Wait a minute. You found kids in the year 2013 that were outside, and throwing rocks? If this seems to be a problem go down to your local pawn shop, plop down $99 on an Xbox and give it to the kids. Garuntee you will never see them again.4 points

I imagine the office asked her to unload it as an alternative to taking possession of the weapon for the duration of the stop which is something the law specifically allows for reasons of "officer safety". My question to the officer would be to ask how having me handle my weapon helps increase his safety? Wouldn't the weapon staying put in its holster be a much safer course of action for everyone involved?4 points

So who should the libertarians decide to play with? The Democrats who wish to control how we live our lives & spend our money? Or maybe we should play with the Republicans who unlike the Democrats only want to control how we live our lives and spend our money? ;)3 points

Anyone to be on record saying "But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what’s in it" should not be allowed by We the People to hold office any longer. I suppose it's We the People that are failing this country, not the politicians.3 points

It's dumb. Never been asked to do it myself. But in a similar circumstance, I would comply, reload when he left and bitch about it on an internet forum. No point making more trouble unless you are willing to stick your neck out to make a point. There's a saying about choosing your battles.3 points

We were at Iuka Mississippi last month for a big reenactment. We took two of our guns (3" ordnance rifles). Here we are firing during the battle. (I'm on the first gun, far side front with the brown slouch hat). We will be in Johnsonville this coming weekend. Stop in and say hello. I will give you the grand tour of the guns! DaveS2 points

Just curious have a good friend that is in his apprenticeship and has been working with his redtail hawk. I went out and seen it the other night. He has him coming to him from 100 ft away. He said he was going to hunt him when the leaves fall of a little more. Very interesting hobby for sure. The hawk is very calm now I was standing within arms length of him and he didn't seem bothered a bit.2 points

McDonnell is the worst kind of crook, a cheap and stupid one, the whole state knows it, and Cuccinelli is his hand picked guy. Among C's other dumb moves, he's looked for ways to negate abortion in the state, GOP can't seem to leave the female reproductive system alone but wonder why it loses so much of the distaff vote. - OS2 points

DaveS, TN honors permits for ALL states, per state law 39-17-1351. And while you must be 21 to be issued a TN permit, there is no such restriction placed on honoring out of state permits. So since she had a valid out of state permit, isn't working full time in TN and isn't a resident of TN, she would be perfectly legal to carry here in TN, open or concealed. 39-17-1351r1: You'll note it doesn't say anything about age restrictions... So everything you just said is completely incorrect.2 points

I don't see myself ever voting for a republican or democrat ever again. if the TP wants my vote they need to separate from the republicans. Voting Libertarian is an option, one about as beneficial as just staying home. And that is a real option.2 points

The interesting thing to me is that the GOP establishment is screwed both ways with the Tea Party. They made some major tactical errors early on, and now the damage is such that I'm not sure it can be undone. The GOP has just assumed up until the shutdown that the Tea Party was going to caucus with them, and you see where that's gotten them. Yet, if they tell them to go take a hike, as many are encouraging, they won't be able to win without them. So in effect, that fairly small group definitely has a loud voice. And, they may wind up walking this whole American experiment off the cliff. They represent a big threat to the establishment on both sides of the aisle. It's too early to tell if they'll last or simply get purchased like the rest of their peers. It'll be interesting to watch.2 points

Do not shoot the dog unless it is a threat to you or your animals. Catch it and turn it over to the animal shelter. The neighbors may be saying it isn't their dog but if you shoot it they can make your life miserable if they can convince the authorities you shot the family dog. And despite what some people think, killing a companion animal is against the law unless it is a threat. Also, you want to really piss someone off then kill their kid's pet. At least if you turn it over to a shelter they can get it back and it might cost them money. Money is the biggest motivator to people like this. As far as the kids throwing rocks I would approach the parents and ask them politely to keep their kids from throwing rocks on your property. Next step would be to have a letter delivered in writing saying the same thing. Then after that I would go through the courts and ask for a court order preventing it. I am not sure LE can, or should, be involved in what is a civil matter. During this whole time I would try to get as much video evidence as you can to support your court case as well as for proof when they decide to damage your property.2 points

While I would try to work it out between myself and the neighbors, contacting the police is always an option. Unless the dog is vicious, I could not condone killing the dog.2 points

Yet another example of my don't give LEO's your permit unless you're required to do so under the law. They won't find out if you have a permit or not until after they run your D/L, and by then they've already written the ticket and likely won't bother asking about it. One day an officer in the name of "officer safety" will have a negligent discharge and end up shooting themselves, the permit holder or an innocent bystander, all because they thought it was a good idea to handle a loaded firearm for no good reason. At the very least we need to amend the law to require officers document every time they disarm a permit holder and the exact officer safety reason for that disarm. My guess is the number of these silly posts would go away with that single change.2 points

DaveS, Did you even read the post I made? Did you see that I took the time to quote the EXACT law that honors all other state permits? 39-17-1351r1? The entire 'TN honors states that honor it' law was repealed and replaced years ago... There is a TN reciprocity agreement law on the books still, it requires the Secretary of State to enter into such agreements with other states when those states require such an agreement. BUT, reciprocity only matters in one case today, if a non-resident works full time in TN for more than 6 months, if they have a out of state license which has a reciprocity agreement with TN, they don't have to get a TN permit. FOPA (Firearm Owners Protection Act) doesn't have anything to do with this situation, which is the only law I can think you'd be referring to about traveling through a state. DaveS this is why people get so frustrated with you... they take the time to look up and quote you the law to prove you are wrong, and you don't even bother to read it and just dismiss the quoted text outright. Face it you're WRONG on this, nothing you said is even remotely correct. TN does honor permits from Maine, and all other permits issues by any other state. You don't have to be 21 to carry a firearm OC or CC in TN on a valid out of state license.1 point

Got back out today testing fire formed cases and working with different neck bushings. Below is a series using 3 different neck bushings with same charge of powder. The .334 bushing will be my choice the .333 showed too much horizontal stringing and there's no way to eliminate this and it really shows further out. The .334 has a nice triangular group and this is what you look for. Below is the neck bushing tests today. Here's my next group its five shots using the .334 bushing and 42.3 grns of IMR 4064 F210m primers and lapua case with the sierra 175 MK I will do a bit more fine tuning with seating depth of the bullet now and I should be done with this rifle. I think that was me that said all police forces should have a set of rules to how they handle people with HCP's. If they run a license and that person has an HCP it is going to come back as the person possibly being armed but if they come back with a clean record which they must have in order to have an HCP then that should put them at ease rather than make it worse. At the present time there are over 400,000 Tennesseans with HCP's so police officers should know that in many cases the possibility of stopping an HCP person is growing every day.............jmho1 point

Or better yet, pop the kids with pellets/BB's (I don't care if they are plastic) and take care of the dog by either getting it to a no kill shelter, or if you have the capability, take care of it.1 point

you need a good scale, but the lee disk system is linear and its really easy to work with. What you do is put the disk in (any disk, any hole). Drop the charge and weight it. Do this many times to get an average weight -- say 10 times. Larger disks are better as the error factor of your scale (say 0.1 grain or whatever your scale is capable of) is less significant in the final answer by doing that. Once you have that, you can do the following... disk size --------------- X desired powder weight = desired disk weight for example, from my load data. I measure as described and determine that accurate 5 gives 6.2 grains in disk 0.40. But I wanted 5 grains for my load data. What disk do I need?? 0.40 / 6.2 X 5.0 = .32 and from my notes disk .34 is very close to 5 grains and is the closest disk to .32. Depending on how maxed out the load you wanted to create was, you can decide if you want to go up or down to get the closest disk match though. If it were nearly a max loat at 5 grains, you would go down not UP, see? If the max load is 5.5 or 6 or something, though, going up is OK. You want to weigh it after doing the math, but if you did it right, you will have the closest disk. And it beats the heck out of trying 5 or 6 holes to get the right one.1 point

Jerk-off neighbors are always a touchy subject. As far as the dog goes, get some pictures and try to find it a good home. As far as the rocks go, I'd suggest politely sharing your concerns with the parents. If that doesn't work.... 1 point

The officer didnt handle it..didnt take the round or the mag...how the hell is that "officer safety"...what would have stopped her from reloading when he walked to his car to run her license and shoot him when he came back? I am usually pretty logical and give people benefit of the doubt, but I fail to see the logic in this situation...1 point
