  5. I got a container from these guys: https://www.mobilemini.com All I had to provide was a level gravel pad... they delivered and placed it.  Had it for two years now... zero leaks, works great. I use it as storage and a garage for my atv. Mobile mini put additional security on it that means unless you've got a cutting torch, you aint getting in. Very happy with it so far.

  6. I'll be in for it! I also want a Runt or Scamp... maybe a cheaper knife for the next run will allow more folks to join in, and get 'em on the hook for another $200+ knife later, like the Rockeye did for me. Honestly, had I not been able to get one of those I doubt I'd have jumped on the Godfather at $240, just because it is so far out of my normal price range for knives. However, after the ultimate satisfaction and pride with the LG101, I'm down for all of the future ProTech buys, as long as I can make it happen financially. :-)

  7. I went down a rabbit hole earlier after clicking a conspiracy theory link regarding Ebola. While west-Africans may be ignorant due to superstitions and lack of education, Americans can be just plain stupid with the level of access to information that we have. There is a lot of misinformation being circulated right now by people looking to profit off this scare... a lot of "don't trust the government; buy my book to learn the REAL secrets to surviving the Ebola outbreak." Needless to say, my fellow Americans are eating this up, because they never hesitate to turn a crisis into something that fits their narrative, whether it be left/right/straight lunatic.

  8. EDIT: It's time for rifle pics. The views I've experienced while hanging from a tree or sitting in a well placed blind are hard to beat. I'm not sure if there is any interest or not but I think it would be cool to have a thread here to post pictures taken from of of your stand or blind. Pics of things such as sunrises, sunsets, bright green food plots, blinds, etc... Rugerla is the one that made me think of this because of a text conversation we had earlier. I asked him if he'd seen anything and he responded "no, but I always enjoy it anyways" and it made me think that sometimes we get to caught up in the kill and totally forget about the enjoyment of the hunt and the things we witness while we're out there. I didn't have a bow to use until a couple days ago so I don't have any pics from a 2014 hunt yet but i'll post up a few from a couple stand locations that I just planted a couple food plots at and built a couple box blinds. I just plated these plot over the past week and they got their first rain (if you want to call that heavy drizzle a rain) on Friday. I'll post updated pics as things start getting green. Here's 2 pictures from "stand 2". the first is the view from the blind and the 2nd is obviously of the blind itself These 2 are from and of "stand 1", This blind is sitting on top on the dam of the pond that is down behind the blind. I hope to see some cool pics show up EDIT: I meant for this to be a general deer hunting picture thread so anything related just feel free to post.

  9. Just got my Dillon RL550B Friday, but it's not doing anything because there's absolutely no pistol powder in all of East Tennessee!   On the plus side, I got 500 rounds of 22lr for $32 at Mahoney's in JC

  12. If you are going to cast I would look at powder coating the bullets. Makes the alloy less critical. Powder coated bullets run cleaner than plain cast or jacketed. You can push them as hard as jacketed in most calibers, definitely in 357 magnum, and the best part is you can color coordinate your bullets to what you are wearing that day.

  16. I am partial to S&W but there are several other brands worth owning. IMO, 22lr/22mag and 38/357 are the most practical to start with for many reasons. If I could own only one revolver it would be a S&W 65 in the 3" flavoring.

  23.    I decided that I'd jump the fence and try to find where they are coming through at rather than try to figure out which neighbor owns that tract of land back there and then go find him. I didn't walk far before I found 2 big holes in the fence so I found some old wire laying around and used it to tie the fence up and stack brush up in front of the openings. Hopefully that will be enough to keep them out but if not I'm going to pick up some barbed wire and stretch 2-3 stands all the way down through that area of the fence. I guess i'll know in the next couple of days when I check my camera.  Most of the skin on the second blind is that stuff I got from you and some of the first blind is as well. They actually looked pretty good even before the paint. Of course they are framed like a house and are nice and square so everything was fitted together nicely. I wanted them pretty tight that way when I get it insulated and the windows put in I won't have to worry about mice and wasps taking up residence in my blinds. Wasp are usually gone by the time deer season rolls around but I'm thinking that these 2 spots would be good places to hunt coyote from as well so I don't want to have to contend with them every time I want to hunt. If I can keep the mice out then they will end up de-insulating my blinds for me and that wouldn't make me very happy.

  26. This is one of my favorites:   Lieutenant Colonel John Malcolm Fleming Curchill "Mad Jack" fought through WWII carrying a longbow and a Scottish broadsword. He is accredited as the only British soldier with a confirmed longbow kill.   His motto was "any officer who goes into action without his sword is improperly dressed".   http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2591552/World-War-2-hero-Mad-Jack-Churchill-named-one-worlds-greatest-adventurers.html

  29. Short summary: The TN legislature has passed laws in the past which would have regulated and/or placed limits on certain abortion procedures. Court cases were filed, and the TN supreme court wiped the laws out due to State unconstitutionality. The dissenting judge remarked as follows: "Plainly stated, the effect of the court's holding today is to remove from the people all power, except by constitutional amendment, to enact reasonable regulations of abortion," This served as inspiration to pro-life groups to put a Constitutional Amendment on this years general election. The amendment does nothing on its own other than open the door for legislation to pass TN constitutioal muster. Of course, and law would still be subject to the Roe decision since the 14th amendment incorporated the 1st amendment to the states, and that is the amendment in which the Scotus found the right to abortion under the penumbra of privacy. One can reasonably expect to find a relaunch of the 2000 laws which were struck down, which include a mandated 3 day waiting period, and counseling, a prohibition of partial birth abortions, and probably also some new wrinkles that we have seen in some other states such as requiring abortion clinics to meet the same standards as ambulatory surgical centers and for abortion clinics physicians to have hospital admitting privileges. There is no way a complete ban law would pass and even if it did, it would not hold up as it would be contrary to Roe in spite of the hype by the Pro Choice groups. Again - no matter the law potentially passed, you can guarantee court cases will be filed. http://www.dnj.com/story/news/2014/10/04/amendment-responds-state-supreme-court-ruling/16733781/

  32. If you guys should ever find yourself in New Orleans I highly recommend taking a day to stop by the WWII museum. I had a blast checking out the exhibits but the best part was chatting with a few vets that were there for an event later that day. Some information on the restoration of the b-17 above.

  34. Yea, I can't wait for things to start sprouting. Stand 2 is where the cattle I told you about came in. I put a small salt block out to draw any that came through, over in front of the camera to have their pictures taken. The cattle came in and there's no sign that there was ever a salt block there and they cleaned up just about every persimmon (or whatever is is) that was on the ground. I'm going to try to find where they're coming through when I get there tomorrow but if I can't find it I guess I've gotta go talk to the neighbor about them. This stand is a good ways from the other. 3 stands so I don't think I'll have to worry much about them messing those up. I've spent way to much money on blinds, fertilize and seed this year to just let the cattle have their way with that plot. I have added the insulation or the windows to the two new blinds in the pictures yet but I'm planning to buy the stuff to do it tomorrow.

  38. I have said for a very long time that California is the petri dish for the nation. Every single law passed that affect liberties started in California. Look at every single bit of gun legislation in the last 40 years and it was first a California law. All the environmental laws started in California and went nationwide. The AWB was, err still is, in effect in California long before it was made a national ban. And when those at a national level think their laws are working they pass it on a national level.   And another problem isn't California passing these laws. It is those Californians that move to free states and try to make those states just like the California they left. Same thing with those from New England. They hate their state so much they move here but then the miss it enough to try to make Tennessee just like the state they left except cheaper.

  43. peejman, I just got this image of a big, kind of burly guy with a full beard (kind of a Spots looking fellah) sitting in a wooden rocking chair with a pair of knitting needles and couple of balls of paracord.  Someone says to him, "Jimbo, what the heck are you doin'?"  Jimbo replies, "What the hell's it look like?  I'm makin' myself a bug out bag entirely out of paracord.  Gonna make some badass, tactical mittens, too!"

  44. I used the blackhawk just as an example. I know the chapter arms rimless revolver doesn't use them, but I couldn't think of it when writing. As far as moonclips being used on all defensive revolvers I will have to disagree, I use speed loaders and have for years. jmho.
    1 point
  45. Intriguing but not necessarily ideal considering the trade offs of full moon clips, even though they afford speedier reloads. I believe this is one of those "I'd like to see it, handle it and think about it" revolvers. If I'm going the route of an LCR .357 Magnum platform I'd sooner stick with it in .357 Magnum with mid range loads. That's my personal take on the matter. In the end though I expect it t have a brief flurry of interest with moderate purchases and then fade into obscurity.

  46. I'm not talking about folks on welfare...  I'm talking about 20-something students...  working class folks who have a hard time taking 2 days off of work to get a permit...  single mothers etc...  The price tag attached to a HCP is a lot more than the cost of the class, or the cost of the licence...  time costs money..

  47. I'm not buying the low income is excluded argument, especially when the "low income" folks are carrying smart phones, watching flat screen TVs, wearing designer trainers, and eating steak out on their EBT cards. If it's a priority, they can get it.
