  1. Just picked up this sexy thing in a trade. Its pretty beat up but looks damn good to me. 1962 Colt Python with the original box and test target!! I think the plating is a bad refinish. The box claims that this one was born blue and I tend to agree. Called Colt and they couldn't tell me the original finish so I had to pay $100 for them to dig through the archives. In 100 days I should know then I can send it to Colt for them to restore to factory. The turnaround for that is around 9 months. So a year from now I should be getting a pristine python......hopefully they'll still be in business. Took it out last weekend and shot the hell out of it. And it shoots like a dream. Even convinced my son to take a turn after I mentioned the Walking Dead....go figure

  2. An old prospector shuffled into town leading a tired old mule.  The old man headed straight for the only saloon to clear his parched throat. He walked up and tied his old mule to the hitch rail.  As he stood there, brushing some of the dust from his face and clothes, a young gunslinger stepped out of the saloon with a gun in one hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other. The young gunslinger looked at the old man and laughed, saying, “Hey old man, have you ever danced?” The old man looked up at the gunslinger and said, “No, I never did dance.  Never really wanted to.” A crowd had gathered as the gunslinger grinned and said, “Well, you old fool, you’re gonna dance now,” and started shooting at the old man’s feet. The old prospector — not wanting to get a toe blown off — started hopping around like a flea on a hot skillet.  Everybody was laughing, fit to be tied. When his last bullet had been fired, the young gunslinger, still laughing, holstered his gun and turned around to go back into the saloon. The old man turned to his pack mule, pulled out a double-barreled shotgun, and cocked both hammers. The loud clicks carried clearly through the desert air.  The crowd stopped laughing immediately. The young gunslinger heard the sounds too, and he turned around very slowly.  The silence was almost deafening. The crowd watched as the young gunman stared at the old timer and the large gaping holes of those twin barrels. The barrels of the shotgun never wavered in the old man’s hands, as he quietly said, “Son, have you ever kissed a mule’s ass?” The gunslinger swallowed hard and said, “No sir. But — I’ve always wanted to.” There are a few lessons for us all here: 1 – Never be arrogant. 2 – Don’t waste ammunition. 3 – Whiskey makes you think you’re smarter than you are. 4 – Always, always make sure you know who has the power. 5 – Don’t mess with old men; they didn’t get old by being stupid.

  4. Either you support the 2nd Amendment for all or you don't support the 2nd Amendment.  We yell and scream that they are taking our God Given Rights away when they pass gun laws yet now we want to put qualifiers on them?  If your position is that these are rights we are born with, then why does it not apply to other human beings?

  6. Today I overhead my boss and his boss discussion firearms mainly because of the reporters being shot. I finally decided to interject and discuss things with them.   I ended up fully explaining 4473's, FFL's, HCP's locally and nationally, registration, private sales "loopholes", , TN carry laws, etc. It was a quite lengthy conversation but I could tell they were interested.   Generally speaking, I would say that they are both "not gun-people" and not "pro gun-people" but mainly just accept whatever rhetoric that the news passes on to them. Personally I feel that they both are likely at minimum pro restriction/background checks/waiting period type people, and would likely jump on board with any "scary guns are evil" rhetoric as well.   I hope I did more good than harm, but I feel everyone should be educated instead of misinformed. That being said, sometimes someone misinformed but inactive is better for us than someone who knows the truth and decides to become active because they disagree with current firearm laws. So it was a tossup but I thought they both deserved to be informed so they can make their choice rather than a forced choice given to them by the skewed news (such as the "unregistered firearm" term used by the media).    I respect both of them greatly but do wish they were more onboard with some of the firearm stuff.    I guess I am posting this here because I'd like positive suggestions on maybe anything I could briefly followup on in terms of maybe a printout or any ideas that would be a positive "fight". I hope to be able to thank them for allowing me to converse with them regarding the issues and to feel free to ask any questions they may ever have.

  7. I bought a 10mm Fusion Firearms frameset a couple of years ago with the intention of building it myself. I started buying some of the parts, bought the Jerry Kuhnhausen shop manual, and had a solid plan in my head. Flash forward to last month when the frame is still sitting untouched in my safe. I decided the easiest thing to do would be to throw some money at the problem so I took it to Predator Customs along with the parts I'd already bought and asked them to build it for me. I picked it up today and couldn't be any happier. All of the non-Fusion parts are either Cylinder & Slide or Ed Brown. The color is called Tungsten Gray and it looks absolutely incredible in the sun.

  9.   Americans have bought into a lie that we can live free and totally safe. Freedom isn't safe, but living under a totalitarian isn't either. There is no way to actually live totally safe. There is always something out there that is unsafe (other people, weather, poor engineering, sickness, etc.) Our problem is that people want no risk and total freedom. Ain't gonna happen.

  14. All this crap really is starting to piss me off. Both of my Grandfathers entered the country Legally in 1914. Both fought in World War I. My grandpa on my dads side spent a year in a VA hospital after being gassed with Mustard gas. And both had to wait until the 1930's and pass a test before they were granted citizenship. I don't understand why it was not okay back then to make folks prove themselves then but it is now. What a mess. They do not have the right unless they are Legal. Period. I do not agree that any of our constitutional rights automatically apply to those in the country ILLEGALLY.  Legal but not a citizen yet then yes.    end of rant   :usa:

  15.   I guess Lanza just dumped the 154 spent .223 casings inside the school out of his pockets. Not to mention the rest of the live rounds still in the various AR mags. Oh yeah, and the Bushmaster Model XM 15 found next to his body. And the 3-11 wounds in each of the bodies.   There. I "waded in".   But of course, we didn't really go to the moon either and Elvis is still alive.   - OS

  18. The shooter is in custody after shooting himself when confronted by authorities. They say he is still alive but may not survive or be able to stand trial. Either way he will find himself in hell both before and after his death. I can only hope that he regains full cognitive function but is unable to move anything other than his eyeballs. That would be hell for anyone to be stuck in the tomb that is your own mind with no escape possible.   I watched the video the shooter took, it is sad and disturbing. What is really disturbing is the shooter pulled the gun out then stood there pointing it at the three victims before he began shooting. I guess at one point he realizes his gun does not have a round chambered so he chambers a round then begins firing 3-5 seconds later. All the victims were distracted by the interview and never noticed the shooter or had a clue about his intentions. It could also be that his former fellow employees might not have viewed him as a threat as well.   It truly is sad as the reporter just moved in with her long time boyfriend and they were planning on getting married soon.   We need to seriously look at the "justice" system. Not so much this case but other cases where the crimes were violent. Violent criminals should be classified differently and be punished differently than those who commit non violent crimes. I would have ZERO issue with some form of daily corporal punishment of anyone who is convicted of murder, rape, molestation or any of the other seriously violent crimes. Hold a separate trial to determine whether the crime was violent AND premeditated and if so let the daily punishment begin. Feed them nutritionally adequate meals that are made without the concern of how it tastes. Some sort of mush, like a thickened soup, that they get from a tube in the wall of their cell a few times a day. Feed them all the same thing and just enough to keep them alive, definitely not enough for them to work out or have the energy to escape or fight officers.   Right now someone who rapes a child then kills them gets to have most things we do on the outside. They also get free healthcare, paid for the work they do in prison, television, conjugal visits, televisions, free college, free food, not responsibilities and all of this in exchange for sitting in an air conditioned room. What criminals should do is fear our justice system but they don't because it is nothing more than a family reunion for most. Most criminals have it better than our soldiers which is sad.

  19. I have a Sig 1911 Nitron Rail. I need to adjust the rear sight a bit and I am looking for some feedback as to what sight pusher I should buy. If it fits other pistols it would be nice. Portability and field use are two things I hope the chosen tool has though. Anyone have some suggestions? I added a picture for fun.

  21. One time a grizzled old cowboy walked into a drugstore.   He had a long, matted beard in dire need of a trim.    What teeth he had left bore evidence of a great liking for chaw.     His hat was sweat stained and it's brim was torn - heck, it would make Gabby Hayes' worst hat look good.   His plaid cowboy shirt was threadbare and had buttons missing, and the butt of his jeans were durn near worn through.   He looked a mess.   When he got to the pharmacy the druggist asked: "Can I help you, cowboy?"   The old cowboy replied: "Yeah, I think I wont me some Viagra."   The druggist said: "OK, how many tabs would you like?"   "Oh just one." the old cowboy replied.   "Only one?" asked the druggist.   "Yessir, I break 'em into eighths and take an eighth at a time." said the old cowboy.   The druggist looked a little puzzled and said: "An eighth? That isn't much of a dose."   "Oh I don't wont it for sex," said the old cowboy "I jes wont to quit peein' on my new boots."

  22. The same people that want to have more in-depth background checks and are whining about people with mental problems getting guns are the same people that think threats are protected speech and don’t want anyone to have access to their health records. Most of these nutcase shooters could pass a background check. What in the world do they think could have been done to stop this guy? What are these “sensible laws that keep crazy people from getting guns”? http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/official-va-tv-murders-gun-purchased-legally/ar-BBm9XIv?ocid=spartandhp   Who knew the guy had problems? Did anything go to court? Was he getting psychiatric care? If so was he prescribed meds? Who should have known about that? What government agency do they want to have all that info? Did he make threats known to anyone? Was his friends and family aware of his problems? What did they do? Was Law Enforcement ever notified?

Bet you go through a pound of powder pretty quick! It ought to get the job done for you. Anxious to see that first buck you take with it.

  24. I was in the Gun Rack in Kingsport two days ago and they had an excellent to mint Yugo M24/47 with matching bolt for $350 (under $400 anyway) on their used rifle rack. The Yugo Mausers are first rate Mausers, but have the "intermediate" length action, which means it is about 1/8" shorter than the K 98 action. This is only important if you intend to rechamber for a round longer than the 8x57mm. The M24/47 has the milled steel butt plate instead of the stamped out sheet metal "cup" butt plates of the later war German Mausers (Kar 98), it has the milled trigger guard/magazine assembly and the straight bolt handle, plus it has a rear sling swivel instead of the milled sling cut in the stock. I've had a couple of them and loved them. NOW, I didn't look at the bolt face or the bore, so if you're interested in the gun I'll be glad to go over and give it a close inspection for you. Here is what one looks like: P.S. - this is one of the few European service rifles that does NOT have those blasted finger grooves in the stock.

  25. A CZ VZ-24 is a quite economical alternative to a K98. They are of good quality if you aren't set on German manufacture. I've got a fairly good one I picked up for $100 a few years back.   A little patience should turn one up for you for around $200-$250 I'm guessing.   These were manufactured at Brno, which has always been known for quality arms.

  28.   God Given Rights are not a part of the US Constitution. God or any other higher being is not mentioned at all. The Declaration of Independence states that all men are created with certain inalienable rights from the Creator, among them are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The Constitution is man's attempt at soldifying those rights as best he can for "we the people of the United States." It then hangs on who exactly that includes. Only citizens? Visiting foreigners? Spouses of citizens? Green-card holding immigrants? Illegal aliens?

I am sure ya'll have seen these ultra modern, aluminum, stainless, inlaid woods and such that are as pristine as an operating room. Well if it doesn't have just a little clutter and some stains where some powder, oil, Hoppes # 9 and such have been spilled, I look at it and yawn!!! I would keep it in good running order and pass it along to your son, grandson, nephew or some kid that may appreciate it.

  34. I’m armed and trained; but I don’t think I could have saved either of those victims. I don’t have the protections I had as a Police Officer. I absolutely would have had no issue with getting involved to save someone, but by the time I would have been sure of what I was seeing; he would have been shooting.

  36.   Yes, I watched the video and the perceived distance between the shooter and victims in the first frames is questionable. The reality was unless the shooter was flashing a light or mirrored object at the three victims they wouldn't have noticed it. I've been around enough TV reporter and crew to know that pretty much none of them would have noticed someone outside of their direct line of sight in the same circumstances. It was a human interest story in a perceived safe area where they were unaware of their stalker. Most likely as not the female reporter who tried to run for her life had already been shot several times before fight/flight kicked in. What she and her cameraman were, were very young people who never thought what happened to them was ever going to happen to them.

  39. Cordless is the one you buy AFTER you already own a regular corded model. You buy it because you already know how useful a dremel is, but cords are a drag. Remember when phones needed them? Wasn't that during Hitlers size to power? Need I say more?   So cords are a drag and you buy yourself the handier battery powered model for convenience. Then 6 years later you find it while cleaning out junk for goodwill and realize you've grabbed your reliable corded model EVERYTIME you've needed a dremel for the past 6 years. Infuriated you decide things are going to change, you work hard for your money and you'll be damned if you'll just sit there and waste it.   Now, to find the batteries.   Now to realize they're shot after 6 years of sitting, go to buy replacements, realize dremel hasn't made that model or therefore batteries for it in 3 years.   Invariably at this time the salesman who informs you of this will misread your grim, stoic silence as an invitation to try to sell you on they're latest and greatest cordless model* while all you really want to do is count the ways you could have spent that money on something worth a damn, like say 75 candy bars, or maybe 73 candy bars and a pepsi.   So unless you like wasting time and money, just buy the corded model.       *Heres an honest version of the pitch. "Heres the new cordless version sir. It may not be faster or as powerful."   You'll be waiting around for a solid 3 minutes before you release thats it, thats the pitch.

  43. Bill and Hillary are at a Yankees home game, sitting in the first row, with the Secret Service people directly behind them. One of the Secret Service guys leans forward and whispers something to Bill. At first, Clinton stares at the guy, looks at Hillary, looks back at the agent, and shakes his head "no". The agent then says, "Mr. President, it was a unanimous request of the entire team, from the owner of the team to the bat boy." Bill hesitates...but begins to change his mind when the agent tells him the fans would love it! Bill shrugs his shoulders and says, "Ho-Kay! If that is what the people want. C'mere Hilly baby..." With that, Bill gets up, grabs Hillary by her collar and the seat of her pants, lifts her up, and tosses her right over the wall onto the field. She gets up kicking, swearing, screaming, "Bill you "!$#@&!". The crowd goes absolutely wild. Fans are jumping up & down, cheering, hooting and hollering, and high-fiving. Bill is bowing, smiling and waving to the crowd. He leans over to the agent and says, "How about that; I would have never believed how much everyone would enjoy that!" Noticing the agent has gone totally pale, he asks what is wrong. The agent replies, "Sir, I said they want you to throw out the  first 'pitch' ".
