  3. I rented a hotel room for the "after events" of my senior prom and we each told our parents we were going to a chaperoned after party and sleeping there. Our parents weren't stupid, but ya gotta give them the benefit of plausible deniability. It would be kinda weird to have dad parking us. Don't know if I would be able to- BOOBS! 4. I cannot imagine any girl's father being OK with this and if they are then they have issues themselves. I bet it isn't ok if the boy drove up to the house and told the girl's father "I am taking your daughter to a secluded place for some alone time" but now it is ok because the boy isn't the one driving?   Curious, who is renting the limo? The boy or the girl?   I know if I had a girl and anyone mentioned taking her for some "alone time" I would probably loose it.

  5. Thanks for posting this... I think the state of georgia has hit a home run shot with this one...I saw the knoxville local TV news this mornin; and they were whining about it too...   I think the "take away" from all this is that georgia has a pretty good share of single welfare mothers and the usual chorus of the "anti-violence" black movement (...which i find laughable; they need guns more than anybody to protect themselves from their own children and imagined "night riders"... Reference the florida study on self defense shootings...), along with the other children of the forest that are scared of guns and gun owners who are howling to high heaven... They have lost the battle in the legislature and now they are resorting to making the usual claims of "dodge city" and "blood in the streets" to console each other in their loss on this issue...   The fact is that lots of people everywhere are edgy and they are being proactive in protecting themselves and their loved ones from thugs, perverts, dope heads, and "stone cold killas"... I say that's a good thing....Way to go Georgia citizens, legislature, and governor.... Keep up the good work.... Maybe the Tennessee political class will take a lesson from this....   leroy

  6. I have been without a gun on me no more that 10 days since 2008. If I am leaving my property I ALWAYS have at least one gun on my person and another close by. Walking to the mailbox I sometimes have a gun with me but not always. Sitting in the house I ALWAYS have a gun close by as well. Was never really that worried about having guns close by in the house until someone tried to kill my wife and I in 2009. Now I can probably lay down a minute or two of return fire if need be.

  8.   As the father of 3 little girls, I couldn't agree more. If kids get themselves into situations by themselves its bad enough, but to have an adult looking to facilitate the situation, well that I have a real problem with.    They maybe 18, but they are still high school kids.  Just b/c something is legal, doesn't mean its appropriate.

There are a few stores, plus can drive the back roads and stop in at some of the home shops. There are a couple of lumber mills and some leather workers I have dealt with before. https://www.google.com/maps/search/amish+summertown+tn/@35.3863599,-87.3182121,12z/data=!4m5!2m4!3m3!1samish!2sSummertown,+TN!3s0x886339463dea98fb:0xb32a85d55ad35b8f

  19. What a bullsh$t "news" piece. Listed under "investigations" and run not as a news piece but as an op ed or pr release from the brady group. And complete with the angelic picture of a murdered black child to boot. Treacly and predictable and utterly despicable. http://m.ajc.com/news/news/probe-continues-into-grayson-high-students-slaying/nYBzL/ "Three of the victim’s teenage classmates, who were accused of being in a gang called the Young Wavy Goons, have been in custody since February. However, Gwinnett Police Detective Andrew Whaley testified Tuesday at a preliminary hearing that two other people have since been implicated in the shooting of Paul Sampleton. ..... Police say Sampleton was bound and killed in his kitchen on Dec. 19, just minutes after he arrived home following early release from school for the holidays. The classmates are accused of targeting him because they coveted his expensive basketball shoes and electronics. So far, only Larnell Sillah, 16, is charged with murder. The other two young men — Romaine Stewart, 18, and Achiel Morgan, 15 — are charged with armed robbery. Police say Stewart and Morgan helped plan the heist but did not participate in it. Burglary charges also are pending against Sillah and Romaine for a September 2012 break-in at a house in the 1100 block of Stony Point in Grayson, which is in the neighborhood where the two teens lived, prosecutors said. A Sig Sauer .45-caliber handgun — along with other handguns, shotguns and assault rifles — was among a dozen firearms stolen from the home." Turns out the gangbangers sold the sig to a police CI for $150.....

  20. Picked up a SightMark ultra shot to replace my junk Bushnell and since range time is rare right now I used one of those fake shells with a laser in it to try and get it close last night. I set it up and shot the dot on a piece of paper on a tree across the yard and turned on the sight and me and my son spent the next half a hour trying to figure out why we only seen one dot thru the sight. Because?? It was already on the dot and they were both red and the same size. Doh!

(...as my 24 year old is fond of sayin...); i have at least two firearms in reach; sometimes more...     Remember, ".... it's better to have it and not need it; than to need it and not have it..."; and "...an armed society is a polite society...".      leroy

From the article:   "Along with the original charge of driving on a suspended license, Archer was charged with introduction of contraband into a penal facility, a Class C felony."     Well, that would have to be TWO charges of ". . . contraband into a penal facility . . . 38. Normally if I am going to be leaving my house I will have one on my belt concealed with a loose fitting light wind breaker or loose cover button up shirt. If I am at home and out in the yard in shorts I have a pocket pistol on my person. In my house there is 1 or more guns all around the house including bathroom. None in plain sight but I know where they are and there is an extra loaded magazine with each gun. That includes when i am away from house and packing I have at least 1 loaded back up Magazine. Paranoid Never!!!!!!! Cautious always!!!!! I went out today and I was unarmed for about 2 minutes to mail a package in post office.

  39. All jokes aside about this Chinese stuff. I was feeding my Kasey those Waggin Tails Chicken Jerky and she loved it and I was buying it in bulk at Sam's. I went to Sam's one day to stock up on some things including her jerky. Not giving it any thought I put 8 2lb bags in my cart and when I got home I was getting stuff put up and what the hell did I see but the words MADE IN CHINA. I got out a bag I had purchased the trip prior and it said Made in USA. I called the 800 number to talk with them. I ask the lady on the phone when they began getting their products made in China and she said that they just started and the new products just hit the shelves in stores this week. I ask her why they moved off shore and she gave me the most lame excuse I have ever heard. She said they were having trouble locating enough chicken in America to continue making their product because of demand. She said we have our own quality control people in  the plants over there so you can be assured that the quality of our product won't change. I said maybe not but I won't be buying any more to find out. I made a special trip back to Sam's to take the junk back and get a refund. I go my refund and told the manager at Sam's how disappointed  I was in Sam's decision to continue to carry the product. I went over to the Jacks link Jerky and read the package and saw nothing about China and bought five 1lb bags and went home. Since then I have been doing the research about the Waggin Tails reports and dogs are getting sick and dying on the damn things. It is causing many different illnesses and killing dogs and right now I think  they are tied up in over 100 lawsuits over people suing them from everything from very high Vet bills to loss of a family pet. Maybe Waggin tails should have called Tyson  and ask about buying some chicken and staying on shore in America. That is why I recommend that every one become a label reader and if it does no specifically read Made in USA or Made in America don't buy it because it is probably made in China and the company is hiding it. Also don't get tricked in the labeling either because there are a few out there that say Packaged in America. Ok so it's packaged in America but where is it made??????. I did hear an ad on TV the other night about Milo dog treats and back several years ago it was made in China but the other night on the ad on TV they said it was made in America. I don't know whether to believe them or not but maybe their sales was suffering so bad by being made in China that they came back on Shore and are making it here. I am going to get teh number off one of their products and call them and do a 3rd degree on who ever answers the phone and tell them before hanging up that if my dog gets sick on their products they can expect to be sued and wait for a response. If they tell me they would rather I didn't purchase their products that will tell me what I need to know.................jmho.

  43.   Have you ever lived in a bad neighborhood where you didn't have an attached garage and had a work schedule that meant you got home after dark?  I have.  In fact, before I moved in there my grandmother had her purse stolen in broad daylight in the back yard - the same back yard I had to walk across when I got home from work.  Before I had my HCP, with a crack house on the corner and drive-by shootings across the street (which, by the way, it took at least twenty minutes for LEO to respond to those shootings) it sure would have been nice to have been legally able to have my firearm in my car.  Not to prevent a carjacking 'on the street', necessarily  but to have for protection in case some low life decided I looked like a good target after arriving home one night (my great uncle and great aunt had their car stolen from that same back yard while they were eating Thanksgiving dinner with my grandmother - the cops found it stripped a few blocks away.)  But, hey, if someone lives in a bad neighborhood and can't get an HCP either because they may not have $200 plus to spare or because they aren't yet 21, screw 'em.  They deserve to get stabbed, robbed, beaten or shot, right?   Have you ever gone fishing in a remote location?  I have.  There is a little public ramp/fishing area in Blaine, back off the beaten path.  I was there one evening fishing, minding my own business, when a car with a couple of guys in it pulled in and parked at the other end of the gravel lot with their car facing me.  No one got out and I didn't see any fishing poles, etc. sticking out of the windows or anything so I got a bad feeling.  Tossed my fishing gear in the back of my truck and decided to leave.  As I was crossing the parking lot, the car started and they attempted to block me from the little driveway that was the entrance and exit.  Luckily, I learned to drive on gravel roads so I was able to just barely outmaneuver them (I was willing to ram them if necessary but that was no guarantee I would get out.)  I have no idea why they pulled that stunt but, as that was also before I got my HCP, it sure would have been nice to have been able to have a loaded firearm in the vehicle.  But, hey, incidences where you might need a gun just in your vehicle never happen, right?  Wrong.   Where I now live is very rural.  Possibly remote, even, by some standards.  There has been at least one body dumped under a bridge on a secondary road that I cross every day on the way to and from work.  There are pull offs at both ends of that bridge where people pull off to fish and there are sometimes some pretty sketchy-looking characters there.  Crime in the area is generally pretty low but it only takes getting killed once to pretty well ruin your day.  With the constant rise in meth related crimes even rural areas where crime has traditionally been pretty low - maybe even especially rural areas - are not necessarily safe.  To me, it would make perfect sense for a person to want to have a loaded firearm with them in their vehicle on such a commute even if they did not have an HCP and didn't want to carry everywhere.  But, again, that doesn't fit with your world view so it must be stupid.   Here is another aspect that no one is considering.  Have you ever needed to go in some place where firearms are not allowed but had a non-HCP holding adult with you who decided to stay in the vehicle?  Under the old law, that person could technically be in violation of the law if you left your loaded firearm in the vehicle with them.  If I understand the way the car carry bill is written, under the new 'car carry' law (if Haslam signs it) they would have nothing to worry about.   Yes, I prefer having my HCP and I prefer not having to leave a loaded firearm in my vehicle.  That was one of the reasons many of us really wanted the law changed so we could keep our firearm on us when eating in a restaurant where alcohol is served.  Still, I believe that having the option to keep a loaded firearm in the vehicle is preferable to not having any option for access to a loaded firearm outside of one's home, at all.
