  1. Erich, it's hard not to slip. I wrote out my shopping list for this afternoon's trip...and found myself mentally planning the route that would end at the nearby WM. I stopped and looked at my list and thought just how ingrained a site, a store, anything can become. It will take a conscious effort from me, but I sure will try. Now where am I going to get those high sugar donuts that I crave so much?
  2. May sound silly...but my WW purchases are usually centered around the magazine section and the sale dvds. They have consistently been the best local place for me to get The Official John Wayne Magazine for my wife. That and the cheap 3 buck dvds that sometimes have a gem of some sort in the piles. Oh, and the Tropical Mango Gatorade. Hard to find flavor that I'm addicted to. lol Yeah, I was telling my wife that I could live without Walmart. That I hated to be a one issue person, but it mattered a lot to me. Her response was something along the lines of "You can stop going, but it won't make a difference. You're just a little guy and they are a huge corporate entity. They won't miss you at all." That may be true, I said. But it's a matter of principal for me. I can't willingly support an organization that goes against my position. Others will, I think, feel the same. It may or may not be a Dick's sort of catastrophy, but it will show the world that the little guys can have an effect. The worst part...where will the newbies make their first cc walk? The WW walk has been a milestone in the introduction to concealed carry. I'm gonna miss telling someone to do it.
  3. Congrats on your purchase, and having the wisdom to get a 1911! RIA pistols have been getting better and better over the last decade. From a bottom-of-the-barrel product...they have become a staple in the 1911 market. From entry level models like the GI, to the Ultras and other decked out models, they are fine pistols. I've owned several Rocks, both 45 and 9mm. All have functioned well and are far capable of surpassing my meager shooting abilities. Plus, they are just darn fun to shoot! PS...you will be buying more 1911s. I can guarantee it. lol
  4. Can't be. She's not that smart. She married me.
  5. Not that. She never does anything on line outside of her work office. And their system bans ANYTHING even remotely firearms related, or that is deemed non-work related. So I'm safe there. lol
  6. My thanks to you, DaveTn and Garufa. I hadn't thought of that.
  7. What do you think the "pistol"? leaning on the rear fender is? Is it in a boot? Almost looks like a form of a stock.
  8. I received a fund raising call from a solicitor for the NRA this week. The young man started rattling off all the benefits of my membership and how the NRA was the only organization fighting for me. When I told him I wouldn't be making a donation, he said I was just giving up my Freedom and my 2nd Amendment rights by not donating. After all, the NRA was the only group fighting for me. I stopped him right there, telling him he was incorrect on that point. "Well who else will stand up for you?" he asked. I mentioned the GOA, NAGR, TFA, CCOA, and the local groups involved at lower levels. He had no reply to that evidently on his script. But he did ask why I wasn't sending money. I mentioned the controversy over La Pierre and his extravagant lifestyle, the questionable amount of payments to the PR firm, the salaries of his and the other VP's, the infighting among the board and officers, the ousting of Cox and North, and ended with the rumors of a home bought form him with NRA funds(don't know much about this, just have seen some comments of FB and some internet pop-up "news" articles. I also told him that I felt the only way I would give again would be after Wayne Lapierre had resigned and a new Board was put in place. I just couldn't trust that any of them were doing more than lining their pockets with my/our money. The young man thanked me for my comments and hung up. It is so sad to see a one mighty protector of our Rights get to a state like this. I guess it's still true...Power corrupts. Absolute(or almost in this case) corrupts absolutely.
  9. Yeah, me too. I owned a 26 for a while and just couldn't like it enough to keep. Picked up a 43x and really like it.
  10. I think this is the same LST that was in Nashville a few years ago. My wife and I toured it, then the next day, I took my late Father-in-law on the tour. It was a great tour both times. I'd recommend it to anyone.
  11. Congratulations on the score! And more importantly, the dedication and hard work to re-train yourself.
  12. WOW! Very nice. Left side of the #2 knife has a gorgeous tight pattern. Not that both sides aren't awesome, but I really liked that pattern.
  13. I have to say that is one fine looking piece of craftsmanship. I haven't in the past liked the grip feel in my tiny little baby hands, so I've passed the 509 by. However your comments have me wanting to look more closely at one. Can't buy now, but looking can't hurt. Can it? lol
  14. I pray for her, you, and your family at his horrible time. May God Bless and hold you in his hands.
  15. I feel your loss here. Sadly, I have been in the middle of such a situation several times with different parts of my family. Seems that the vultures just come out at the first hint of grabbing something for themselves.
  16. Not in your league, but I bought a 10/22 that Dolo had built. Makes me look like I know what I'm doing. Off the bench, I shot a dime sized 3 round group at 100 yards. Best I've ever done. I credit that to the rifle and the builder. Yes, Dolo used a Green Mountain Bull barrel on it. It's my favorite suppressed 22 ever.
  17. 1911alltheway did a leather holster for my Shield with the integrated laser. It looks great and the fit is perfect. Need to get some money ahead and get a few more done. At least for a 9 and a 45 1911.
  18. Caught my eye as well. Tempted.
  19. I can't comment on that. Too old. too tired. Too broke. Too married with wife who can shoot.
  20. I surely don't know, but that is a good question to have answered.
  21. Only according to the Left. lol Have to admit though, Biden can be quite entertaining.

    Catch 22

Book is better. lol More detail.
  23. But who needs bottle openers any more? lol
  24. Ok...this comment is a bit out of place here. At least in the specific topic I want to address. One of my, and other's, fear is of the disgruntled neighbor, wife, or other family member. A single bit of hate, and I think that will be the driving force more than fear; will likely be the cause of a confiscation of weapons under the "RED FLAG" laws. For me personally, it's the irate neighbor that causes me concern. We are the lone conservative in our immediate neighborhood. Most are moderate and quiet in their comments, but several are, by my standards anyway, wildly left-leaning and seem to salivate at the thought of taking any action against anyone disagreeing with their own ideology. We have on this street MADD, Moms Demand Action, LBGQT supporters, vehement Bernie supporters, and a few who still scream that Hillary was robbed. We/I became friendly with a couple of them after moving in, and I even took one shooting with me. That didn't seem to make him any more likeable, nor has he ever asked to go again. His FB postings are full of Trump hate and all that goes with it. I have chosen to keep all but a passing "Hello" distance from him. So this guy reaches out and tells LEO that he fears that a neighbor has weapons and might be unstable. Where does that leave me/us? Red Flag laws are a quagmire. Some good from them, but the potential for massive misuse is there. And that worries me.
  25. Thanks. That's been my method for quite a few years for personal inventory, but I must admit I have been a bit lax lately in keeping up with it. A few sales, trades, and acquisitions behind. Even deals here, I try to note who and when I deal with. Not necessarily name and address. More like screen name and date of deal with some details for my poor memory. Although I've bought far more here than I've sold here, I believe it to be a good practice.
