Considering that I don't keep illegal items in my home I'd let them in rather than act stupid.6 points

I may hold an unpopular position here, but here it is. He is a US citizen and needs to be treated as such. That includes being afforded all the rights and protections thy citizenship brings with it. Remember all of the "what if" discussions over the nasty provisions for declaring citizens apprehended on US soil as an enemy combatant thus denying them their constitutionally guaranteed rights? Remember the worry about DHS letters calling folks like us possible terrorists? Anything they do to this guy, they can do to you or I. I want my pound of flesh as much anyone else, but I want it done the right way. We must ensure that in our search for justice today that we do not lay the foundation for injustice tomorrow.5 points

He is 19. His brother, who likely is the one who brainwashed him into it is dead. He will crack like an egg. This ain't about his criminal trial at all. There is plenty of physical and eyewitness evidence to convict him. What we need now is the network that recruited, trained and funded him. He isn't a hardened believer like KSM. He is 19. A halfway experienced interrogator will squeeze him dry of everything pertinent. Chances are his interrogator will be a team of the most experienced folks our country has.4 points

If they didn't have a signed warrant in their hand, with my name & address on it, specifying exactly what they were searching for as required by the Constitution of the United States of America, I'd probably tell them to "go suck off a goat". But I like being roughed up & handcuffed so don't take that as legal advice.4 points

It's not about "being nice"; it's about obeying the law and safe driving. The passing lane is for passing; I'm not sure why that concept is so difficult for some to grasp. And, in just about every stat if you are in the passing lane and you aren't actually passing another vehicle then you are breaking the law. Vehicles that just cruise along in the passing lane also set up a decidedly unsafe situation. Changing lanes, regardless of what lane you are changing from or to, is one of the major contributing factors to traffic accidents. Left-lane hogs, either on purpose or out of ignorance, force people to move to the right lane or even more than one lane to the right to pass. This not only is a dangerous maneuver (and should be unnecessary) but drivers, by and large, don't expect to have "faster"/overtaking traffic to their right so when they FINALLY decide to get over they often won't look to see if another car is there. I say again, on a multi-lane highway, anybody who sits in the passing lane when they aren't actually passing a slower vehicle is an ass...if they are doing it knowingly/on purpose then they are a dangerous, self-absorbed ass.4 points

attempts at gun control will never end, well at least up to the point where 2A is removed from the BoR. This bill being shot down is at best a temporary victory.4 points

I bought a new carry gun - the Gen 4 Glock 26 - test fired in March so this baby is "fresh out tha factory". I wasn't sold on the FDE color, so I came home and slept on it. Turns out this color is harder to come by than the black, so I told myself if it was still there this morning I would pick it up (Personal Defense Options). The good news is that with the gun purchase, I was able to buy 2 boxes of FMJ and 1 box of Hollow Point .9mm :woohoo: Here it is. I have given up on a Shield, so I am very happy with the 26:3 points

Would you want someone to follow you around with a camera and record you all day whether you're doing anything wrong or not? If I'm not doing anything wrong you have no reason to record me. It's all baby steps. This is being watched closely as a trial run to see just how much liberty the citizen-sheep with trade for the veil of security.3 points

In a situation like this, I may just give them permission. I normally would resist any search, but I have the right to allow it also. If it lets them tighten the perimeter and check me off the list, I'll play.3 points

How about a personal update? I am home again after having my sixth and hopefully final surgery on the 12th (a week ago today). Had a couple of very good days at home, followed by a couple of pretty rough ones as I de-tox from all the heavy duty pain killers, etc., I've been on for the past month and a week. Today is better than yesterday and tomorrow will be a little better yet. The biggest problem I'm having now (aside from the de-tox fiend) is just having to sit so damn still after a lifetime of physical activity. I can motorvate via both crutches and/or wheel chair, but it will be another five weeks before I can even think of putting weight on my left foot. And even the fact that I can now get around some is problematic given where we live (on the side of a heavily timbered ridge with the nearest sidewalk further away than I care to think about). So far, given that my wife's van is temporarily on the fritz, we have relied heavily upon my wife's honorary niece and her husband to get me to and from UT Hospital for surgery and various DR.s appointments. DaveS mentioned elsewhere that I a stubborn and proud S.O.B. and I am here to verify it. That fact does not prevent me from being humble and I want to say again that mere words cannot begin to express the gratitude that both my lovely wife and myself feel for the outpouring of comradery, support, and just plain good thoughts and prayers from what I consider to be one of the finest forums on the net. Perhaps, in a few more days, when I can sit at the computer longer, I'll tell everyone exactly (to the best of my ability, anyway) what happened. In the mean time, let me say again... THANK YOU FRIENDS! Don & Jackie McCrary (A.K.A. TimeStepper & his MUCH better half.)3 points

The 2A fight is simply a subset, a different front, in the larger fight against those who would hurt us. The roots are the same; both would have us cower in fear, the ideology of the afflictors is much the same, and both evil and despicable. "Don't let your hearts be troubled. I can't even read this thread anymore. It is like deja vu all over again. So I will just post my 2 cents and move on, LOL. I figure if someone is riding my ass and driving aggressive they must have a good reason to do it. Maybe their house is on fire, or their mother just had a stroke or something. I give the benefit of the doubt and get the heck out of the way. Just let them go on. Slowing down to the point people get pissed off has no real purpose. Just seems like a dick measuring contest or something. Carry on.2 points

Watching NBC now....I'm gonna be a mad sum beech if they interrupt Grimm over this stupid crap. Dude is in a boat! Hook a truck to it and drag his ass to jail! The media is ten times more disgusting than any murderer, bomber, killer etc. they THRIVE on this stuff. I swear they get aroused at the thought of reporting these things.2 points

BTW, if they have him surrounded those cops need to ease off the itchy trigger fingers and catch him alive. At least long enough to figure out what he's all about.2 points

I worked a traffic car for a few years and couldn’t wait to get out of it and into district patrol. I have seen plenty of bodies pulled out of wrecks and done plenty of interviews in the ER. Traffic enforcement is where a bunch of a department’s budget is spent and I challenge anyone to show me that where they live “real†criminals hurt and kill more people than bad drivers. If you are screaming in pain in the ER or attending a family member’s funeral I doubt it will make a lot of difference to you that the cause was a bad driver and not a “real†criminal That said… I would ticket a driver slowing up the left lane of traffic over a speeder any day. However, in our state we a law against “Impeding Trafficâ€; I don’t think Tennessee has a law like that, but I don’t know. I know people that make a turn on a roadway and get right into the left lane whether passing or not. I usually have to pose the question “Did you get your driver’s license out of cracker jack box?†Having the right of way or not being at fault only counts if you live through it. Many people don’t think about the driver that is so intoxicated he hardly knows what is going on and can’t react to much of anything you do. People involved in accidents go crazy about who is at fault and some have even escalated it to a criminal arrest because either they got a ticket or the other person didn’t get a ticket. Cops don’t determine fault in an accident. Insurance companies act on their own, and courts will make decisions in civil cases. Tickets are just for violations of the vehicle code; not fault in an accident.2 points

To be completely honest I am severely disappointed. I am disappointed that the NRA would allow someone who sells, as tartanphantom so eloquently put it, "diabetic horse pi$$" masquerading as beer into such a fine organization. I'd slam my ding dong in a car door before I would be caught drinking that sorry excuse for beer. No offense to you Bud lovers out there. :rofl:2 points

Well even you have to admit that'd been the smart bet, considering foreign-born Islamist jihadi's are the ones usually responsible for the vast majority of these sorts of terrorist attacks. It is no secret that there were a lot of leftists in this country who really, really wanted both the Boston bombing & the Ricin attacks to be done by "conservative caucasions, preferably with ties to the Tea or Republican Parties" because it'd have been helpful to them in furthering their leftist ideological/political agenda. This sort of hateful ideological vitriol aimed at mere political opponents (ie wishing/hoping/speculating that the opposing political side of the aisle would commit atrocities, so they can point fingers in order to sway public opinion/votes) is about as unAmerican as unAmerican gets.2 points

I've changed my scenario in every one of my post? I don't understand your point. I was offering up different scenarios for context. Not sure what you want here or what that is supposed to prove. In regard to getting pissed, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a truthful person that doesn't get pissed when someone is riding their bumper for no reason. I don't know what that is supposed to prove either. If I get pissed that isn't the definition of road rage. Driving illegally and aggressively is. In my world slowing down is not aggressive behavior. Tailgating is. So I don't understand your point here in your suggestion that I am road raging when I am acting in a calm manner. Being pissed doesn't prove anything. I get pissed when I flip through all my presets and there is nothing but commercials, yet I don't bash in my radio. Once again, the rage is in the actions of the person. Slowing down is not illegal or aggressive. It sounds to me like you just want to argue or you are the type who likes to ride bumpers. Either way, you will not convince me that lawful and safe behavior makes me responsible for the actions of other people or makes me culpable for escalating the situation. I'd like to find a law enforcement officer agree that slowing down is an aggressive provokation.2 points

Hard to beat tried and true leather. Easier on firearm finish than kydex and molds to your body for comfort. I am perhaps a biased source but I have leaned this way from experience. I will only carry what is best for me and my firearm. Humidity and perspiration during IWB carry is exacerbated during summer temps. Consider OWB as an alternative. Yes it does require an un-tucked shirt but so does IWB to an extent. Also if you end up buying something that does not work, don't feel bad, we've all been there. I have a box full of holsters that sit unused. Everyone is different and comfort and function is very individual. Use what works for you.2 points

Honestly if anyone is going to notice something out of place it would be someone from the facility. I know when I was being trained on how to deal with bomb threats we were told to grab a person from the building and take them with us to look for anything out of place. If LE walked into a building they have never been to before and were looking for something suspitious they would have no clue what is out of place.2 points

That's just it though, the guy was minding his own business, he had a right to be where he was, he had a right to be armed & since he wasn't suspected of committing a violation of any ordinance or statute he also had the right to be left alone. An officer's authority over others begins when an officer has a reasonable suspicion to believe a violation of an ordinance or statute has occured. If there is no reasonable suspicion, there is no authority. This particular instance appears to be one of an officer over-stepping his authority to detain & arrest someone just because the officer didn't like a citizen exerting their individual sovereignty.1 point
