Here's a very well-written article by an Iowa State student writer, Barry Snell, for the Iowa State newspaper. He provides an excellent explanation of why "pro-gun" people don't (and shouldn't) trust anti-gunners. http://www.iowastatedaily.com/opinion/article_1c144792-b36d-11e2-8ac6-001a4bcf887a.html3 points

I imagine everyone has in mind a "line" that when crossed will demand a response that cannot be made at the polls. I doubt that anyone involved in this thread believes we are further from that line than we were in 2008 (or that we were further in 2008 than in 1988). What I hear you saying is that you're willing to kill fellow patriots and Tennesseans whose "line" is in front of yours. This to me is the nuttiest post in this entire thread. Seeing this just days after visiting and signing up makes me wonder if I even want to be here. I think if you truly love our constitution you should be looking for common ground with others of like mind, not promising to put them in the ground.3 points

I see no reason why he should be buried here. Tell his parents to pay the expense to ship his deadass back to bumfuhk or we'll burn him and send him back in ash form, free of charge.2 points

I realize the difference and understand that our elected leaders have a greater duty to uphold the Constitution rather than placate the people. The problem is that politicians are, and always will be, corrupt. Now that folks are voting themselves into prosperity more than ever before we are in quite a pickle. I really don't know the best way to reconcile that, but taking up arms will not improve the situation one bit. I also will never recognize a government that took its seat of power by force rather than the voice of the people. The problem lies with socialist idealism that has permeated our culture. We can't defeat that with bullets. In fact, armed revolt will likely have the exact opposite effect. We must educate the next generation on the principles of liberty and why they are so important. We should challenge unconstitutional leadership at the polls and in the courtroom. We should challenge unconstitutional laws with civil disobedience. Violence will not solve this problem, I can promise you that.2 points

On principle-- Dick's caved to the gun control crowd within 36 hours of Newtown by pulling all of their AR rifles nationwide. On top of that, they welched on a big AR purchase contract with Troy Defense at the same time. Troy Defense currently has litigation pending against Dick's for breach of contract. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2012/12/daniel-zimmerman/troy-defense-on-dicks-canceling-black-friday-carbine-orders/ http://www.infowars.com/dicks-sporting-goods-pulls-semi-automatics-as-attack-against-second-amendment-intensifies/ Dick's stinks in a cowardly fashion. When the chips were down, they turned their back on gun owners AND manufacturers. Even so, not everyone feels that way, and you are certainly entitled to do business with them if you wish-- they just won't get any of my money. I have a long memory.2 points

I'm going to say if 29% of people are willing to tell a strange over the phone they believe a revolution might be coming, that the number of people who really feel that way is a lot higher. There are a lot of people who won't speak to family members or their best friends about this subject, let alone some stranger on the phone.2 points

He should be arrested for felony gun possession for sure, but there was not enough information in the article to say terrorist. I think he is a guy with a normal last name taking a wrap of terror to take the eyes off the real terrorist in this country.1 point

HK P7. Why? It's an unique pistol that's no longer made. Its all steel and was made with absolutely no slop, which, along with the fixed barrel, makes it laser accurate. It has a great trigger and is incredibly safe, yet quick to get into action. Also, several cool movie bad guys use it. Downsides are that it gets hot quickly, is heavy, and has a relatively low capacity. Its uniqueness can also be a downside.1 point

Here is what I just sent: "I sincerely hope you had an enjoyable time today playing golf with the President. Even more so, I hope he did not succeed in swaying your vote for more gun control to his side of the aisle. Americans are watching their leaders with an eagles eye these days Mr. Corker. We are doing so because our needs go way beyond Conservative leadership. Our needs are for STRONG Conservative leaders that will stand up to this White House administration intent on compromising our rights for their cause. We need strong leaders that will wage war against the criminals and for more CRIME control, Mr. Corker, not wage a war against legal citizens for gun control. I am an avid sport shooter and so is my wife Mr Corker. We are not fools and would truly hate to see a first step taken to limit our firearms no matter how small that step is. We believe in the 2nd Amendment Mr. Corker. Not for sport shooting only, but in its original intent of protecting all the rest of our rights. No one knows the future Mr. Corker. There may be a future day when our kids will face a tyrannical government and need the right and means to fight against it. If these rights are compromised now, they will not have a chance. Further, I'm sure you know you will lose the support of hundreds of thousands of Tennessee voters by voting for any more gun control bills in this push by the liberals as they fight law abiding citizens rather than criminals. This is a sign of an administration that wants control, not freedom. My wife and I are just two of hundreds of thousands of legal gun owners in this state that vote. Do the right thing and protect our 2nd amendment rights from the liberal charge against us." Will it do any good? I don't know, but it's better than doing nothing...right?1 point

an armed revolution is probably necessary to change things. Are we to the point where it is going to happen. No. The changes made at the ballot box have not been changes, Just different people getting wealthy on our back. Am I going to take up arms and participate in a revolution? Not this week. But I am not ready to judge those who may deem this week as the correct time to begin.1 point

Besides a lot of emotion there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding of who said what. There are some people that are implying they will take up arms against Americans; yet when called on it they back pedal and say that isn’t what they said. Others are being blamed for saying they want to start shooting when that isn’t what they said at all. They said they (and I think most American Patriots) will not stand by and watch our government (no matter how bad it is) be taken over by force and will recognize no group that tries to do so. I understand this is just discussion because my feelings are any group, no matter how big, that thinks they can go toe to toe with the U.S. Military and local Law Enforcement is delusional anyway. We all understand you are pizzed off at Obama and his crew; so are we. But we will not allow anyone to destroy our country because they think Obama may destroy it. Obama is in his last term…. Period. He can’t appoint himself anything and he can’t do away with term limits. We live in a two party country. That is a fact. Get on one side or the other Republican or Democrat and get the next person ready to be elected. If you are a Democrat, you need do nothing; you folks are united. If you oppose the Democratic Party and what they stand for you better help find a Republican that you can get behind and knock off all this third party non-sense. If you don’t it will be Clinton, Biden Cuomo, or whatever other anti-gun jerk they can come up with. Then we will more than likely deal with 8 years of that. But threaten people with guns won’t get you anywhere but dead or in prison.1 point

Personally, as long as I and mine are not involved, I feel that the best way to deal with trouble is to avoid it whenever possible. Therefore, depending on the situation, there is a good chance that I would not insert myself into the situation. Think of it this way; if I am 'out and about' then there is a good chance that I will have nothing more than my J-Frame and a reload. To me, such a firearm is for personal protection and not for voluntarily jumping into a shootout that I could otherwise avoid. Heck, even if I am carrying something bigger and/or higher capacity it will still be just a handgun. Cops carry guns (and are paid) to actively engage criminals and protect society. I carry a gun to protect myself and my friends/family not to engage in otherwise avoidable firefights. That said, an 'active shooter in the mall' might be different, depending. One factor is that I rarely would choose to go to the mall on my own so if I am there I am likely with friends or family. My first inclination, then, would be to get whoever I was with to safety. If that means attempting to shoot the active shooter then that is what I would do. If it means taking my group, hitting the nearest exit and leaving all those strangers to fend for themselves then so be it. [sarcasm] Of course, the point is likely moot as to my knowledge all the malls around here are posted so obviously no bad guys can shoot up the place. [/sarcasm]1 point

I think that sometimes people study documents and become experts in the subject matter not to implement the document fairly, such as union agreements for example, but to find ways to circumvent them. This is why BHO studied our Constitution in my mind. He didn't become a Constitutional scholar to ensure it's integrity in government policy, but to find ways to circumvent the boundaries it places on our government to move us closer to his goals and most of us know what those are. My prayer is that Bengazi takes down BHO and Hillary Clinton as well as anyone else involved.1 point

Armed revolution would be the absolute last resort. I mean, it would have to be BAD! Govt would have to be like Mao's China, Stalin's Russia, Hitler's Germany, etc. We're not even near a point in which we'd need to take up arms and fight. Our elections still work without too much corruption, so we still have a voice and we can change things if we get off our asses and physically start pressuring these few socialists and communists in our system. Trust me, just like gangsters, there is always a small group in power controlling things. They're the minority (right now they're our wealthy ruling class elites) and we're the majority. If we all stand up, they'll retreat to the secret back rooms like the rat-bastards they are. I think I read it in Rules For Radicals, but somewhere in the book it stated violence basically will turn the sheeple against you since generally they'll side with the peaceful group. When there is violent armed fighting, people will want a quick end to it. So when your enemy is in power, you will just give them the excuse to turn their better weapons on YOU! You'll be slaughtered by real military weapons and equipment. Just look at how Waco, Ruby Ridge, Dorner, the hunt for the recent Boston Bombers, and Terrorists in Iraq in the cities get killed. A square box with paper walls and vinyl siding with you thinking your pile of guns and ammo will be enough against an army of SWAT or Military and all the technology is a joke. Because make no mistake, if you take up arms and start a fight, you WILL be labeled a terrorist by this current administration and you will be hunted as such! That is why most of left-wing socialist and communists chose the long hard road of taking over our education system, media, political system, etc., and indoctrinating and propagandizing us to the point we're at now. They knew if they tried to do it by force, they would be easily killed. Just remember this quote slightly out of context from Rules for Radicals: The essence of Lenin's speeches... "They have the guns and therefore we are for peace and reformation through he ballot. When we have the guns, then it will be through the bullet." And it was. If you think you'll make it in an armed rebellion against a bunch of political elites that have been trained by radicals, and read tactics like this from their favorite dictators and revolutionaries throughout history, you'll only end up dead or wounded and jailed. There is still time to change things peacefully. But that process has to start now. I suggest starting with our education system. We got to take it back. Once you take it back, you'll be cranking out Americans, not indoctrinated socialists and communists. They will go out in to the system and start taking the jobs of the old retiring socialists and communists in education, media, politics, judges, lawyers, news agencies, etc. They will win this battle for you. You'll never have to fight with a single bullet if you do it like that. Otherwise, if we sit on our asses and don't put in the work like the left did to change the system, we lose and they win. Their victory will be because we were too lazy to put in the time and work it takes to secure the future of America as originally intended by our founders for the next generation.1 point

Well since you all are ready to start shooting each other I can tell how THIS rebellion would go...all the government needs to do is sit back and let you all take each other out. :screwy: It does at lest provide a perfect example of just how completely stupid any talk of a armed rebellion is. I'm glad you are so solid in your convictions; I guess we should expect you to fire the first shots any day now. I'm solid in mine. I will continue to fight an overbearing gov't the way our fore fathers designed; at the polls. If our government decides to suspend elections and pass laws without representation then I'll most certainly fight. Until then the problem is your fellow Americans who are voting for socialist encroachment. We must fight that ideology by education our friends, family and children. I fought for my country. I am a veteran. I have risked my life and taken the lives of those who fought against us. I am not afraid to fight again, but it will be for the right reasons. We have a system in place to remove our government that doesn't involve seeing our sons and fathers killed.1 point
