  1. Never done it before, but this year I actually limited out on bucks! The first (pics 3 & 4) is the heaviest deer I've ever killed. I butchered him & scaled 91½lb of cleaned, trimmed meat! The second (first 2 pics) is by far and away the best buck I've ever had a shot at. I had him under 30yds & around me for over 30 minutes (left my damn glasses in the truck...) before I figured out he was better than the average 6 point I thought he was! I'm hoping to get one more doe, just as meat insurance & to justify the new freezer I bought yesterday..... Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

  2. Sometimes the truth hurts. I spent the better part of my adult life carrying ARs for work. I would, without a doubt, grab an AK before an AR when lives are on the line. I will say I never really had any real problems with ARs but after watching how Afghans clean their AKs I realized cleanliness and lubrication are not required for an AK to work. If you told an Afghan to clean an AR it would probably malfunction the first shot, not so with an AK.

  6. There has been some discussion in the past regarding need for a "backup" membership or insurance to help with legal issue that would or might result in a self defense shooting. I hope I am not out of line to bring it up again. I have been thinking about it (Mainly due to inputs from USCCA thru their E Mail solicitations which I started). A nuisance at times, but do give a lot of information (education and training -- FREE EMails and links). That said, I have done some recent research (still have not decided to go forward on joining or paying a fee). MY MAIN CONCERNS and Questions: Reallize there is not a big chance ever need, but I would like to be able to afford the cost of a defense and to have someone to contact immediately after an incident if involved in one. Wondering if anyone has such membership or insurance and have heard of any incidences? Also, any Lawyers here that would make an educated comment? Share some of the information here that I recently obtained. I have been thinking about this situation for some time (mainly as a result of having contacted USCCA). Their web site and information is. https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/ One link shows cost and sometimes offer bonus (over valued bonus). https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/membership/?id=3steps&sid=Homepage&kmi= You can search around and see some videos they present as situations that have happened (True or False) I have seen a number of providers. So, here are some sources of info on this topic, it is a lot to filter thru. https://www.usacarry.com/about-usa-carry.html https://www.nracarryguard.com/training/rights-responsibilities/ https://armedcitizensnetwork.org/ https://d3rmvquxnxa9wt.cloudfront.net/pdf/guides/USCCA_CarryGuard_ComparisonChart.pdf I presently think this might be the best of them all considering their detailed web site presentation and the yearly cost. That said, I have not a clue as to their performance in an event or if they ever have had a situation. https://ccwsafe.com/ Backed by this Insurance Company. https://www.2ainsurance.com/

  9. Well I don't know how big the one was you got last year and I hope you reach your goal. My goal has been alot different. I would guess I have probably killed 100+ deer over my lifetime and as long as it was legal to shoot it went in the freezer and I never put a mount on my wall even though over the years I have taken about four 12 pointers and two 14 pointers back years ago while I lived on my Grandfathers Farm/Ranch. I think I can probably find the racks. I think they are down stored in one of my sons buildings. I always thought one day I would make something out of them but the years have slipped by to fast I guess. My Grand father told me if I was hunting for Antlers I need to go to Alaska. If I am looking for meat for the freezer take 4 points or less and let the big ones walk and that is what I have done since he told me that. If I had a 4 point and a spike come along together I would take the spike. I have 1 small buck in the freezer right now and I'm hoping for a couple does for it now. My son and Grandson said they could probably get me 1 more doe. They said those poachers screwed up their season this year.

  10. Very nice, congratulations! I have yet to kill anything but time. I made up my mind way before season that I wouldn’t take a buck unless it was bigger than last years. Hard to do, trust me, but I’ve stuck to it. Very happy for your harvests!

  11. Nice, congrats! Only seen one buck on my property that nice, but that was years ago, sure he's gone by now. Most this year have been smaller racked ones, 6 or more points but small based.

  16. All I go for is a group the size of my fist in the upper thoracic if it's for combat accuracy. That's when I want speed and accuracy to mesh. Dave Spaulding suggests something along those lines if an ideal shot group in a shooting. For accuracy and speed, I run drills that use 3x5 cards or smaller target zones but I still shoot with a combat mindset. I think the problem for many people is one they don't train, practice, or dry practice. Shooting is just punching holes in paper. Anything I try to do outside of trap is combat related. That's my two cents. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

  17. I will admit I don't target shoot. Every time i go to the range I train on combat accuracy with both pistol and rifle. Do I admire people who can punch a 10 ring on every shot, sure but if the time ever comes I don't think that's the training you need to defend yourself.

  20. I have been in shootings and have shot in competition. I keep the two separate. I use point instinct (no sights) for practicing defensive shooting. Sights are for competition shooting. You really can’t prepare yourself for what will probably be the biggest adrenaline rush of your life when a gunman is trying to kill you; but you can make sure your training kicks in. If you train getting a sight picture; that is what you will do. If you fire point instinct; that is what you will do. It may be in the dark with a man raising his gun at you. Getting a sight picture could cost you your life. It appears to me the shooter in that video is using his sights for everything and just speeding up and slowing down his rate of fire.

  21. When you purchase two or more handguns within a period of 5 business days the dealer must fill out a "Multiple Purchase" form and fax it to BATFE within 24 hours. The dealer also has to send a copy to the chief law enforcement in your city or county.

  25. Folks, please be careful buying knives on Amazon, throughly check out the store that you buy from as a professional knife sharpener I have seen at least 5 knives sold from Amazon that were fake, I have let several companies know about this they all say if a price is too good to be true, it is because they are fakes it is always best to buy from a dealer like myself who will have your back and NEVER sell something That is not the real deal

  28. Do you want a waist bag, shoulder strap or back pack? What do you want to carry? At $200 that “active shooter bag” better come packed with Pmags and medical supplies.

  29. Are you trying to say that he must have tried every one of the cases to know about the details? That doesn't sound logical. Research Andrew Branca. He is a consultant attorney that has spent his professional life on this stuff. He is referred to by USCCA, a lot of gun talk programs, etc. He gave a live Level 1 & 2 class at the Nashville Armory, which is how I heard of him. For pete's sake, don't just try to disparage something, without doing at least a google.

  30. Two things: 1) I haven't had to use it, but I have NRA Carry Guard (currently.) I will change to USCCA because I found out that Carry Guard only advances a small amount toward your defense. They don't pay, if you are not acquitted, so no shot at accepting a lesser charge (see #2.) Carry Guard, and others don't pay for non-lethal defense like pepper spray, which is a good idea to have (see #2,) or taser. You can rely on USCCA, or Carry Guard or other insurer for a lawyer referral, but I think USCCA is better than Carry Guard in this, too. 2) I am really happy to have bought "The Law of Self Defense" 3rd Edition. It's only $9.99 on Kindle. I also bought the DVDs. The author does a great job of explaining the 5 elements of a self defense case. He also does a great job of what to say to which parties. You would say only so much to 911, only exculpatory things on scene and almost nothing to detectives (without an attorney,) and why. The 3rd Edition book lists case and jury instructions for each state. And, a level 2 dvd can be purchased for each state. Branca lists some and talks about other cases where the prosecution, judge or other was just out to get someone. He talks about the fact that everything can go right, and you may still be convicted (it has happened.) I have become much more aware of the need to make sure I am prepared in every way .... from attending IDPA matches to staying up to date with legal cases thru Branca's web presence. Do yourself a huge favor, and research "The Law of Self Defense."

  32. Congrats! Now go out back and drag it through a mud hole, then sort-of spray it with the garden hose. That's the proper way to clean them.
