  1. The Robert Johnson story is that he was a struggling young guitar player who suddenly developed tremendous technical skills, and the word spread that he had sold his soul to the devil in exchange for his guitar playing ability. He was rumored to have met the devil at a Mississippi crossroads at midnight to transact the deal. A couple of his songs supposedly support this story -- "Crossroad Blues" and "Me and the Devil Blues." This incident is also described in the film "Oh Brother Where Art Thou." Cheers, Whisper

  3. I loved the scene where the Davis Richards character goes off on his rant regarding NIJ standards. You just know that was lifted directly from conversations had between Ross and Davis.

  6. I was aware of her music growing up. I became a lifelong fan thanks to Jake and Elwood. 1985 in my case. Don't know her particular religious flavor, but I hope there is another member of the heavenly choir tonight.

The video depicts two Pennsylvania State Troopers, Ryan Seiple and Seth Kelly, attempting to arrest 22-year-old Daniel K. Clary. The incident took place last year on November 7, 2017, and Clary was convicted in June of attempted murder of two police officers. “The troopers were in a knock-down, drag-out fight along the side of the road with vehicles speeding by them, and it got very, very violent,” State Police Captain Richard D’Ambrosio told Fox29 after viewing the video of the altercation. The video above begins after Seiple had already cited Clary for speeding, according to The Morning Call. Seiple began to suspect that Clary had been driving under the influence, and he asked the suspect to step out of the vehicle after Kelly arrived on the scene. Clary begins to resist when Seiple and Kelly try to place him under arrest, and the subsequent fight lasts one minute and six seconds as cars speed past along Pennsylvania’s busy Route 33. Seiple and Kelly both try to subdue Clary with Tasers and blows to the head, but the man continues to struggle. Seiple used his Taser on Clary twice and punched him five times, according to The Morning Call. Kelly tasered Clary five times, threw nine punches and kneed him once. Clary tries to grab the officers’ weapons throughout the course of the fight, and he eventually breaks free, runs to his car, and grabs a revolver. He fires six rounds, hitting Kelly in the neck, shoulder, and leg, according to Capt. D’Ambrosio. Seiple continues firing at Clary’s car, but the suspect soon drives away. In total, Kelly fired 21 rounds and Seiple fired 20, according to The Morning Call. SEE ALSO: WATCH: Suspects, Police Exchange Over 60 Rounds in Insane Shootout Authorities said Kelly likely saved his own life by applying a tourniquet to his severed femoral artery. He remained in the hospital 25 days, 12 of which in a medically induced coma, according to LehighValley.com. He arrived at the hospital clinically dead, but medical personnel were able to revive him. Clary drove himself to the hospital and was treated for multiple injuries, including a bullet lodged in his head. He was convicted of multiple felonies and faces decades in prison. Northampton County First Deputy District Attorney Terence Houck told The Morning Call he waited to release the dashcam footage until getting permission from Seiple and Kelly. “Our concerns have always been the victims, the state troopers in this matter, protecting them,” Houck told the newspaper. “But after speaking with them, they wanted it released, as did I.”

  10. I agree. I never knew she sang "The Weight" but just got through listening to it. I went into it thinking it couldn't be as good as the band. Not bad but IMO it's not even close. I might not be the best judge on this because I loved The Band and The Weight was my favorite.

  14. I like your comments. I had to find that particular version and listen again. I'm sure I've heard it before, but didn't place it immediately. But I'm a diehard fan of The Band in all their many incarnations. lol The Weight is just, for me, "Owned" by The Band. JMO For me, it just doesn't get any better than Robbie Robertson and Levon Helm. Truthfully, I probably like Levon more than any other band members. I was torn up seeing how he looked in Shooter, and teared up badly on the news of his passing. Not dissing Aretha Franklin at all. She was a lady of huge talent. No question of that at all. But I really think of her in The Blues Brothers with Think. That just is classic Aretha.

  16. Rich Davis (founder and developer of Second Chance) was a larger than life individual and near evangelical in his desire to get workable, and wearable, body armor into the hands of LEO's. Those videos are remarkable indeed. Trivia: Rich Davis was friends with John Ross and is quite obviously mentioned as "Davis Richards" in Ross's Book "Unintended Consequences".

  18. RIP Aretha. Her voice and attitude spans generations and always will. Little bit of trivia for you: Elvis also died on an August 16th. So did Robert Johnson, if you’re really into music and know who that is.

  19. Be mercenary and use it to your advantage. Ain't nothing better than to interact with a millennial and not get the stereo-typical millennial experience. I became a 50 year old Gen Xer this year and here is the scary thing I see and think about: I see millennial parents, yikes. I am a remote sales person who travels the state. I see parents with their kids, from millennials on down in all social settings...doesn't make me an expert on anything, but it does make me shake my head from time to time. I think about how millennials learn social skills. Like all children, from their parents Add technology to reduce the need for traditional interaction and conversation thus further retarding the development of social skills, the kid at the store can barely speak or even make eye contact.
