Wish folks would be just as angry about the 2nd getting stepped on as much as they complain about the lack of ammo.7 points

I pretty much agree with what you wrote. I think that the political forum should be kept for those who wish to participate. I stay out of it by my choice and I like it that way. What bothers the crap out of me is when certain members want to inject their political comments into other topics. The latest example is in the SARS-COVID thread. If a member wants to repeatedly bash the president for real or imagined affronts to their delicate senses then do it in the political forum where it belongs. I don't want to see it any more than I would want to see a naked 100-year old.7 points

David, upon further reflection, I guess if I was in your position and felt the responsibility that you have taken on.....I might see it exactly as you have described. If this was my show I wouldn't want a s**tstorm either. Thanks for doing all that you do for us. It's got to be an immense amount of work.5 points

It's way past time to worry about being on a list. I'm sure I'm on every list there is. I inundate all of our representatives from local, state and federal with letters and emails. I have sent hundreds over the last few years. I'm not happy with any them. Once you become afraid to speak out you've already lost.4 points

While I do find them intriguing, I have no reason to put that sort of money into a vehicle, unless it is an investment grade antique. I’ll wait for you guys to wear them out. Then I might pick one up.4 points

Honestly though, I have found out that a forum without an antagonist or two can get quite dull.4 points

Yeah. Since this is David's forum, in a way, it is also a reflection of David. He definitely has a vested interest in moderating the content. We who participate are not the only folks viewing this forum. I'd go so far as to say the content here can represent most all gun owners.4 points
-
Good luck with that. Theres at least one member here thats blames EVERYTHING that's not went right in the last 4 years on the current POTUS. It winds up being like a snail trail from thread to thread. You can see how TDS was imagined up lol.4 points

Dude, you’re already on a list. Along with everyone who’s bought a gun on a 4473 or posted here or any other gun form.3 points

I would not want David's job/responsibility of trying to keep all of the " kids" straight and in our separate corners so to speak when some don't agree on things. Everyone gets a little bit big for their britches at times, and it's usually "dad" or an uncle (the mods) that has to slap someone on the back of the head and tell 'em to shut up and be quiet. TGO is a good place to visit, thanks to all the people who make it so.3 points

Theres no money for the pharmaceutical lobbiests to make selling Ivermectin OR Hydroxychloraquine, hence why you will not hear about. ... But an unproven methodology and totally novel vaccine is trumpeted from every mountain top, isn't it? Remember when they were pushing remdisivr on us and saying theres no proof vitamin D works? Ahhh, good times!3 points

It’s pretty clear they are not interested in comments. Only 18 days to submit and during the holiday season. What a joke.3 points

Since we have moved from frivolity and enjoyment of a good laugh, to the more practical and serious side of things; ill opine about " Censorship " and " Correction "... I get the idea that we are in David's House. Some of us even pay a fee to be here. This aint " Stormfront " nor whatever the most hateful lefty forum is... it's " Tennessee Gun Owners "... A lovely place of conversation for most folk of good will who like, collect, n shoot firearms...; and there are certain proprieties we observe here for both David and us " children " here on the forum; as well as a need for the projection of certain optics for those on the outside lookin in. The most lovely place i can think of is a home. A home has responsible " parents ". Parents correct the rowdy n adjust the attitudes of the disruptive from time to time. That is simply the nature of the family thing. Havin said that; I think from time to time, that we are a bit too " squeeky clean ", but that's just me. But, on balance, as the great " Pappy Menolaius O'Daniel quipped: " Its a well run machine "... Thanks to " all y'all " who run it from a former malefactor and rabid libertarian. That is all... misdemeanerin leroy...3 points

This is the way it's done here to keep the site appealing to the most people. When I drive past a landfill I don't think, "OH BOY! I WANT TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME HERE!" and neither do most sane people. I roll up my windows, hit the recirculation button on my truck's A/C and hope I don't get saturated with stench. If you have ever spent any time on a forum where they don't moderate things as evenly as we try to here, it's like hanging out in a pile of weeks old rotten food, dirty diapers and other refuse. You need a shower after spending 5-10 minutes amongst it. This shouldn't mystify you.3 points

Had to buy 2 tires for the truck yesterday. The place I use is in Harriman. He had 9 plastic pails filled with assorted used tire weights. They used to have a guy that came around but they haven't seen him in a while. Offered to sell me some. I'm not casting ... yet, but I know some Knox area guys are. PM me and I'll give you the location.2 points

I feel the same way about this as i feel about BLM or KKK rallies. I disagree with the principals but I have to defend the right to hold those principles. I detest price gouging, but i'm a huge fan of the Free Market Economy & capitalism & I cannot see any criminal activity in CTDs actions. Immoral? Possibly. Unethical? Probably. Unconscionable choices? Absolutely. Illegal? HELL no. This is just a case of capitalism working as it should. Don't like the price? Don't buy. Don't like CTD? Walk away, berate them online & complain. I hate them, i'll never deal with them, i'll never give them another penny, but at the same time, i do not for one second believe they've done a single thing that warrants litigation.2 points

Here my Rossi m92 I mentioned earlier, that my dad engaged the reciever. I did replace the wood with Precision Gun Works wood. It's my kids favorite shooting gun, not to mention mine! It's as great as a tactical/shtf gun as it is a great wall hanger.2 points

I would purchase a LC9S if I could find one, however I have gone to the SW MP 9 C with the 4" brl and 15 round mags. I have 2 of these MPs. Really like them and the trigger is great on them. The more I shoot the better each gun gets. First one I purchased has never failed to shoot and the second one had 3 FTE until I took it apart and cleaned and lubed it real good. I have around 200 more rounds through the second one and have had no failures since cleaning. I got 600 rounds through the first purchased MP 9. With ammo shortage, I have slacked off on firing a lot of rounds. I can carry either gun in OWB in a belt slide Aherns holster with athumb strap, or IWB in a Crossbread holster. I would pocket carry the LC9 S.2 points

That's no different that Obama's 8 years. I'm sure you remember. We had folks crying because he saluted the Marine while boarding air force one and others upset because he was photographed with his feat on the desk in the oval office. That stuff goes both ways. As for the politics section, I've not seen David say it's going away. My understanding is that they will just move some threads to the other section if they get too wild.2 points

I didn't see the comment that you are referring to, and I form this comment based on what you wrote, but not understanding someone is not the same thing as saying that you have no right to be here.2 points

The thought that they aren’t making ammunition or that they are storing it in secret warehouses is ridiculous. I constantly see people ask why they simply add more machines? Because they can’t justify the cost. When the latest “drama” in the firearms/ammo market is over, those machines would be sitting idle. I was reading the other day where part of Smith & Wesson was shut down due to employees with Covid. That takes a toll on production, because most of those jobs are skilled trades with specialized training. They can’t just go hire people off the street and have them hit the ground running. My wife works in the food industry. They usually are slow the first of the year and allow employees to take a bunch of time off if they want it. Not this year. They have been working overtime like crazy and it will continue for the foreseeable future. They too have been hit hard by Covid.2 points

I'm here in need of help from the TGO Community. Some are going to have no idea what I'm talking about but hopefully you can gain some knowledge of this missing part of my life I'm looking for a restaurant in middle Tennessee that has a Indiana Tenderloin Sandwich. For those who are lost an Indiana Tenderloin Sandwich is a paper thin breaded tenderloin the size of a dinner plate on a much smaller bun. My dad's family is from Southern Indiana so I have had a many of them but have lost the urge over the years to drive up there for one (which I have done). The last one I found was at the old truck stop in Westmoreland years ago. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.1 point

What stinks is that I don't want to shoot the ammo I do have. I've only been once in 2020. I'm in conservation mode for now.1 point

You seriously want to put in black and white so your wife knows how much you really spent on that new acquisition? The other day I had my pistol laying on the dining table and my wife said I have never seen that pistol to which I honestly replied "honey that is the one I have been carrying". That was a true statement, I just didn't say how long I had been carrying it. Plausible deniability.1 point

I hope David or none of the administrators or mods take this the wrong way; I’m not questioning anyone’s authority or trying to tell anyone how to do anything. I truly enjoy this forum and have been here since the beginning. Yes, I’ve had my bumps in the road and have had to adjust a few times. I am a former cop and I really have to watch what I say on that subject. I am involved in the day to day guns topics, and I have shared my experiences and tried to help others with their gun issues when I can. But many of us involved with firearms and firearms collecting take politics and freedoms as seriously as we take our 2nd amendment issues. When the politics forum was shut down for awhile I had to go to other forums if I wanted to discuss those issues. I would have rather done that right here with local people that I have come to know. I suspect participation here dropped off, but that’s just a guess; I don’t know that. It doesn’t appear to me we have the participation now we had a few years ago. I think many here, like me right now, many be hesitant to speak out on this issue. The “I don’t like the politics section” folks speak out more than we do; but I think they are a very small minority. But our country is sharply divided, more so than I have ever seen it, right down the middle. It’s on our minds everyday and we want to discuss it. I just don’t understand why they complain. The political discussions feeds aren’t even shown in the “Unread Topics”. We are isolated. So if someone is in one of those threads; they had to seek them out intentionally. I don’t get it… if you are going to get upset and disturbed talking about Trump… don’t click on that thread. If you are upset with me because I support him; we are half the population. Discussion, debate, or argument; its just information, do with it what you will. Again…I feel like I’m walking on thin ice here; but I believe most folks here would rather have their discussions here; whether that be about their latest gun acquisition or the current state of politics. Thanks, Dave1 point

Hydroelectricity is great. However, like wind and solar, you need specific conditions for it to be workable - i.e. rivers that can be dammed at a cost that makes sense. Not all river terrains can be dammed, some are cost prohibitive, and some areas have no suitable rivers. You run into the same types of problems with wind and solar, even more so with tidal and geothermal sources of energy. Coal and NG plants can be constructed cheaply, pretty much anywhere, and both materials are found abundantly across the globe. With nuclear plants, costs and safety concerns are problems (and many of the regulations and restrictions artificially imposed in the US), along with disposal of waste concerns. While lots of innovations and progress has been made in other sources of energy, I don't see coal and NG disappearing for a long time ...1 point

GAG has gone to MSRP in the last week or so. This is just a plain 6” S&W 686 (164224) that I was tracking new price on, while trying to find something used. 01/20/20 $664.99 05/25/20 $703.99 +5.86% 7/10/20 $707.99 +6.47% 11/05/20 $729.99 +9.77% 11/29/20 $789.99 +18.80% 12/15/20 $853.00 +28.27% Since January S&W raised the MSRP $20 or 2.4% (that happened in the last couple of weeks). During that same time GAG has increased the price $188 or 28.27% I’m not picking on GAG; they are the main one I was tracking, as they have had the best prices until now. Most reputable places don’t mess with the price if they don’t have the gun in stock. Some less reputable places list a much lower price when they don’t have them, and then raise it when they do. Some don’t list a price if they don’t have the gun. Maybe GAG has decided to list MSRP on guns they don’t have and will price them accordingly when they available; I don’t know.1 point
