  1. At the risk of offending someone reading this, I would suggest that the person who would buy such as "badge" as anything other than a joke is exactly the same type of person who probably shouldn't be carrying around a firearm in the first place.   I know...I know...it's his"right" and I agree that it is...it's just that sometimes I think it's a shame that having a "right" doesn't guarantee the mental capacity to exercise it properly and safely.

  2. It is a really bad idea. It only serves to embolden an idiot even more than carrying a firearm. It allows people to wrongfully intimidate or scare people. And finally I think anyone with a badge is impersonating LE.   I met a guy who had one. He said he was either going to wear it on his belt or around his neck. He said he would be able to flash his badge to prevent a crime. He also said when, not if, he had to shot someonoe he could wave his badge to responding LE so they won't shoot or arrest him. I never talked to or seen him again to see how well his plans worked out but I susoect they didn't.

  6.     You're barking at the wrong guy. I did not vote for Obama in any election. I was forced to vote for McCain and Romney to try and get a Progressive Lite Politician in the Whitehouse. I did, however, vote for Ron Paul in the primary.   But what I said still holds true. Even if you vote for another Progressive RINO Republican, is he going to protect your 2A rights more than Obama? McCain voted anti-2A in the Senate, Romney had an AWB in his own state. How much easier would it have been to sway the Republican Senators to vote Aye on the new AWB if they had a Republican president pushing for an AWB? IMHO, I think if we had McCain or Romney as president, we'd had some form of an AWB passed now since it would've had more republican support as they'd had an excuse by backing their progressive rino president.

  8. Had a similar pleasant experience late the other night in nashville. No worries from the officer when I handed both licenses over. And a warning.... hooray! And kudos to the officer for reciprocating respect.

  18. Thought I'd post back as it seemed Reloaders Bench got thrown under the bus on this thread. Maybe warranted, maybe not, to each his own on that.   However, I went to Reloaders Bench today to see if they had a replacement primer decapper pin for my Dillon, since I had no luck actually contacting anyone at Dillon. Larry, the older guy, dug around on his Dillon shelf and found a package of pins. He matched it up, screw it back together and handed it back to me.   I asked him what I owed...he said "Have a good day."   I don't think I'd get that across the street at Academy Sports, even if they carried Dillon. Nuff said.

  23.   Keep in mind we're talking about the MPD. They are more likely to run the tags on your car and search it under "reasonable suspicion" before they would run the numbers on a gun for you.   Sorry, didn't take my anti-cynicism pill this morning.

  25.   If it is the case I am thinking of, the deputy was off duty, was not in uniform, was not acting in any official capacity, was trespassing (after he and his friends passed a locked gate - basically breaking and entering) and was standing on the porch at something like 11:30 pm with a six pack in his hand, and had just turned away after jiggling the doorknob and attempting to gain entry.  Apparently, the house/property were for sale.  The owner - who was disabled and who had already had 'several' break ins at the property - had already moved his primary residence to Florida but was spending that night in the house.  Seems the deputy and his friends didn't think anyone was there and were probably looking for a place to hang out and party.  His friends tried to explain his actions by saying that he was looking to buy the place (which, iirc, was priced outside what one would expect a deputy could afford) and had simply taken them there to show the place to them.  An attempt was made to explain the late hour away by saying he worked odd hours so it wouldn't really seem that 'late' to him.  I never heard how they attempted to explain away the fact that they passed a locked gate to get there.   Apparently, the sheriff tried to go after the homeowner hard and heavy but was shut down when the facts of the case led to charges not being filed.  To me, that was more a case of a guy who happened to be a deputy doing something stupid and illegal that got him killed and the sheriff subsequently acting like a thug than a case of a LEO being killed while in his role as LEO.   http://www.newschannel5.com/Global/story.asp?S=12717293   And even after grand juries refused to indict, the parents still filed a 'wrongful death' suit.  They were carrying on about how the homeowner didn't say anything or 'call the authorities' before shooting Claiborne.  Well, guess what, if person A is ILLEGALLY on person B's property, has done something that qualifies as forced entry (such as passing a locked gate to get onto the property) and is standing on person B's porch jiggling the door handle then person A has no obligation to say anything or call anyone before acting in perceived self defense.  Gotta love how the article calls him a 'slain deputy' instead of 'a man who was illegally trespassing'.  Spin is everywhere, I guess.   http://www.newschannel5.com/story/13282530/parents-of-slain-deputy-sue-man-who-pulled-trigger

  28.   No offense to any given instructor, but in general you'll do as well to simply read the TN weapons and deadly force statutes, and spend a while in the Carry forum right here.   And of course, there are any number of absolutely incompetent instructors out there regarding the legal stuff that do more harm than good,  we see their idiot statements reported here all the time.   - OS

I love my kids, and will love them no matter what they do, but I would absolutely condemn their actions if they committed violent crimes such as murder. The father should be denied entry based on his previous comments.

  32.   Maybe dirtbag isn't an accurate description, I just don't care for the guy.  I don't care for the way he drops F bombs left and right one minute then climbs up on his high horse and preaches the gospel the next minute.  None of us Christians are perfect but I feel that he sets a poor example.  I've also heard him take anti 2nd A stances numerous times which does nothing to favor him for me.

  36. In a few states a felon can become a bounty hunter. TN is not supposed to be one of them.   I believe my way of apprehension is far superior to the tactics of the rag-tag bounty hunters we hear about.  I treat people nicely and use my manners.  That usually works wonders.  Of course if that doesn't work, I guess I could kick the door in and get shot at...

  37. What we fight today is not war, IMHO, and that includes Afghanistan. War is uncivilized by nature yet we try to civilize it. We haven't fought a war since WWII. Even Israel is trying to civilize war lately with their refusing to destroy a rocket-launching site because it was sitting atop an apartment building. You see, true innocents don't live next to a rocket-launcher. They either cause the rocket-launcher to be moved or they move away from it. If you house a combatant then you are no longer a non-combatant, and neither are your loved ones.

  39. I don't really need your .223 but I have a 500rd box of Remington Thunderbolt .22lr I bought today for $27.99 + tax. So $30 oughta be about what I got in it. I ain't ever really been a fan of Remington .22 shells, I just bought it really because it was on the shelf and I thought someone I know or someone on here might need it to take kids shooting. I work in Franklin. I'm not a benefactor so if this is out of line do whatever. I wasn't really planning on selling. Just trying to help someone out.

  40. “Because gun-confiscating agents do not obtain search warrants, their job involves convincing people to let them into their homes and hand over their guns. If an individual does turn over a gun, he or she can be arrested on suspicion of illegally owning a firearm.”   TRANSLATION: “Because gun-confiscating agents cannot legally obtain search warrants in these cases and would be a very costly endeavor at best, their job involves unlawfully tricking people into giving up their Constitutional rights and letting them into their homes. Their rights are further ignored as the agents persuade the home owner to hand over any guns they may own, then easily arresting them since their rights have been successfully subverted”   Sometimes the knowledge that one has lived 3/4's of their lives ain't so bad......

  41. And if these guys had wanted they could have made their own explosives from stuff bought at their CVS which would have blown better and caused more injury and death. Once again, you can't prevent evil, you can only react to it. As long as man has his imagination he will be capable of killing mass amounts of people regardless of any feel good legislation our whorediots in DC pass.

  44. Of course there is a difference between an informed buyer and a panic buyer. An informed buyer will pass up over priced items and when things calm down will not shop the over priced store A panic buyer will pay any price until they realized they have been riped off. Then they in turn will move on and remember not to shop at that store again

  45. Exactly,    Both the right to price high and the right to not ever shop there again are capitalism.   Kurt

  46. Was the price on the primers crazy? OR just because they had a limit? Limits don't bother me. Slightly higher prices than normal dont bother me. 50% and up increase, I'm making a list. I'm not saying anything to them, its their product to charge what they want for it, but its my money to spend when and where I see fit
