  1. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/tenn-school-district-says-it-can%E2%80%99t-stop-students-from-displaying-confederate-flag-unless-it-causes-a-%E2%80%98disturbance%E2%80%99/ar-BBlIFZE   This article doesn't pertain to our school, but it did remind me of a recent event.   The first day of school, our high school has a new principal. He gathers the school together for his big speech. One of the items on his agenda was to ban the display of the confederate flag, or the wearing of apparel depicting it. Well, the next day, my kids as well as many other wore their best Dukes of Hazzard t shirts, and the superintendent's phone never quit ringing. Oddly enough, the new principal was told if he liked his job, he'd ease up a bit on the restrictions.   He was good with rainbow stuff and all that entails, but the confederate flag was a no go.   This makes me wonder what is now taught in history class.

  2. She has arrived ! I am not sure what these guys were thinking when they came up with this GI model idea, forged frame,no MIM.hand fitted slick looking ww2 copy for low $700s? A super tight well machined classic that has the looks of a boring GI pistol with the engine of a turbo vette under the hood,....This thing is a sleeper ! Quality is amazing and talk about tight, this thing is tighter than any 1911 I have ever picked up . Going to hit the range today and try this baby out !

  3. Think about this.  These people are blaming legal handgun carry permit people for their problems in parks.  They are making a bigger deal out of handgun carry permits carrying than gang bangers carrying.  They think gang bangers carrying is just something that happens but throw a fit when an honest man is carrying to protect himself from the criminals.  I've never seen this much effort put into deterring criminals from carrying.

  10. Has nothing to do with revenue. It is just like everything else, control. They want to control every aspect of our lives even if it is very, very minor. Our country never repeals laws, they just choose not to enforce them. But they are still there waiting for the right person to decide to suddenly enforce them again. Jury nullification can be used to find someone innocent of an old law but most courts will not allow anyone to taint the jury with jury nullification.

  11. I've been around or owned guns all my life and there was a time when people understood criminals commit crimes, not their weapon of choice. Gun control is an "emotional issue" used by Progressives as a political tool and "gun free zones" are the best example of a dangerous and ineffective law. Liberal/Progressive politicians are a criminals best friend! I just moved to a small town in eastern Tennessee from another state. Fortunately, the town has an Ace Hardware, store which will come in handy since I'm building a cabin on the mountain and will need lots of materials. Unfortunately the owner posted a 'no gun' sign. On my first visit, my carry permit had not yet arrived in the mail so I wasn't armed and didn't look for signage. On my second visit after receiving my permit, I noticed the sign and walked back to the truck and secured my gun. I then when in the store and asked for the owner who wasn't in. I told the guy at the counter I would not patronize any business that required me to go on unarmed. The moral of the story is that I drove to the next town where there is a Lowe's hardware store and have spent a few thousand dollars in the last couple of months and there is much more to come. It requires a 14 mile round trip but which I'll gladly drive to exercise my Second Amendment rights. Posting the sign was a costly mistake that did nothing to make the store safer. I'm sure he 'felt' better though.

  12. I think this thread has far exceeded any good that may be derived from it by constantly restating the same themes and contentions. So I think I'll pursue the rarest of activities and go talk about guns. I'm done here.

  21.   Thanks for posting the CZ information. That pretty much solidified my decision on the pistol.   I called Chris, and surprisingly got to him immediately. Very friendly fellow. Told him what I wanted, and I knew that they most likely wouldn't sell direct on this.   But Chris was very helpful, above and beyond the call I would say. He went thru dealer listings for me and found one that showed to still have one available.   Gave me their phone number and said good luck.   Can't get much better in customer relations that this.   So...I have one on the way.   Thanks CZ, Elk County Ammo & Arms and of course the man responsible for this today...mhl6493!

  23. Pick the one you would if they cost the same. The savings isn't worth being left with the feeling you settled because of cost. I am the king of cheap but I will spend the money needed to get what I want.

  24. None of the people listed are legislators... judging by there affiliations, they are mostly known gun grabbers. If there are legislators there, they probably didn't have the stomach to list themselves... Except for maybe Harris out of Memphis, but even he's not on the list. This smells fishy.   This is gonna be real "productive"... :bs: :waiting:

  25. Keep doing what your doing, too many people think there shooting is bad form eye dominance when it's just poor fundamentals. I'm a left eye dominant, right handed shooter. I just make it work. You may want to switch eyes but I'm not sure it will help you, dry fire and proper training will let you overcome the eye dominance issue. That's just my 2 penny's worth!

  32. Under no circumstances does the definition of reasonable cause or probable cause impede the officer's authority to use his own judgement in defending himself when he believes it necessary. Whether anyone likes it or not, officers have discretion to act to protect themselves according to the dictates of circumstances without having to operate with the strict letter of some standardized legal definition. Sorry, you can't put cops in that particular bottle. It just won't wash.

  33.   It seems we don't see eye to eye yet.        I'm just discussing the event.  Nitpicking is something I do, I'm a big fan of critical analysis.       Being engaged by a citizen who has a carry permit, is open carrying, and is showing no signs of belligerence is a statistical improbability, even with a very skewed p-value.  That's why I find it unreasonable.    I'm certain you're right that a jury would side with the officer...but I find that a issue of ignorance about firearms ownership, the permit process and general firearms responsibility as much as anything.

  39. Just to add to a PITA week I am already having...I am going to share something that just happened 10 minutes ago.   If anyone didn't know, I'm currently AD Army stationed on Campbell and been trying to sell my WASR-10. One of my coworkers asked me to send him a picture and typed his number into my phone...apparently he fat-fingered my touch screen and put a "0" where there should have been a "1"   A few minutes later I get a call from a Louisiana number - from a VERY IRATE lady working at a counseling clinic of some sorts, she was demanding to know who I am. A quick synopsis: Her: WHO ARE YOU?! Me: Umm, I don't know this number so who are you? Her: Well I just received a picture of a machine gun at my work phone and called the police to file a threat report!   Then...I knew what had happened. Instead of SGT So-and-So getting my picture, apparently it got sent to the work phone of a youth counselor near Ferguson....holy crap. She said she called the police to file a hate crime report or something.   Finally explained the situtation to her: 1) It is not a Machine Gun 2) I am a resident of Tennessee and in the Army 3) It is a legal weapon 4) This is a big misunderstanding.   She lightened up after that - kudos to her confronting the threat, I apologized and she said she would call of the Local PD and tell them it was a misunderstanding - hopefully CID or some other wierdos do not come and try to ball me up over this, it would just add to the level of stupidity that I am undergoing lol.   So folks, make sure you confirm the number of the person you are trying to text before you send it. Especially if they do not say it to you.   Hopefully nothing more comes of this...

  43. Just watched the video. It must have taken great restraint on the rider's part to not react reflexively when the cop snatched his gun. I know for me, it wouldn't be a conscious decision to react, even if for a fraction of a second. It was a dick move. I saw no reason he couldn't have simply told the rider that he was going to disarm him. I think that would have gone further toward avoiding an "uncomfortable" situation. May have even kept him off the internet, who knows.

  44. Biker should have shown us how his plate looked from a few yards away to give us perspective on the stop. That would have helped a bit.   I get that the police have the legal authority to disarm someone for officer safety with no reason needed, but nothing in that video justified it for me.  The bike rider wasn't combative, belligerent, or anything that would indicate danger.  Also, you can make out that the officer has his hand on his weapon from stepping out of the cruiser, so he already has the advantage on the draw.   It's my right to be armed.  I even had to meet a series of standards to prove to the state that I'm deserving of that right.  Seems the biker did so as well.  For a police officer to casually dismiss someone of that right "just because" gives me concern.

  45. Yep. I hear lots of older guys who know a whole lot about guns use the word clips. It's pretty common slang. Just like a ccw. Most states issue a ccw, with open carry either being permitted by all or completely illegal. So the gentleman in question could have easily moved here from a state that uses a ccw. I try not to judge others intelligence on a matter by the slang they use. Sometimes they still know a whole hell of a lot on the subject they are speaking about. Sent from the backwoods

  46. Must respectfully disagree with these statements. Of course there will be some very small folks who wouldn't be able to get a little .22 baby gun in their front pocket, or maybe they have painted on designer jeans, but Hickok45 carried the 43 in his front pocket using an Alabama Holster (see Youtube). It is a very small gun that is very thin and light...I tried it in the store without a holster and it is in the same range as my 642 (which is probably the most popular pocket gun in the US). I ran several drills with it last weekend using a different pocket holster and it worked perfectly every time without any issues. I certainly think it is appropriate and won't be a problem for a majority of the population. If it doesn't work for some reason with the Alabama holster I'll go IWB, but I expect it will be fine. Anyway, I never questioned the size of the gun - those measurements are all over the internet and the gun is readily available at gun stores to try for yourself (or not). My only question was how best to carry this small gun in a front pocket and I think several have agreed with and confirmed what Hickock45 recommended...that's the way I'm headed. Thanks for the helpful and positive input guys, B

  47.   I recommend your favorite branded DSLR with the motion capture specs you want (60fps, 1080p, etc)   Believe it or not, but some TV shows are shot elusively with fairly affordable DSLRs. Wilfred was originally shot with a Cannon EOS 7D.   I'm positive my Sony NEX 5n is more than capable of great quality video.
