I'll probably end up buying the rifle since i make alot more and letting him use it on permanent loan since he'd feel bad and always want to pay me back for it if I just gave it to him, just to keep that thrill alive. Between him and my son they went through nearly $400 in ammo that day but they will never know that. It was worth it for my son to enjoy it and for me to break through someone's fears and watch them enjoy it. His fear dropped considerably after he seen i was right there and quick to jump in if something seemed off. I didn't yell like his uncle and dad did to him about it way back then, I calmly would show him how and calmly correct him as needed. Reactivate targets helped too lol4 points

A great documentary came out in the '80's about one that was caught and lived with a family up in Washington or Oregon.4 points

I wish they would just make the HCP an endorsement on our license - get rid of the extra piece of plastic with the same number on it as my driver's license altogether.4 points

kind of a misleading title to the story. How about having news stories that are truthful and stick to fact. While I do not agree with the outcome in this instance i do question why a two year old story is now making the news. Also why does the title mentions pliers and not knives. I dunno but I am guessing that having knives in the classroom is the issue not pliers. But then saying a teacher was suspended for having knives in class is not as sensational as saying he had pliers.4 points

The economy is in the toilet and welfare is probably larger than ever before. They are trying to exempt themselves from the bs health care. So with just those few things that are way more important than background checks I think they already have plenty on their plate. If we want to start saving kids then lets first talk about the million aborted every year and we get that number down then we can talk about the ones they use for political gain on bs agenda. By no means am I devaluing the lives of those lost from acts of criminals but sometimes I believe they cant see the forest from the trees.3 points

Everyone seems to own a Mosin these days, so I thought I'd join the crowd :) It's a round receiver and has refurb mark on the stock. There were three on the rack, and this one looked the best to me with the brass. I haven't cleaned it yet, and it is loaded with cosmoline. I wiped as much as I could from the exterior with a dry rag. I can't really check the bore yet because it has so much of that junk in it. I wiped enough away from the crown to see that it has not been counter bored, and the crown looks good. The bolt is super smooth and easy to operate. Barrel, buttstock, Mag floor plate and bolt have matching numbers. Stamped 1943 with Soviet emblem. The bayonet has a different number. It came with bayonet, oiler can, pouch, cleaning kit and sling. This is my first one, and I didn't know much about Mosins when I saw it on the rack. The impulse hit me to buy it, and I'm happy to have one. Now just have to clean off all that gravy it's been wearing and I'll be off to see how she shoots!2 points

I've just been turning in the larger resellers for suspected tax evasion. It only cost me a little time researching them online and a stamp for the envelope. Got one that I totalled up over $2k in online ammo sales in the last 3 months. :wave:2 points

Why file charges when you know a jury is going to find him not guilty when the defense raises reasonable doubt? Was he in fear for his life? Likely. There is no victim in this case and no hope of conviction. Who in their right effing mind would press charges?2 points

Good read, glad you posted it. No matter what happens in 2014 and 2016 elections, it's irrefutable that the progressive socialist agenda has reset the bar, and conservatism has lost much ground...and there's still 3.5+ years left under the current Destroyer in Chief. As the article concludes: "...American progressives will eventually seek a new mask for their authoritarian agenda. But their next wave will begin from a start line much further from the U.S. founding than the line Obama inherited. Much more than wishful thinking and high electoral hopes will be required to turn back the results of the Obama presidency. America, whether she fully realizes it yet or not, is fighting a whole new war now, on what is, for her, uncharted territory. Until Americans come to terms with this new terrain, all talk of moving beyond Obama is just tilting at windmills." Of course the "new mask" looks almost certainly to be an old one: Hillary Rodham Clinton. - OS2 points

Not possible. The Obama administration, FEMA, and DHS are all buying up all the ammo so us common folks can't get it. Which federal agency is paying you to say that? :stir:2 points

I like. Of course, I would have to replace perfectly good MBUS sights to find a place on one of my rifles.2 points

If they can do it to them they can do it to us. (Limit buying) This is BS. DHS isn’t keeping us from getting ammo. Hoarders and those trying to make a profit off the panic buyers is why we don’t have a good supply of ammo. If there was a shortage of resources (ammo) manufacturing would be steeping up to fill the demand. But they aren’t because they know it won’t last long enough to justify the cost.2 points

I swear people now days have gotten to where they use the word "Actually" in almost every paragraph that they say. It is over used badly in my opinion. For example: I actually caught the ball. And here is the same sentence as it should be in my opinion : I caught the ball. There is no reason to add the word "actually" . I am 40 yrs old and it makes no sense to me to talk like this and add other unnessasary words. How do you guys feel ? Am I crazy or what ? I admit that I am anal about things but this drives me up the wall.1 point

Thanks for the offer but I'd rather see what little i have left be enjoyed before I'd take a hand out, that's just the way I was raised. Hopefully soon it will be back to normal. I can't hunt anymore due to health so as long as I have a box of ammo for my carry gun I'm ok as long as it's enjoyed.1 point

The more I listen to the news, to other people, see what is happening in our society...the overwhelming complexity of modern society...the moral decay we can see and the large problems this country face I am coming to the conclusion that there are just not enough people in our country today to make the idea of limited government, decentralized power and personal liberty workable today. At one time, we were told that government was not the answer to our problems but that government WAS the problem. The government does have a long track record of f****ng up just about everything it tries to do yet I haven't seen much better results form individuals either of late. I would submit that for a representative democracy to work...to be sustained, you have to have not just a large but almost an overwhelming majority of people who are WILLING to do the right thing...act with integrity (even when no on is watching)...who have a sense of personal honor...love of family...love of community. I'm not sure we have that any more, at least not in sufficient quantities. I'm just about to conclude that there is simply nothing I can do to change anything...that voting is meaningless and a waste of time. That my best course of action is to try and be as comfortable as possible until I check out and assume room temperature. Am I just being too pessimistic in my old age? Is it still possible to turn things around? What to you think?1 point

The ammo is the problem. I have seen several people have problems with the P95 and cheap ammo. Might try cleaning it really well then some quality grease. To clean hose it down with WD40 the wipe it down and use air to blow it out from the internals. Add oil to the internals and grease to the frame rail and locking lugs.1 point

I spent a lot of time in the North West years ago. I loved the NW forests and mountains and spent time there every chance I got. I never saw the first track, scat, nor carcass of a Big Foot. But then, I never saw the first track, scat, nor carcass of a Mountain Lion either.1 point

I'm in the process of refinishing my Type 53. Believe it or not, a hairdryer does a fantastic job of pulling the cosmoline off the metal and out of the wood. Just heat her up and it oozes right out of the wood. Just be sure not to do it in your house because it leaves a good aroma the wife won't appreciate.1 point

I would say yes as long as it is in writing. I believe there is a 3-Day return period by law as well, so either should allow you to take it back.1 point

I love the cosmoline , after all it was what preserved it all these years. So cleaning it off to me is a PLEASURE not a CHORE. I have 2 Mosins and they are the best bang for the buck there is .1 point

Was "spotted" on Sunday in the grocery store and thought I'd put this here - not so much what *I* said, but what the cop said that I thought deserved being recorded for posterity: Apparently one of my fellow shoppers noticed my 1911 (why were they looking at my butt in the first place?) and reported it to management who called the police. Cop showed up, was SUPER professional and it really put me at ease how calm he was the whole time. After he'd checked my HCP I asked if I needed to leave the store, since the owner/manager was obviously uncomfortable with my being there. The cop said: "Oh hell no. If you're legal, you're legal. If they don't like it, they can go pound sand." He got what sounded like an urgent radio call before I got to talk to him much, or I'd have loved to get his name to report to his supervisor how well he handled the situation. - V1 point

I am against this for one reason only: I am former military and still cannot carry. It does not matter. I am a citizen and should be able to carry my weapon on a college campus. Period. We must start fighting minutae and start getting rights restored. Creating a speciality class of current and former law enforcement reinforces the belief that LEOs are "special" and not civilians. They need to live like the rest of society. Period.1 point
