I know I've seen several posts about spiders. Here is a chart to help us with these creatures:7 points

So I am quitting "the habit." I've seen numerous other people state their reasons for leaving or not joining to begin with; and I am finally coming to my senses. The realization that the social network is nothing but a joke. It's like a veil over reality, fake and superficial. I have wasted so much time looking at mindless ads, posts and game requests instead of actually reading something with substance. I feel like I can learn more from interacting with you guys here even though I may not always see eye to eye, that's life. Now I have time to actually spend using my mind instead of placating it with nonsense...3 points

My first wife died of cancer when she was 38 years old. She had melanoma which eventually metastasized to her lungs, liver, then her brain. We fought it as hard and as long as we were able. We saw doctors in Santa Monica and tried new chemo protocols but in the end, we all knew she was terminal. I found out when we got the results of the MRI of her brain, but I never chose to tell her exactly how long the doctors had given her to live. My fear was if she heard how short her time was thought to be, she might give up and quit believing, quit fighting. I simply didn't want her to stop fighting. I needed her to live, our 10 year old daughter needed her to live, as did all of her family. It was not easy. In the end she was unable to do anything for herself and she relied upon me for the simplest and most personal things. I loved her greatly and would have done anything possible to extend her life just a few more hours, or to make her the slightest bit more comfortable. Was I selfish? Perhaps. I know it's hard to believe, but through twenty one years together both dating, and in marriage, my wife and I were never closer as a couple than in her final months and days, battling her disease together. Watching the strength and grace with which she lived her life was and has been an inspiration to me to this day. While it was tough seeing her slowly losing her ability to fight, the closeness we shared during those days will never be forgotten. I do not regret a single moment, or a single decision, and I rest easy knowing my wife died after fighting the good fight, and running the good race. My own personal experience tells me this young lady may have chosen the day and the hour of her death, but in so doing she may have missed out some very special moments with her family, moments they may someday wish they had to remember. Sometimes the simplest joys of life truly come from being in the midst of the storm with those we love the most. May God rest her soul.3 points

Remove the ability to local governments to ban carry at parks. It's just too confusing for travelers and serves no purpose.3 points

My favorite thought of late on Facebook is something similar to, "if you're using a product that you don't pay for and wondering how they make money, it's likely you are the product."3 points

Don't forget to get out and cast your vote tomorrow if you haven't all ready done so. That is all.2 points

I read your post ... nothing is getting celebrated ...its HER decision to end her own life.. seems that all her family was Ok with it and came to terms with it..thats what makes it easier.. planned vs a sudden death is very different..I hope I can plan my own death when I see fit..I am hoping my loved ones understand and are not seflish enough to keep me with them when I am in so much pain and cant bear it any longer..Sometimes loving someone very much means having to let go.2 points

Ok, The Godfather is in the house!! I must say that pics do not do it justice. It is a hell of an impressive knife! That visually stunning look is just too much for words. Can't wait to show my wife the latest toy!2 points

I would like to have a law passed that would make CCW permit holders exempt from background checks (NICS) since the permit already verifies that we are able to own a firearm. Since the NICS is only supposed to be a verification of legality to own and no other purpose, then a CCW permit makes it obsolete. Thoughts?2 points

We were thrilled with the great turnout in spite of the poor weather conditions in the area. Fortunately, there was no precipitation though it was a little cool. I want to thank everybody for participating and for our great sponsors for supporting this match. Look forward to seeing y'all next year. Beth's advantage is that she's got some good experience living in the post apocalyptic world, which has made her fearless. The others in the hospital, not so much. I can't wait till either she or Carol take Dawn out.2 points

Got off a few years back. If people needed to know what's going on in my life, they can be a friend and find out in person.2 points

I try to avoid the subject as much as possible with anyone outside my family. Don't really want people knowing what I have or don't have, what I am prepared for or not prepared for, etc. Kind of like cc vs oc. I don't like to draw unwanted attention.2 points

Since i already had a picture on photobucket....FNS 9mm with night sights, TLR-1 and a spare mag holding 17 additional rounds.1 point

Depending on the season/carry rotation, usually 3 or more of these are within arm's reach of my bed. A few more within 2 steps.1 point

Precisely my plan. ;-) Possibly two of them. I want a lighter (cheeeeep) carbine to throw a red dot on and a nicer rifle to turn into a longer range shooter. And I want to get some better parts for my current ARs. And ammo. And mags. And .... and.... and.... I think you catch my drift. :-) And I don't care about names... I honestly don't feel there is a performance difference between a PTAC lower and a PSA lower. If they run PTAC AR10 lowers for like $70/ea, I may get 3 or 4!1 point

I have my mossberg 930 and my AK tucked next to my side of the bed....once i SBR my AR and get my can that will probably replace the two mentioned above...1 point

The only one that consistently stays by my bed is a no frills Bushmaster carbine. I like this because it's simple, high capacity, and my wife is fairly proficient with it with less recoil than a shotty (sorry uncle Joe :-\ .)1 point

Ruger adds new stuff more than any other manufacturer I know. Pretty amazing diversity really, especially when you figure in all the different calibers within each product line too. - OS1 point

I've waited up to 3 weeks for stuff from PSA. And I'm ready to do the same when they go nuts with the black Friday deals again this year! I'm literally saving my pennies as we speak, hahaha!1 point

Picked up this afternoon, put 282 rounds of 230gr ball and JHP thru it with one fail to feed at about the 200 round mark, fifth round in a 8 round mag. Shot very well with the ammo which were my reloads. Basic 1911-A1 style pistol, comes with just one mag and box. They had it for $810, traded in a Taurus PT 1911 on it. I spend way to much time at Tennessee Gun Country, but love their range. SORRY I DO NOT DO PICTURES!1 point

ABSOLUTELY eat what you store. ROTATE! ROTATE! ROTATE! The local Food Lion went out of business recently. 50% or more off everything. Filled a buggy with canned stuffs. Local Fred's ran Chef Boyardee Ravioli for 40¢ a can too. Keep several flats of everything. Use a sharpie to put the purchase date on the top of the can as well as the expiration date. The dang expiration date can be a pain to read on some brands. Take the time to clearly mark it and it'll motivate you to keep everything rotated.1 point

That MSRP is a little disappointing. I was hoping for around $1200. I'll wait. Tavor prices really came down after a year or so.1 point

Facebook has been, for me: 1) a great gig getter, being self-employed. I have made some really good connections that have been an income boost. 2) a great place for getting the price I want for firearms. Folks don't hover like vultures waiting for death there. 3) a fun place to find out how far off the idiot shelf some of my real-life friends have fallen. :rofl:1 point

Something like this might work and not hit your spare when mounted. Tray racks tend to hold the bikes more securely than a rack you hang the bike from. Protects the bike components and your vehicle's finish. Might also work so you can open your tailgate. I will say that if worrying about not opening your tailgate when you are biking is an issue, maybe you shouldn't be MTB'ing... :stir: :D http://www.hollywoodracks.com/bike-racks/hitch-racks/trailrider-hitch-rack.htm1 point

Thanks guys. His name is Drake. I think his original race name was CTW Drake. I haven't looked at his tattoo to make sure and I guess it doesn't really matter. He's a very lovable dog and a bit of a night owl. He doesn't like to be away from people and that worries me just a bit. I know how much trouble they can get in when nobody is around. I've had to adjust a little too. Being used to total silence when sleeping the clanking of the dog tag makes for a restless night.1 point

Personally not a big fan of iwb carry. Just my taste and opinion. Having said that, the Raw Dog Holsters look interesting. And the Alien gear line as well.1 point

I have done my part to keep Ruger in business. Heck I was even supplied with a 25 round magazine. Bill Ruger probably spun in his grave with that promotion. and can you imagine how those that paid 2k+ for an AR a few years ago feel?1 point

G. Gordon Liddy often said, "I don't own firearms, my wife does". :) Seriously though, I think it's pretty well accepted that the only completely safe legal way in that situation is for the lawful owner to always have sole possession of them, either with person or locked away. On the other hand, I'd want my felonious mate to be able to save my life if it came to it regardless of any literal legal interpretation. Obviously, no legal advice is intended in this post. ;) - OS1 point

Some of you folks know I fished bass tournaments for many years and just quit about 2011 and turned the Skeeter bass boat over to my Son in Law. During the many years of fishing I met some wonderful people but there was on angler in particular that I developed a friend ship with and even though we were fierce competitors while on the water we became the best of friends on dry land. His name was Ray. Now Ray was known to take a nip of two or three.......lol and my glass was never empty while I was with him in the parking lots of boat ramps visiting with other anglers after a tournament. Ray always had a smile on his face and he would normally keep folks laughing with his and Stumps fishing escapades over the years. Ray and Stump won a lot of tournaments over the years. He always told folks it was because they always used my baits that I made special for him and he and Stump did buy a lot of my baits but that is for another time. Back in 2009 Ray was informed by his doctor that he had a tumor close to the size of a ping pong ball causing his headaches and that he needed to have it removed. Well, after some thought Ray decided that he was not going to have an operation and asked the doctor how long he had. The doctor said well Ray, there is really no way to put a time on death but I can promise you the pain will get worse before you die. Ray looked at him and said Well Doc, that is were you come in. your job will be to keep my pain as minimum as possible with what ever medications you can use by law and I will do the rest with Jack Daniels. At one of the Bigger Tournaments that came up that next weekend Ray told all of his friends what his plans were for his future. He told everyone that he didn't want any pity and didn't want any one to treat his any different and we didn't That was I think in March of 2009. Him and Stump fish as usual and Ray cut up and had folks laughing as usual and he rolling bar was open as usual at every weigh in. Stump was designated driver of both boat and truck by then and under the cover in the back of his pick up was the bar. We all could see him going away a little more each time we all saw him. In July he and Stump fish the PBF Inc Trail tournament on Old Hickory lake and in their usual fashion they won it and everyone was glad for them and the bar was open after the weigh in. Ray took me aside for sort few minutes and he told me that he was not going to be fishing any more and he did not want me to come and visit him any more and he requested that i remember his now and how he is now. I promised him I would do as he requested. The bass fishing industry lost a great angler and a bunch of us lost a wonderful friend on I think it was September 10th 2009 Ray did as this young lady is doing. Ray did it "HIS WAY"1 point

It's not my place to judge her, I think it would be cruel to force her to suffer in agony just for a few weeks or a month. That's not living, just existing.1 point
