Had a doc's appointement this morning at Skyline and went across the street to Walmart afterwards, just hoping a I might get lucky and find some 22 there. No luck of course, but I was close and thought I'd try. But while I was there, the young man beside me started a conversation. Asking what I was looking for. I didn't think too much about it and said I was looking for some 22, maybe even some 9 or 45. He then proceded to tell me he was looking as well, hoping to find some more for the weekend. Going shooting? No. He's looking for it to resell. Well....after a few seconds looking into his eyes I asked if he was going to take it to Hendersonville this weekend. Yes, he says. So I believe I stunned him then. I looked him right in the eyes and said "So you're the reason the rest of us can't find anything. You're buying it and feeding this mess by trying to make a profit from it He looked shocked that I'd said that. So I continued. "You will be selling it at Hendersonville tomorrow?" He said yes rather quietly. I said thanks. "I'll be sure and tell my buddies to avoid you."" Over reaction? I don't think so. If I can resist trying to resell mags at inflated prices, or jack up rifle prices about retail and beyond; I'm not ashamed to say that I'm offended by someone doing that with ammo to me and others. So if you see a early 20-something young man abou t5'10" and puxhing 300 lbs' stop in and give him your money. Or your thanks.13 points

Before Christmas, my wife and I were in a local jewelry/cosmetics store. The conversation behind the counter? "Gun control is not the answer." I was the only man in the place, and I didn't bring it up...6 points

Overreaction? Yes. It's the free market. Supply and demand. If people didn't think it was worth the markup they wouldn't pay it, leaving him holding the bag. Since people are paying it, it's obviously worth whatever he is asking. Unless of course you prefer a planned economy? If so, there are plenty of Socialists out there who can help you with that. ;)5 points

This weekend, I'd send you to the Hendersonville Gun Show. Look for a sign at a booth that says "Reloading Supplies", and a great big fella underneath it.4 points

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/01/16/andrea-mitchell-argues-govt-can-infringe-upon-americans-inalienable-rights-hear-pro-gun-advocates-epic-response/ The claim may seem outrageous, but here’s how Mitchell defended her stance after her guest claimed the Obama administration can’t infringe upon Americans’ inalienable rights: “Well, they can be infringed, because the First Amendment is infringed, I have to obey all sorts of regulations from the FCC, there are things we can’t say in a crowded theater, so every right also carries with it responsibilities and obligations.†In response, Eric Pratt, of Gun Owners for America, provided a well thought out analogy that seemingly dismantled Mitchell’s argument. “What’s interesting about that, though, is we don’t gag people before they go into the theater, we punish the lawbreakers,†he said. “And in the same way, we would argue punish those who abuse the right, but don’t gag law-abiding citizens before they exercise their right. We shouldn’t be registering them like sex offenders, like they are in New York. We shouldn’t be in any way impeding them if they have not committed a crime.â€4 points

We need to get the word out. One thing the antis have that we do not is a comprehension and use of social media. They use social media regularly to get the word out while there are a lot of us who do not use things like Facebook, twitter or other forms of social media. That is also the sole reason why we failed to elect Romney. If we could offer and get more like mided individuals using socail media it will help us immensely. It will help now as well as in 2016, which will be a huge accomplishment if we win that election. I have often said we need to take the plays from the antis playbook and social media is one of the better plays they have. We also need to be more vocal through calling friends, family or engaging complete strangers to explain to them why we are the winning team. A person who is sitting on the fence will choose to be on the winning team and if they think we are it then they will side with us. Those who are diehard antis are not fence sitters and no amount of logic is going to sway them. But for the fence sitters I think we can make a huge impact on which way they will vote by being more vocal. Dolomite4 points

This is Boba. He was a rescue. Forgive the cliche but he really IS a junkyard dog. He came from a nearby wrecking yard. That group of Aholes lost their lease and were going to kill him and throw him in a hole where they were burying trash. He came to me, I've had him ever since. They used to kick him and be mean to him. When I found him, the chain he was on weighed more than he did. 12 mos old and weighed around 30lbs. Well Aholes, If you guys ever wanna kick him again, I'll let you. I'll go in the house and promise NOT to get involved. Go in his pen and kick him now! Later that afternoon, I'll get a mop and clean up what's left of you. People who abuse dogs deserve a slow death. It took time, but we come to an understanding. That understanding grew to the best friend I got. I swear, he'd jump off a cliff if I ask him to. I once snapped my fingers and told him to jump into the middle of a pile of tires. I was just screwing around and would have never thought he'd actually do it. He bailed off in the middle of them and busted his ass. I felt really bad, he got a couple McDoubles from McDonald's and I doubt he holds it against me. He's never mentioned it. Anyway....Here's my buddy. 80lbs of faithful retard. I no like you pinch a da cheeks!2 points

Think real hard about small-of-back carry. It's not nearly as accessible, secure, or concealable as you think. It also really, really hurts if you fall on it.... AMHIK. If that's the only spot you've got room in your pants for the gun, I'd strongly recommend you consider larger pants or OWB. That said, I have crossbreed and a galco that work pretty well.2 points

For anyone considering a Weimaraner they go from this at 8 weeks to this at 6 months to this at one year And yes he's spoiled. In all seriousness though, too many people get this breed just based on how cute they look as a puppy with their blue eyes and all and don't stop to consider that this a breed that will positively own you if you don't take the time to train and exercise them. Please adopt responsibly. Too many Weims abandoned as it is.2 points

No, that's a lot of bull from people who have never been in a self-defense shooting. Remain armed until the police get there and have control of the situation. Do you want to be unarmed if the person you just defended yourself against has friends, family, accomplices nearby who are unhappy about you doing what you just did? Nope. Remain armed. Disarm when instructed by the police. Edited to add: I often see comments from folks saying they're not going to throw their nice Nighthawk 1911 or whatever on the ground when the police get there because it's too nice / pretty / expensive. When the police are arriving, holster your firearm before they get out of their car. Hands up and wait for instruction. If they tell you to unholster and throw it to the ground, throw it to the ground. If they tell you to lay it on the ground slowly, do it slowly. If they tell you to tap dance and pat your belly at the same time, do that too. Bottom line being, your stupid high-end boutique firearm isn't worth you getting shot over. If it's so concerning that your gun might get scratched, don't carry it. If you think it might go off when dropped or tossed to the pavement, don't carry it. Good guns don't go off when dropped. Do whatever the nice police officers tell you to do, following their instructions to the letter, and keep your mouth shut until asked to speak. And even then limit what you say. You were in fear for your life, that guy over there in a pile is the guy who attacked you, and you'll be GLAD to cooperate with the police after your attorney is present. You are in no state of mind to say anything else without your attorney present. Period. Establish that you're the good guy, point out the bad guy, point out the knife or gun or ball bat or chain or axe or whatever he was about to attack you with, and then shut your hole.2 points

I agree fully with the observations on folks speakin up over what is goin on now; especially with regard to the guns, magazines, and ammo thing. More and more folks are waking up to what these people really want to do. People can understand what the plain reading of the second amendment says; and can compare it very quickly with what these sons of satan are proposing; and are, in fact, doin in the blue states like new york. Its the ultimate irony to me that this unholy alliance of apostate jewish eastern european demigogs like Bloomberg and the great "godfather" Rahm and their useful children in the black community would think that restricting gun ownership would be a good thing. It seems to me that i remember that black folks were mistreated with gun laws until just after the civil war (...slaves dont own guns...); and the fathers and moms of these european folks gave their guns up to a guy by the name of Adolph Hitler (...and Joe Stalin, as well...). If i wuz a member of either of those groups; it would be a cold day in hell before any stinkin politico took any of my guns and ammo; but that's just me. In my mind, its just another proof that there just may be something to "social darwinism"; as my 23 year old so artfully argues (...mostly for the sake of arguement...): ...." There must be greater and lesser human beings; more advanced and less advanced...." "Those anointed to rule and those consigned to be ruled over"...etc, etc...You get the picture. I say what they need to do is to keep stirrin this pot. I think it will bring them a bitter harvest. Lots of folks are ambivalent about taxes (...especially if they dont pay any....). Folks can understand when things are contrary to the plain language to what is purported to be the supreme law of the land. I say "...keep talkin..." dear sweet brother barak, bloomberg, coumo, wrangle and others. More and more folks are listenin and gettin mad. listenin leroy2 points

I sincerely hope and wish it so. On a similar note, I was in a local Wallyworld Tuesday and happened upon some WWB 45. As I was paying for them, a young man passing by saw them and we struck up a conversation. He was probably mid 20s and actually could string 3 words together without a F/S/MF; and was intelligently talking with me about his guns. Ended up letting him have some of the 45. It was a pleasure to see a young man not a flaming lib and intelligent enough to know the difference between his butt and Obama.2 points

Except that when the cop gets there and finds out you've got a gun on your hip, you're gonna do a face plant with a knee in your back and your gun is gonna get tossed anyway. At the very least they'll make you disarm yourself and put it on the ground, likely at gun point. Then they'll move in and cuff you. Hopefully you'll get released in short order, but I seriously doubt the cops will let you remain armed.2 points

How many of us over the last couple of years have took gold in to sell for what is essentially inflated prices. As has been stated, free market economies dictate such price swings, the market will swing one way or another and will usually settle somewhere in the middle. Back to the gold reference, most would think you crazy to sell you old gold chain from high school for close to what you paid for it in 1981, I would guess that old chain is worth several times what was paid for it then. That is not gouging, its not immoral. Because some of us did not prepare for what was inevitable and others are profiting from it is not the profiteers problem or fault it is our for not being prepared.1 point

I've been down a few whitewater rivers in rafts. The Ocoee is my favorite. Just lock your foot under the seat in front of you. Falling out is about the only danger. The rocks are somewhat hard. There should be a guide on the raft to steer you through the rapids, and usually safety boats (kayaks). You'll be pretty well padded with your helmet and vest. I've only been out of the raft once, and that was an unguided one. Went over Nantahala falls upside down (not our fault BTW). The safety boater tossed me a line, and had me out of the water pretty fast. It's a blast1 point

It lets the SCOTUS know where the states stand on an issue? That is meaningless. It certainly had no effect on declaring Obamacare constitutional even though the majority of the states were against it. If you do not support the arresting of federal agents when they have violated TN law, then you do not support this bill. Without the use of any punitive action, this bill would be meaningless. If the President enacted an AWB via executive order, that is an impeachable offense. He has no authority under the Constitution to do so. Fast and Furious was an impeachable offense. Misusing Tarp and bailout funds by sending them to your political buddies is an impeachable offense. I could go on and on listing the transgressions of Obama, and all of them are impeachable offenses. Why then hasn't he been impeached? He is protected by his cronies in the legislative branch and a sympathetic media. This political action's intent is not to turn Americans against other Americans. This is simply the people and the states exercising their Tenth Ammendment rights. This is about states declaring that they will not accept unconstitutional dictates from a tyrannical federal government, and they will protect their citizen's rights guaranteed to them under the Constitution. If anyone is the aggressor in this battle, it is clearly the federal government. Just to note, if Congress passes an unconstitutional law, the President signs it, and it is upheld by the SCOTUS because the President has packed it with activists from his side of the aisle doesn't mean the law is now constitutional. The SCOTUS are not the final arbiters of what is or what is not constitutional. That is the state's responsibility, otherwise you would have no checks and balances and the federal government could dictate how it pleases.1 point

Last time I saw a figure on this, less than 2% of armed criminals got their guns at gunshows. The overwhelming majority stole them. The others had a 'clean' friend buy them. This is registration, nothing more.1 point

I would be all for it under the condition that the government pays 100% of the fee. That is it, period. I do not think it will help much, but it does no harm to me and COULD prevent me from buying stolen gun from some shady guy at a show, or from selling one to a criminal (far less likely, but it could happen, it DID happen, guy that shot a LEO here got his at a show from a shady "private sales" dealer who was actually doing tons of xfers without ffl). There should be an inheritance variation where the beneficiary is simply checked but not all the guns by number. It will not stop thugs from selling stolen guns to each other. It will not stop gun-runners like the BAFTE who sell to crimnals, or other organized crime. But if it were free, it would protect ME from the off chance that I deal with a criminal unknowingly. If the government is unwilling to pay the fees, then the measure is not worth doing --- the money is more important to them, then its more important to me too, and I will protest it loudly.1 point

There are a couple members on here who have probably been near that number. To my knowledge, they haven't been charged. To my knowledge, there is no legally defined number. But, as Ayn Rand opined, if you make enough laws so that everybody is a criminal, you can control the population by choosing if, when and on whom you enforce.1 point
