  1. I live on a little country road where we know everyone. There are a few neighborhood kids that ride bikes that live right across the road. My parents live next door and my 20 year old sister is home from college this weekend and thay tend to hang around a little more when she is home.... weird lol. One boy is around 13 and the other is 15 and their father owns guns and they have shot his before and they turkey hunt as well. Well I was out in the yard running a few cheap rounds of birdshot through my ol' Wingmaster when they came over on their bikes. I let them both shoot it. They told me about the 870 their father bought them. Anyway, they started asking different questions about types of guns and so on. So after a chat we went back over to my house and I got one of each out to show them. Shotgun, AR, AK, bolt rifle and a couple Glocks. I was explaining how each one worked and they were eating it up. They were asking some really good questions like how the AR cycles and the differences in shot sizes and so on. So eventually we ended up at the kitchen table with a small dry erase board and a marker. I would crudely draw it out on the board and then we would take each gun apart and I woukd show them which piece does what. They really learned something today and it made me feel good to teach them and them take it seriously. Those are some good kids. Gave me hope yet for the next generation.

  3. Well I guess I have found it is time to do what I probably should have done back a few weeks ago. That is let folks here know about health issues I found I have. I went to ER back about 12 days before Christmas for a UTI (urinary tract infection) during the tests I found out that I also have type 2 Diabetes.   I also learned I have an Aneurism 8 centimeters in size in my abdomen that requires surgery.   Before the surgeon would operate she wanted me to consult with a cardiac doctor to see if my heart would survive the surgery. Went in on Thursday for stress tests and a battery of other tests. Not good news. The doctor said I have a couple blockages in my heart according to the tests.    Monday I go in for an arterialgram and the doctor said that if he can locate the blockages that he will more than likely install stints at that time to correct the problem. If the heart fix works I am still facing the Aneurism surgery as soon as I recover from the heart issue if it is successful.      So that is where my life is right now. Everything in my life has done a 180 in the last month. I have addressed the diabetes and now have it under control but right now. that   The UTI is gone are to date the only positives to come out of this.      I don't usually ask for much but if any of ya'll could, a prayer or two would really be appreciated. I have been a bit overwhelmed with all that has happened in my life and being able to spend time here since this happened has been great therapy for me. I could not think of a better place to be right now than here with friends

  15. He murdered a kid that was trying to defend himself after being chased down by a nutcase. He also likes to abuse women. He is a punk. Since he obviously also has a death wish; they need to quit putting him in protective custody. Yea sure; he’s being picked on by the press.

  16.   No way i'll say anything nice about that racist and race baiter Sharpton but Zimmerman has some responsibility why his life is screwed up. My neighbor asked me to call him if I saw strange vehicles or kids on his property in front of my house, the old KS elementry school. That is all I will do is call him and let him know, I have no business going down there to confront anyone, if I did and there was a shooting I would be partly to blame no matter how it happened. Now if I think my neighbor is being murdered that may be different, can't say 100% what i'll do because I've never had to do it. Zimmerman should have stayed in his vehicle and out of sight and let the police handle any suspicious persons, he had a right to save his life but he started the situation.

  17. I defended his right to defend himself against Travon Martin, I thought Travon was a thug in training but I also thought Zimmerman was partly responsible for the confrontation, not enough for a murder charge though. He was a cop wannabe who I believe I read he was turned down for the police acadamy who probably saw he wasn't cut out for it, he went ahead and got out of his vehicle when told not to, if you want to be a cop you should be physically fit enough to fight back against most people and obviously he wasn't. Anyway I agreed with the decision of the jury, 2nd degree murder charges were over the top. Now we see more of who Zimmerman is, this ordeal he's going through is no excuse, he was an idiot before and he's an idiot now and an out of control violent idiot. Probably beats on girls because he can't fight against a man.

  18. Same here. I have a couple of the magpul DVDs and they have some good content. If I had my druthers I'd train with Haley ten times over before Costa
    2 points
  19. Costa was never on my "to do trainers list." I have some of his Magpul videos and there is some good info there, but there is too much I disagree with. Example, the way he teaches malfunction clearances...diagnostic.  I teach non-diagnostic.  It's not always on a brightly lit range when things go bad.   The asshat who was banned because of a recent thread involving Costa...I didn't necessarily disagree with some of the stuff he said.  I just didn't like some of the repeated, over-the-top, personal grudge attacks he made.

  20. I grow weary of all the "French just roll over" talk. Does no one remember what they did for us in the Revolution? How many of them died in WWI? In WWII, who was it that held off the Germans outside of Dunquerque (sp) so that over 200,000 Brits and Canadians could escape, against near suicidal odds? The French did. Who was it that saved untold numbers of downed allied airmen from the Germans, under threat of torture and death? The French Resistance. C'mon folks. They've been with us from the beginning, generally willing to go into hell with us, knowing we'd back them up if sh** went sideways. Their political leaders be d@mned, they are some brave folks, unafraid of getting into the fray.

  21.   It isn't even limited to their Special Operations units.  When the French committed a combat brigade to Afghanistan in 2009 the only "national caveat" they had was to be given their own battle-space like a US Brigade has to manage.  There was none of the 'can't fight at night' 'won't participate in offensive operations' restrictions more than a few members of ISAF had.

He's a good guard dog and listens really well. Chloe beats up on him constantly! She looks mean as hell but when it comes to humans shes a big baby. Terrible guard dog...

  24. My wife would have never even considered an animal in our house. I dropped of a lab puppy one morning. When I got home that evening, she was sitting on the couch with the puppy sleeping peacefully at her feet. A lab puppy will train your wife in short order.

  33. I'm assuming this is a 1500 and not a 2500/3500 with the 8.1l 496 big block. Or a v6. If it is a small block v8 it should have more pressure than that, but that's with 10w30 oil no additives. Is your oil level good? Most likely the sending unit. Has the gauge cluster ever been replaced? There was a recall on the servo motors in them to cause some of the gauges to not read correctly.

  34. On the other side of things, this dudes life was ruined because of the BS. He's broke, jobless, lost his family and people want to kill him. I've got a feeling he wouldn't be screwing up as much as he is if his life weren't turned upside down by the likes of al sharpton.

  36. The answer to a question you didn't exactly ask:   One needs a Type 6 FFL to be engaged in the business of manufacturing ammunition.   "The term “engaged in the business” means—   as applied to a manufacturer of ammunition, a person who devotes time, attention, and labor to manufacturing ammunition as a regular course of trade or business with the principal objective of livelihood and profit through the sale or distribution of the ammunition manufactured"   - OS

  37. I would highly advise doing something about the situation now while you have the foresight. IMO if anything happens you'll have your neighbors to blame, and maybe yourself if your really concerned about the situation already. It's not the breeds fault, or it's protectors that your neighbors won't contain their animals. Any breed or breeds running loose unchecked like that will be a problem for you sooner or later if you want to take advantage of your land and let your poochie run for a while or your kids out to build a fort. Make the call now.

  40. Well congrats. We aren't living on ours yet but hopefully will be in about 3 years.   Chickens will work your garden area pretty well pre-planting. You can run ducks if you want the same fertilization of chickens without all the damage and the eggs are very tasty. Ducks are easier to herd as well...   A subcompact tractor would be pretty helpful. A lot of them will have a front end loader and a mid mount mower (think slightly larger than a normal riding lawn mower). You can save for a few years and get one a few years old for pretty decent pricing.       The best thing I like about our land is going outside, standing really still and listening to the sound of... nothing...   Mark

  41. Just one thing.....I never read or hear about collies, labs, and (fill in the blank) mauling and killing people. I'm sure it happens....rarely. It's always pit bulls and more often than not it's their owners that pay the price...the ones that keep telling everyone how wonderful they are. So whatever...adults make their own decisions and as long as they keep them in their homes or yards I don't really care. Pits have a reputation for a reason...it's not just dreamed or made up.   I've owned a dog most all my life but would never consider a  Pit in a million years. That's just me maybe....but it's my decision and no one else's.

  46. Me and another kid in school used to have 2 sea bags each full of toy guns. We had WAR!!! every day at recess for 2 straight years during 5th and 6th grade. We pretty much armed everyone down to the 4th grade and the 3rd graders who the teachers would let play with us.   3rd graders make excellent Prison Camp guards and scout/spies.     Just imagine the horror and court ordered psych evals and forced medication they'd have us all under if we were kids doing that now.
