Me too. It goes like this: "Please lord, take Obama in to your loving arms. Today, if at all possible".4 points

I've always been amazed at what the founders WERE able to envision though. If they hadn't done such a good job, we would have been shooting it out a long time ago.3 points

Why would anyone think his stand on the 2nd amendment, one way or the other, would impact his chances to become President? Obama openly said he wanted to ban all semi-auto guns; he was elected President…twice.3 points

So it's official. We found out today that my wife is going to do her residence at Vanderbilt University Med Center. We're sad to leave East Tennessee but very excited about the future. I'm going to be asking for living suggestions and job openings as we prepare for the move but I'll start new threads for that. Just wanted to share the good news. Wife and I went to the CMP South Store last Saturday and I came back with this. It's a 1954 HRA field grade in nice shape. They had 25-30 when we got there. I was like a kid in a candy store looking at them.2 points

People do make jewelry out of the stuff. Even cleaned it must be Eley brass at that price. But what does the artist know? That reminds me....this very nice and very fine woman used to set up at the Knoxville guns shows selling her jewelry.....http://www.jenuinelyjeni.com/bullet_jewelry.html. It was always a pleasure to see what she had to offer.2 points

Big surprise. Not. Same thing that killed the bill for using permit in lieu of TICS/NICS check, too. It all comes back to the unconstitutionality of the HCP itself. To "regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime" doesn't do anything but produce more criminals than we'd have with free universal carry. - OS2 points

By all means, get one. Just don't wave it around while walking past a school. Ho, ha, parry, dodge, spin, thrust...2 points

Just try really hard not to chop anyone with it. Even if they deserve it. Shoot them instead. :up:2 points

I'm going to get a nice Italian stiletto, switchblade, with at least a 5" blade! Why? Because they look so cool! It seems absurd that I can legally carry my .45 AND my .380 , yet am not to be trusted with a switchblade.2 points

He's a cute one all right. My dog did the same thing when he was a pup. Now he's all lap dog. I read an article a few months back that said researchers had discovered that when you come home and a dog is excited to see you, its brain releases the same chemical that a person's brain releases when they are in love. That puts in perspective how a dog feels about you. If that isn't the cure for depression, I don't know what is.2 points

Many people are undeserving of prayers, but Christians are specifically directed to love their enemies. This is NOT the love that society has defined as an emotion, but rather showing kindness. I pray for lots of people for various reasons, and lots of them are not loved by me.2 points

Yuup. Big government control freak Republicans are no more a friend of the Constitution, or individual thought (or liberty) than a big government Democrat...they are all just progressives who think that the government is the answer to every problem (when in reality it's usually the cause of the problem).2 points

Frankly, one of the first duties of a armed citizen is to avoid an armed conflict and if my "targets" are 50 or 80 or 100yards away then why the hell would I be sticking around and engaging in a gun fight at those distances with a pistol??? If you can get out then you GET OUT...if you can't retreat...if you are really stuck and have no choice then you do what you have to do with what you have but I would say that most of the talk about self defense shooting at longer distances is really not much more than a academic discussion; not a very likely real life scenario.2 points

A saxophone pad with a metal tone booster. Kind of looks like a shooting target too. LowBb is the lowest note on a saxophone. It's as far down as you can get without putting your foot in the bell.1 point

To add to my original post. My family and perhaps another one or two are looking to move down there when we retire in about 5 years. We are looking to get a nice piece of property that has a source of water on it and build some houses far enough away from each other so we can only see each other with a pair of binoculars. We don't want to change a thing, we want to acclimate to our new area and enjoy what we should have now.1 point

I would ask how you came up with the coin for that setup, but with the nameplate and a quick look online, "coin" actually makes sense :D Good looking gear sir.1 point

The House has not amended the bill at this point: they are still considering the original version that has removed signage verbiage. It is that version that has the fiscal note attached. There is (rightly) a reluctance to attach the Senate amendment due to the 39-17-1309 reference in that amendment (truly does create a possible felony entrapment scenario), but I cannot fathom why a simple amendment adding language allowing current signage to remain until otherwise requiring replacement was not attached during Civil Justice hearings. The fiscal note was attached Jan 20 - it wasn't like they couldn't see this coming. Given the press to adjourn ASAP after budget finalization (so our precious legislators can go home to start convincing us that they are worthy to remain in in our employ), I'd bet god money that this one is dead. If you watch other parts of the Fnce Subcmte meeting, the chair and various sponsors were practically joking about the consequences of being "placed behind the budget". The chair even told a few sponsors that he thought their bills were good ones, and admonished them to be sure and bring them back next year...1 point

This is not gun related, but I'm as happy as can be. My son got accepted at The University of Alabama a few months ago. Then he was accepted into the Honors college. Now, we've just received news that he has been accepted into the S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathmatics) five year MBA program. I'm so proud of his hard work. Now, I'm going to have to force myself to say... Ro, gag, Ro, gag...Roll Tide! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point

Might be a little difficult at Centennial Park Mud Pit right now. The lake is being drained for cleaning. And our Mayor will probably filter the sludge for loose change to help pay for more of his pet projects.1 point

Legitimate tree trimming crew contracted by local utilities board doing their job, and a guy comes out and yells at them to quit, and from a distance appears he has a gun prominently displayed. Seems reasonable to me that those guys had a reasonable cause for apprehension, can't reasonably keep working but then reasonably can't not do the job they promised to do, so reasonably call the authorities, who reasonably show up to check things out, and they reasonably don't arrest anyone after reasonably assessing the situation. What do you find unreasonable about any of it? - OS1 point

He will have no shortage of love for sure, and I'm hoping in a several months he'll wanna be my jogging partner. Most of the dogs we've had were having none of that! :) My wife was reminding me of all the extra work that puppies are versus getting an older one, but the bonding with the family is worth the work to me. I've been driving home on lunch to check on the lil feller and he gets so excited when I walk in the door.....after he gives his vicious puppy growl to let me know he's on guard :lol:1 point

I'd say it's a win-win for them either way. If he loses that's great for them; if he wins he isn't going to be much a change from whatever Democrat he beat.1 point

Should this legislation reach his desk, I won't be surprised at all if he signs it. Christie is not only not a friend of the second amendment he is pretty much an enemy and if he doesn't sign this legislation it will ONLY be due to potential political backlash which i don't think is enough to keep him from signing it. He may not be at all worried about the potential lost support if he does sign it because I suspect he is smart enough to realize that most of the votes he would lose he has already lost! NJ after all, is a state that is absolutely NOT a friend of civilian firearm ownership and neither is Chris Christie. For those who don't think that Christie is still, not just in the running but probably the Republican to beat for the nomination in 2016 I humbly disagree. I believe he is exactly what the establishment Republicans (the ones in charge of the party) want in a candidate and I expect them to pull out all the stops to see he gets the nomination. Whether he gets the nomination is another matter but I do believe that the establishment and many other "Republicans" still think he is a great leader.1 point

Good ol' Dub Taylor, one of the best character actors to ever bless the screen. You might know him from hundreds of western flavored movies, including his roles as Cannonball in the B-movies, C.W. Moss' father in Bonnie and Clyde and the town preacher in the opening scenes of The Wild Bunch. I got to spend some time back in the '70s with him and his son, Buck, who played Newly on Gunsmoke. There's no finer pair of gentlemen you'll ever meet. Dub's gone on to his reward now, and Buck is a highly respected western artist.1 point

My 870 was a plain jane wood stock 26" express that the previous owner had done a pine needle camo job to. I ordered speedfeed stocks scattergun technologies 6rd side saddle, 2rd mag extension, and big head safety. I stripped the old paint and put on a coat of kylon camo od green. I kept the 26" barrel because I still use this shotgun for hunting. I purchased an 18" barrel from a member here. I plan on adding a xs big dot and then I will be done.1 point
