15 months ago. There are no tours that I'm aware of and no reason to go unless you are hoping to have something inspected/repaired.   If you have an older Glock they will replace many of the parts and replace any magazine you bring in with new ones.

  29. I have a big problem with this. A gun in no way constitutes a threat on its own. If i'm standing in my house, as depicted by these targets, with a gun in my hand because I just shot an intruder and a cop comes in and starts throwing lead at me, I'm gonna be pretty pissed. These targets program trainees to engage when they see a gun. That is very foolish IMHO.

  31.         Hmmm... I guess it depends on where you buy your rounds. My uncle shot a guy three times in a justified shoot; it cost him about $.25 per round.

  32. Yep, I practically had to argue with the rep doing my VA paperwork on why I'm not claiming PTSD. Made me wonder about all the people they hit up on the way out who see that as free money and the closest they got to combat was having an indirect round impact near their FOB.

  34. One thing I like to do is always take a few appleseed targets with me and hand them out at the range and then encourage them to take a class.  I'm thinking of printing out just some other regular targets (i'm almost out of the appleseed redcoat targets) and on the bottom, have a link to some of my favorite websites which includes the safety rules/etc.    This thread got me into thinking about this - I'm going to be more social at the range.  Seek out folks and say hello, what are you shooting.  Make friends especially if they look new.   I know I still appreciate it when folks walk to me and admire my rifle or talk gun with me.    I think we can do this in stores also.  I feel bad now... i was at the gunstore and some kid was telling a young lady and her old mother r which gun to buy.  I knew it was bad advice (an engraved/fancy 2 shot derringer for self defense?! I don't know how many times they said the word 'cute' during the transaction)  but I kept my mouth shut.  I wish I jumped in nicely and gave them some better advice and offer to take them to the range.

  35. I don't personally have an issue with these.  I think many are drawing conclusions and correlations that aren't there.  This is not about "training" to shoot children, or pregnant women, or grandma.  This is about being able to train and better identify on "instinct" a possible threat.  Just because you identify a possible threat doesn't mean that you automatically shoot.  I think most well trained LEO's will attempt to determine if a threat is real or not before firing their weapon.  Not all, but most.  At the end of the day, it comes down to a Human making a decision.  Sometimes they will be right and sometimes they will be wrong.  Welcome to the real world.  If these types of targets help them identify threats better, so be it.     I personally get a little tired of some in the gun crowd complaining when they think something is offensive and then complain when others complain something is offensive, but the gun owners don't think it is.  You can't have your cake and eat it too.  Yes, if they were pictures of black people, someone would complain, even though that wouldn't be right either.  Let's not stoop to their level, everything is not a conspiracy.

  36. I'll bet on it.  VA counselors and reps push the PTSD crap when you're separating and when you do your VA screening when you're out.  Combined with dirtbag soldiers who lie and play it up so they can get the added benefits, it is very prevalent.    The VA may delay other medical claims or treatments for it's retirees but I can tell you first hand this has been pushed for years now.  There have been rumors about this sort of thing happening.....we're just now seeing the black and white proof.

  38. IMHO the whole "no-hesitation" training policy is an extremely flawed concept, not every civilian with a gun in their hand is a threat that needs to be "shot on sight, without hesitation". George Washington & Thomas Jefferson would be appalled, as should every other free-thinking American, if a pregnant woman has a gun in her hand she probably has a damn good reason for it & she's probably scared out of her mind, how about identifying yourself as a police officer & simply asking her what's going on instead of gunning her down "without hesitation" as if she was some sort of Jihadi on a battlefield.

  44. And herein lies the conundrum. We complain about all of the unsafe morons we encounter and say how they shouldn't own a firearm, but we fight against any efforts to require gun owners possess some level of knowledge and skill before owning a firearm. Until we can effectively address this issue as gun owners, we will not see an end to the push to regulate access to firearms though bans and mag capacity limits. I'm almost to a point where one must demonstrate the ability to properly handle, maintain, store, and use a firearm. When the Second Amendment was written, the majority of the population had some reasonable level of experience handling firearms. Also, a single shot musket or a revolver was a bit less of a safety issue than a Glock since it took a bit more effort to load and fire. I know this approach is unlikely to be popular with many here on TGO, but we require people to demonstrate safe driving skill and knowledge of traffic laws before being allowed to legally operate a vehicle. Many, including me, are suggesting that people should be required to demonstrate some basic understanding of American government before being allowed to vote. People now have to take a hunter safety class before getting their hunting license. In discussing this with my wife the other night, she reminded me of the negligent discharge I had with my first firearm that I obtained when I was 18. Although it seems common sense to me now, I didn't check the chamber when I picked it up and fired a shot off through my TV, my bedroom wall, the sofa in the next room, and the bookshelf on the other side of the room. Fortunately nobody was injured. I had never really handled a gun before, had not been taught gun safety, and yet was able to buy a rifle and take it home. I don't pretend to suggest that such an approach would eliminate all negligent uses of a firearm, but it certainly couldn't hurt.

  46.   I think that over analysis has been running wild throughout this entire situation, it's not a plan to have us turn on any of the companies. They, as always, do not think any decisions out more than a step or two. My guess is that most of those politicians passing the laws didn't even know who Magpul was, much less that the factory was in their own state.   We as consumers have a choice to drive the market in ways that we want, that is capitalism. I don't think anyone wants to boycott Magpul, but if they stay in a state that supports state imposed restrictions, then why should anyone out of the state buy from them? All they're doing is pumping $100mil into an economy that despises them and us.
