  1. What did you gain from this, other than being a jackass? Is it really that big a deal to flash a driver's license? I have to when I buy beer. No one in that store made the policy. I wish more of us would try to paint gun owners in a good light, and not as pushy jerks.

  4. They have had the info for a long time. The reason they don't take our guns is that they can't survive it politically. They want to. They just can't. That could change pretty quickly, but for now, they just can't.

  6. I got carded at checkout for a Birchwood Casey Perma Blue kit! I refused based on general principal and my keen sense of self-awareness that I'm an a$$hole who likes to stir up trouble. I know it's not the cashier's idea, so I asked for a manager. She goes to get somebody, no doubt rolling her eyes as she tells him, because he comes over with an apologetic sigh. I waited until he's just about to start his 'shoulder-shrug-with-palms-rotated-upward' gesture to shake my head disgustedly and say 'don't tell me it's company policy'. He does anyway, admitting he agrees it's stupid, but they have to follow the rules. I avoided asking him if he EVER drives too fast on his way to work and skipped asking if Walmart asks for his papers to buy bleach and dish soap. I just cut to the chase and asked if he wanted my money or was I going to have to go somewhere that did. I walked out with my bluing kit and my HCP and DL never left my wallet.

  7. Self discipline.  If the people feeding the frenzy on GB and AL and similar sites by buying at ridicules prices would develop some self discipline in their lives, the resellers thriving on them and laughing their asses off would disappear and there would be no lines at Walmart or anywhere else and a whole lot more ammo on their shelves at normal prices. The buyers of jacked up priced ammo are the ones that could change things for the good of everyone.

  8. I have thought I might receive a visit every time I order trash bags, a hack saw, some duct tape, a shovel, a tarp and a map of the nearest national forest. So far I haven't so I think we are safe.   Seriously though I guarantee there is a database somewhere that has a line by line list of what you purchase. I would be willing to bet Walmart can tell you the last time you bought hotdogs and what else was bought at the same time. Even places like PayPal keep records on what you purchase.

  10. It absolutely is worth the trouble. It doesn't take any more effort to spread the word of a bad business than it does a good business. Just mention it in a conversation and it will get around. I promise it will spread like wildfire. When businesses do this and people look the other way it only emboldens them and reinforces their bad behavior. They will continue to do it until someone calls them on it. Then they have a choice, change or suffer the consequences. And by consequences I mean telling every person you know of the bad business. I know I would voice my opinion if I thought I got screwed out of a quarter. I would be telling everyone I knew if this happened to me. Especially if they gave me a FU like this business owner did to his customer. The person refusing to check is one thing but to actually belittle a customer is something that is on a whole other level. He had a customer that already spent money and then the business belittles the customer when he has a problem. If you don't want to help that is fine but belittling customers means you do not deserve to take another dime from that customer.

  14. There were also several Afghan SOF and at least one Afghan interpreter killed in the crash. The ceremony was a joint ceremony which included our Afghan partners. There is a picture of an Afghan LTC speaking at the ceremony. The fact that there was an Imam there should be expected, just as we had Chaplains from our service there. If the Imam had said anything intentionally disgraceful it would have been noticed by one of the many Afghans in attendance. The only thing I hear is Quranic verse being sung, which is in Arabic, so perhaps no one there would understand it because they speak either Dari or Pashtu, but they would still likely know the intent of the verse and would have nipped that in the bud. One or more of the Afghan SOF guys would have kicked his ass. I don't think there is a story here, I think it is people getting worked up over nothing based on misleading and unreliable information.

  15. While I feel for the families of the fallen, the stuff in there about the airframe used being gross negligence is absolutely absurd. Everyone uses CH47s, even super cool tier one units. They fit a whole lotta people and it is easier to take a couple of Chinooks than half a dozen Blackhawks. They act like they were sent into combat in a clunking paper weight. This makes them lose all credibility with me. You go to war with what you got. If we sat here and analyzed every mission ever where a Servicemember was killed and blamed it on not using the absolute best equipment out there we would be here for years. These families need to STFU regarding that. As for the Imam, I want a recording or transcripts to verify. I'm not getting spun up about something from an unreliable source. These families are an unreliable source based on their overreaction to the mission conducted and the tools used to conduct it.

  19. Actually for beer and cigs, its state law to be carded. If they don't card you and the "customer" behind you is a state beer board inspector or some crap then they get a big fine. Now for the blue stuff, I'd have to agree, I see no reason to show my ID, also if they ask for zip code I always give 37371. Let them figure out how I live at the post office. :D

The government, not the UPS guy gives a flying hoot what you are doing, as long as you aren't hurting anyone, breaking the law, or not paying enough taxes.   If you want to consider tin foil hat stuff, look at Google. Do you think it is a coincidence that random ads pop up that feature recent things you've searched? There's the folks who have the goods on you.

  27. http://nsa.gov1.info/utah-data-center/ Until recently I did not believe the government had the computational resources to really track and analyze everything everyone does. Sure if they had reason to target a group of people, they could have done that. I believe this new data center gives them the ability to track everyone all the time and analyze that data. Big brother is watching, listening, and analyzing. Here's an excerpt: Data Storage Capacity The storage capacity of the Utah Data Center will be measured in "zettabytes". What exactly is a zettabyte? There are a thousand gigabytes in a terabyte; a thousand terabytes in a petabyte; a thousand petabytes in an exabyte; and a thousand exabytes in a zettabyte. Some of our employees like to refer to them as "alottabytes".

  32.   Fine with me, but I lean more toward the fact that the employee's vehicle is personal property, and the fact that the employer allows it onto his lot does not give the employer any more say as to what is legally contained in it than an employee has a say in what is legally contained in a company owned vehicle.   If the employer does not want to offer parking for his employees' private vehicles, fine. Let him compete in the workforce only for workers who are willing to arrive by other means.   - OS

  33. Yep, which is why I hate the argument that the 2A does not provide us the ability to effectively fight our government. I don't feel it will come to that unless a series of very drastic events occurs, but that isn't the point. It keeps the gov from ever going over the line. An insurgency of less than 100,000 folks would bring this country to its knees regardless of martial law, fast movers, attack helicopters, tanks and so on.

  34. Krull, is that an old JCPD gun?   CCR did two USP pistols for me last year.  I had the slides plated in nickel boron and the barrels coated in house black.  They came out looking just like the old two tone USP. I have one more that I am going to have done in all house black.   CCR works miracles.

  39. I'm just saying it's happened numerous times in the past and I dread it every time it does.  I think that customers should be savvy and know when a business provides less than acceptable customer service, so don't get me wrong here.  I'm just saying these threads almost always result in some junior lawyer wannabe sending me an email telling me they're going to sue me or TGO because of what someone else posted on this site about their business.  Libel, slander, etc.   None of which is even remotely applicable because people are allowed to have opinions and are allowed to share them like this, but it never stops the guy who thinks his childhood spent watching The People's Court from thinking that makes him a lawyer and sending stupid emails.   Sorry to vent.  Just a glimpse inside my world I suppose.   :)

  41. Its because the action involved in an air-rifle firing is in slow-motion so to speak when compared to firearms in general & because of their delayed expulsion of the projectile they are much more sensitive to disruption in accuracy by improper shooting technique. When the air-rifle technique is applied when shooting actual firearms, it has a positive net effect on accuracy because it reinforces the basic shooting fundementals & slows the shooters movements, most importantly the amount time of hold over on the target after the trigger is squeezed. It is hard to explain but it really does improve your accuracy over-all, even when shooting firearms that are not as "sensitive" as air-rifles. Maybe someone else can explain it better than I can ...
