If voicing my opinion that being gay is morally wrong makes me a homopobe then I guess I'm a homophobe. If you guys will excuse me I have some skinheads over for a beer and a cross to burn later tonight. >_> I love how disagreeing with something makes you a bad guy instantly. I also don't agree with abortion. That doesnt mean I hate people who have had one, or who do agree with it. I don't agree with the gay lifestyle because of my relegious beliefs. That doesn't mean I hate gays or that Im gonna bomb a gay marriage ceremony. I guess some people believe in freedom of choice as long as you agree with the majority sent from the backwoods8 points

The more I see, the more obvious it is why they didn't charge Zim. Hell, they gave him a 4.5 hour grilling without his even asking for a lawyer apparently. Daily it looks more and more clear that the local call on part of police/DA to not charge him was correct and reasonable. - OS6 points
-
Ignoring all that internet chatter, I think the threat to him is very real. The people that will go after him aren’t posting on twitter and I doubt they are the type to challenge him to gun fight. The New Black Panthers openly put a bounty on him dead or alive and the justice department stood by silently; that says a lot. There are people waiting for a reason to riot; they don’t care about Martin or Zimmerman. Either way the verdict goes; they will use it as a reason to destroy property and steal stuff.5 points

Welp Dave it's obvious that you cannot be reasoned with, nor will you even conceede the most simple, undeniable truth of the matter, instead inventing unreasonable standards that have absolutely no basis in the reality of the situation that Zimmerman faced. You might have well just have typed "Trayvon didn't do nuffin" clicked submit/post and saved us all the trouble of reading that long-winded and completely asinine post.4 points

Spots, you are not a homophobe unless you are actually scared of homos. Like their gonna come and get ya scared. I seriously doubt that is the case. That term is one of the worst pieces of PC, technically incorrrect bull#### ever thrust upon this nation.4 points

I agree. That term has never made any sense to me whatsoever. Being phobic means being scared of something. I assume it was meant as an insult as it seems to be a current theme that if you disagree with homosexuality, it means your scared your gay. Like I said. Their right to support them openly. My right to not support theur company, just like its their right to boycott chick fil a and my right to support them. Well I'm very disappointed that HQ did not correct the error on Page 4 that I pointed out during the comment period. Jeff Cooper was not a Full Colonel. :shake: He was a LtCol, USMCR. That important distinction is kind of.., sort of..., well its very important to some of us. OK, all kidding aside. I've been an SO now for over 12 years. I don't see where this new rulebook has done anything that really improves IDPA. The changes that were made seem to be petty with undue concern for trivial matters. These changes have only made points of friction and conflict by the creation of dissimilar ideas. There was insignificant focus on the important, with a deliberate and unworthy foolishness to change the utterly commonplace or unremarkable (i.e., Shooter Ready). This new rulebook displays a total lack of wisdom and the required anticipating vision of what was needed for the growth of IDPA. Epic Fail.3 points

Wow...That brings up an interesitng thought. there could be hundreds of Martin/Zimmerman cases pop up. Which will could very well snowball into more. I tell you i blame the race mongers for this. Sharpton, Jackson & co. The media, too. They'll never let racism die as long as they can profit from it and situations like this play right into their hands.3 points

I agree completely. Now if we can just get both sides to figure out that choosing one way or the other for your reasons does not mean forcing the other side to believe the same. That's what's awesome about a free country, I can believe in abortion and guns and know that many don't, but we can still coexist, or can we? My point obviously being we all seem to say it's a choice when it suits us, but as soon as it doesn't, then it shouldn't be a choice. I am not saying that directly about Spots, just to his point of coexisting. I am as guilty as the next guy.2 points

Well all of the assorted gangs, black panthers & nation of islam, etc, etc, are already organized, have means of funding themselves through their illicite activities, and are of course already armed, sadly even some of them are former soldiers, some even have combat experiance. If they decide to "go to war" the authorities would be hard-pressed to contain them even if the authorities wanted too, especially if they "go to war" during chaos that the unorganized mobs would be creating in the aftermath of a not guilty verdict. If any significantly sized groups of "white people" attempted to organize, for any reason, in a militia-like fashion, they would be targeted by the authorities and the media, especially by this administration & justice department. Every alphabet agency in the nation would come down on them HARD prehaps even go so far as to plant/manufacture evidence/charges to bring down the group. God forbid there was another actual Civil War in this country, the authorities would undoubtedly be guaranteed to be on the "wrong side" of it, even if the aggressors were comitting atrocities & the defenders were just trying to protect their families.2 points

Its going to be interesting once the trial is fully over. I don't think TN cities will have anything to worry about but Florida and some other places, definitely. I wonder how many other self defense shootings will be seen once the riots start? Too bad most of the people making the threats don't appear to have the intelligence to understand exactly what they are proposing and the consequences of their actions....but we all know the education and parenting system are broken.2 points

I say in the long run it aint goin to. I think we are gonna see this country devolve into a confederation of sorts just as ive opined. One will be comprized of "on the dole" states; the other the "ya have to work" states. The "on the dole" states are goin broke. They will demand more dollars for the "dole". They wont get 'em; they will (...and are...) dry up . The Federal gubmt will try to put the arm on the "ya have to work states". Some smart governor about like Rick Perry (...remember him, he wuz "too dumb" accordin to the media the the republican insiders to become president...) and some smart state's attorney will sue the Federal Gubmt sayin that the Fed's cant withhold dollars duly collected by the individual states (...which the court has already said, by the way ALA John Roberts and Obamacare....). Said another way: "...what each individual state pays in to the Treasury must come out of the treasury back to that particular state via "block grants" for specific purposes. That means that each state will manage it's particular program (...welfare, healthcare, ect ect...) using state programs as outlined by state law; each state imposing it's particular set of rules (...drug testing, ya have to hunt for work, ya have to go to school... you get the idea....); not the federal government. It's the rise of "state's rights" vs the federal government redux ALA the Civil War without firing a shot. The "ya gotta work" states will encourage businesses to settle in their particluar states; that is, they will make their state a "business friendly" state ALA Tennessee (...volkswagen and nissan...) and Texas; becoming richer. The "on the dole states" have already run all their businesses off, becoming poorer ALA Michigan and Kalefornia. If what i've described happens, it will clean up the "on the dole" thing, and put the management of welfare, indigent care, dividual states. Let's hope im right. Otherwise, we will become South Africa and Rawanda. leroy2 points

I did a quick look at every major or mass killer in the last 20 years. Nearly every single one supports the Democratic agenda or are a liberal Democrat themselves. I have ever heard some say they don't like guns because they are afraid they couldn't control themselves if they had one. This proves to me they have some sort of mental deficit if they are afraid an inanimate object will force them to do something. If Zimmerman gets aquitted there will be rioting in the streets. This maybe the spark that starts the country on fire. We may not see it in our communities or where we live here but we will feel the effects of it.2 points

They did it after the Rodney King beating videos went public. I remember seeing them rioting, looting, & beating people in the streets on TV. They also threatened to do the same thing if O.J. I'll be heading out to Rangemaster in Memphis at Zero dark thirty tomorrow (Saturday) morning for my first training class this year; a two day, 20 hour class with Massad Ayoob on the rules of engagement for armed law-abiding private citizens. While certainly not as "glitzy" as rifle, shotgun or pistol training on a range such as I've taken at Tactical Response, this is a class I've been looking forward to for quite a while! :) For those of you who aren't familiar with Massad he is someone you really need to become familiar with and especially some of his excellent books such as the classic "In the Gravest Extreme; The Role of the Firearm in Personal Protection (ISBN-10: 0936279001) I don't claim any special talent at doing such things but I'll try to offer my impressions of the class and highlights of what was covered! http://massadayoobgroup.com/1 point

av88tor is correct. Champion and Superior do build their lower end safes in Mexico. They use U.S. STEEL and make a good product but they are manufactured in Nogales, Mexico. Basically if there's an "M" in the serial number, it's from Mexico. I wish they were all U.S. made but after many competing safe companies started manufacturing safes in China, Champion and Superior went to Mexico. My prices are consistantly fair but they can indeed be matched or beat. Value and price are different. I make a lot of friends selling safes. I've had a lot of jobs over the years, military, law enforcement, construction, park ranger and others but none compare to what I do now. I have more fun selling safes and meeting the people who buy them than I could have imagined when I got into this business. The people that buy quality safes are of a unique caliber. They are almost always good folks. I do my best to get to know them and figure out their particular safe needs. By the time we're done talking safes, we've usually esablished a lot of common ground relating to God, guns, family and country. Friendships are established. If you're after the cheapest safe, there are many other places to buy. To us at Parker's Safes and Vaults, prices are important, but quality and lasting value matter more.1 point

Not to discount some nut or nuts going after Zim personally at some point (maybe he'll be like Jeremiah Johnson and have to off them one at a time for years), but I don't think anything but perhaps some local limited "rioting" down there is gonna occur if (and surely seems that's when) he's exonerated. - OS1 point

The husband took it better than me. He was "speechless". I could imagine myself possibly being a little more vocal while politely describing how they might oughta shut the ol vcr off and head on out and arrest this guy before I find him. It pisses me off watching the video of someone i don't know. I can't imagine the rage I would be in if it was my wife, niece, sister, mom, etc. Oh and I'm kinda surprised it hasn't been twisted yet to be the (what appears to me to be) white womans fault somehow. Where's the calls for justice and accusations of racism. The vigils, petitions, and press conferences? Comments from the guy living in the white house? I expect more from the media and govt.1 point

This video is a powerful endorsement of "...you need to have a weapon handy and in reach at all times...". We can quibble about the idea that "...there are kids in the house, i dont like guns, ya might shoot a neighbor, ya might shoot someone you love, nobody should own guns (...the NJ standard...), dont resist and he wont hurt you (...real funny one...), on and on.... ya get the point...). The fact is, as others have opined that this can and does happen everywhere and it aint an "across the track, poor neighborhood" issue at all; its everywhere ubiquidous. Since it is "everywhere ubquidous"; you better decide what you need to do beforehand. I'ts a wonder that the poor woman in this video wasn't beat to death, or worse. Thank God she wasnt killed. Notice the police werent there; not because they didnt want to be (...which we can quibble a bit about too; especially in NJ...). The fact is that the police cannot be everywhere. I'm a 66 year old gimp with a 65 year old wife. We couldn't survive a beating like this thug passed out. My solution is simple... If you kick the door in at my house and make it across the threshold and you aint wearing swat gear and hollering "...officers..."; im gonna try to "...stop the threat with great finality...". I may get whooped and gut stomped, but it will be after the shootin, stabbin, and fightin is over. The same goes for the truck, jeep, and anywhere else im wonderin around. I'm never not armed, and ive decided what to do should that awful day come. I recommend that you and your loved ones do the same. From the bunker on the hillside. leroy, armed citizen1 point

Just my two cents, but if I end up needing to use a knife for self defense, I don't think it's going to take much mental preparation to get the "ferocity" needed to try and protect myself. If it's down to using my knife, things have gotten really really really really bad and it's literally a very dire life or death situation. I think that this article over-estimates the knife fighting skills of your typical street thug. In the real world the chances of being engaged in a "knife fight" are essentially zero. In 10 years of policing, I don't recall ever arresting a single person that had a blade on them that was going to be used for knife fighting. If a thug did approach me with a knife, I'd be very confident that they have no more knife fighting skill than I do, so even minimal thought and effort put into learning how to fight with a blade will give you the edge in just about any situation you may find yourself in. All that said, I'm not really sure what the author's point is.1 point

I shopped for a safe for several weeks on and off line. Then I checked with Parker's. Found what I was looking for. Aaron had the size, fire rating, setup, and price. Beat all others in all respects. Last week Mr. Parker drove over the mountain with my new safe. Showed up on time with all item to setup my new safe. No problems and all was done on a phone call. Hard to beat Parker's service and prices. If I was in the market for a safe Parker's is the only one to call. Or you can buy a cheap made box store safe. You get what you pay for. It only takes $5.00 more to go first class with American made safes.1 point
