  1. Ooh, it's the free market. An item is worth what someone will pay for it. Supply and demand in action. Did I cover them all? Screw CTD.

  2. It's not "a load of dung." All the UN has to do is post signs that declare the area a War Free Zone and everything will be fine.

  3. We've had more than enough in my opinion. As I've said many times I'm over this crap. And I don't care if it's "whining", I'm calling BS when I see it. We're too much a persecuted community already to be screwing each other. I'm as sick of seeing the jacked up prices as I am of being given economics reminders of the "free market".

  4.   Sounds like you left some meat on the bone.  I've got about 600 rounds of .22LR and I don't even have a .22 anymore.  I've been hanging on to it just for spite.  :0)

  5. Freedom goes both ways. Everyone has the freedom to price their items as they see fit. Everyone has the freedom to whine about the prices. And you have the freedom to whine about the whiners.

  8. If you think someone is gouging then just shut your dam mouth. Post something negative in someone's ad and you will be punished. If you have nothing positive to say the shut your mouth. What is going to happen is the classifieds are going to go back to no one allowing to ask questions or leave comments. And that will impact everyone who wants to sell. As much as I do not like it either we cannot force anyone to sell something for less than they want to. Just like the seller can't force a buyer to spend more. I suspect there are going to be a lot of people gone by Monday.

  9.   A valid point. What's more, I think that the best way to answer a sale post offering overpriced merchandise is to answer it with deafening silence. If I think something is priced stupid, ignoring it is the best way to get the point across. When an ad is posted for 3 days with tons of views but NO responses, the seller gets the idea pretty quickly. Ads that insult my intelligence aren't even worthy of a response in the first place.

  10. I understand your point, and it does have merit, but when people snatch up every box from Walmart every time a truck comes in (while other people have to work) at normal prices and then jacks the price 3 or 4 times just ain't right in my book of "do unto others". And it never will.

  11. I've only been willing to sell it to those who are in need, so I'd feel a bit guilty gouging them.

  12. Gangbangers will gladly pay that much. Gotta have something for the "glock-glock".   Cheaper Than D!ck, --whatever. Oh, wait, and now Glen Beck endorses them too... wonder how much that cost them? Maybe they're paying him in .22LR bricks?? No thanks. Have a nice life, CTD. You won't ever have to worry about filling an order for me ever again. Ever.   Wow. CTD pi$$es me off so much that even my non-sequitur rant has non-sequiturs.

  13. We just received two new truckloads of Gun Safes at The Safe House.  If you are looking for a safe drop by and we would be happy to show you our over 300 safe selection.  We carry over 8 different brands , not just one brand.  We will meet or beat any advertised price on an in stock safe of any local dealer.   We are licensed locksmiths and are the only safe company in Middle Tennessee that have a certified and bonded delivery crew, don't settle for less.

  16. The problem is the costs far exceed his salary. There is no way he is paying for the local and federal law enforcement to secure a vacation spot plus the cost of the secret service out of his own personal bank account. I know how much it costs to fuel a jet plus the related operating expenses. I know he has become a wealthy man since taking office, but I guarantee these related expenditures are not paid for from his personal funds.

  17. Personally, the problem i have with it is how the "impartial" mass media slaughtered Bush every time he vacationed, yet not a peep otta them when Obama or his family, or all of them go rambling around the world. They'll even go a day or two apart, doubling the cost of travel. Yet praise will come gushing out of the media fountain owned by Obama.

  18. I’m sure our AEGIS class ships are in the area and prepared to knock down whatever NK launches.   The threat of nuclear war is ridiculous. They may well try to launch a nuke, but we don’t need nukes to neutralize NK; and won’t use them.   The problem (and loss of American lives) will come if there is hand wringing on the part of Obama in the event of an act of war.   Have our bombers deliver a few MOAB’s to NK’s top leaders; and it’s over.  You would think after Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan our leaders would learn.  Use the technology we have developed and end these threats with extreme prejudice.

  19.   Serious charges, good that he got off light, but this part is funny: "Childs stated that he had detonated 100 lbs of Tannerite in a 10 yard dump box ... When asked if Sgt. Blue could see the dump box, Childs states that it was gone.   Sgt. Blue asked Childs if he had already moved it out of the field and Childs replied that is it was just gone, that the force of the explosion had scattered pieces over a large area."   I mean, it's just GONE, man! :)   - OS

  20. This is it..take it or no..I took banjo lessons one time.  the instructor said, time in practice equals quality sound out.  There is no substitute for practice. I brushed it off. Then I learned my lesson.  Let me give you an example.  I was taking banjo lessons.  I could play the guitar, but wanted the banjo bad.  I practiced about 1 to 2 hours 4 or 5 times a week after work (I was in my early 30's).  The teacher had a get together on friday nights for students. I went one night but only played the guitar because I was comfortable with it in bluegrass and knew a lot of songs, not so with the banjo.  I had been taking banjo lessons for 6 months.  This 17 year old kid sat in the back and picked around on his banjo.  He wouldn't play loud and I had trouble hearing him.  During a break, when everyone else was outside, the instructor told me to come play a few with this kid.....This kid tore it up!!!! My jaw hit the floor. We played about 8 or 9 songs......He had been playing 4 months to my 6 months banjo wise.  But, he practiced a minimum of 4 hours a day, 7 days a week. He practiced more each week than I did on 3 weeks. Lesson is....there is NO substitute for practice. According to Earl Scruggs, it takes 1000 SUCCESSFUL practice licks to get a banjo lick down pat muscle memory wise.  Same for a guitar. We often hear the pro's play licks that are awesome.  Pink Floyd "Comfortably Numb"  or Lynyrd Skynyd "Free Bird"....they have played those songs thousands of times. They don't even have to think anymore while playing them.....

  23. How about following the rules of the forum instead of posting in every high priced ammo ad with a snide remark? As per the rules: Updated Tuesday, January 22, 2013 7. You understand that you may not make a public reply to a Trading Post thread designed to interfere with the sale or trade of an item. Examples are replies stating that an item can be found cheaper elsewhere, or that the price is too high, or that you have a similar item for sale for less, etc. If you wish to haggle, do it privately with the seller. No one cares what you think about the price or availability of an item. Now you may not agree with their prices, but they paid the $20 benefactors charge just as you did to sell here. So as long as they are following the rules, then shouldn't you give them the same courteousy? How would you feel if someone jacked up every for sale thread you posted? Edit: Dolo posted while I was typing. He said exactly what I was thinking. Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere

  24. I've done ok. By adding here and there when I found normal prices, I now have at least 1500 rounds of everything I shoot, and 3 cases of skeet 20 gauge. I'm done until the shelves are full and the super sales are on because of overstocking.....then I'll REALLY load up! I have a very hungry ammo safe. LOL!

  27. Same biz model as in 2008-9. Must've worked okay, so will probably work okay this time too.   Old joke:   Guy asks street vendor, "how much are your hotdogs?" Vendor: "$250,000 dollars" Guy: "Jeez, just how many do you expect to sell at that price?" Vendor: "Dunno, but don't need to sell very many".   - OS

  29. I like the comment on the bottom that says "ignorance of the law is not a defense."  I love it when people say that so I can remind them that giving or receiving oral sex is still illegal in this state, and that if you allow your wife to drive in Memphis you must walk in front of the car waving a red flag.  They are laws still on the books.   Granted this does not really apply to something so obvious, but the government has no business carrying on with an expectation that people know the law until the laws are cleaned up.

  31. You could blow it out if you really wanted to but it won't hurt anything to leave it.   I tumble with (primarily) corn-cob media with a handful of crushed walnut tossed in for good measure. If you put a cut up dryer sheet or even paper towel in it will keep the media cleaner and cut down on the dust.

  32. Set out your instrument where it's looking at you all the time and when you walk by and have a free minute pick it up. Keep it in your hands when ur watching the tube or what ever. Scales and transcribe. Learn chords and voicings. It's a life long endeavor. Don't feel like you have to learn it all in one month, or year. Practice one thing slow until you can master it. Just like gun training. That in turn will improve everything else you learn. Take some lessons.

  33. Our enemies see an advantage with this current weak on defense administration, with our nation's economic problems & with how depleted our forces are after fighting a large, long, drawn out insurgency in Iraq & Afganistan for the last decade +. Now is a good time for them to act, especially if NK & Iran acted together.

  35. It may seem that a $1.00 increase from the factory is in significant, but like David has explained; opportunity costs in business increase exponentially. Fiocchi for example raised 9mm by $3 a box. Then the distributor adds a lick, plus the banker, the shipper, and the distributor....boom 9mm just went from $14.99 to $30 a box...

  36. I think the point is O made a big deal out of cutting secret service spending by ending the tours of the White House only to send those guys out babysitting. He saves a dollar here so he can spend two over there. It's not really about the vacation as much as it's about our government misusing our tax dollars. Yeah Bush and all the others did it too, but O is doing it NOW and we are deeper in the hole than we were.

  41. I've always believed that as an armed citizen, we have a duty to avoid conflict whenever possible.  I sure know how difficult it can be sometimes as I've had people do all kinds of things to me on the road...not just poor driving but acts that was intended to cause an accident or start a fight.   As much as I might like to do the Chuck Norris thing and beat up the ones who have done that to me that not only isn't the moral/right thing to do but as an armed citizen it's an absolutely moronic thing to do.   This guy is lucky he didn't kill someone; the guys in the pickup even luckier.
